samyang_af135_f1-8Samyang AF 135mm f/1.8 FE

Pros: Amazing sharpness, AF not lightning fast but very responsive "more than some Sony GM", barrel made with good quality synthetic resins, light for its category, very creamy and pleasant bokeh, perfectly circular background light points, minimum focus distance, tropicalized, programmable keys, color rendering.

Cons: Fairly energy-intensive "despite the firmware updated to the latest version", for the rest, both for the cost but above all for the performance it offers, there is little to complain about.

Opinion: Mind-blowing goal! very sharp, to feel embarrassed already at f1.8. On my 60 mpx Sony a7RV, it returns a truly remarkable file. I own GM lenses from Sony and I can safely say that this 135mm by Samyang is no different, in some situations I consider it even superior. The construction is good, even if the barrel is not made of metal, but the feeling it gives is that of being quite solid. For a large aperture 135mm, it is not larger and heavier than other lenses of the same characteristics, on the contrary, the Sony GM 135mm has the same footprint and weighs almost 200 g more. The AF is good, not lightning fast, but it maintains a good level of reaction and is also accurate. The bokeh is just amazing! It makes the background of the image very creamy and pleasant. The light points of the background are always very circular, moreover, shooting against the light, I do not detect chromatic aberrations worthy of note, only going to look for the hair in the egg, just to be picky, enlarging the image of the 300x100 "and I'm not kidding" you notice a very thin purple fringe and only in the strongly contrasted areas, I repeat, nothing relevant, a sign that the lenses are of excellent quality. It doesn't have an Image Stabilizer, which would result in higher costs and if I have to be honest, with modern cameras that come with a very effective Image Stabilizer, I don't give a damn! As for the rendering of colors, personally I find them saturated just right and very pleasant, of course every photographer, amateur or professional, in the post-production phase adapts their visual colorimetry to taste. I personally like warm, bright colors, and this lens helps make my PP job a lot easier. Lens to be taken into consideration and that I highly recommend!

sony_a7r_vSony A7r V

Pros: Solid and robust camera body, dense and high-performance sensor, ergonomics, excellent AF, very resolute electronic viewfinder, File colors, Pixel Shift, reclining LCD monitor that can be tilted and oriented in any direction, two cameras in one "61 mpx in Full Format mode and 121 MB uncompressed Raw file, 26 mpx in Apsc mode and 52 MB uncompressed Raw file".

Cons: The menu, some items have too many abbreviations and it is a bit difficult to understand immediately. A battery with a few mAh more wouldn't be bad!

Opinion: As far as I'm concerned, I consider this camera one of the best in the field, a "must have", also recognized by many professional photographers who work there, as a very reliable and above all all-round photography tool! And it's true! A small masterpiece in short. I start by saying that the camera body is a tank, the solidity as well as visual, is also very much perceived to the touch, built to be mistreated and to last. That said, speaking as an amateur photographer let's say "evolved", considering the years of experience, I want to express my opinion on some of the most salient aspects of this Sony a7RV. Speaking of responsiveness and speed in the field, I can safely say that as few and questionable as 10 FPS may seem nowadays, I have never felt the need for a faster camera, although I mainly photograph animals in strong movement such as in birdlife, also because, mainly I consider this Sony a real camera and not a video camera that also takes photos, Someone may agree or oppose this observation of mine, but I also want to add that the shot of the day takes him home anyway and quietly without shooting "2000" shots per second and then going crazy which one to choose, not to mention that we drink a card in a minute. As for the behavior of the digital noise produced by the sensor with 61 mpx, I think it is obvious and obvious to expect a slight disadvantage compared to a less resolute sensor, but anyway rest assured because up to 6400 iso, I have never noticed this great intrusiveness of noise, the images are still beautiful and rich in detail, beyond that is not advisable, I think that exceeding this range is not recommended for 90% of current mirrorless cameras, including flagships. The main problem to be managed in the best possible way is rather the weight/image factor in terms of MB, in fact if the frame is not compressed, it easily exceeds 120 MB, Problem that we can solve with the setting in the machine "Compressed file without data loss". The files that this Sony produces, in addition to offering an almost perfect dynamic range, you can appreciate a Raw File sometimes ready for passage in JPG, believe me it is really embarrassing so simple and fast is the processing of the Raw file. The write speed, buffer, before suffering slowdowns during the writing phase, we can be sure that it will never leave us stranded, provided that we use a CF Express card, in this way you can store a considerable and continuous amount of frames, which is very different and "castrating" if we use only SD cards. The resolution of the viewfinder is simply fantastic, sometimes you feel like a slight flicker, due to the high resolution of the same, once you get used to it you don't pay attention anymore. The thing that I really appreciate about all the qualities of this Sony a7RV, in addition to the fact that it boasts one of the best AFs currently designed, I would dare to compare it to a "sniper", is the fact of having two cameras in one, let me explain: precisely because of the advantage that such a dense sensor offers, working in Full Frame mode we can delight in 61 mpx offering us an image quality rich in extraordinary and superfine details while, used in Apsc mode the sensor works at 26 mpx which often not even the last FF year, many stop at 24 mpx, well, I assure you that the image, in addition to favoring a Crop factor of 1.5X (much appreciated and useful especially for nature photographers, like me), we get a simply surprising image quality and rich in details. I will not dwell further, for the additional features there is the manual, tougher, I think I have highlighted the salient and most interesting strengths that this fantastic Sony a7RV offers.

sony_fe100-400ossSony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS

Pros: Build quality with the "Q", low weight, excellent stabilization, responsive and precise AF, minimum focusing distance, sharpness to sell even at TA.

Cons: If I really have to... I would have preferred a lock/unlock button rather than the friction ring of the barrel.

Opinion: In unsuspected times, I have already had the opportunity to use this fantastic lens for more than a year on a Sony a7 IV, and I was pleasantly satisfied, now, three years later I have bought it back and mounted it on a Sony a7RV 61 mpx, a winning combination! "bread and jam", moreover the camera allows me to work in APSC with a resolution of 26 Mpx lengthening the focal range from 400 to 600mm and without varying the diaphragms, unlike a teleconverter..... truly remarkable! I use it almost exclusively for birdlife shots and as far as I'm concerned, I repeat, also considering the focal range of 600mm in apsc, I don't feel any need to go further, I can bring home beautiful shots of animals in flight even at a long distance... Obviously there is a limit to everything. That said, the sharpness is already excellent at TA even at 400mm which goes from f4.5 to f5.6, the AF not even to mention it, responsive and extremely precise. The construction of this GM is remarkable, made from premium materials that are made to last. The ring for the extension of the barrel has a constant fluidity throughout the focal range, there are no pinches of any kind, while the one for the MF is a little too soft. As for the weight and dimensions, I think that 1400g is not at all excessive for this lens and then it is also relatively compact, as you know, quality requires its weight and its dimensions! If I really have to make a criticism of this beautiful zoom I tell you that; I would have preferred a lock/unlock button for the barrel rather than the friction ring, in fact, even when you walk with the lens facing downwards, it tends to stretch a bit.

sigma_24-70_f2-8dn_iiSigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art II

Pros: Solid construction, tropicalized, aperture ring, weight, versatility, minimum focusing distance, very responsive and precise AF, sharpness to spare, reasonable price for the lens category.

Cons: personally I don't see any!

Opinion: In my opinion, and for the years of experience I have gained as an amateur photographer let's say "evolved", I can safely say that this fantastic Sigma lens has nothing to fear when compared with other zooms of the same category, and not only that, I am also sure that it can give a hard time even to several fixed lenses of the most famous brands for its excellent performance. Already at f/2.8 and for almost the entire image, not just in the center, it has a class-leading sharpness! But the thing that leaves you pleasantly surprised is that the sharpness remains constant throughout the focal range. The edges, at full aperture, are slightly behind the image center "as it should be for the category of lens, especially for bright zooms like this". Having said that and just to be clear, we are talking about an all-round professional lens, you can also appreciate the excellent bokeh, never nervous and above all very fine and creamy, the points of light are perfectly circular and very pleasant to the eye. I must confess.... I have never been a lover of third-party lenses, whether zoom or fixed, but I must also admit that this lens convinced me 100%, not only for the optical qualities but also for how it is made, in fact, the materials can be seen and felt to the touch that are premium, made to last! even the lens hood, which often leaves a bit of time in many lenses, is built really well. Still in terms of construction, the rings, all of them, are fluid at the right point, even that of the diaphragms has the right step in the transition from one diaphragm to another, moreover, there is no play between the moving parts. The zoom barrel when it is at maximum extension, has absolutely no play sign this, that the construction is very fine and accurate. Another important aspect to point out, although it is not a lens designed for macro photography, in part it is as if it were, in fact the minimum distance is only 0.17m at 24mm and 0.34 at 70mm, thus allowing you to get very close to the subject and make a close-up of an insect, flower or anything else really rich in detail..... so much stuff!. The AF is fantastic, of course, the camera body also plays its part, I currently use a Sony A7rV, but I can safely say that it is very responsive and extremely precise, for sure it will not disappoint even the most demanding "like me". As for the mental fears that many people have about chromatic aberrations or flare, which I personally give little weight to "unless they are too evident", well I can tell you that even these aspects are almost non-existent or so minimal that you don't even notice the presence if there was any, especially in terms of aberrations.... As we all know, the perfect lens has not yet been invented. Ultimately; I am super satisfied with the performance of this superb all-rounder, and without any reservations or indecision, I highly recommend it!

sony_fe70-200_f4iiSony FE 70-200mm f/4 Macro G OSS II

Pros: Versatile, well built, compatible with teleconverters, minimum focusing distance, low weight, compact, very responsive and precise AF, remarkable macro despite not having a 1:1 ratio, surprising sharpness already at TA from edge to edge.

Cons: Cost, Lens hood a bit chip "the one of the first version is made better" but anyway it remains firmly in place, bracket for tripod too short.

Opinion: This zoom, in my opinion, has nothing to fear compared to fixed lenses so sharp it is. Already at full aperture and throughout the focal range it is sharp as hell, but the thing that leaves you pleasantly surprised is that the sharpness of the edges is almost the same as that of the image center, both at 70 and 200mm. That said, just to understand immediately, the bokeh is just as good, of course the distance of the subject matters a lot but I must say, as I see it, it is never nervous on the contrary, it is always fine and creamy. As for the macro aspect of this telephoto lens, a dutiful note: the first zoom lens in the world in this category equipped with medium macro functionality over the entire zoom range, and bearing in mind that it does not have a 1:1 ratio like dedicated macro lenses, it allows me to get closer to the subject at a distance of 0.26m at 70mm and at 0.42m at the telephoto focal length of 200mm, which makes a close-up of an insect, flower or anything else really rich in surprising details. The AF is crazy, of course, even the camera body plays its part, I currently use a Sony A7rV, but I can safely say that it is very responsive and extremely precise, for sure it will not disappoint even the most demanding "like me". The only two criticisms, beyond the high price, currently exceeds € 1,800/1,900.00, you could have made an extra effort for the lens hood and make it a little better, it does not have a release button and returns that vision and feeling a little "chip", honestly it clashes a bit with everything else ...., then, even if this last aspect bothers me less than the lens hood, the bracket for attaching the stand is too short, it seems to me a small stump put there just to...! Okay! Let's say that overall and all in all, you can also overlook these small tricks, even if in my opinion they should be said. Ultimately; I am super satisfied with the performance of this fantastic telephoto lens with macro function, and without any reservations or indecision, I highly recommend it!

tamron_28-75iii_f2-8g2Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2

Pros: Lightweight, well built, very responsive and precise AF, tropicalized, excellent color rendering, minimum focusing distance, very sharp already at f2.8.

Cons: Honestly I don't see any, especially for its price but above all for the performance it offers!

Opinion: I've never been a fan of third-party lenses, zoom or fixed, I've always preferred to spend a few euros more but buy native lenses for my cameras. I bought this zoom mostly out of curiosity but above all because in many reviews on the web, it is almost praised for its optical qualities, moreover at a cost accessible to many. As soon as it was installed on my Sony A7 Mark V 61 mpx I immediately thought "he doesn't have it, he will never be able to hold all these mpx!" ...... surprise! I was really stunned and I even exclaimed in a colorful way so the images are beautiful and sharp already at f2.8, incredible! Beyond the really remarkable detail not to mention the very fine and creamy Bokeh, even the colors that this lens returns are fantastic, warm and with that look very similar to the photographic films of the past, so much so that already the Raw files often do not even need interventions, they are already beautiful like this! "Obviously, you still have to get off to a good start with the settings in the car." Then, it has a really surprising focus at the minimum distance, especially at 28mm, where you almost touch the front lens so close you can get to the subject, this also allows excellent macros "see photos on my profile". The lens itself is well built, the materials are not "Premium" but not poor either, the feeling of solidity is perceived and there are no games whatsoever between the moving parts. The dials rotate smoothly, perhaps a little too soft that of the manual focus. The AF is very responsive and extremely accurate, I have never encountered any particular difficulties. Bought new on Amazon for just over €780.00, I have nothing to complain about and I'm fully satisfied. I highly recommend it!

sony_fe24-70gmSony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM

Pros: Excellent sharpness, in the center always very incisive "at f2.8 the edges remain a little behind the center both at 24 and 70mm, like almost all zooms!", very soft bokeh with beautiful circular lighting effects and never nervous, solid construction, focal range ring at the right hardness and without play whatsoever, obviously tropicalized, in a nutshell.... Professional and made to last!

Cons: If I have to find any: It costs a lot but in my opinion it's worth all the money spent. The burden for some,... NOT for me! quality with a "Q" takes its toll!

Opinion: As far as I'm concerned, and from what I've been able to test, comparing it to other professional 24-70mm f2.8 zooms I've used, and there are a lot of them, I can safely confirm the excellent image performance as well as the very solid construction. Beyond the pleasant sensation in handling this zoom, you immediately perceive the quality, I think it is built really well. The weight is there, you can't deny it, but I prefer a few grams/hectograms more and have a quality lens that, in addition to being performing, lasts me over time, rather than a lens built with vinavil and plastic to reduce the weight. Nowadays, on the market, there are various "plasticotti" that, although performing as well as paying for them in gold, often do not return a pleasant sensation and do not seem to be made to last. That said, the lens is sharp already at TA both at 24 and 70mm, it suffers a bit from flare in backlight and occasionally there are also slight aberrations at TA especially at 24mm, instead at 70mm they are almost non-existent. Nothing dramatic or irreparable, these are the typical and small drawbacks of a zoom that can be easily solved, both with automatic corrections in the car and with a program on the PC.... With due precautions these problems arise less, so I recommend that you always keep the lens hood on unless you are looking for special effects. I read about someone who is not satisfied with the sharpness of this lens, I use it on my Sony A7R Mark V 61mpx and despite the ultra dense and pretentious sensor, I have not noticed this drop in sharpness neither at 24mm nor at 70mm at TA, obviously I am talking about the image center, clear that, at the edges something at TA is always lost, Especially with very bright zooms, just close one or two stops to have a noticeable improvement even at the edges... From f5.6 up to f11 it's razor-sharp everywhere, closing the diffraction problem again takes over. As for the AF, I can say that it has never disappointed me, it is very responsive and precise. What can I say.... I'm more than satisfied and highly recommend it, as long as 886g isn't a problem for you!

fujifilm_100-400wrFujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR

Pros: Build quality, low weight, excellent stabilization, responsive and precise AF, excellent optical quality, excellent zoom smoothness.

Cons: Apart from the somewhat small tripod collar, I don't see any other contraindications worth mentioning.

Opinion: With great satisfaction I have been using this beautiful super zoom for some time, the more I use it the more it amazes me. I use it almost exclusively for birdlife shots and as far as I'm concerned, I don't feel the need to go further, for example by replacing it with the XF 150-600mm (already owned in the past) because you can take home beautiful shots of animals in flight even at long distances... Of course, there is a limit to everything! I remember that this lens covers a focal range that compared to the FF is equivalent to 150-600mm which is not cheap. I used it on the Fuji X-H2 and now I'm using it on the Fuji X-H2s, two fantastic cameras! I don't want to dwell on the technical specifications but I'm talking more about user experience, so.... used in fact, on X-H2/H2s camera bodies does not make you regret the expense faced as the sharpness is already raised to TA if we then close a third of a stop at 400mm, i.e. f/6.3, here the subject framed even at a distance still has a beautiful definition, at f/8 everything is even more defined! obviously you have to lord it over a bit with the ISO, let's say that up to 3200 ISO the detail is still very present and appreciable, beyond that it goes a bit fucked. The autofocus behaves very well, in fact there is a certain respectable reactivity and it is also very precise. The handheld use, at least for me, is not tiring at all despite the weight of 1.4 KG, moreover I find that it is also well balanced despite the fact that the barrel protrudes a little when you extend it. I recommend a Battery Grip to better counterbalance the weight and make the grip even firmer. Honestly, having tried the XF 150-600mm, I prefer it as it is not only less bulky but I also consider it to be at a higher level of versatility, construction and solidity. See photos taken with this Fantastic Zoom on my profile, especially with the X-H2. Happy shooting everyone!

canon_eos_r7Canon EOS R7

Pros: Compact (for many a Pro for me a little less), solid, tropicalized, stabilized, AF system, tracking and subject recognition, excellent burst, battery life, good color rendering, dual SD-UHS II card, full compatibility with FF RF mount optics and with adapter also EF optics.

Cons: Electronic viewfinder not very resolute, high iso hold, shooting with very noisy mechanical shutter, lack of Battery Grip, Rolling Shutter, Buffer.

Opinion:

canon_eos_r6iiCanon EOS R6 Mark II

Pros: In Electronic Shutter mode it is a lightning bolt, excellent dynamic range, well built, reliable and very performing AI, pleasant ergonomics, battery life, tropicalized, from Stand by mode to operational in a single blink of an eye, reliable even with intensive use, so much but so much Pro!

Cons: For the moment none!

Opinion: I have already had the opportunity to use the Canon R6 in the past, then for some reason that I still have to understand I switched to Fuji buying the latest born the X-H2s, the latter a great camera Praised by several photographers on YouTube and being able to compare their respective performance being passionate about nature photography, I immediately found a lower level than the AF performance of Canon R6. That said, getting off a Ferrari and getting on a VW Golf GTi I did not feel at all in the right driver's seat so on the occasion of the release of the new Canon R6 Mark II I resold the Fuji kit and I went back to Canon buying the R6 Mark II. I can only confirm the excellent performance qualities of this machine, already excellent in the previous R6 but with the second version the performance has been further refined. the AF works great as well as the Traking, once hooked the subject does not give it up anymore, even in light conditions that are not really favorable. The sensor has gone from 20 to 24 megapixels that cmq despite being a not significant increase the image quality has improved further, the battery is the same as the R6 but seems to last longer especially if we use the electronic shutter.... About electronic shutter! sometimes on the R6 shooting with the electronic I noticed slight deformations due to rolling shutter with the R6 Mark II I must say that I still have not encountered this problem despite the sensor is not Stacked, most likely Canon with the new sensor mounted on this R6 Mark II has managed to improve this drawback. From my point of view this camera is simply stratospheric, it makes you want to always hold it in your hand and shoot everything around you. Good shot to all!

canon_rf70-200_f4lCanon RF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM

Pros: Build quality, fast and accurate AF, excellent stabilization, not excessive weight, very sharp, tropicalized, professional.

Cons: If I really have to find them.... it is certainly very expensive and unfortunately it is not compatible with Tele Converters.

Opinion: I state that in the past I have already used this lens combined with the Canon R6 then sold to switch to Fuji X-H2s so I already knew the amazing optical qualities and more. Recently from the publication of this opinion and to be honest a little nostalgic of the FF, no that the Fuji X-H2s Apsc is poorly performing indeed it gave me a lot of satisfaction! I couldn't help but go back to basics, especially with the release of the new Canon R6 Mark II. After selling my Fuji kit I bought this lens again and I combined it with the new Canon Eos R6 Mark II.... guys needless to say that the combination is certainly one of the most apt, the images that churns out are really surprising, very sharp already at TA both in the center and at the edges, the AF goes that is a wonder both in speed and precision, the flare is almost absent as well as the vignetting (slightly present at TA), the chromatic aberrations are non-existent or almost, cmq all easily correctable in Post-production even if you can correct most of these small imperfections already in the machine by setting the appropriate correction functions. This fantastic lens would have been perfect if compatible with Canon's tele converters, I'm sure given the excellent sharpness that it would not have suffered in this regard. Too bad! The rings are very fluid and rubbed to the right hardness, neither too soft nor too hard moreover, although there is the zoom lock at 70mm, even without using it I have not yet seen the barrel stretch while walking with the optics facing down. Despite the maximum aperture of f4, the bokeh of this lens is very creamy / pasty and never nervous, obviously to have the best results you have to work at TA and have a certain foresight in maintaining the right distances between subject and background. We are certainly facing a zoom lens with great performance, it is true it costs a bit like all the lenses of the Canon L Series but it is also true that quality is paid. Good shot to all

fujifilm_55-200oisFujifilm XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS

Pros: Robust, very sharp lens "even at TA", AF fast enough, TA diaphragm not bad "f3.5-4.8".

Cons: Apart from the absent tropicalization, DO NOT HAVE PURCHASED IT BEFORE!

Opinion: As an owner of various Fuji lenses, I must say that this 55-200mm zoom remains one of my favorite lenses, I can safely confirm both the build quality and sharpness as well as an excellent compactness and a really low weight. Freehand, using safety times, you can already appreciate a high sharpness already at TA, mounted on my X-H2S I can get excellent shots of birds "not too pushed" as evidence that the stabilizer and AF work very well! Before buying this remarkable lens, I happened to read in some reviews (few), that exceeded a certain focal length, from 150mm up to 200mm, the lens begins to have a drop in sharpness even considerable, now, it will be that I happened to a perfect specimen .... bah! I don't think so luck!.... my 55-200 is sharp even at maximum extension and maximum aperture, obviously the distances between camera and subject must be considered but I can honestly say that I do not see this loss of sharpness, indeed I invite you to view some photos taken with this lens posted on my Juza profile. the AF goes a bit into crisis if there is poor light but this happens mainly with long focal lengths, vignetting such as flare are really minimal and are present only at TA in addition, distortion such as aberration is practically absent, things that instead I happen to find more clearly in much more expensive lenses! Using this medium canvas I understood one thing, sometimes it is not necessary to spend barrels of money to have a quality return and this lens is the testimony. I am really satisfied and highly recommend this Zoom!

fujifilm_16-55_f2-8wrFujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR

Pros: Excellent sharpness! accurate construction, No Flare, WR, Optics avowedly Professional. A masterpiece!

Cons: It is not stabilized, to have it you have to donate a kidney!

Opinion: If we want to talk about Fuji Zoom Lentics with attributes well.... this for me is definitely the "all-rounder" Zoom lens par excellence! Installed on our Fuji, I have an X-H2s, it is definitely a perfect combination from every point of view. The frames it returns are nothing short of stunning, at any focal length and already from f / 2.8 it is wonderfully sharp, if we then close a Stop and beyond the sharpness it becomes even exaggerated! The blur is nice creamy ideal for portraits, more than suitable for Street Photography and of course also suitable for landscapes, wedding photos, family, etc. etc., a versatile, reliable zoom and AF both fast and precise and silent. The diaphragm ring is very precise with the right Click, that of the focal range and MF are frictioned at the right point! It is made with first-rate material, even that bit of plastic material used and first-rate, NO plasticaccia! Put simply, this Fuji Zoom lens is simply a C A P O L A V O R O! Although this Zoom has been in production since 2015, it remains cmq always current, valid and highly sought after for the Fuji kit, it is to have absolutely! Make some sacrifices but buy it is really worth all the money it costs and in my opinion even something more! Good shot to all!

fujifilm_18-135oisFujifilm XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR

Pros: Versatile, tropicalized, build quality, top image stabilizer, very good flare resistance, excellent sharpness at closed apertures "f/5.6 - f/11, telephoto area also f/16",

Cons: Considering that we are talking about a mid-range all-round Zoom I would say nothing special!

Opinion: From my point of view it is an all-rounder to own absolutely! contrary to many who prefer fixed lenses certainly with better performance than Zoom even if not always! I love zooms, first for the versatility in focal length and second, once mounted to the camera body because of the versatility it offers, you do not have the thought of changing lenses frequently unless you always shoot at the same focal length "what balls!". Compared to another Fuji all-rounder the XF 16-80mm F4 that I owned and sold just to replace this lens, I can say that beyond the greater focal range that this Zoom offers, it also offers a better rendering in image quality, on the other hand we lose those 2mm wide angle compared to the XF 16-80mm F4 but nothing more and if I have to be honest, For the use I make of it I have never suffered from this loss, the wide-angle shots are equally good! another comparison that I can make compared to the XF 16-80mm F4 is the aperture, but considering the poor yield at F4 of the latter seeing me so forced to close an F / Stop to have more sharpness, with the XF 18-135mm this problem does not arise in fact, at F / 5.6 the lens already works very well at any focal length, except for the extreme Tele that goes from 110mm to 135mm, at this focal length in fact to have a sharp and uniform image on almost the entire frame, it is advisable to close at least at F / 8. The stabilizer of this Zoom is simply amazing! I think one of the best I've ever tried, so much so that it allows shots at very low times without being forced to raise the ISO, obviously also contributes a steady hand but I can guarantee that the 5 Stop of the stabilizer work really well. The blurred is not screaming but based on the distance and aperture you get excellent results, I like it! As for the Zoom excursion, I confirm what many have already said, in fact even my XF18-135mm has a certain resistance in the final stretch ranging from 100 to 135mm, finally, however, I do not agree so much on the complaints of the hood, beyond the material with which it is made "plastic, the most common!", I do not understand where the problem is ..... Mounted following the indication of the reference dot of the hood and the small dash placed on the lens, it fits very well and remains firm, without ever having perceived that feeling of fragility. Good shot to all!

Pros: Excellent ergonomics, very robust and built to perfection, stacked sensor with the right compromise of megapixels (26), fast and precise AFC (if we update it with the latest firmware 3.00), excellent color rendering with the possibility of various film simulation settings, churns out excellent JPG files ready to use, sufficiently good hold at high ISO, remarkable burst speed, tropicalized.

Cons: Above ISO 3200 the noise begins to be noticed a lot, quite slow in reactivating the functions from standby mode to operation.

Opinion: With the latest Firmware Update 3.00 released by Fuji on 12.01.2023 .... finally this machine has reached a level of AFC more than satisfactory, I dare say Excellent! in fact, if someone has read my previous personal opinion, I was complaining about the fact that the AFC was not performing in particular with fast-moving subjects such as birds, now, when you activate the burst and you want to catch a fast-moving bird, not only is it accurate but does not give it up anymore! with a burst of 40 FPS all or almost all the "shots" are scored, and for someone like me passionate about nature shots in particular birdlife, well I can confirm that the X-H2s has greatly changed the performance of AF and can finally compete head-on with other famous brands on the market! Among the sore points unfortunately I point out the tightness at high ISO, of course we are talking about an Apsc sensor where the ISO as known do not forgive but against all odds I would have expected at least a good seal at 6400 ISO being a camera body of the latest generation instead, already at 3200 ISO the frame has a decent noise cmq fully usable but I strongly advise against exceeding this range if you do not want to see spiders, worms and whatnot! Regarding other painful notes, I noticed a certain slowness in the transition from the "stby to use" mode takes a few moments too long and often this slowness made me lose precious and unrepeatable shots, there is a slight improvement only if we set the Booster mode but not much! I want to conclude in beauty by saying that the Stacked sensor works great! the image quality does not change compared to the shots taken with the Mechanical Shutter, no distortion of image, subject or other! it is so reliable that it is my favorite shooting mode with birdlife last but not least, Fuji's color rendering is unparalleled, even RAW files are already beautiful! Good shot to all!

fujifilm_16-80_f4wrFujifilm XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR

Pros: Tropicalized optics, solid construction, well finished and made almost entirely of metal, stabilized, af precise, fast and very quiet, sharpness overall satisfactory!

Cons: You have to accept compromises, at f / 4 it is always fairly soft especially at the edges, even more at 16mm as at 80mm ....... nothing dramatic!

Opinion: My opinion on this objective is unfortunately not entirely positive, in the sense of; Weeks have passed now never since the purchase and I have already used it enough to realize its potential and I state that all in all, if used with due attention, it is not so disappointing as they say in some reviews, certainly it has shortcomings that certainly do not benefit its reputation but it also has excellent qualities. The defects of this lens in my opinion are: first of all it is a zoom lens that is never able to reach or almost, an excellent sharpness (for these performances it is better to fall back on a fixed), reaches a sufficiently good level at times excellent this yes, but never sharp in particular, from 16mm to about 20mm and then from over 70mm up to 80mm any aperture you use, almost all of the image is always a bit soft, vice versa, in the intermediate zoom range and that is from 20mm and up to 70mm, with aperture closed at least at f / 5.6 and up to f / 11 without closing further, we get beautiful images with a good level of sharpness and detail but even here unfortunately the edges not even so extreme, They are never as sharp as the center. As for the merits of this zoom I can tell you that: it is tropicalized, OIS "up to 6 stops", it is a lens made almost entirely of metal, it does not have excessive weight, it has a very well frictioned zoom ring as well as that of manual focus, it has a very precise autofocus system, super responsive and above all it is also extremely silent to such an extent that it is difficult to perceive the noise of the mechanisms interior, has a very versatile focal range the so-called "all-rounder", does not alter the wonderful Fuji colors, the barrel at maximum extension has no play. Considering that we are talking about a standard zoom not considered professional, with a constant maximum aperture of f/4, well! I think some compromises are legitimate.

fujifilm_xf150-600wrFujifilm XF 150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR

Pros: Tropicalized, zoom / internal focal range, very low weight for the category, just over 1600g, fast focus, fairly precise and totally silent, superzoom with clear optical rendering, sharp even at TA, generous tripod hook, color, built with first-rate material, respectable focal length 150-600mm (229-914mm equivalent on FF).

Cons: Probably for some the f / 8 is reason to "cry scandal" from my point of view is irrelevant considering that the diaphragm closes so from 539mm to 600mm (809-900mm equivalent on FF).

Opinion: It is a SuperZoom with incredible manageability despite its size, the excellent image stabilization system and the excellent final rendering of the file make it even more pleasant to use. Compared with other Superzoom such as Canon 100-500mm, Sony 100-400mm and Sony 200-600mm, just to name a few and that I got to use in unsuspected times, I would say that this Mr. Zoom (used with due care) has nothing to envy to the competition indeed, if we consider that the zooms listed above are used on FF systems my statement is more justified by the fact that the Fuji XF 150-600mm while working On the APS-C system does not highlight particular deficiencies worthy of note "this is obviously a purely personal opinion and based on the experience gained". The brightness is obviously not from fixed Supertele that above all to have one you have to donate a kidney but, as far as I'm concerned, it has enough brightness to allow you to make excellent shots even in low light conditions, obviously within certain limits! I managed to make freehand shots of birds sharp and without shake with times well below the safety threshold, obviously thanks to the flagship body aps-c "Fuji X-H2S" which certainly helps to further improve performance, on the other hand this optics is associated with this camera body of the latest generation is like saying bread and jam, Perfect combination! As for the construction quality, both the barrel and all the components do not disappoint and I can confirm with flying colors the excellent realization, you can appreciate the quality of the materials used both visually and to the touch as well as the extreme attention to detail. The color is very pleasant, a light and opaque gray / silver, out of the standards of the usual "Bianconi", the only discordant note perhaps is the hood, in my opinion it would have been better in color rather than black. PERSONAL CONCLUSION: In my opinion it is a lens designed mainly for wildlife photos in particular for birdlife, this does not mean that it can be used in other areas but, for birdlife I see this SuperZoom particularly suitable especially when we want to photograph small subjects such as birds at considerable distance. Analyzing more specifically the files produced by this lens, disabling the lens correction both in the camera and on Lightroom, I could see a slight chromatic aberration at TA in conditions of strong light contrast, easily solved in post-production or closing one / two stops. The vignetting is also present especially at long focal lengths (like almost all the Zoom that cover long focal lengths), to completely eliminate the phenomenon just close the aperture at f / 8 or correct in post-production, finally to be picky, you notice a very slight distortion at the minimum focal distance .... practically irrelevant. LAST thing, this beautiful SuperZoom as already mentioned in the Pros, already has an excellent sharpness at TA but reaches the apex from f / 8 to f / 11. Good shot to all!
