Pros: Small, light, quite affordable, decent bokeh quality for an ultra wide lens, good reproduction ratio, nice and sharp in the middle and most of the frame, works well against bright light and Sun

Cons: Soft edges, ridiculously small filter size, lens hood sold separately

Opinion: Well, for the price, this lens is a must-have. And it's rather unique, RF system only. I really enjoyed using it for close-ups, walkaround, landscapes, food, pets, cars, even portraits. It seems to be wider than 16mm when shot in RAW without lens corrections ON and the edge details look better when not stretched out by the lens geometry correction. Therefore it is better to keep the corrections OFF in many situations. Highly recommended!

Pros: Weight, size, price, brightness, quality for the price

Cons: Edge sharpness

Opinion: Taken to accompany me on my walks, it has its greatest value in its weight and small size. The sharpness at the edges does not reach the excellent one I had with M5+11-22 but it remains more than sufficient for landscape use (less for urban landscape). It resists flare decently, paying only a decrease in contrast. The 2.8 aperture allows a minimum detachment of the planes despite the focal length, especially with close-up subjects placed in the center where the sharpness is good. I have never used it at night yet, but given the distortion at the edges I don't think it is optimal for starry stars. It shares dimensions and accessories with the 50 1.8 (filters and lens hood) which for me is another point in its favor. In conclusion, even if the quality is not stellar, for the use I make of it it is more than promoted, and I would not change it for sharper but heavier lenses that would often remain in the closet.

Pros: Lightweight, compact and discreetly sharp in the center

Cons: Soft edges, lens hood

Opinion: Just bought for a trip I'll do in Portugal, put on Canon Rp it behaves quite well, it distorts a bit at the edges despite the correction in the camera. However on Rp it seems to have a compact in your hands, very fun to use, for the lens hood I tried that of the 50mm stm practically identical mount but you can see it in the corners.

Pros: Price, weight, size, image quality

Cons: Lens hood to be purchased separately

Opinion: Taken without too many pretensions, it actually turned out to be an excellent purchase. Although it is not the focal length I use the most, the low price (paid 230 euros used) has made it the ideal candidate to enter the RF world without breaking the bank too much. On the field test, as mentioned, here is the pleasant surprise: paired with R6 it is a combo of great quality and at the same time very agile and compact to carry around. Even in areas that are not exactly of choice for a 16mm such as sports and live music, it is very useful for panoramas, overall views but also "creative" photos. If before I was undecided, having to redo the fixed lens park, whether to opt for these non-L RF or take the old EF L series to use with adapter, this "taste" of 16mm convinced me to take (little by little) its 28mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm brothers as well. The only flaw I found is the lack of the lens hood, but you can fix it by buying a third-party one. In conclusion: absolutely recommended.

Pros: Lightweight and cheap, fast af.

Cons: Very pronounced distortion, very low image quality at the edges

Opinion: Bought to experiment with the focal length, I can compare it to the first ef 16 35 2.8 and I can say that qualitatively it is very far from it. In post production the distortion is well fixed but perhaps further cropping is needed to obtain a realistic image. The sharpness in the center of the image is good but pushing towards the edges is gradually pulped. Goal sold.
