nikon_z20_f1-8sNikon Z 20mm f/1.8 S

Pros: Extreme correctness, great sharpness and chromatic respect

Cons: Nothing, even the price is reasonable

Opinion: Excellent optics not to be compared to the excellent 20mm f1.8G. The optical scheme changes, there is an extra lens and speaking of lenses we find 3 aspherical and 3 ED lenses, also on the Z we also find a diaphragm with 9 blades instead of 7. The result is a concentrate of power that half is enough, absolutely the best 20mm I've ever tried! The sharpness returned is devastating, the flare is unknown, the correctness of this lens is touching. I use it with my second body (Zf) for light street and travel outings together with the Z 50mm f1.8 obtaining a very light and very very performance set, and I can say that - apart from the comfort of the zoom - it absolutely does not make me regret the stratospheric Z 14-24 left at home. And the MTFs don't say anything different, this little guy (so to speak...) is truly prodigious! Highly recommended for any situation, indispensable for landscapers, well done mom Nikon!

nikon_z400_f4-5vrNikon Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S

Pros: Build quality, lightness, optical performance of the highest level

Cons: The so-called "bag" and the tripod attachment foot

Opinion: A good premise: I don't play sports and I don't go for birds, so I make general use of long fires. But I always like to have one available, so I bought this beautiful lens to replace the excellent 500 PF. What can I say, very good purchase, small size and lightness at the swing, good brightness and great sharpness even at TA, really a lens to recommend! The VR is very effective and the ergonomics with my Z9 are also absolutely satisfactory, you never feel the need for tripods. Before taking it I had reluctantly tried (I don't like zooms) the Z 100-400 and I can rightly say that the smooth 400 is superior in everything, really another go. The cons are the usual, first of all the anachronistic and cheap foot of the tripod mount, to be replaced immediately with a third-party Arca Swiss foot. And then that rubbish, that miserable piece of canvas that they would like to pass off as a lens case. An indecent stuff that cannot help but leave you stunned that he has just spent over 3000 euros. A highly recommended lens then, hoping that in the near future - to save money - they will not stop supplying caps as well!

nikon_z50_f1-8sNikon Z 50mm f/1.8 S

Pros: Perspective correctness, sharpness

Cons: Nothing, knowing what you're buying

Opinion: Excellent lens, without a doubt the best that Nikon has ever produced in the focal length in the "normal" aperture. Quite compact, sharpness never seen before, absolute respect for the color palette. Personally, I like to play with more important lenses but I use this fifty firmly attached to my second body (a Zf) for street and travel photos, a minimal but high-level set that allows you to always have the camera with you. But you can certainly imagine building a very effective and fairly cheap layette by placing alongside ours the excellent Z 20mm and 85mm, both also f 1.8. The MTFs give unimaginable, very high responses, not comparable to any 50 Nikon ever produced and in fact the performance is completely similar to that of the 50 Art, therefore very high. But those who know a little bit about photos know perfectly well that MTFs are not everything and above all they do not give the idea of the finished photo. This is to say that obviously the 50mm f1.2 (which fortunately I own) is another story, it doesn't cost four times as much by chance. However, for the uses described above, this fifty appears absolutely irreplaceable, optically much superior to the various "all-rounder" zoommons that are popular among those who do not know what to buy. So well done Nikon, this is a really recommendable purchase!

nikon_z135_plenaNikon Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena

Pros: Great lens, if you are looking for a large 135 with Z mount is the only option

Cons: Modest accessories, high price

Opinion: The one I currently have is the second Plena I've purchased, the first one I brought back to the store the next day because I didn't see huge improvements compared to my 135 Art. Then I definitely got tired of using the FTZ II adapter and I went back to buy the Plena. Let's say right away that (at least in my eyes) there are no abysmal differences with the corresponding Art: the sharpness is almost identical and the infamous circular bokeh or cat's eye you really have to go and look for it. On the other hand, the "case" is laughable and the lens hood is built with the usual cheap plastic. That said, the lens is excellent (even if I definitely prefer my 50 and my 85, both f1.2) and irreplaceable for portraits close to the face only. It's a real canvas, so watch out for the compression effect. Very good sharpness, and bokeh as expected from a lens that mounts an 11-blade diaphragm. It holds the backlight well, probably thanks to the anti-reflective coatings that Nikon likes to resell under exotic names on its site. Finally, I have to admit that the lens is easily brandished, with the Z9 it falls very well in the hand. Summing up, this Plena is probably the best 135 on the market even if, in my very personal nikon-ranking, I would place it in third position behind the fantastic 85mm and 50mm f1.2.

nikon_z85_f1-2sNikon Z 85mm f/1.2 S

Pros: It's the culmination of Nikon's optical expertise

Cons: The lens hood, not even third parties would be able to make it so poor

Opinion: I love very bright lenses so after buying the fantastic 50mm f1.2 I couldn't miss this beautiful lens too! What can I say, over the course of decades of amateur photography I have owned the best 85 but something like this had never happened to me, finding together a fairytale bokeh and a devastating resolution is certainly not everyday stuff! And like the "little brother" 50mm is an easy lens, you immediately get in tune with it and after a hundred shots you feel it is yours, it is as if you have had it for a lifetime. No chromatic aberrations, no vignetting, and mounted on a Z9-type body it falls into your hand like a glove and gives you a rare lust. And you immediately forget about weight, size and economic commitment (moreover, in my opinion, commensurate with the value of the goal). The only drawback is the lens hood: it is not petal-shaped like that of the 50 but rather tubular and built with a plastic so poor that you feel discomfort just touching it. I understand everything but with such a lens hood is not worthy of a big brand, you can't look for savings on optics of this range. And anyway in my very personal ranking of Nikon lenses this lens goes to reach the first place the aforementioned 50mm, and both overtake the 200 f2, more I don't know what else to say. I realize that it is particularly difficult to explain the advantages of an ultrafast to those who prefer cheaper lenses so I don't even try, as far as I'm concerned I'm waiting for the next 28 or 24mm from Nikon, obviously f 1.2! To close an observation: in over 40 years of amateur photography I have owned and duly tested a huge number of Nikon lenses but these 85 and 50 always 1.2 are imperiously at the top of my very personal ranking. The Plena, a great lens that I also own, comes only a moment later...

nikon_z50_f1-2Nikon Z 50mm f/1.2 S

Pros: It is the sum of optical knowledge as far as focal knowledge is concerned

Cons: Nothing, knowing what you want

Opinion: - It is bulkier than a Z 24-70 f 2.8 and weighs more than a kilo, so it is not suitable for cans, to balance it you have to mount it on a Z9. It's a fixed camera, you can forget the versatility of a zoom. The very low DOF at maximum aperture forces you to take a sniper course. It costs a lot of money (even if it's worth it all), but if you love the classic focal length that a "normal" returns, if you love high optics and precision mechanics, if you love shooting in low light situations, if you are looking for the difficult balance between high sharpness and a moving bokeh, if you don't need it for work but only to give vent to your high self-esteem and/or your talent, Well, then the 50mm f1.2 is definitely the lens for you. A lens for the mentally ill like myself. Finally, I had the opportunity to compare it exhaustively with the old 50mm f1.2 AIs and I must say that it was a real bloodbath, the 40 years that elapse between the design of the two lenses can be felt by everyone! The Z always gratifies you and with all apertures, the AIs definitely don't. Let's not talk about resolution, the Z in my opinion reaches and passes 100 p/mm lines. And, strangely enough, at TA the depth of field of Z measured on graph paper at 45° is always and punctually greater than that of AIs. Mysteries of optics! Only one contraindication: once you have acquired this splendid objective you will find a battalion of monkeys on your shoulders that will suggest you to sell out to buy your little cousin, the 85 f 1.2. Of course, I gave in and, indeed, I am looking forward to the upcoming 24th or 28th, always f 1.2! But that's another story...

nikon_zfNikon Zf

Pros: Performance, robustness, old-style form factor

Cons: Nothing, knowing what you are buying and being willing to invest in optics

Opinion: I'm not one of those crazy ML enthusiasts but that's the future, so after 45 years of SLR photography I had to adapt. And following an excellent start with the Z9 I found myself thinking of a second body to use for travel and around. I had no doubts, the Zf was the car for me: breathtaking old-style design (with huge technical and substantial improvements compared to the Df from which it is inspired), magnesium alloy bodywork that gives a great sense of robustness, masterful performance. Some sympathizers describe it as a Z6 II-like one, raving about the fact that the processor is the same, but those who make an effort to oil the synapses discover that the Zf - as well as the Z9 - is equipped with Expeed 7, high-efficiency RAW compression, advanced AF of the latest generation with a very different level of recognition, -10 EV in low light (the Z6 II goes up to -6 EV...), stabilization of 8 stops on 5 axes, faster maximum shutter speeds and, last but not least, the Zf is also the only one equipped with the revolutionary Pixel Shift Multi Shot. Let's also remember that the ZF uses magnesium alloy, the plastic leaves it to the other models. As I said at the beginning of the discussion, with the Z6 II it has in common only the sensor, everything else is decidedly superior. Personally I use it as a second body for street and travel, I dedicated a Z 50mm and a Z 20mm both f 1.8 to it, obtaining an easily transportable and extremely high-performance layette. But my high-end Z lenses also go great with this little vintage monster! Anyone who thinks of buying a Zf and then equipping it with that embarrassing Tamr-ikon hybrid stuff, extravagant zoommons of dubious origin or tiny pancake-like avant-garde wastes his money, that's my opinion then do as you want... And at this point the millennial - the one who before the advent of digital cameras has never picked up a camera - stands up loudly complaining that the ZF has little grip. Well, I also remind the millennial that the object is openly inspired by the form factor of mechanical reflexes which, but lo and behold, on the front were absolutely smooth. A bit like the Leica M, so to speak. And that in any case to acquire grip you can equip it with Smallrig or, a choice that I certainly support, with an excellent half leather case. To close, for what are my needs, the Zf is an absolute top with a very high value for money, excellent both as a first choice and associated with the Z9 to form a devastating combination!

nikon_z14-24_f2-8Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S

Pros: It is the optics of miracles, needless to say anything else

Cons: Perhaps the materials with which it is built

Opinion: After having "opened" to the ML world with a Z9 with very little conviction, the problem naturally arose of giving the newcomer a minimum of optical equipment. I initially thought of the f4 for weight and size but after trying them I came to the conclusion that the Tamkon hybrids are not at all level, maybe they are fine with the lower models but with the flagship they definitely don't go well. And so, with my wallet in tears, I had to land on the triad of f2.8 zooms assisted by the 400 f4.5 S and the magic pair of f1.2. Let me start by saying that the judgment I would like to give on 14-24 applies to the entire triad of f 2.8. They are incredible lenses on an optical level, truly unsettling, and in their respective focal lengths they set new standards of excellence. Because if being able to optically improve the now old AFS 14-24 and 24-70 VR was in the ropes of any brand, it was not really obvious to improve the 70-200 FL. Optically, these three zeta series are stone crushers, there is nothing for anyone and I find it superfluous to even discuss them. Highly recommended, and with this performance even the price becomes a detail...

nikon_z9Nikon Z9

Pros: Pro Body, AF

Cons: Intrusive electronics, battery compartment door, high ISO, memory card retaining spring

Opinion: In possession of an important Nikon F kit, I resisted the sirens of marketing until the very end. And if in the end I gave in it was more out of curiosity and the desire to test new stuff, in reality I don't need an ML and I continue undaunted to consider the reflex - and in particular the D6 - the real queen of cameras. That said, and since I'm used to professional and I've never been one to have a good mouth, I bought a Z9. Nikon's other MLs look embarrassingly similar to the Kodak Instamatic to my elderly eyes (don't blame the owners), in short, I see them as plastic cans. The Z9 is a decidedly successful machine, breathtaking design and first-class ergonomics, it really "falls" immediately well into your hand and the presence of magnesium alloy is felt and is truly reassuring. The choice to equip it with two CFexpress memory slots is excellent, a choice probably borrowed from the D6. It's a pity that the restraint system of the aforementioned boards is spring-loaded as in the cheaper models and not with the physical gray button that we find in D5/D6. It's not a small detail, spring systems sooner or later break and you're left with the card stuck in the machine's reader, and this is a big critical issue for a camera that aspires to the professional level. I know that this aspect has not been highlighted by anyone before me but this does not deprive me of sleep, they have probably never picked up a nikon pro, or I am not able to discern the functional solutions adopted. With a great battery, this EN-EL18D allows you to shoot a full day without carrying around another spare battery. The Expeed 7 is a big step forward, the sensor (in my opinion similar to that of the D850) always does its dirty work allowing beautiful high definition shots. Everything has been written about the excellent AF and there is no need to say more. Excellent AF performance with good lenses, with the FTZ II the Art can be used without any focus adjustment! And finally, I find the updates that have followed one another very "smart", really substantial and able to transform the camera. Finally, let's see what I liked the least, and I'd definitely start with the electronic viewfinder. I don't like framing from the display at all so I consider the viewfinder a sacred thing, maybe for this reason - and coming from that of the D6 - I consider the viewfinder of the Z9 a great.., well, in short, let's say that I am not passionate about it at all! Let's continue with the electronics of the camera: definitely redundant! Scrolling through the menus you will find a thousand solutions to problems you didn't know you had, solutions that you will probably never use. Then there is the door of the memory compartment that seems to have been designed by a drug addict in withdrawal crisis, it is no wonder that Nikon puts such a solution on the market! And last but not least, we come to what for me is the mother of all flaws: high ISO. Ok, I already know what you're thinking, used to the D6 (with which a shot at 12,800 has the noise of a shot at 400 ISO) you expect too much, but honestly I was thinking of something better, and instead at the top the behavior is that of a D850. Which I had to anticipate, the sensor is dense and the physics are inescapable... To close, I continue as before and more than before to ask myself what these MLs are for and I continue to consider the reflex system more complete as well as more mature. But I'm not disappointed with my Z9 at all, the camera is excellent and then... That's the future, and it doesn't get any better!

nikon_pce85Nikon PC-E 85mm f/2.8 D Micro

Pros: Refined mechanics, very high optical quality

Cons: Bulky and with some limitations, but those who buy it know it

Opinion: Essential for still life and studio photography both specialist and generalist, it is like having a portable optical bench! Exceptional in macro (even if the reproduction ratio reaches "only" 1: 2), never seen such a thing, coupled with a D850 the photos produced are more real than reality. It outclasses as a definition the excellent 105 micro and, if you have no problem manually controlling the focus then it becomes a definitive optics for that genre. The mechanical quality of the system that allows decentralization and misalignment is very high but in this case the use is not at all intuitive, there is also a button that allows you to manually open or close the diaphragm. In short, if you really want to use it as tilt & shift you will have to study the user manual for a moment and maybe make use of some reviews on the net. In conclusion it is a great piece with remarkable versatility, highly recommended if you find a used like new around € 700

nikon_afs28_f1-4Nikon AF-S 28mm f/1.4 E ED

Pros: It is the apotheosis of super bright wide angles

Cons: Nothing. Not even the price, which in my opinion is absolutely in line with the quality offered by this extraordinary lens

Opinion: There is little to say, with the 28 f 1.4 the japs have pulled out something destined to remain for life at the top of the lenses with Nikon F mount. I also own the other f 1.4 of the AFS series and, while recognizing everyone a great quality, I must say that no one (including 105) reaches the extremes of this fantastic 28. It seems that the designer has found a way and a way to overcome any optical problem, there is no way to put this 28 in difficulty! The yield is splendid and the optics seem born precisely to solve very dense sensors, if you use it with an 850 I guarantee that you will get divine things. Contrary to what I read around - probably written by those who do not have it - the AF does not work miracles in speed, let's say that it is in line with previous models. The color returned is very beautiful and lively, let's say more "crunchy" than that of the previous 24, then of course it is a matter of taste. The sharpness is at very high levels, but you already know this. In my opinion it is a lens that every serious nikonist (lover of wide angles, of course) budget permitting should possess. Provided, of course, that it is used as all AFS 1,4 should be used, i.e. at TA or closed at most one stop. Because let's face it, buying stuff like that to use it at f 8 means throwing money, and I hope this is very clear ...

sigma_85_f1-4artSigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

Pros: Bokeh, great sharpness, solidity, speed and AF accuracy, cost

Cons: Nothing. I could say weight and bulk, but they are laughable arguments when compared to performance

Opinion: I have one in kit for several years (accompanied by a fantastic Sigma Protector Ceramic) and I think I can say it is an absolute reference for the focal one. Very sharp already at f 1.4, from f 2.8 to 5.6 it becomes even radiographing. The bokeh is excellent, never nervous, one of the creamiest ever seen. The diaphragm always precise is naturally electromagnetic, the very fast AF is ultrasonic, the price is laughable. The palette of colors returned travels on the most absolute neutral, you can forget the chromatic oddities of the canikon portrait half-canvases. What can I say, speaking of autofocus lenses I do not think there is a better 85 but be careful, as always with regard to the Art I strongly advise against the purchase to those who do not want - or are not able - to perfectly calibrate the AF with the dock. Because the mission of this 85 (as well as that of the little brother 135) is to be used always and in any case at TA....

nikon_d500Nikon D500

Pros: AF coupling and sealing, buffer, shutter, materials used and assembly

Cons: It has no cons if you know what you buy

Opinion: Does it make sense to talk about the D500 in 2023, with production now ceased? I think so, since it is the best apsc SLR ever produced and having the security that it will never be surpassed, producing an ML costs a quarter and those of Nikon do not have the nose ring. Many D7500 owners optimistically claim that the two SLRs are almost the same but this is just wishful thinking, the D500 is unique. The many reviews prior to mine already exalt features such as AF, buffer, shutter, build quality, so I do not waste time repeating them. Some pious souls, however, have gone out of their way to praise the high ISO, and here we must take stock seriously. With its 21 mpxl and with that expeed that is found the D500 would have excelled even on high ISO but then would have gone into competition with the D5. At this point the ISO have nicely cut them at the level of sw adding a progressive dose of noise from about 2400 upwards. I recommend those who use the automatic ISO to calibrate the maximum to 3200 and use the 6400 (however fully exploitable) only for emergency. I also recommend the use of the battery grip - possibly the original MB-D17, unfortunately expensive - both because the jewel loves to consume power (and in the BG you can use the EN-EL 18), and because the best grip will be very useful for the predictable use with long burners. By the way, with the PF 300 and 500 it forms an incredible combination, super manageable, and returns beautiful rows, but even with the heavy 200-500 comes out a good match for sports and birdlife! For general shots I use instead the excellent coupled Art 18-35 and 50-100, stuff at these levels at Nikon I have not found. Unfortunately Nikon has never intended to develop excellent lenses for apsc, unfortunately their catalog is reduced to a host of plastics not worthy of so much SLR. What can I say, to close I dispassionately recommend the purchase on the used of this jewel, just use it a couple of hours to realize that in terms of apsc there is no better!

sigma_18-35_f1-8Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art

Pros: Constant 1.8 f brightness, sharpness, build quality

Cons: not received

Opinion: We cannot speak of 18-35 individually but in my opinion we must evaluate it together with its worthy partner, Art 50-100 f 1.8. Optics of excellence for those who have a robust and performing apsc body, really allow you to make the most of even the densest sensors. Record brightness, unparalleled optical performance, great sharpness and a color palette that is not cold but rather pastel. Fast AF, a minimum of physiological vignetting at TA, which is also pleasant. Both are "only" 2x zoom and also one from telephoto to telephoto and the other from wide angle to wide angle, moreover without the additional lenses that would have imposed a possible VR. Everything is paid with really important size and weight but this can not be considered a defect, with those characteristics the project specifications can not provide anything else. What can I say, in Nikon (which is what I know) with these two zooms you build a winning combination with the formidable D500 (maybe with battery grip to stabilize it), something that will never make you regret a full frame! For other lightweight bodies (D7200, D7500 etc.) I see better the classic nikon 16-80, more suitable for that class. The caps are the shameful ones of all time, to be replaced immediately perhaps with those nikon. And to close the usual recommendation: the Art are super performing lenses with an incredible quality-price ratio, but DO NOT BUY THEM if you are not going to spend time calibrating them with the dock station, you would be disappointed. And in this case, being zoom, estimate at least two or three hours if you are good ...

Construction of excellence, brass bayonet for both and, hear hear, in addition to 3 FLD lenses our 50-100 - in order to facilitate burst shots - also boasts a superb 9-blade diaphragm in carbon fiber! In short, if produced by Canon or Nikon this gem would not have cost less than 3000 euros, and I do not exaggerate. Both are "only" 2x zoom and also one from telephoto to telephoto and the other from wide angle to wide angle, moreover without the additional lenses that would have imposed a possible VR. nikon_afs200-500_f5-6vrNikon AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 E ED VR

Pros: Excellent VR, excellent sharpness, price, maximum constant aperture on all focal lengths

Cons: engineering, tripod mount foot

Opinion: I arrive good last to have my say on this lens that, thanks to the decidedly very low price, has had a huge success and has brought many fans closer to the world of long fires. You immediately appreciate the extremely efficient VR (shooting at 1/125 is to be considered a standard), a pleasant brilliance of colors and excellent sharpness. It is a lens with the right weight for that range of focal lengths but this weight is poorly distributed, passing from 200 to 500 the lens lengthens and not a little making everything not very harmonious and above all not very stable. And again, the zoom ring - although very precise - is too demultiplied and this makes it slow, you have to turn a lot to go from minimum to maximum focal length. Personally I have equipped my zoommon with neoprene cover (solid color or camouflage does the same, the important thing is to protect it), a 95 Sigma Protector filter (excellent both mechanically and optically even if extremely expensive), an excellent carrying case (Nikon provides an indecent bag equal to that of the fifty, only longer. On Amazon you will find an excellent JJC Lens at 22 euros, in case contact me and send you the link) and above all to collar with Arca Swiss attack (a nice aluminum iShoot collar always taken on Amazon, 52 euros and pass the fear!). Yes, because Nikon still provides the foot with the anachronistic old attack that no one uses anymore. I forgot, the hood is really light and I proceeded to cover it internally with black velvet adhesive paper. Put on in this way, the 200-500 becomes extremely competitive and attractive while maintaining an absolutely unapproachable value for money. Of course, the 500 PF is even sharper and swings freehand in a much better way but... It costs almost three times as much and doesn't have the versatility of a zoom! And finally let's talk about the dilemma that always haunts those who think of this lens: excluding a priori the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary which is nothing special, is it better the Nikon 200-500 or the Sigma 150-600 Sport? So let's say once and for all that the Nikon is very very good but that the Sport is a little better on all focal lengths. The problem is that the Sport can only be used on a tripod (and of course with a nice Gimbal head) while with the Nikon - if you are robust - some hand shots you can do it. So in the shed or in any case fixed position the Sport, for everything else the Nikon, especially if coupled with the superlative D500. Then, of course, do as you please...

zeiss_milvus15_f2-8Zeiss Milvus 15mm f/2.8

Pros: It's a Zeiss Milvus, no need to say more

Cons: Scandalous front and rear caps as usual

Opinion: It is the reinterpretation of the 15mm Classic, the look is updated and now it is decidedly more modern, the mc treatment of the front lens varies, the optical scheme remains exactly the same while tropicalization is introduced. And the Milvus are tropicalized for real, they are not limited to the rubber ring on the bayonet (as Nikon does ...) but have o-rings on all joints. Precisely these o-rings, however, have the consequence of making manual focusing less magical compared to the Classic series. Mind you, the maf is always excellent and beautifully multiplied, the tactile pleasure is safeguarded but .. with the Classics more! The optical yield is obviously identical to the previous model so splendid, sharpness from edge to edge and brilliance of the color table. The vignetting is also the same but this is a distinctive feature of the Zeiss wide angles, those who know the brand know it perfectly. The outlay necessary to take home such a gem is considerable but, in my opinion, the quality-price ratio is more than correct. All glass and metal, when you have a Zeiss in your hand there is nothing for anyone...

zeiss_milvus18_f2-8Zeiss Milvus 18mm f/2.8

Pros: It's a Zeiss

Cons: The usual crappy front and back caps

Opinion: Some Milvus (50mm f 1.4 - 18mm f 2.8 - 85mm f 1.4 - 35mm f 1.4) have been totally redesigned by Zeiss and the difference between these and the counterparts of the previous Classic ZE-ZF.2 series are really embarrassing, like switching from an old tube monitor to a modern 5k. Specifically, this 18mm is a spectacle of lens, the sum of everything a digital photographer could want: very little distortion, high sharpness and microcontrast, very pleasant blur, small size and weight. Materials of excellence, all glass and brushed metal, finishes of very high quality, unattainable. In my Milvus layette (it is that of the holidays, on weekdays I use Art and Nikon) this beautiful 18 has advantageously gone to support the Milvus 15mm in the super-wide angle sector. Defects? Well, vignetting for both but nothing irreparable, and those who know the Zeiss know that this defect is congenital of the brand. To close, as always when it comes to Milvus highly recommended lens for all lovers of optics and mechanics of the highest level and of course for those who make aesthetics a priority, handling one of these works of art triggers an unquantifiable lust on these pages ...

nikon_afs8-15fisheyeNikon AF-S 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5 E ED Fisheye

Pros: Good sharpness, originality of the project

Cons: The front lens very exposed but this is inevitable, uselessness of the project

Opinion: This lens is very good, sharpness adequate to 45 mpxl, excellent project, but ... What's the use? And let me explain: under 14mm (focal length under which you must also remove the hood) the image is no longer full frame but rather spherical and, to be honest, the photo obtained seems to have been taken with a mobile phone. Does this encourage creativity? Maybe, I don't know, but I see that those like me who buy it take a few test photos at 8mm and then use it practically always at 15mm. What can I say, in my opinion this is not slow to buy and if the monkey just does not let you sleep, well, take out the monkey itself! The old 16mm AFD optically is not very far away but clutters little, weighs little, costs little and moreover its robustness is proverbial, it is built in healthy metal alloy and will never creak in your backpack. In short, that of 8-15 is certainly a courageous project, a bit like that of Defocus 105 and 135. And just like DCs, once you buy it, you're wondering, "What do I do with it now?"

nikon_d6Nikon D6

Pros: Nikon's latest professional SLR, no need to add anything else

Cons: Maybe weight and bulk, definitely the price

Opinion: Does it make sense to buy a D6 in 2022, in the Z era? For me yes, so I gave back the D5 and took the new flagship. In my choice they played both the emotional side towards the brand (in my opinion the D6 will be the last of Nikon's professional SLRs, the mechanics cost too much, the production cost of a Z9 is equivalent to a third) and the cutting-edge features. Compared to the D5 the improvements are there, and they are tangible: thanks to the new Expeed they greatly improve the jpg, the excellent AF of the D5 is further improved and now the new D6 really focuses on the impossible! And it does not end here, the propensity to high ISO (already very high in the D5) is even more exasperated, here you shoot at 12,800 ISO pulling out rows that seem to be taken at 200 and you record colors that with low lights the eye does not see, an impressive thing !! Then there is the shutter speed increased by 2 fps, the burst looks disturbingly similar to that of the UZI. And I will not go into the merits of wifi, bluetooth, GPS and video, stuff that I do not use. Personally I don't really like the dovetail system of releasing the optical viewfinder, and unfortunately the D6 inherits it from the D5. Nikon introduced it with the obvious intention of applying additional accessories but this means that the slide itself can no longer be disassembled, so those like me who are used to replacing it with the DK-17M magnifying eyepiece must necessarily desist. What can I say, far from me to advocate the purchase (official Nital today passes the 6500 euros), however I must admit that after 40 years of Nikon such a SLR I would never have imagined. And those who claim that between D5 and D6 changes little are very wrong, it means that they have not tried one or the other at all, or maybe both. And to close I allow myself a tip for those who already have it at home: keep it tight, the D6 is forever and machines like this will not build anymore!

nikon_500_f5-6pf_vrNikon AF-S 500mm f/5.6 E PF ED VR

Pros: Footprint, weight, excellent optical quality

Cons: Price, hood, tripod mount

Opinion: Great optics, and said by one who for decades has cordially hated Fresnel lenses is all to say! Incredible portability, excellent optical performance in an absolute sense. Maybe mine will be a lucky specimen but in terms of sharpness it has very little to envy to the 500 FL, against which it loses more than anything else in bokeh. We are therefore talking about a very different championship than the one played by 200-500 or 80-400, and for this reason the price is justified even if high. Wielding it is still a pleasure, VR works wonders and you can shoot quietly freehand. The TC 14 is its natural companion, it loses a trifle to TA but already closing a stop turns out to be transparent. The AF is loose but maybe it's better that way, Nikon's AF engines are either slow or die early. I would not dwell on the hood, that it sucks is established, everyone wrote it. What really me off is instead the attack foot to the tripod: archaic, anachronistic and moreover poorly balanced, to be replaced immediately with an ark swiss foot. The successful upgrade consists in equipping our 500 with a nice lenscoat (the original US one, not the Easy Chinese covers ...). I don't know what else to say, I love this lens (with my little brother 300 PF is among my untouchables), I use it on a beautiful carbon gimbal with the D6 of which it is a natural complement, and every time it gives me a great lust ... Highly recommended, grade 10 laude!

Pros: Sharpness, bokeh, solidity, material quality, AF calibration possibility

Cons: I could say bulk and weight but in reality they are related to its robustness, those who buy it are aware of it

Opinion: It is one of my favorite Art/Sport and for two or 3 months it lived in my house with the Nikon 70/200 FL. Splendid optical rendering for both, absolutely indistinguishable the files produced by the two lenses but, given the superiority of the Sport on some fronts (made in Japan, extreme robustness, swiss ark bracket, possibility of perfectly calibrating the AF over 4 distances via USB dock), the Nikon FL has clearly gone on the market. This is a lens dedicated to those who absolutely want the best in terms of optical and mechanical performance, who are not frightened in the face of important dimensions and weight, and above all are aware that to obtain such performance you have to sacrifice 2-3 hours for the necessary tuning of the AF. Otherwise forget it, take the original canon or nikon plasticone strictly made in china and live quietly ...

Pros: Sharpness, bokeh, speed and accuracy af, price

Cons: Frankly nothing, the weight (1.2 Kg) is related to the goodness of the materials and the complexity of the project

Opinion: I have several Art and Milvus optics, I'm not one who is easily impressed. But this 40 left me really stunned, especially comparing it with the excellent 35 and 50 of the same series. Here everything is amplified further, from sharpness to bokeh, to the lack of coma and flare, let's say that you can clearly see the descent from the cine version. Big, massive and obviously heavy (well, it's an Art), on the d850 it returns very sharp frames from edge to edge even at TA, it's really embarrassing! The maf is instantaneous and very precise, the hood is then spectacular with its beautiful release button and the lower rubber ring. The price then is really competitive, if it had been branded Nikon you would have found it on sale at 2500 euros. Highly recommended for all lovers of definitive lenses, provided that they are arranged - to enjoy maximum performance - to the always appropriate calibration with the specific dock. Obviously not recommended for those who judge Art 35 and 50 to be big and heavy. Yes, because this superb 40 is not as big as you see it in the picture but more, much more ...

Pros: So exceptional that it pleases even those who usually criticize - with prejudice and often without even owning them - all the other Art

Cons: Absolutely nothing

Opinion: Great feeling of solidity due to the richness of materials and the excellent assembly, I find our 135 well balanced despite the weight. The optical performance is from another planet, unreachable sharpness (I can well say having at home also the other top, the 105 Art) already at TA, bokeh very but very good (although less than 105), great detachment between the floors, absolutely neutral colors as per art tradition. It's so sensational that I wouldn't know how to explain it to those who don't own it, but after spending a fortune on goals I can say that a lens like this had never happened to me, top ever! I close as always I happen for the Art recommending strongly the calibration on the 4 distances with the Sigma dock, provided that you want to fully enjoy all this abundance...

Pros: It's an Art, there's little to add

Cons: The usual cinesoid caps, for those who do not know them are in line with those Zeiss

Opinion: Due premise: I do not get off the mountains, I am not one that impresses easily, I come from the Nikon 14-24 and the Distagon 15 mm. This is well established, as far as I am concerned I can safely say that the 14 Art is by far the most amazing super-enlargement that has happened to me in my hands. I also own the Art 20 and 24 of which I am very satisfied but on the 14th... Well, the 14 seems to be built on Mars! Heavy but not bulky, all in all it wields quite well, it sports an enviable sharpness even at TA, it is a well of light that allows you to safely shoot in prohibitive conditions. Materials and construction of excellence, can certainly be called a definitive lens. The maf must be absolutely calibrated with the dock and once adjusted on the 4 distances it no longer moves and is of surgical precision, with good peace of the day those who say that you have to go back to adjusting it from time to time. Lens made to last and to be used with extreme satisfaction also and especially with megapixels. Proudly made in Japan and you see, except for the caps I imagine to be Chinese.... Compared to the excellent Nikon 24 f 1.4 (I've owned it for several years) it's drier, less "dreamy" but absolutely more rigorous, more solvent, and all this at a cost of a third compared to the Nikon! The maf must be absolutely calibrated with the dock and once adjusted on the 4 distances it no longer moves and is of surgical precision, with good peace of the day those who say that you have to go back to adjusting it from time to time. nikon_afs58gNikon AF-S 58mm f/1.4 G

Pros: Humanity, bokeh, color range, tonal passages

Cons: It is a particular lens of not immediate understanding

Opinion: I confess that I find it hard to review the 58ne after saying plague and horns for years. I owned two different specimens both for a very short time, I had (and still have) in the house the 50 Art and the 50 Milvus and this plasticine lently I never considered at the level of my two samples, if I went to make a comparison for sharpness the 58 seemed broken! Recently, however, I bought it back and forced myself to try to understand it. I discovered (it's meant to say...) that it's not a blade, a measuring tool, it wasn't designed for that. It is rather a brush that Nikon puts in the photographer's hand to invite him to give vent to his artistic vein. The fantastic and sometimes surreal bokeh, the tonal passages, the naturalness of the colors, well, in short, you find yourself looking at the photos with a different eye and the term sharpness suddenly loses importance. Of course it is not an easy lens, of those that make you immediately fall in love. And it costs a little while considering it's nothing more than a plastic and it doesn't even have special lenses. And yet... but I see that in my house I live very well with my samples, using it a lot of fun and its peculiarities lead me to say that it is the best 50-58 ever pulled out of Nikon. So is it to buy? Given the abnormal cost I would recommend a preventative test and - if you like - a purchase on the used, you will find brand new specimens on a thousand euros. My third 58 will also be the last one, this one I hold tight!

nikon_70-200_f2-8e_flNikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR

Pros: AF speed, lightness, excellent resaleability

Cons: structure dangerously similar to the plastic structure of the 24-70 VR, buttons

Opinion: Good AF speed (but not higher than VR2), excellent VR, excellent optical performance but I can honestly say, having owned them at the same time, that such performance – VR aside – is absolutely INDISTINGUISHABLE from those of VR2. And I say this in the face of several double-blind sessions performed with two different groups here in Rome. Those who describe different performances between the two have not had them together at the same time, that is, they have problems with visus, or they have to justify to themselves a compulsive purchase, or even is a fanatical Taliban of the brand. PRO optics are those that resist the stresses of working activity allow the professional to take home photos to earn the loaf of loaf and this is absolutely not the case. The VR2 was externally constructed of magnesium alloy and was clearly seen while the FL resembles a plastic, that solidity is a distant memory, the only part that in my eyes appears solid is the bracket that also this time seems to ignore that there is the Arca Swiss attack. The buttons on such a short focal lens are absolutely useless to me. Always the Taliban of the brand like to point out that the breathing focus has been eliminated: nothing could be more false, the FB is still there although very small. But the FB of the VR2 was absolutely not a fault, it was part of the project specifications and allowed you to shoot even inside cramped spaces, such as a small room... Therefore, if you take every emphasis, those who today consider buying the FL still buy an excellent SEMI PRO optics that, if they do not take a few bottarella on the barrel (the de-financing of the lenses on the plasticons of a certain length is always around the corner) will give nice satisfactions. It will give so to speak, given the cost of the official product. NB: I now have it and I keep it, I am all in all satisfied, I took off the VR2 before it fell in price but, I repeat, on the dense sensor of the 850 the performance is absolutely similar ...

nikon_afs105_f1-4Nikon AF-S 105mm f/1.4 E ED

Pros: Great sharpness, easy resale

Cons: cost, weight, footprint, flare, color drift

Opinion: Hyper-charged lens (for what it's worth), for the first period of use is also able to enhance: the af engine is quite fast, excellent sharpness and that sense of presence that makes the enthusiast who shelled out a kidney feel "photographer" to buy it. But don't be fooled by the over-enthusiastic reviews of those who have never had anything better in their hands. Because then... then you start to make him fleas and you see that the flare he takes is really important, the colors that at first - thanks to the enthusiasm and brilliance given by the dwarf crystals - looked beautiful actually veer sometimes towards a green and sometimes towards a magenta, depending on the light conditions. Embarrassed by this discovery you continue to fleas him and discover - naturally testing in double blindness - that the portrait lenses you have in the house are all superior, while costing them all less (Zeiss 100 Makro Planar, Zeiss 135 Apo Sonnar, Art 105 f 1,4). And superior in everything from sharpness both in the center and on the frame edge, to the bokeh, to the color fidelity. In addition to everything the packaging is very poor, in practice the usual box with a new cardboard support for optics, this time they abolished the classic transparent plastic shell. From a lens of this price you would expect a worthy case, such as that of 24-70 or 300 PF and instead no, there is the usual bag that you also find on the 50 f 1.8, as if to say that to misery there is never an end! And at this point you get like a beast, and the only thing that consoles you is you bought it second-hand and that - thankfully - there are a lot of Nikonist Taliban around ready to get it out of your hand! And then it turns out that anyway you keep it because in the nikon house of better there is not, because art weighs and clutters a bang and finally because the zeiss do not have the automatic AF. Sic transit gloria mundi, I keep giving money to nikon but frankly I don't know until...

sigma_20_f1-4artSigma 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

Pros: Great in everything, and not just in size!

Cons: As usual, caps are outrageous, obligatory to replace them

Opinion: Being in possession of other Art lenses (14, 24, 50, 105 and 135) and having verified how much this series manages to enhance the mpxls of my 850, I set out in search of another excellent wide angle. And so I found the Art 20 mm f 1.4, a monstrous optics that made me fall in love. I say immediately that even for the 20 is worth what I wrote for the 14th, there is nothing in the Nikon house that comes even close to him. Unique brightness, consistency, bokeh, absolute sharpness, three-dimensionality, detachment of mass planes in focus, management of color nuances. In short, the holy grail of wide-angles! I'm not sure if you're going to be able to do that, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Otherwise forget, don't waste time and settle for Nikon, Art is not for you. Why am I going to go and say this? I explain: several users have the courage to write "maf perfect, mine is not to be calibrated" but then when you go to see many photos on these reviews you realize that these gentlemen are blind, or do not know the meaning of focus, of the two each. Art are measuring instruments and for their characteristics and their speed the fine calibration of the maf is mandatory, period. Then don't say I didn't warn you....

sigma_24-35_f2artSigma 24-35mm f/2.0 DG HSM Art

Pros: It seems to use a fixed, and this for a zoom I think is the nicest compliment

Cons: Painful caps at the Zeiss level, but just change them...

Opinion: With this Art sigma's japs have really surpassed themselves, they have pulled out an incredible zoom (the brightest ever) that allows you to work on the classic focal 24, 28 and 35 as if you had a fixed. Yes, because the quality in each of these focal points is equal to or higher than that of the best, take a ride on the test of the 24-35 Nikon attack on Optical Limits (formerly Photozone) and then we talk about it. Embarrassing clarity, three-dimensionality and versatility (although it's just a 2x), unimpeachable assembly and excellent materials combined at an extremely advantageous price make it an essential optics for any lover of grandangles. What? Weighs? Well, it's an Art, and those like me who love this series don't really ask the problem. On my 850 it is perfectly balanced, very ergonomic and deadly, on yours you just have to try it... I recommend it, and as always I add "if you have the patience and expertise to perform the fine calibration of the maf with the appropriate Sigma dock". Otherwise forget it, don't waste time and settle for the Nikons, the Art is not for you. Why do I push myself to say that? I'll explain: several users have the courage to write "maf perfect, mine is not to be calibrated" but then when you go to see many photos on these reviews you realize that these gentlemen are blind, or do not know the meaning of focus , of the two o's. sigma_105_f1-4artSigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

Pros: If I start writing all the pros we make old....

Cons: Just looking for them, Sigma uses the same hideous caps as Zeiss. But just change them....

Opinion: I have the Nikon 105 f 1.4 and I also own the Apo Sonnar 135, and both of them can only say I am absolutely satisfied. But the 105 Art has really changed my life, since I took it changed the way I photograph, my 850 seems to have earned about twenty mpx! How to describe it? Well, you could say she's the mother of all optics, and she wouldn't sin with exaggeration. Exciting sharpness at TA all over the frame, legend bokeh, heart attack tops, gorgeous and delicate colors, fine construction, noble materials (think the only lampshade is in carbon-injected thermoplastics). It is big, indeed huge, but nevertheless very elegant. It weighs a bang but you only notice it at the end of the session, while you shoot the libidine is at stratospheric levels that you do not feel the weight. A comparison with 105 Nikon? With all due respect to an excellent lens I say it would be unlikely, Art is winning absolutely everything. What to say, also recommended to those who do not particularly like the portrait, if you were looking for the absolute lens you found it, and also at a good price! Beware though, if you have seen it only on the net wait to order it, go and see it and take it in your hand because it is not only big, more! In good need it does not even fit into the backpack, but rest assured that you will love it, this is the lens of life. Take it in your hand and enjoy the tactile and visual sensations, savor a few shots and then ask yourself at point-blank range: how much would this lens cost if it had the brand cnon or the nikon brand? Well, I assure you that you will come to the conclusion that it would not be enough twice as much as the palious 1350 euros it costs! It's hard for everyone, which is mandatory with megapixels, and as always I add "if you have the patience and the expertise to perform the fine calibration of the maf with the special Sigma dock". Otherwise forget, don't waste time and settle for Nikon, Art is not for you. Why am I going to go and say this? I explain: several users have the courage to write "maf perfect, mine is not to be calibrated" but then when you go to see many photos on these reviews you realize that these gentlemen are blind, or do not know the meaning of focus, of the two each. zeiss_milvus_50mZeiss Milvus 50mm f/2M

Pros: Materials, assembly, extreme sharpness, bokeh, manual very accurate MAF

Cons: Rrmartin 1:2

Opinion: The Lemte is fantastic, there is little to say, and the rest we talk about a Milvus, 700 grams of noble materials assembled to perfection, Tropicalization Vera (on that of Nikon and Canon is better to roll out a pitchy veil), excellent surface treatment of lenses, A resolution and a detail that solve in an embarrassing way the most pixellated sensors while maintaining (I think is a unique case in the scope of the objectives) a moving blurred. Focusing on the Milvus is a pleasure, the long demultiplied helicoid allows a MAF with extreme precision. Ideal lens for generalist use, outputs only with the 50 Makro Planar and you do everything with extreme satisfaction, its playback ratio of 1:2 allows you shots that no Chinese plasticone could afford and the whole thing with Zeiss colors, Zeiss three-dimensionality and absurd sharpness. As for the ratio of reproduction I would have preferred the 1:1 but you can not have everything, and besides the real macro is made with tubes, bellows and Flash dedicated, at that point the lightness of a plasticone makes it successful. In short, it is an incredible lens that knows no rivals in the limited range of 50-58 mm, a lens that you fall in love immediately, a lens to buy also because the value for money is unbelievable. And to finish the usual advice: as soon as bought replace the plugs (the Zeiss ones have always sucked) and put the Nikon, at that point you will be ready to have fun with your new Makro Planar!

zeiss_135_f2Zeiss ZE/ZF.2 Apo Sonnar T* 135mm f/2

Pros: Everything you've always dreamed of in a lens, and all together!

Cons: Little stuff, the usual front and back caps not level

Opinion: It is very difficult to review a Zeiss-Cosina, who has never possessed them does not have valid terms of comparison, then quibble on the 135 Apo Sonnar without using Hyperbolas is really a feat! We simply Talk about an incredible lens that has no rivals in its focal and perhaps not even in the other, a masterpiece of optics and mechanics that can make you fall in love even those who do not like the manual MAF. The sharpness is already astonishing to TA, and from edge to edge, leaves really open-mouthed! The colors are the absolutely natural of Zeiss with nuances that manage to move, the bokeh is textbook. Try to imagine the sharpness of the Nikon 200 F 2 coupled to the fuzzy creamy and silky of the Nikon 85 F 1.4 AFD, add a color palette that more realistic you can not, and here you are in the hands of the 135 Apo Sonnar! Do not look for comparisons, there is nothing like this, not the good 135 Art or the excellent Nikon 105 f 1.4, let alone the Nikon Defocus that the comparison are Knick. The Price is relatively high but absolutely beneficial if we think about quality. Handling The Ring of MAF is a thing of initiates, it is demultiplied to make an incredible and very soft, fluid all'unlikely, a pleasure in absolute. Lastly, I wholeheartedly recommend the Classic series, at least for this model. The MAF Ring of the Milvus, accomplices the O-rings of tropicalization, is slightly less soft, less lustful, and this also has its importance. For Those who are already Zeiss users I spend only two words: this lens is better than the phenomenal albeit 100 Makro Planar, and I don't add anything else...

Pros: Balancing, materials, true tropicalization, sharpness, beauty and realism of colors, price more than honest

Cons: Vignetting to TA and the usual front and rear caps, which really suck

Opinion: I read in amazement the review of Filippetti below, but it is obvious that they gave him a broken specimen. Our 35 is truly a high quality, solid and reliable handyman lens, capable of uncovering a truly unparalleled palette of colors. Certainly does not have the three-dimensionality of the Milvus 21 in the surgical hyperdefinition of the 100 Makro Planar But, gentlemen, here we talk about a 35 mm and therefore must be assessed in its context! The judgement I can give is very high, in my house has climbed in a Amen the excellent 35 F 1, 4g Nikon. The problem of the milvus is always the same, the more you buy and the more you want to have!

Pros: Sensor, viewfinder, XQD

Cons: The SD card

Opinion: After having owned and used virtually all Nikon FX (D5 excluded) I can certainly say that the 850 is the Summa of the know how of the Japanese company. Galactic viewfinder if observed smoothly, if we then add the DK-17m takes you to paradise! Spectacular sensor, allows unthinkable recoverables on the raw and gives a sharpness that I thought impossible, if you use it with the optics that deserves to understand what I'm talking about. AF improved a lot and then there are a lot of features that I don't use, but that tell me to be trendy... I forgot, well did nikon to equip it with slots for the exceptional XQD, with the 2933x the car takes the flight, take off, and I'm not exaggerating. In fact, they could put two XQD slots and avoid the SD, old junk that has now made its course. And to those who object that the XQD cost'm opposing counsel that the 850 is certainly not cheap and that, if you want to give meaning to the money pulled out for purchase, you have to spend on appropriate cards and optics. Otherwise better a used 610, and go to the sail...

Pros: Optics kill monkeys, put it in the kit and do not think about anything else....

Cons: Both front and rear caps are indecent

Opinion: I recently sold the Distejon 21 Classic ZF. 2 to move to Milvus. The characteristics are similar (even if the Milvus seems to me even more insensitive to flare, perhaps the most modern treatment), so I carry what already written for the old model "what else to add to everything written by other owners? I have recently converted all the Nikon kit to switch to Cosina-Zeiss and I am delighted. Specifically regarding the wide I had the 14-24 and the 24 mm 1.4, both outclassed from this optical masterpiece. The design is old, indeed ancient, but the results are before the eyes of all: three-dimensionality on everything and then a lot of sharpness, openness of the shadows, bokeh and much more, to end with the immense satisfaction that you feel using this masterpiece of Mechanical and Optical Engineering! A must in absolute, I'm sorry only to have lost years with the plastics.... "

Cons: Perhaps the clutter, but just wanting to look for the hair in the egg ....

Opinion: A couple of weeks ago I decided to change my 100 Makro Planar ZF.2 Classic to get the new Milvus. That the new series is waterproofed (but for real, not like the nikon ...) you all know that the new Milvus is even more resolvent than the excellent Classic I discovered it alone, otherwise the features are similar and therefore I propose again what I have already written of the ZF.2 "I tell the truth, I have always found so well with my beautiful Nikon AFS-G fixed all 1.4 (24, 35, 85) from never having felt the need to try Cosina-Zeiss's manual focus stuff, celebrated that it was - on the contrary, I've always seen it as a radical chic stuff, as a bar jockeys ... And then ... destiny wanted to punish me by letting me drop a good chance to buy this blessed makro planar! I was relied on at the first contact, finally it was back to touch metal and glass as in the good times of the AIs, and then the test, which confirmed what good says about it: about 36 mpxl I found sharpness beyond measureaccompanied by excellent bokeh, high contrast and 3D effect, bright but real colors. It must be said that for general use to center the maf at TA is really a lottery with the slides of modern SLR, however, closing just do not have problems. To finish the price that, altino altogether, turns out more than appropriate for what this wonder can offer "

Pros: Monkey kills monkeys, put it in the outfit and don't think about anything else....

Cons: Rear cap, to be replaced immediately with a Nikon or canon

Opinion: Absolutely gorgeous lens, I came from good stuff like the Nikon 14-24 but here I discovered a really different world! Sharpness at very high levels already at TA, spatiality, fantastic colors, three-dimensionality, incredible robustness, compactness, right weight. Built in a flawless manner with precious materials, manually focus closer with this jewel is a real pleasure. Absolutely indispensable, it is worth every penny of what it costs, and I think that every real enthusiast of optics deserves to have it in outfit

Pros: When everything is GREAT, it is difficult to find a feature that stands out on the others ....

Cons: Stoppers both front and back scandalous as on all Cosina-Zeiss, including Milvus

Opinion: What else to add to everything written by the other owners? I have recently converted all Nikon equipment to move on to Cosina-Zeiss and I am very happy with it. Specifically for the wide-angle I was 14-24 and 24 mm 1.4, both outclassed by this masterpiece of optics. the design is old, even ancient, but the results are in front of everyone's eyes: three-dimensionality on everything and then a lot of clarity, opening of the shadows, bokeh and much more, to end with the immense satisfaction that you try using this engineering masterpiece mechanics and optics! A must in absolute, I'm sorry only to have lost years with plasticoni ....

Pros: Exceptional sharpness, realism, bokeh, detachment of floors and much more ....

Cons: Difficult to find the cons, I did not succeed

Opinion: This and the Milvus 50 mm f 1.4 are the lenses that the fans of the brand clamored for! And not by chance on the reviews are compared only to the Otus, which are very close to yield. The difference with the previous ZF.2 is abysmal, not by chance are the only two to have been completely redesigned. The 85 needless to say it is scary, it is a deadly realism, it seems a measuring instrument, it excels in practically everything. It would be wrong to think of using it only for portrait, it is with a generalist use that you really appreciate it. Physically it is big and heavy, it is undeniable, and the maf is strictly manual, but all of this takes second place compared to the exciting performance of this masterpiece. Personally I recommend it to all those who love technically perfect photos as they thought and appreciate the great work of mechanical engineering and optics that characterizes this brand

Pros: Everything, absolutely, and at an unreachable level

Cons: Lens cap caps a little underlie

Opinion: It's definitely one of the most amazing lenses I've ever had in my hands, the best 50 ever. I went through the noct, until a month ago I had the excellent Art, but in front of this milvus I was forced to review all my parameters! Absolutely amazing sharpness all over the frame, fantastic bokeh, True waterproofing, noble materials (only the weight says a lot...), beautiful Otus style design, precision mechanics of other times. And besides it costs even little, go see the price of the Plasticone 58 Nikon, then compare them in the field and we laugh. This is the 50 mm that fans of the brand were clamors for! And not by chance on the reviews is compared only to 55 Otus, which as surrender is very close. The difference with the old fifty ZF. 2 is abysmal, not by chance the new has been completely redesigned. The old 50 mm ZF. 2 was a Planar while this is design Distagon just like the Otus, and I guarantee you see it! What about, 10 praise Laude, inevitable in a serious outfit!

Pros: Vr

Cons: Price, plastic everywhere, optical performance

Opinion: For years those like me who used the 24-70 with satisfaction wanted an upgrade with VR, and now they have it. It is a pity, however, that the stabilizer has "gifted" 5 more lenses in the optical scheme (from 15 to 20), and this is reflected in the performance: this optics is yes more uniform up to the edges, but at the level of sharpness never reaches the smooth 24-70. Worse also the barrel, the magnesium alloy for the vile plastic has been abandoned. VR on the other hand is very good, but it alone certainly doesn't work wonders...

Pros: Good yield, versatility, professional lens

Cons: Mechanical delicacy

Opinion: Slow a little overrated, owes its luck to the fact that it is considered part of the triad. If they had put it on the list at 1000 euros it would have also deserved a nice vote, say a 9. But it's certainly not phenomenal, without going far just compare it - optically and mechanically - to the old 28-70 f 2.8 to get hurt. The 24-70 has from its, if nothing else, that the af works and does not die suddenly, but the general construction is indeed modest, just a bottarella to find yourself with one of the hardened di swallows. The sharpness, especially in the middle, is very good for what is needed (this is, or at least should be, a work optics) but certainly those who seek the maximum of sharpness from a 36 or more mpxl must look elsewhere. In the field Nikon remains indispensable cmq for ceremonials, events and whatnot also because the new 24-70 VR, in addition to being a plastic, is also inferior optically. The cost is finally disproportionate, just take this and at the same time the 70-200 VR2 to understand that the latter definitely plays in another league. In short, for me this is the optics to do ceremonies or reports not too hard. I read that almost all the users who bought it release rave reviews but that does not take away my sleep, in my opinion they are unproven or have never tried really level lenses...

Cons: Cost, certainly related to the value of the object but anyway as for all the zeiss

Opinion: I'm telling the truth, I've always found it so good with my beautiful Nikon AFS-G all f 1.4 (24, 35, 85) since I've never felt the need to try Cosina-Zeiss's manual focus stuff, celebrated it was. It is necessary to say that general purpose centering the TA maf is really a lottery with the slides of modern reflexes, but closing just does not have any problems. Until about a year ago, when it came to production, it cost about 1800 euros Fowa, namely regular import, and that price is nothigh enough for what the optic returns. How did it end? Pros: Indestructible body, exposure meter, sensor, burst

Cons: Cost, weight

Opinion: I can only repeat what I have just written about the D4 review. "There is not much to say, it is an exceptional machine. Amazing aluminum and magnesium body, commands in the right place and, albeit illuminated, the ability to use both CF and fast XQD, galactic viewfinder, really handy grip, inexhaustible battery, shooting speed similar to a machine gun, shutter tested for 400,000 shots, excellent AF even with poor light, sensor designed for Mars (only 16 mpxl but snaps at 6400 ISO and looks like that's 400 ...) and so much so why buy one used with a few clicks today, in the year of grace 2017, can be one of the best deals for a loving cameraman or any professional. "I add that on D4s, af is still improved, that the sensor looks - albeit a little bit - more pixellated. Automatic white balance and ISO cars have reached superlative levels, matrix precision is now perfect, new bacteriamore powerful. All praise and no magagne? Well, no, unfortunately Mom nikon has signed us: before I take my I have tried a lot and there is not one, say one, which has the af tailed to the millimeter. Many do not notice it because they go out of their way by closing at f8 or higher, or because they are of good mouth and content themselves, but such a measuring instrument can not work that way. And then there's only a TA calibration (but wait for 15-point corrections) or, better, rally the AF group into assistance. I had all the Nikon FX and I especially enjoyed the DF's lightness and the unparalleled beauty of the files produced by the D810, but the D4s is a step above all, its balance is proverbial, in my opinion it's the ultimate machine. .. Opinion: A fantastic lens from every angle and extremely versatile, it fits your way of photographing and adapts to the unbelievable. Sublime chromi, quite sharp already in TA becomes a blade af 2, amazing tridimensionality, bokeh very enjoyable with that minimal nervous that reflects its personality. Excellent construction, inside is all metal and the covering polymer is of high quality. I read that somebody complains of the weight, in fact he is very good and is well balanced. I took it after comparing it with the old AIs 35mm f 1.4 and with the corresponding Sigma Art and Zeiss which, although very good, suffer in one way or another of the overcoat complex too. And above all they do not have the magic, because it's the one that makes the difference between our Nikon and the others. Pros: Materials, assembly

Cons: its sharpness, lens hood metal

Opinion: After having owned several years (now I have the G version) I think I know the lens in question enough. Considerable doubt the precious materials as well as assembly and design. Scomodissimo the metal lens hood, put on the contrary it locks into the lens and is placed to when dealing with not a little space in your pack. The yield is very old style along the lines of the two defocus 105 and 135: correct, for charity, but does not shine for some definition and clarity. You 'absolutely enjoyable on 24:16 Mpxl but already about 24 shows the rope, then if you try it on 36 of 810'll understand just because Mom nikon saw fit to upgrade the optical design. Aficionados of this lens like to say that it is clear at the center but this is a joke, even the optical two-bit are sharp centrally! Also on the difference with the AFS 810 85 f f 1.8g 1.4G is absolutely dramatic, the comparison is unequal and sees the two equally modern optical contrast and razor sharp images throughout the frame already in TA. defocusedIt is good, for goodness sake, but even there I prefer to dell'1,4G. Pros: Extreme sharpness, lightness, cost

Cons: practically nothing, if you assume that the slightly poor plastic has become the standard of almost all nikkor

Opinion: I'm a lover of wide angles so in the house I have several, including zooms 14-24 and 16.35. Beautiful beasts, it's just to say, but in both the 24 mm focal is a bit of a weak point, in my opinion it is not satisfactory. So years ago I also bought the superlative 24 f 1.4 and was finally satisfied. This was until a few days ago, when I was presented with the excellent opportunity of a nice 24 mm f 1.8 with a month of life at an essential price. And of course I didn't give up.... I'm starting to say that the new little guy is built along the lines of 20 mm and 28 mm f 1.8, the usual plastic absolutely not eye-catching but the optical performance, well, those are really of absolute level! Extreme sharpness (not even comparable to that of the AfD 24 mm) from edge to edge, excellent bokeh, classic G-series colours and saturation. At TA loses little and nothing, it is absolutely a pleasure to use it in indoor conditions or cmq of low brightness. Yes, I'm falling in love with it. I can't say it's superior to the big brother 24 f 1.4, I only did empirical tests and, photographing already at 1.8, the difference I can't see. I repeat, it is not worth the big brother as cost, weight and footprint and above all performance, but it is well asserted and in my opinion is superior to anything else of equal range, 24 Art included.

Pros: Stratospheric quality, sharpness, blurring, return of colors

Cons: weight, for someone focus breathing

Opinion: Great optics, the nikon summa for that range of focal points. Professional, indestructible, built entirely of metal alloy in japan as it once was. It weighs, it's true, but the substance is there. The little brother 70-200 f 4 VR (I also have that, excellent lens for light use) is pre-10 very close but try to take a shot with the lens and you find yourself with at least one misaligned lens, the plastic is plastic and the physics is unavoidable... Focus breathing is a problem only for those who do not understand a stump. It is part of the project specifications, it is wanted and serves to allow the photographer to shoot even in a small environment as can be a room. It costs the right, we run about 800 euros difference with f4 and I guarantee you that there are all. Vote 10, it couldn't have been otherwise! MAY 2020 UPDATE: Taken from the monkey I also purchased the 70-200 FL. Magnetic diaphragm, fluorite lens etc.... it's a plastic! The optical performance between the two is absolutely indistinguishable in double-blind series trials, on the other hand the professional barrel in magnesium league we can forget about the AFL, as Nikon says. Result: I kept my beautiful VR II and immediately sold the FL, and I live happy....

Pros: Construction of other times, extraordinary mechanics, excellent optical design

Cons: baffling distortion, vignetting

Opinion: Truly a nice piece, materials and construction are those of the AFD 28 mm f 1.4 which is all to say. However, this goal has been unsuccessful and this depends on the high cost at launch and the performance that is not brilliant, albeit very good. TA vignetting is obvious, useless to deny it, you have to close a little bit. And the whirling distortion does not lack, but in my opinion it can also be used creatively. People tend to share it and compare it with AFD 20 mm, wrong big. Our 18 has 6 ounces more, building precious materials, in short, is quite another thing. Pros: Materials, assembly, optical quality

Cons: Scandalous front cover

Opinion: An inevitable goal in the kit of any serious evolutionary cameraman. It's absolutely amazing, you work with a very high optical quality with an infinite field angle! Built with noble materials, it also has 2 ED lenses inside. The yield is much better than that of 10.5 mm for DX, and absolutely not comparable to that of the various Russian fisheye. Many rear-mounted bayonet mount filters and one of them must always be mounted (preferably the UV one, called LC 37). The filters are supplied in a practical case of four, if you buy the used optics that are there! The 16 mm is compact and lightweight, and its output leaves open. The AF is fast, but this is normal for these types of lenses. The only note is the front cover, a real crap in plastic on the back of that one 14-24: ugly, uncomfortable and after a few months takes a game and there is no%3B to make it stay fixed to the optic. I have solved by cropping a velvety adhesive paper strip and attaching it to the inside of the cap, now perfectly closes. What else to say, those who love wide-ranging will not fail, even because the price is not prohibitive at all ... Pros: extreme quality

Cons: weight, front cap

Opinion: It's the top wide-angle optics, it's not discussed, other brands can only envy it. Excellent metal alloy construction, optical quality of the highest level and absolutely not comparable to that of the old AFD 14 mm f 2.8, absence of flare and ghost. The weight is certainly an element to be evaluated, with the machine around his neck he feels, personally depending on the outputs I alter it to the equally excellent 24 f 1.4. I don't like the front cap at all, the plastic with which it is built is definitely cheap and makes fun of it. And always the cap scratches the lampshade, which is fixed and built in cheap platicaccia. To make up for it I armed myself with a cutter and flattened the inner ribs of the cap, then glued a strip of Velcro along the inner circumference. Now the cap closes very well, it does not scratch the lampshade and the dust stays out... I don't even like the 24 mm yield, I make up for it using it under 20 mm. It is not a problem to use filters, I think that optics like this should not be disfigured by third-party glass and then we are digital, post-production what did they invent to do? Pros: sharpness, practicality of use, lightness, optical quality, VR

Cons: modest and indeed ugly lampshade

Opinion: This lens is Columbus' egg. Reducing brightness and adopting polymers in place of the metal alloy, the japs have pulled out a light, easily transportable optics with a yield very close to that of the 70-200 f 2.8 VR2 (and I can well say, having them both in the house). Almost the exact same sharpness, almost the same identical bokeh, and like the little brother asphalt severely the various old 80-200 (AFS included) as well as the 70-200 f 2.8 VR1 and the overrated 180 f 2.8. Our little one is also equipped with the latest version of the VR nikon which - try to believe - is absolutely prodigious. As robustness and consistency in performance the 70-200 f 2.8 VR 2 is certainly another thing but we are talking about a professional goal, while the f4, for when beautifully it can go, always remains a plastic. I think any evolved photoamateur should consider buying it, better at that price absolutely not found! Vote 10, absolutely undeserved. UPDATE OCTOBER 2019: After 4 years I am objectively over-happy with our plastic, the 70-200 FL rests at home and will probably go on the market, since I do not care about sports nor weddings and therefore the most brightness is for me Superfluous. The f 4 you can take it always with you, it's sharp to be scary, in short a real joker!

Pros: materials, Assembly, cost, light weight, built-in hood

Cons: not excellent sharpness, chromatic aberration, slow AF, F/B focus on almost all specimens, unprotected rear aperture

Opinion: This opinion I could copy it from that already expressed for 105 and 135 DC and synthesize so: noble materials assembled with care in the land of the rising sun, excellent with the analog but suffers from a rather old design — to take advantage of modern Digital it takes more. Has a great bokeh, ok, but only because resolution and sharpness are not exciting. Attention then don't leave it a minute without the rear CAP, the jap they forgot to give it a neutral protection immediately below the lens bayonet, basically the lens is opened until the diaphragm, if it turns a speck of dust you are sure that you will enter in the goal. The fine calibration in AF machine here is required, each piece has a story to itself. In my opinion this perspective makes sense in context vintage with a Df or D700, or with a low dosage of mpxl. Unfortunately this lens will not update (cannot build a contender for the 200 mm f 2) therefore is and remains the only fixed focal quality on that to use on our nikon. ATTENTION: this writer is not an influencer or a guru, and not one that downloads images of others from the network to impipparsi in relation to unlikely. I'm not a copy paste of reviews taken here and there on the net, if I speak of an object is only because I had it in the House as long as necessary (at least months) to try and figure it out. Pros: reproduction ratio 1: 1, sharpness, VR, materials, construction

Cons: nothing is practically perfect

Opinion: This amazing 105 AFS surpasses the 105 AFD, which has come to replace, this is a professional lens, you see and feel. Fully built in metal alloy, fast and accurate AF engine, VR efficient, unmatched optical quality, stratospheric, three-dimensional color rendering. It can also be used for general photos. What to say, this optic should not miss the nikon integral. Voting 10 with praise. nikon_50_f1-4gNikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4 G

Pros: cost, light weight

Cons: af afness, imprecision af, excessive softness

Opinion: What nikon has ever produced 50 mm 1.4 phenomenal knows everybody, but this probably beat them all. The autofocus is definitely scarce, inaccurate and extremely slow, and seems to be equipped with an absolutely underdrive engine. TA suffers from chromatic aberration and is overly soft, sharpness is not home. And you soon say that it has a good bokeh when the resolution is the one that is .... Absolutely not recommended on 36 mpxl machines and especially on the 810, you will be disappointed. Nikon (as well as others) does not give anything, this optics is expensive but is not worth more. If you want to stay in the house, I will pass the 50 1,8G, if you want the top gun of the category, you have to go to sigma Art. But this nikon 50 1,4G avoid it, please a favor to your photos ... rnATTENZIONE: chi he writes is not an influencer or a guru, nor does one that downloads other images from the network to impersonate unlikely comparisons. nikon_dfNikon Df

Pros: aesthetic old style, rendered high ISO

Cons: poor mpxl sensor, cost, materials, battery, memory card slots, impossibility to adopt BG, ergonomics, Auto ISO catastrophic function

Opinion: Having borrowed the sensor from the D4, obviously the yield to the high ISO is excellent, it works at 6400 with the noise of the 400 ISO, really a show. But that sensor also wraps the wings, if the 16 mpxl are good for a professional, however, are really a bit of a real cameraman in the year 2015. The look is deliberately retro (I suppose to capture those who have not yet gone digital) but the materials are not those of old analogs, plastic makes it master and the body, from what I have to touch with, is borrowed from the one of the D600-D610-D750, then entry level category. Ergonomics are not the best, going back to the rings after years of buttons is not easy. The front ring, the one on the front of the camera, is really hateful to operate. The top display disappeared, in its place there is only a tiny window. The battery is weak, suitable for a compact or little more. And it is not possibleto adopt a battery grip, at least original. For SD cards there is only one slot (in my opinion this is a serious lack ...) placed in the battery compartment, closed by a very delicate door. The AF certainly does not cry to the miracle, especially with low light, and of course there is no illuminator. The Auto ISO function is in my opinion unusable, af 8 and 1/500 in full sun had brought me to 1600 ISO, there is little to add. Photos do it for charity, but switching from a digital top to a Df can be traumatic. In return the price is amateur, really out of market for what is offered. I took it only to try it, I sold it without regret. rnVoto 6 but only for high ISO yield, by no means .... UPDATE: after a year and a half from the review of the first specimen possessed, while confirming the above impressions, I still regained a Df. Because? Well, despite having all the flaws in the world, of courseor (for me) the most enjoyable of Nikon's FF. Lightweight, stratospheric sensor, beautiful, it is a pleasure to come out with her and with a pair of light lenses. No longer the heavy backpack, but the Df in the neck and another lens in your pocket, really changes your life ... mnnTo: The writer is not an influencer or a guru, nor does one who downloads other images from the net to embody unlikely. nikon_afs20_f1-8Nikon AF-S 20mm f/1.8 G ED

Pros: Sharpness, three-dimensionality, price

Cons: Unusual materials, availability

Opinion: I have several other wings and this I just took because I was curious, such an opening on a 20 mm is not customary. I was very satisfied, the main feature is the sharpness coupled with a truly remarkable three-dimensional appearance, it almost seems to have in hand the afs 85 f 1.8G in wide angle version! Lightweight and not very bulky, it's really enjoyable, we must admit that optically the latest Nikon creations are really remarkable. The old 20 AFD was not bad but not a phenomenon, here we really are on another planet. I certainly do not compete with my 24 f 1.4, but that's the triple! The polymer with which it is built is the usual, we must make a reason. An optic to have, especially at this price, I paid 750 Nital. The only problem is to find it. you do not understand why but, at least in Rome, the new 20 comes with the dropper and who sells the usedit does so at the price of the new one. nikon_24g_f1-4Nikon AF-S 24mm f/1.4 G ED

Pros: construction, materials, plasticity, sharpness

Cons: Cost

Opinion: Cost is the only thing out of measure, this optics should cost as much as the 85 afs 1.4 to be more palatable. The construction is the same as the solid construction of '85, the instantaneous and precise. Sharpness, plasticity and three-dimensionality are legend, it really is a top lens. However, owning them, I can say that it does not reach the peaks of the 25 Zeiss nor the sharpness of the 24 Art. But, believe me, it is without a shadow of a doubt the best 24 Nikon ever built!

nikon_85_f1-4gNikon AF-S 85mm f/1.4 G

Pros: speed, solidity, extreme sharpness and great blur

Cons: loves 36 mpxl, you see a little you ...

Opinion: It's the portrait optics excellence point. The optical performance is stratospheric, slightly better than the already excellent 1.8G brother. But instead of the latter, the body is more massive, the polymer used for the outer coating is much better and inside there is solid metal. Unlike the af, here we finally find one worthy, fast and accurate. The old AFD 85 f 1.4 certainly has more gear than the material, but with regard to optical performance it is obvious that the generation jump. By the way, here is more than a fine calibration of autofocus, and the best method, in my humble warning, is the focus chart. Because? Well, having the graduated scale at 45 ° you will be able to see the exact depth of field by adjusting af to perfection. I have several goals in the house but when I go out with the 810 I use only this%2C the 24 f 1.4G and the 35 f 1.4G. nikon_16-35vrNikon AF-S 16-35mm f/4 G ED VR

Pros: Sharpness, colors, excursion but above all VR

Cons: Distortion at the minimum focal but we are also at 16 mm .......

Opinion: Usually those who buy it claim to prefer it at 14-24 for the ability to use filters. I do not consider this bonus anything at all, we are in a digital world and with the possibilities of the post I find it almost delusional to use filters on modern optics! The 16-35 is a great piece, designed for digital, has nano crystall and a gorgeous and functional VR, is much more user friendly than 14-24 and, like the brother, exudes brilliant and well saturated colors, it almost seems like are polarized. The sharpness then is proverbial and, to those who complain about the edges, I would definitely recommend it on a 36 mpxl. At 16 mm the distortion begins to be visible but my lords, we are talking about a supergrandangolo and not a 300 mm! In my opinion, highly recommended, at a human price you find in the backpack all the wonders you need and with the plus of the sensational VR, you will not feel true to 1/15. Vote 10, no doubt! nikon_14d_f2-8Nikon AF 14mm f/2.8 D ED

Pros: materials, assembly, lightness (as light as 14 mm ...)

Cons: super ghost, not very high AT species

Opinion: Mechanically the 14th is really well done, nothing to argue, and the materials are top notch. Pretty light, slightly bulky, optically superior to the old 15mm that went to replace. It remains the big problem of the ghost, which, though to a lesser extent, compared to the 15, still persists in an unacceptable manner. Sharpness is decent, but it does not make any jumps, but the lens definitely goes diaphragmatic. The disgrace of 14 was certainly the output of 14-24, ubi maior minor cessat, any comparison between the two is really unlikely. An excellent second-hand specimen is now between 700 and 800 euros and that's worth it, but that's what we say is that an excellent 16-35 is home to that figure that goes infinitely better and also has the VR. Voting 7, and only for the profusion of noble materials ... nikon_135dcNikon AF 135mm f/2 D DC

Pros: Noble materials, construction

Cons: Slight sharpness to open diaphragms, fringing, maf

Opinion: Construction of other times with noble materials, other than today's plastic! But optically we are back, and not least. The defocus system does not complicate the already precarious maf, and on some specimens, even by setting it to zero, is the case that the fine calibration carried out in the machine takes us to + or - 15 or 20, which is an enormity. The lens suffers from senior design, it was born for the film and it is seen. You can forget about the amazing performance of the AFS optics with dwarfs at TA, here we are on a very dull level as to sharpness. I would recommend it to vintage lovers or those who are in love with the AFD 85 f 1.4, the family is that and the performance is similar. Defocus is also a nice game at first, then it is often not used anymore. Vote 8, but just because I appreciate the good mechanics ... nikon_85_f1-8gNikon AF-S 85mm f/1.8 G

Pros: Extreme sharpness, reliability

Cons: AF scandalously slow, materials

Opinion: It's definitely the best buy of portrait lenses, with about 500 euros you bring home a new nip that, optically, sounds much more expensive glasses. The construction is modest, we talk about the usual cheap plastic, but the assembly is still very good. However, the weight is minimal, it can also be carried in your pocket. The minimum focusing distance is 5 cm lower than that of the 1.4G brother, and that is a good thing. Performance is superb even at TA, and except for the 1.4G (I also have that in the house), it severely matches all the goals you can compare. Double blind at my house made a bad figure at Zeiss, and even the high-profile Nikon AFD 85 f 1.4 did not come out any good. Indeed, the latter was a real disappointment, it just does not want to be creamy when sharpness and resolution are fading ... The AF (when fine calibration is carried out, which I consider absolutely necessary on all optics50 mm up) is very precise but extremely slow, say we are on the Nikon AFS 50 f 1.4 levels. COnclusions: all-round optics, it's an absolute blade, but capable of turning a bokeh that is good enough to be attached to the Nikon 36mmxl connector! Voting 10, and what else? sigma_50_f1-4artSigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

Pros: Extreme sharpness, ability to enhance the 36 mpxl of the best machines, price, material, assembly

Cons: need for fine maf (but this one has a bit of all the bright optics especially if ultra-defined, although many seem not to notice...)

Opinion: I have just read the review of my friend Gian Carlo and I am happy with his enthusiastic impressions, also because the 50 Art I have recommended it several times. What to say, let's talk very simply about the final 50 mm, period. Maybe only the Otus can beat it, but let's talk about a catafalque without autofocus that weighs and clutters more than a hand grenade, not to mention the price... I got to compare it with the afs 58 1.4 nikon, which made a bad figure. The trouble (for others...) is that Art excels in practically everything: bokeh, sharpness, solidity, valuable materials, opening shadows, even the lampshade is a span above the nikon, built of much better polymer and with a very solid hook, there really is no risk of losing it! The weight is there, needless to deny it, but as Gian wrote well balances with the 800-810. The maf must be absolutely calibrated with the dock and once adjusted on the 4 distances it no longer moves and is of surgical precision, with good peace of the day those who say that you have to go back to adjusting it from time to time. WARNING: for the dimensions you do not based on photos, the real ones are quite different, it's really big! For me more than an optic we talk about a measuring instrument, and I have to say that it made me rediscover the taste of shooting with 50 mm. More: in another life I was among the lucky owners of the Noct who, although very good for those who were the standards of the time, never gave me the satisfaction that Art is giving me, especially the sharpness was really far away. Over the last 38 years I have spent a lot of money on this hobby of ours, of emblazoned optics I have in the house several but NEVER and I say NEVER I happened such a view, for me it has no rivals. Not even to say it, 10 cum laude. Then don't say I didn't warn you....

nikon_d810Nikon D810

Pros: shutter redesigned, lack of AA filter, autofocus, spectacular files even in jpg

Cons: absolute need to use high-level optics, otherwise it is better not to buy it

Opinion: Let's talk about the machine that happens at 800E, then a big car. Af has dramatically improved, the 810 is adopting the D4s module, the result goes beyond all expectations. The sensor is the spectacular "almost 37" mpxl and this time absolutely no anti-aliasing filter, to ensure amazing results. Obviously moiré and aliasing I do not have to talk about it, at least for my photographic genre. The new shutter shakes the miracle, not a vibration, produces a noise that does not seem metallic but rather plastic, at the first shots I thought it was broken! Even high ISOs are improved, reaching the 6400 fairly smoothly, even though the performance of D4 and Df certainly does not reach. Beware of the optics, if you do not intend to invest, it is better not to buy the 810, it would make you damn. Excellent interaction I found with afs 24 f 1.4G, 35 f 1.4G, 85 1.4G, with 70-200 2.8 (but only with VR2!) And of course with superbo 50 mm Art. Improposable (always my opinadmissible notice) Very good but old style stuff for the film and I talk about the 85f 1.4, the good bighiera, the two defocus and other vintage monuments. What else to say is a challenging machine, who does not test it will never know what is the concept of high definition according to Nikon ... Vote 10 and praise, there was to be doubted it? NOTE: The writer is not an influencer in a guru, and not even one who downloads other images from the network to impersonate improbable comparisons. Pros: Exceptional sensor, construction and pro-level materials, reliability, more than decent buffers, truly definitive meter

Cons: You need optics of the same level, otherwise it is better not to buy it

Opinion: Reading the opinion of Pkkleopard, who preceded me really with open mouth, maybe his 800E was born bad, it happens in the best families. Every now and then somebody complains of the fever, sometimes of the famous microregion, but I have never heard of sporadic blocks or anything else, that's why I'm basically back. The yield is absolutely good at up to 3200 ISO and is different from that of the smooth 800, the absence of the anti-aliasing filter makes the difference. My 800E is absolutely perfect in everything (sgrat sgrat ...), the only thought of a downgrade with the return of the good 700 makes the chills come, it seems to go back to prehistory. I also have the 810 and, despite the obvious improvements, I can say that the burned files are absolutely indistinguishable. In short, today, according to me, an 800E used (little) at 1500-1700 euros is a bestbuy to be absolutely preferred to the 610 or 750 walking cars, it is really another walk .... rnATTENZIONE: the writer is not a influencer in a guru, and not even uno downloading other images from the network to impersonate improbable comparisons.
