Opinion: The one I currently have is the second Plena I've purchased, the first one I brought back to the store the next day because I didn't see huge improvements compared to my 135 Art. Then I definitely got tired of using the FTZ II adapter and I went back to buy the Plena. Let's say right away that (at least in my eyes) there are no abysmal differences with the corresponding Art: the sharpness is almost identical and the infamous circular bokeh or cat's eye you really have to go and look for it. On the other hand, the "case" is laughable and the lens hood is built with the usual cheap plastic. That said, the lens is excellent (even if I definitely prefer my 50 and my 85, both f1.2) and irreplaceable for portraits close to the face only. It's a real canvas, so watch out for the compression effect. Very good sharpness, and bokeh as expected from a lens that mounts an 11-blade diaphragm. It holds the backlight well, probably thanks to the anti-reflective coatings that Nikon likes to resell under exotic names on its site. Finally, I have to admit that the lens is easily brandished, with the Z9 it falls very well in the hand. Summing up, this Plena is probably the best 135 on the market even if, in my very personal nikon-ranking, I would place it in third position behind the fantastic 85mm and 50mm f1.2.
