Pros: Great sharpness, beautiful colors

Cons: Light vignetting at f/2

Opinion: Precise and fine focusing. Beautiful, smooth bokeh, sharp subject even at low aperture. I would never use another lens again. After five years of operation, there was a fault in the electronics. I had to send the lens to Germany for repair. Repair price reach 2/3 of the price of a new lens! However, service problems and a high price plus a warranty of only three years for such a lens, it is a huge disappointment!

Pros: Optical yield, mechanical realization, versatility of use

Cons: Light vignetting at f/2

Opinion: It has the same optical scheme as the "Classic" version, which I have had in the past, so from this point of view it confirmed the excellent optical yield. The Milvus version has made improvements to the mechanical realization, both from an aesthetic point of view and for tropicalization. Without the help of accessories it allows you to reach the 1:2 playback ratio, which for most of my uses is sufficient; in the rare cases where I need to get to higher magnification ratios, up to 1:1, I combine it with the PN-11 extension tube (from 52.5 mm, basically the same as for the Micro Nikon 105 AI and AIs). It should be noted that the focal length does not vary with the focus distance (which happens with other macro objectivesies). The high maximum brightness (f/2) allows it to be used also as a generic medium-canvas for an infinite number of occasions. At f/2 the yield is already very good, even if there is a bit of vignetting, easily corrected in post-production; closing the diaphragm even by a single stop, the yield becomes excellent. Using it with a Nikon D850, I find the set well balanced. The price of the new one is quite high, but in my opinion justified by the characteristics of the object; I was lucky enough to buy a used as new from a kind forum user at a much more favorable price.

Pros: There's nothing better

Cons: weight and cost, but points known before purchase

Opinion: Extraordinary for macros up to 0.50 magnifications; great for portraits if you are looking for the definition (sometimes too much); great for easel landscapes. Excellent blurry at maximum opening; almost unchanged quality to the different diaphragms up to 11. The only limit, too, this well-known, does not reach 1:1. For the moment I do not need it, but I will still try with close-up filters and propina tubes; if necessary, I update the review. It would be interesting to make a direct comparison with the Leica R macro 100/2.8, the cost of which, moreover, is significantly higher.

Pros: Unchanged from its predecessor, which is therefore fully promoted

Cons: Same problem as the predecessor regarding the lengthening to the lower magnification ratios, not true macro coming only to 1:2, to date in 2019 there are Chinese alternatives at half the price (see the various laowa )

Opinion: I must confess that the hesitation was strong in me before the purchase. I had to send back a Zeiss 100 f2 Classic because I had internal dust, and I wasn't sure I'd spend anything extra for it. In the end I decided, I made the purchase, and I was stunned. You notice The net change of Zeiss regarding the construction. End of the metal "old style" (beautiful but overly delicate ), and welcome the "futuristic" metal. I'm not sure how to get this brushed effect, so much so that it will be really hard to wear out the body. We will have to make a commitment to mark it. The dial of the MF can please as not to like, surely "ride by wire" makes a better effect, so it is perhaps too frictiony, but it makes us habit (being rubber and not metal ). The grafts and details are manic, lampshade and body will be grafted to form a soft and uniform line, much more blunt than the Classic line. In essence, even this lens is a great fault (if lovers of the genre ), and I think a few hundredni more than the previous version are justified. You lose a bit that "sex appeal" of the Zeiss Classic, but you gain in serenity of use considering how simple it was to strip the body of the old Zeiss. Applause at the metal lampshade with internal velvet, really libidinous to use compared to the pats of other brands.

Pros: It is the absolute top, in all respects

Cons: Perhaps the clutter, but just wanting to look for the hair in the egg ....

Opinion: A couple of weeks ago I decided to change my 100 Makro Planar ZF.2 Classic to get the new Milvus. That the new series is waterproofed (but for real, not like the nikon ...) you all know that the new Milvus is even more resolvent than the excellent Classic I discovered it alone, otherwise the features are similar and therefore I propose again what I have already written of the ZF.2 "I tell the truth, I have always found so well with my beautiful Nikon AFS-G fixed all 1.4 (24, 35, 85) from never having felt the need to try Cosina-Zeiss's manual focus stuff, celebrated that it was - on the contrary, I've always seen it as a radical chic stuff, as a bar jockeys ... And then ... destiny wanted to punish me by letting me drop a good chance to buy this blessed makro planar! I was relied on at the first contact, finally it was back to touch metal and glass as in the good times of the AIs, and then the test, which confirmed what good says about it: about 36 mpxl I found sharpness beyond measureaccompanied by excellent bokeh, high contrast and 3D effect, bright but real colors. It must be said that for general use to center the maf at TA is really a lottery with the slides of modern SLR, however, closing just do not have problems. To finish the price that, altino altogether, turns out more than appropriate for what this wonder can offer "
