Pros: sharpness, speed, detail, f: 2.8, lightness

Cons: only serves to cameras with aps-c sensor, could be firmer in the front segment (fluctuates a bit when in 55mm)

Opinion: this is my lens of choice for travel photos, portraits, nocturnal, architecture, for any service. Mounted on my Canon EOS 50D produces a set of very high quality and performance. The only thing it lacks to be an L series lens is the red stripe, but also did not make sense to Canon to produce an EF-s series lens as a L series. In all the features it provides the lens-end to users of sensor APS-C.

Pros: Aperture, price

Cons: No FF, construction, no flare resistance, in my case poor sharpness

Opinion: In general it is a very good lens that, of course, cannot be compared to the various 18-35 or 18-135. Plastic construction but sturdy and pleasant, even if not tropicalized, and unfortunately yes it melts very soon, opening downwards with nothing. It is clear that its strong point is the fixed 2.8 at all focal lengths, which also gives a discreet blur, soft and enveloping. To upgrade is undoubtedly a great investment, but you shouldn't expect the sharpness and definition of the more emblazoned, and expensive, L-series. At least the specimen I have, doesn't define the details, at any aperture, least of all at TA. If you're forced to shoot and have to let in some sunshine, the flare will kill you. Also, being only for APSC I found it a bit limiting. In any case, at the price you find today, it is a good compromise and an excellent investment for your photographic growth, especially since it is a widely used focal length range.

Pros: Excellent sharpness and overall optical quality, stabilized

Cons: Lack of tropicalization

Opinion: Excellent all-rounder zoom lens, of excellent optical quality. Sharp at all focal points, and almost at all openings, although it perhaps besto sings around f 4 or f 5.6. Stabilization is also excellent, allowing you to recover two or three stops. It looks like a real "L" lens, but without the officially indicated L. Too bad for the lack of tropicalization (but they should have really called it "L" by force!). Highly recommended for Canon's APS-C SLRs, perhaps the best EF-S lens and zoom in general for this type of cameras. Highly recommended.

Pros: f2.8 on all focal extensions - Stabilizer - Optical Quality Sharpness - Focal Extension

Cons: Autofocus mechanism noise in videos that can be deleted with external microphone

Opinion: Anyone who buys the Canon 17-55mm f2.8 will buy excellence. It's the best zoom in terms of sharpness even with the aperture diaphragm and in all the focal excursions that Canon has ever done, and the confirmation is given by the fact that even today it is among the most sought-after zoom lenses and appreciated by the various photographers who own Canon Aps-c machine bodies. Very versatile, suitable for all the various photographic needs ranging from the panorama, to the nocturnal to get to the portraits, it is well suited and stands out especially for the fact that keeping the opening of the constant diaphragm of f2.8 also to the focal of 55mm (which corresponds on the fullframes at 88mm) allows you to get a beautiful blurry background in the portraits. I recommend given the importance of the lens, to protect the front lens from scratches fingers powder etc, with a special quality UV filter of 77mm (I recommend the excellent hoya Hoya PRO-1 Digital UV filter). The purchase of the zoom I made from the store of murripatrizia (at the price of 580 euros), is a well-established guarantee of savings compared to other stores of the competition, appreciated the fact that at each purchase you receive a discount voucher to use in the next purchase. Ordered on September 15, arrived on October 5, 2020, thus respecting the timely waiting times of about 20 days indicated by the store for delivery. As for the Canon 17-55 f2.8, some reviews indicate that the autofocus in moving forward or backward, generates a noticeable (albeit very little), mechanism noise.... This is true... and in video footage (if you use the microphone embedded in your Canon) that noise is recorded in the video and you hear it distinctly, but if you use an external microphone, such as the Rode or the Boya or other), I even use the wire microphone found in the smartphone packages) in the video there is absolutely no noise of the mechanism of the autofocus, since the external microphone, unlike the one embedded in the Chassis of the Canon, does not suffer from the acoustic case effect that transmits any kind of noise even those when you touch your reflex, so if you make videos, get a good microphone. Pros: Range of focals, fixed opening to f/2.8, image quality, IS.

Cons: A little slippery focal point, it's not EF

Opinion: A whole other world than the 18-55mm. The quality of the details is wonderful and the chromatic rendering is very faithful, even at the full opening and in the corners of the image. The fact that it is f/2.8 already makes it a fairly bright lens, and the stabilization allows slightly longer shooting times. Overall it's a really gorgeous optics, which I'd regret if I had to switch to FF... however, I do not understand why the dial of the focals was made so "slippery". I thought it might be a flaw in my lens, but reading other reviews I saw that almost everyone complains about it. It is not a very annoying thing, but a lens of this price should not make certain games: it extends and withdraws even with the force of gravity (What is definitely helped by the abundant weight of the lens).
