The focal ratio is very interesting, being a 3.5-4.5, so not far from the constant F4s... At full opening it is rather soft, although in different uses such as portraiture can be very interesting. I find the color rendering beautiful, very balanced and realistic even in the standard jpeg settings. The focal range makes it a great all-rounder when you want to travel light, on vacation or during a trekking session... The weight is really palious, but it doesn't particularly unbalance a machine like the 5dII. The real sore note is given by the chromatic aberrations especially at the edges, where you can also notice a pronounced distortion at 24mm. However, in these days of imprisonment I enjoyed trying it in parallel to a Tamron 28-75 2.8 on a Sony A7III and it comes out far from beaten, chromes apart (present although to a lesser extent also on the tamron). From the tests carried out, the least convincing focus is about 35mm, but I reserve the right to carry out more serious tests... I'm sure if it was still in the catalog, up to max 200 euros would be an absolute best buy... The construction is quite "cheap", but still in the standard of objectives not L... it's a pity that the barrel tends to slip with a bit of violence in the 85mm position when you tip the lens down, although not always... after a few days of intense use I would like to write the above, but as soon as I get the chance, I reserve the right to update the review.

Opinion: On APS-C undoubtedly a lens that is quite usable in portraits. On full frame someone considers it a very good "no meat nor fish". I have found it, to my surprise, in the suitcase of a Russian photosniper kit in pairs with the Tair 300 f 4.5... the seller perhaps forgot to tell me. in a well-protected suitcase ravine, a few weeks after the purchase, and, from the state of preservation I think never used, one day I found a plastic bag containing this jewel, well built, solid, finished well, and by the yield Amazing... closing the diaphragm a little bit will give you some very sharp images... realistic colors, although in my specimen they tend to be a cold, blurry amazing hair... In short... a lens that struggles to detach from the camera... used in macros only at full opening, having the classic diaphragms to be held down thoroughly to allow it to be adjusted (use extensions m42 without batting ring, alas), but I think it's fabulous by closing the diaphragm... If you demand extreme sharpness at TA, it is not the right optics.

Excellent rendering in macro images, also using extension tubes, not having the rear diaphragm activation pad, present on many M42 optics. As far as I'm concerned, considering also the cost and age of the project, it is a very advisable optics, which can not miss in the park of a vintage enthusiast.

Opinion: I'm going to go a little against the tide. Definitely attractive price for the characteristics of the optics, but the realization in terms of construction quality frankly is from the lens "cheap" and I am very sorry. Being used to the classic L Canon series armored cars, but also some Tamrons for DSLR, this lens looks like a cheap toy, paid for rather expensively. Everything that has impressed me negatively with regard to the construction, is instead repaid by the optical quality and autofocus, both very good. Autofocus fast and very quiet, so much so that it is recommended to be used also in the video field... Good image quality, sometimes very good, good rendering of colors and details, even at full opening says its, despite present a blurry 2.8 that sometimes does not convince me... I definitely want to recommend it, it's a great all-rounder's optics for those who don't want to faint. It has a minimal distance of interesting focus even for macro shots. It enjoys the usual Tamron warranty extension, which I consider a bonus not to be underestimated. Overall I promote it, waiting to evaluate its duration over time. Vote 9.

Opinion: Already user of A7II, from the third version I expected a lot and so it was. Meanwhile the machine body that I find of excellent quality, as it was in the second version. Solid, well balanced, although a little small but at the same time peaches, betraying like the younger sister, the initial mission of mirrorless. Jpeg files follow the usual Sony tradition, although better than those seen so far... let's say less horrible than usual. RAW files are a marvel, like the previous series... really impressive workability, both compressed and uncompressed.... really excellent. The implementation of touch was definitely an important plus, but I would have done without it, honestly. The high ISO yield is great... I also thought the previous series was good... let's say this is definitely a step forward, allowing unthinkable ISO shots with amazing results. Battery life is significant compared to the previous ones!!! The autofocus, though difficult to set well, is impressive, especially the lightning tracking... nothing to say, of the highest level. In addition to a couple of native fixtures, I use Canon optics adapted with Metabones IV... even with those configurations I feel pretty good. The EVF sight is not much, sincerely, but very usable... The real sore note is the menu, which in Italian has absurd abbreviations,... I use it in English, but it remains indigestible... the good thing is that with the Fn menu you can easily achieve the most used functions.... for the rest, it would have been clearer written in machine language directly :-D ... Last note, the unfortunate choice of the placement of the microUSB socket that interferes with the plastic door... really a crazy thing ... Ultimately... recommended machine, suitable for all photographic genres, and I saw that it has many options for the video part (which I rarely use, so I know little)... a full 9 without any doubt.

The colors it returns are great for me, with rather warm shades as I like it. The only note is that the lens is a bit fragile and plastic, but it may last. Meanwhile I never get it out of my car, it's too comfortable to carry around when you want to stay light. Another small flaw of my specimen, tried both on a7II and a7III... the fire is often not immediate but does a short search for the correct point (on a7III it is much faster, but nevertheless you notice a certain lag)... I should maybe do a firmware upgrade, maybe I'll update the review with new impressions... for the moment a full 9, absolutely, also in relation to the price, all in all affordable.

Opinion: Machine to be considered a real jewel of technology, a machine body really well made, although a little out of the mirrorless philosophy, being the heavy machine and not really very small. The menu does not betray the Sony tradition: confusing, but you get used to it... I do not deny that to date some functions, even important, I struggle to find them at the first shot, wandering among the menus.... actually there is the Fn key that helps a lot in this regard, in addition to the personable "C" keys. I use it with satisfaction with vintage lenses, with which the built-in stabilizer on the sensor is made very well, and with Canon optics adapted... With a cheap non-HS Commlite adapter, I can use with profit a 24-70 f2.8 L, a 40 2.8 STM, a 16-35 f4 L, although the fire is not always precise, even if fast, a 70-300 DO, and even with this you have to be careful with the fire , not always accurate. Jpeg images, also a well-established Sony image, are very bad with all possible settings, both as a definition and as colors, especially in portraits. RAW files, on the other hand, are very pleasant to work with, both compressed and uncompressed files (I did not notice any differences, despite being twice the size of the others)... the shadow recovery if necessary is very good, that of the highlights also, but not always very effective, however the dynamic range seems to me excellent, considering also the age of the project. Noise above 3200 ISO becomes important, but with careful development, you can handle up to 6400 well and, at least the chroma part, even beyond. The batteries unfortunately last very little, so for heavy use you have to get different. There are many functions in the machine and you can customize and control pretty much everything. The use with vintage optics is spectacular, given the excellent focus peaking and focus zoom; The latter I assigned it to the function key C1, so that I always have it available in case of manual fire... very comfortable and allows for fast and precise fire. Overall, therefore, it is a machine that I would recommend, especially for a type of thoughtful photographic approach, and for which you can and always want to switch from RAW (jpegs in my opinion are useful only as a preview of images)... I would obviously like to update the opinion if you provide me with native optics, which for the moment I do not miss... maybe I miss a standard AF lens... See...

Opinion: It is a difficult lens, it certainly disappoints lovers of sharpness, however the practicality due to compactness is priceless. I would like to say that the price he had from new was a real theft, despite the great technology behind it.... fresnel lens as a diffractive optical element, USM, IS... On the used market it is reasonably priced, for which the disbursement is valid on average. Do not expect the yield of the various 70-200 canons, nor even the nano USM 70-300.... the diffractive version is much worse... but it is a damn comfortable goal, for quiet outings, and moreover it does not risk giving in the eye ... my specimen has a somewhat ballerina front, both in an extracted and internal position.... The stabilizer doesn't convince me... I am very noisy like others, but I always tend to stay in safety times anyway, because, although it works perfectly, I do not think it is very effective, at least on my specimen. Situations in which phenomena of strange internal reflexes occur (I believe due to the diffractive element), are often also not very critical, making the lens even more difficult. Often you realize the ruined photo only after viewing it and not during the composition. I'm still studying it and asking.... let's say I'd like to recommend it but with reservations... I who am a lover of sharpness I suffer in front of the results obtained with this goal, but possessing as an alternative only a 70-200 2.8 and several 200mm manual, I can say that between taking home a not perfect photo and not taking it home because for clutter problems you preferred to leave the zoomon at home, I prefer the first solution. I will try to update the review with some other impression as soon as possible.

The only annoying note is related to the flare, which in landscape photos can be annoying... it often happens to be with the framing near the solar disk, even if out of frame, and you generate annoying images, more than I happened with other canon lenses... nothing dramatic, but it's annoying.

Strange the mechanism now abandoned by canon, so at lower focals the body is longer than at high focals. The lampshade is quite cumbersome, but you can always keep it mounted without problems. Like all light zooms it is quite heavy and challenging, although it is well balanced with a body like the 5d mk3, but the photographic quality pays for everything. Very highly recommended. Cons: Weight, footprint, video capacity (but it's a machine of 2012!), lack pop-up flash (for me it's not a big cons, but it can be)

Opinion: Socket used with few shots in the era of mirrorless... You can take it home now at reasonable prices, being often sold off. Despite the age of the project, it can be considered a definitive machine, at least speaking as an amateur photographer. It makes an impression even today, seven years after the exit. A tank... Very solid, excellent operating speed, double CF/SD slots, silent fairytale shot, suitably configured, ready-to-use JPEG churns, at the limit with a pp-skin.... Autofocus that I think is excellent, as well as being extremely flexible and widely configurable, although a bit ' difficult to master. Video side seems lacking, compared to today's monsters, but it is also obvious that it is so... And on the other hand I do not find it limiting, since I only do small pieces and the fullHD is more than enough. The high ISO yield for the age it has is not bad at all. The dynamic range is not great, but, always considering the age, I think it's great. It has the ability to connect microphone and headphones for audio monitoring, really great thing. The lack of flash pop up I haven't heard it yet... Although a filler every now and then, especially in strong contrast conditions would not be bad... Unique flaws are weight and size, but from a pro SLR body you can't expect a featherweight... The ergonomics is however exceptional, everything at hand and that falls to wonder. Balancing with heavy targets (tested with 70-200 2.8) is outstanding. In this historical period, in which the unhurried mirrorless race is relentlessly, you can find great bargains, bringing home a car for life. Really great on all fronts.

Opinion: After a fortnight in the world APS-C SLR mainly canon, I decided to buy a Sony A6000, only body, mainly to use it with my large park of vintage lenses, some of which do not go to infinity focus on the Canon bodies. For this application I must say that I was absolutely satisfied, recovering Pentacon, the Pentax and Sekor-Mamiya to which I am very attached. I have however immediately noticed that for the use hit and run of quality, is a camera not suitable... The JPEG products in the car are to my taste indecent with all the settings tested. In sporting events where I often distribute thousands of photos "on the fly" to many friends, I hold the Canon that with the due precautions produces excellent jpg. However nothing dramatic, shooting in RAW and away, on the other hand also with Canon, in more studied events, click in this format. Other disappointment I was given by the noise, already present at low ISO... For goodness sake, under manageable development, but I expected it less invasive... here too... compared with a Canon APS-C DSLR older than several years, the DSLR wins big time. With the menu I familiarized immediately... a little chaotic, it is true, but you get used to it and in the end is not bad at all. Even the ability to install apps and connectivity are not a little pluses. Taking us taste, however, even given the convenience, I took a fixed 35 1.8 Sony and the kit lens 16-50 to be used in the light outputs. I have to say that defining the 16-50 a bottle bottom means offending the bottles heavily... Really obscene... at low focal features a vignetting that would suggest a project for another type of sensor... even distortions are unacceptable. All easily correctable... on rawtherapee They settle with a click, but it seems absurd to put on the market such obscenity, at a price from new also quite high. The 35 has a good yield, but the detail rendered sometimes leaves me perplesso...in certain light conditions also details at diaphragm a little closed, type F4, you lose... let's say it comes out with broken bones from any comparison with different vintage lenses , with the same conditions, despite the lack, in the latter, of automatisms, antireflective treatment, and stabilization. By pulling the sums, I'm definitely satisfied for the main application for which I bought it, the camera body is really well done, solid, and think that in that little space is locked so much technology and many functions really makes a certain impression. Avoid the kit lens, absolutely, at that point better a compact tip and shoot... produces better photos.... also evaluate the optics before buying them... The 35 I took it at a great price, but blindly, at full price would have been suicide. I tried to use the lenses Canon and Tamron APS-C and FF with various adapters, but I have not satisfied, AF slow and undecided, sometimes even inaccurate... so I think I will continue to use it mainly for the purpose for which I searched and bought, and for Which is really a pleasure to use.
