Pros: Weight/size, price, presence of aperture ring,

Cons: Grip aperture ring, microcontrast at TA

Opinion: Given that for the amount at which this lens is sold (paid 105 but you can find it on offer safely at 110-120) there are no real defects, but I start from those. The grip and use (especially for quick changes) of the aperture ring is clearly not studied... ok the design and minimalism but here it's a bit much. Basically, those like me who do not constantly change the opening will not feel the weight of the defect. Second small compromise, more than sharpness it lacks that microcontrast at full aperture. The images are absolutely not washed out, and still acceptably sharp, but you have to go up by 1stop to be already at 90% of the lens's potential. I'm not talking about vignetting as a defect (excuse me, perhaps) but as a distinctive trait: it's there, it's evident and it never disappears completely (but at 5.6 it's almost completely negligible). Those who buy it must know it, knowing it can be appreciated. Or at least those like me looking for and possibly adding a bit of vignetting in PP this lens is a boon. In practice, at f2.8 you shoot: either to have a bit of blur and thus enhance the subject in the center (portraits, still life, macro, etc.) and in this case the vignetting does not disturb but emphasizes; or if you shoot in low light, and in night shots (where there are those unwanted lights at the edges / corners) the vignetting often gives a nice hand and in any case a touch of character (always personal opinion let's be clear). For landscape or street photography, the apertures rise quickly to f5.6-8 and vignetting is negligible. The choice to give a touch of darker sky to the corners, using vignetting, can make a weapon what would instead be a defect at f2.8-4, I hope I have explained myself. For the rest it is small, it is light, it is discreet (which for me never hurts). I also like the small lens hood that doesn't actually shield too much from the almost frontal light, but protects the lens much better and also makes it easier to use the cap. The autofocus is more than satisfactory compared to other lenses of the Fuji system, on which I use it. The color rendering and contrast are also pleasant already from f4. The sharpness is truly amazing given the value for money. I'm not talking about the 40mm equivalent focal length, that's subjective. For me, as an everyday lens (which I find the 35 eq. tending to be correct but sometimes not very intimate and the 50 eq. too narrow especially in the interiors) it was the point of arrival...

Pros: Value for money, size, lens hood included with cap that adheres, brightness.

Cons: Uncomfortable aperture ring, not very fast focusing.

Opinion: In relation to the price, it is a very comfortable and very light lens that you have to buy. Very good photos, especially from full aperture at intermediate focal lengths. Bright, sharp, defined colors without noticeable aberrations from any point of view. Aperture grille nice for the half stop, but uncomfortable because it is smooth with only two protuberances of adherence to the fingers, but not insurmountable. Focus sometimes slow. But overall the game is worth the candle.

Pros: sharpness; autofocus speed; Colors; Tones; price

Cons: A nice vignette halo that engages a bit in post production.

Opinion: In itself it contributes to obtaining beautiful shots, with beautiful colors and excellent tones. The autofocus is quite quick. The best context is the street. It can be an all-rounder when traveling, also due to its small footprint. Vignetting annoys when you want the homogeneity of a clear sky or when you want to do fine art on BN.

Pros: Compactness; construction; value for money; character, if you like.

Cons: Uncertain AF in low light; not stabilized; character, if you don't like it.

Opinion: I got this lens, with Sony E mount, to have a compact and brighter alternative to the 16-50 kit that I sometimes like to use. Compactness and lightness are fine; my Sony a6000 with this lens remains pocket-sized. The construction seems to me well done; the aperture ring is a bit awkward but OK; the cork is badly made and always comes off; the back cap has a USB connection with which you can update the firmware (very simple operation). That said, let's see how it performs in practice. First: at the price of 130 Euros (new on Ebay), I think there is little to complain about. The autofocus is quiet, and when there is light, it works well; with little light it often struggles and, sometimes, it goes crazy and you have to do a "reboot", that is, detach the lens and reassemble it (turning the camera off and on again is not enough). In low light, I noticed that setting the focus area to "center" works better. Too bad there is no stabilization; but from 1/30'' upwards you can shoot by hand without problems. This is a lens with such a big character, which you may like or not. Strong vignetting up to f/8 (but from f/4 it corrects well in post); flares that can be either absent or so absurd as to be beautiful; a "swirly bokeh", less accentuated than the Helios 44* and therefore less invasive, which I find very nice. In my profile you can find some photos to get an idea. In my opinion, the best use of this lens is obviously for street photos, for interiors and especially for short-distance photos (objects, still lifes, flowers, animals, etc.), where it has excellent sharpness. You may or may not like his character.

Pros: Construction, image quality, price

Cons: Vignetting

Opinion: All in all it's not bad, on my X-T50 and its mega sensor it's fine, especially if we compare it to the price at which it is sold. The only real flaw that I would like to point out is the exaggerated vignetting. Basically it doesn't bother me too much, but actually you notice a lot. For the rest it is built well, the autofocus is fine, the rings are well frictioned, all in all for the price it is great!
