Pros: Bokeh, Sharpness, colors

Cons: both new and used price, weight

Opinion: I was and am a happy owner of the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G (used). I watched many videos, photos and even read reviews before buying it new. In September 2022, thanks to the discount in the Nital cash register, the monkey left me. I am very happy to have bought a little less the bank account. I struggle to detach it from the z6, it will also be perhaps the fact of the novelty but objectively it is better than the 85. If you have budget I recommend the 105 otherwise already the 85 will give you great satisfaction. Sore note: at the end of the day I assure you that the 400 grams that he thinks more than the other you feel them both on the neck and on the back. Vote 10

Pros: A very sharp lightweight lens, practical unsurpassed quality

Cons: Just the price a little high but worth it

Opinion: I tried this lens so many times I found myself in wonder not bought it because I have the first 105 2.8. macro that I use for life style photos and macros, but for portrait photos the 1.4 I recommend it for its exceptional blurry effect and sharpness of the photos created. The focus and very velece compared to the first version even the sensitivity of light makes it more effective

Pros: Sharpness already in T.A. bokeh, three-dimensionality, A.F. colors.

Cons: Price

Opinion: Great lens in my opinion, with a sharpness at full jaw-dropping opening. Compared with the Nikon 85 f1.4G, there is no history until 2.8 then the gap narrows. Compared to the Zeiss 100 Planar Makro f2, and again it is successful (sharpness, bokeh, shadow opening) but the Zeiss has more micro contrast. The weight of the footprint and the maneability are more than acceptable, considering the type of lens and especially when compared with the Sigma Art 135, not to mention the 105 Art decidedly out of standard. Compared to the Zeiss above it has above all the boast of the AF and an extra diaphragm. His Achilles heel is the price for both the new and the used. Recommended if it fits in your budget, better used also because it is easily resold.

Pros: Great sharpness, easy resale

Cons: cost, weight, footprint, flare, color drift

Opinion: Hyper-charged lens (for what it's worth), for the first period of use is also able to enhance: the af engine is quite fast, excellent sharpness and that sense of presence that makes the enthusiast who shelled out a kidney feel "photographer" to buy it. But don't be fooled by the over-enthusiastic reviews of those who have never had anything better in their hands. Because then... then you start to make him fleas and you see that the flare he takes is really important, the colors that at first - thanks to the enthusiasm and brilliance given by the dwarf crystals - looked beautiful actually veer sometimes towards a green and sometimes towards a magenta, depending on the light conditions. Embarrassed by this discovery you continue to fleas him and discover - naturally testing in double blindness - that the portrait lenses you have in the house are all superior, while costing them all less (Zeiss 100 Makro Planar, Zeiss 135 Apo Sonnar, Art 105 f 1,4). And superior in everything from sharpness both in the center and on the frame edge, to the bokeh, to the color fidelity. In addition to everything the packaging is very poor, in practice the usual box with a new cardboard support for optics, this time they abolished the classic transparent plastic shell. From a lens of this price you would expect a worthy case, such as that of 24-70 or 300 PF and instead no, there is the usual bag that you also find on the 50 f 1.8, as if to say that to misery there is never an end! And at this point you get like a beast, and the only thing that consoles you is you bought it second-hand and that - thankfully - there are a lot of Nikonist Taliban around ready to get it out of your hand! And then it turns out that anyway you keep it because in the nikon house of better there is not, because art weighs and clutters a bang and finally because the zeiss do not have the automatic AF. Sic transit gloria mundi, I keep giving money to nikon but frankly I don't know until...

Pros: Sharpness,Bokeh,Colors,Magic

Cons: Weight

Opinion: Every now and then and perhaps he should do it more often,Nikon pulls out optics that are bound to remain in history for their value and their peculiarities. We always talk about high-priced optics and often addressed to the world of professionals or wealthy amateurs. Specifically, the 105 1.4 leaves open-mouthed for the very sharpness to all diaphragms, something that very few famous optics of other brands manage to do. I own and I love Canon's 85 1.2, but as soon as I got my hands on this Nikkor I said, "It's done!.. This outclasss the Canon at all levels!" While the peculiarities, i.e. the ability to introduce unpredictable and beautiful variables in the final image, are different for the two optics, the Nikkor has the advantage of expressing all its incredible sharpness from the maximum opening and provide an extraordinary performance where the Canon to make it best must be closed at least a couple of diaphragms. The focus is quiet and precise, the pairing with the D850 is superb and is one of the recent Nikon optics able to enhance and "hold" such a large number of MPx. On Z6, same amazing performance, with AF fast and perfect, but in addition it becomes stabilized. It must be said that it is a heavy beast but well built and resistant to dust and weather. It is used with the discomfort of weight, but with the certainty that in the world, today, there are very few optics able to do better, especially in light of the money needed to have it. Another world... Thank you,Nikon!
