sony_e11_f1-8Sony E 11mm f/1.8

Pros: Sharpness, weight, size, optical qualities in general.

Cons: Honestly for performance and price I can't find any.

Opinion: Sharp already at TA and improves by closing a few stops for the edges. Free of noticeable chromatic aberrations or flares. Coupled with the 6700 it doesn't even make you regret the lack of the stabilizer. Perfect for travel and mountains because it is really small and light. It skews towards the thirds but we are talking about an 11mm... You don't work miracles at these focal lengths. However, the distortion remains controlled and manageable in post. The lack of stabilizer allows weights, dimensions and also low prices; It's a design choice I wouldn't point to as a con, especially if you have a stabilized body. Very happy with the purchase.

sony_fe90macroSony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS

Pros: Sharp, robust, AF-MF ring, AF great to be macro, stabilized.

Cons: It suffers from very noticeable diffraction from f14.

Opinion: It is a macro, so it is likely that it is often used with closed apertures. I had other macro lenses (90 tamron and 100 pentax) and I must say that I almost never encountered diffraction problems before buying this lens. It left me with a bad taste in my mouth. In principle it is a very clear objective, corrected for both distortion and aberrations. Very robust and with a remarkable AF for the category. The change of mode from AF to MF via anelo I found very convenient. At home sony there are not many alternatives for macros, perhaps the sigma 105 but it is not stabilized.... Let's say that for me it's a love-hate relationship.

sony_fe24-105_f4ossSony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS

Pros: Focal range, construction, overall performance, good sharpness

Cons: Dimensions, weight

Opinion: I start from the sharpness that is good but not excellent. It is certainly not the sharpest lens of the sony line but it defends itself well in every situation (used in A6000-A7RIII-A7IV). It is an all-rounder that is among the most comfortable and useful in the category. Excellent construction and good resistance to moisture and dust. In general it is a good objective, optically correct without particular deformations or aberrations. The price today is definitely in line with performance. It's a bit bulky and heavy to be an F4 lens but it's still the lightest in its category. Happy with the purchase.

sony_a6700Sony A6700

Pros: Autofocus, construction, weight and dimensions, new sensor, improved stabilizer

Cons: High ISO yield; side viewfinder; They did not implement the shots per second.

Opinion: Starting from the disadvantages I would indicate as first the yield at high ISO. Compared to the A6600 (which I owned and had a normal yield) I find that for the same light there is about 1/3 maybe 1/2 stop of noise more. The 11 shots per second are great for many things but a camera like this, devoted to the "dynamic" side of photography, could have given something more. The side viewfinder makes aiming more difficult when mounted you have a telephoto lens (for example the 200-600). With the same equivalent focal length, compared to the A7 or A9 families I sometimes have to look for the subject longer before framing it or even moving the eye away from the eyepiece to look for it again and then return to aim. Let's talk about the positive aspects which are many. The AI linked to AF is remarkable, it almost always finds the subject regardless of what the surrounding environment is. The AF on the eye or head allows you to always have the subject in focus where the focus is needed. Excellent performance even with 1.4x converter on 200-600. The construction is excellent on the line of the A6600. Weight and size make it a perfect travel companion. The new sensor is more "crisp" than the previous one and the difference is noticeable especially at medium / low iso. The ergonomics are better than the A6600 and despite having relatively large hands I have no problem holding it and finding the keys. The stabilizer in the car works better than the previous version and finally I find it adequate for the machine segment. After a few thousand shots I am very happy with the purchase. PS. SCANDALOUS that in the box there is not even the battery charger.

sony_a9_iiSony A9 II

Pros: Those already widely cited as autofocus, high ISO, configurability, ergonomics etc.

Cons: Very low rolling shutter but still present in dynamic shots, exaggeratedly intrusive AA filter.

Opinion: Love and hate for this car. I was looking for a sports body and it is certainly the area in which it gives the best of itself. Af lightning fast and precise, high iso good thanks to the AA filter more than the sensor itself. Excellent ergonomics for sony home and excellent configurability. The rolling shutter is present, it comes out only in very dynamic situations. The general idea that it is not there is due to the fact that simply in 99% of the photographs it is so imperceptible that it results in the actual use absent. The thing I literally hated is the AA filter. At low iso "eats" file quality which is therefore less sharp than it could be. At high iso it does its job, however, this interpolation of the photo makes denoise programs that work better on "smooth" files less effective. This machine is certainly valid in many aspects but I must say that for the investment it requires it did not give me the satisfaction I was looking for.

sony_a7ivSony A7 IV

Pros: Sensor, configurability, ergonomics, AF, file.

Cons: Sufficient battery life, rolling shutter, 6 fps in uncompressed raw burst, mediocre ibis, overbuilt.

Opinion: The vastly improved menu and the ability to sew the configuration of the keys with a brush, make this machine more lovable than previous models. The ergonomics are there; both as a size of the grip and as a position and quality of the keys. The sensor is definitely valid both in sharpness and as a dynamic range. In real use, the noise at high iso is absolutely in line with other sony sensors and the difference with an A7III or an A7RIII is as imperceptible as it is negligible. The AF works very well and I was amazed by the reliability with the coupled 1.4x and 200-600. The files are excellent and have a recovery of lights and shadows up to expectations. The "chubby" car and battery life in my opinion has decreased from models such as the A7RIII or the A9II. The sony declares the camera at 10fps both in mechanical and electronic but there is a nice asterisk that is often not mentioned, or that in raw uncompressed frames per second drop to 6 with mechanical shutter. The fact above if we want is "aggravated" by a marked rolling shutter effect with electronic shutter. The stabilization in the car is mediocre and inferior to many of the other machine manufacturers. In my opinion these defects, which are in some cases simply software limits imposed by the parent company, make this machine overpriced by a few hundred euros. Net of all I must say that the machine gives excellent satisfaction and I am actually happy with the purchase.

sony_fe20_f1-8gSony FE 20mm f/1.8 G

Pros: Sharpness, construction, dimensions, weight

Cons: A bit of aberrations against light

Opinion: An excellent lens, correct as distortion, excellent sharpness already at TA, excellent construction. Size and weight make it easy to carry and use. Possibility to mount screw filters. In the backlight there are magenta aberrations that can still be managed in post. In cost it is adequate to the product. I found it excellent for underwater photography as well

sigma_18-50_f2-8dnSigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN

Pros: Size, weight, sharpness up to 3/4, value for money

Cons: Distortion, a bit of aberrations in strong light conditions

Opinion: Balanced optics in performance and price. It prefers compactness and lightness without losing sharpness but compromising on other optical characteristics. First of all the distortion always marked at every focal length. Aberrations are present in strong, reflective light conditions. Weight and size make it an excellent travel companion especially on compact bodies such as the A6XXX series. The stabilizer is missing but it is not a con since you buy knowing it. The blurry is pleasant. Essential construction but of good workmanship. In conclusion, a lens capable of giving good shots.

sony_a6600Sony A6600

Pros: Size, Weight, AF, construction, sensor, stabilizer; FZ100 batteries

Cons: Inevitably the dimessione compromise ergonomics and what follows, Rolling shutter, stabilizer

Opinion: Let's start with the cons. The machine is small and consequently the keys, grip and position of the viewfinder are not as comfortable as in other machines of other brands. The viewfinder is definitely mediocre. If I am not mistaken, the sensor is the same as the other A6XXX and like the others it suffers in a rather marked way from rolling shutter forcing very often to use the mechanical shutter. The pros are however many starting from a really good AF. I shot with the 200-600 multiplied by 1.4 and I must say that I have a very high focus photo rating. If the small size is an ergonomic problem, it is also a great advantage in terms of weight and dimensions. Combined with the 18-50 sigma that I own (or similar) you have an instrument with great potential with minimal weight and dimensions. The feeling in the hand is of a solid and well-made instrument that can last over time (construction completely different from the other A6XXX that I had the opportunity to try). The sensor although dated I must say that it remains great even by today's standards. The files have excellent chances of recovering lights and shadows and associated with valid lenses gives sharp and rich shots (for the 24mpx available). The stabilizer helps on many occasions but as proven in other sony machines it does not seem on par with the competition. The ZF100 battery allows you to shoot quietly for a whole day (easily 700-800 shots) and is a huge step forward compared to previous models. Last thing the iso seal that I found good but not exceptional and that does not differ much from what has been seen in other A6XXX models. In conclusion, a good machine that becomes excellent for all those who need something more to capture especially dynamic scenes.

sony_18-135ossSony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS

Pros: Dimensions, weight, focal range, quality/price ratio

Cons: Plastic, not very bright, chromatic aberrations

Opinion: Let's start from the sharpness that define "Ok". It's not mind-blowing but it doesn't leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth. Size, weight and focal range make it an absolutely amiable all-rounder. If purchased in kit or used the quality / price ratio makes it one of the most valid lenses in its category. The stabilizer also works properly. The focal length ring is smooth and pleasant, the focus (tested on a mediocre A6000) is more than good. Surely with more performing machine models it is also better. The cons are the classic ones of optics of this type and price range... a bit plastic (but you don't have the impression of fragility). Goal certainly dark but this is a con that leaves the time he finds .... I do not know of significantly brighter analogues. It suffers from aberrations on points of light. Not star even with closed diaphragms. In conclusion, in its category, a perspective that can be very useful and can give satisfaction.

sony_a6000Sony A6000

Pros: Value for money, sensor and file quality, good af

Cons: Build quality, battery life, high iso yield

Opinion: Despite its years it is a machine that can give satisfaction. Combined with good optics it gives sharp and reasonably malleable files. The AF sector does its job. Machine in hand, the ergonomics are not particularly pleasant as well as the feeling of solidity that is not great. Another flaw is the batteries that provide a decidedly limited autonomy. The yield at high ISO is in line with the year of design and today is average. However, I must say that the car behaves well in many situations. Weight and bulk make it a friend for travelers or for those who want to be "light". Considering then the prices of the second-hand market you can take home very little. Net of everything I find it is still an attractive machine that I recommend to those who are beginners and have a limited budget.

sony_fe1-4xSony FE 1.4x

Pros: Optical rendering, versatility of the converter.

Cons: Af poorly performing on 200-600 and sony A7r2/3.

Opinion: Leaving aside the use on supertele that I am not lucky enough to have available, I find myself partially in disagreement with what was written in the previous review. I used the converter on A7R2 and A7R3 with the 100-400 GM and 200-600 G respectively. From an optical point of view the loss is there; but if the subject is well lit, you use an adequate time and there are no atmospheric distortions you get sharp photos and above all sharper than the crop factor. Below some examples ---- https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=4064260 ---- https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=4058229/https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=3998887 ---- https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=3971569 ---- https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=3946719 ---- https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=3863268 ---- https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=3863259 ---- AF side the 100-400 continues to behave very well while the 200-600 limps. In my opinion, it remains an interesting tool to have in support.

pentax_12-24Pentax SMC DA 12-24mm f/4 ED AL

Pros: Quite sharp; beautiful colors and good flare resistance; in principle, a balanced objective; weight and size

Cons: Distortion, price; not tropicalized

Opinion: Used on KP. Goal that I liked enough; sufficiently sharp, good flare resistance and gives a nice star effect by closing a few stops in the diaphragm. He does not suffer from particular abberrations. However, the lens is dated and this makes the lens inferior to other lenses equivalent but more recent than other brands (sigma art type). The price after years remains considerable and even in the used market the lens is not cheap. The distortion is very pronounced and this with subjects placed to third parties can be a problem. Small and light proves very comfortable on the go. Having to give a vote is a 7 out of 10.

pentax_k3Pentax K-3

Pros: Pro construction, tropicalization, double slot, 24mp quality

Cons: Iso seal, optical park

Opinion: It is necessary to contextualize the machine and its performance at the time of its exit, useless to compare it with recent models. As far as I'm concerned he gave great shots. The images are rich in details, with a good dynamic range and the files I find malleable. The construction is professional with excellent grip and controls in the right place. Tropicalization is excellent. Stabilization is useful even if it does not work miracles. Pentax tends not to stabilize the objectives by greatly sponsoring stabilization in the machine, however for models such as the k-5 or k3 stabilization in the machine I find it at the limit of sufficiency. The iso seal today is certainly poor but maybe it is aligned for the apsc sensors of the period. If you find a good used I find that it is still a good machine today, however it is necessary to make a reflection on the brand in general especially with regard to the optical park that turns out to be expensive, limited and largely dated.

sony_a7r_iiiSony A7r III

Pros: 42 MP; Af; ISO seal; size; weight; file workability; battery life

Cons: Electronic viewfinder; menu; ignition time; weight and size (under pattern)

Opinion: Bought a year ago, used almost exclusively for photos, and after this period I can only be pleased. The sensor guarantees a quantity of superlative details and a good high iso seal (it shoots well even at 6400). The files are excellent and can be processed in any way with great shadow recovery. The AF is valid and clearly gives its best with G or GM optics, its settings cover every range of use. The size and weight make it easily transportable and convenient for trips and out-of-door trips. At the same time, however, what is an advantage becomes a disadvantage when using long or heavy telephoto jections that make the system un balanced; in these situations I opted for the purchase of a vertical grip that makes the trim perfect again. Another advantage is the excellent battery life that quietly guarantees 7/800 shots. Although it has a good evf it suffers from a basic problem: it displays images that are too bright. This can lead from time to time not to trust the exposure.... Wrong. The menu is messed up, fortunately there are many tutorials on the web and there is always a way to set up the machine correctly. Another weakness is the ignition time, even from the standby, which on some rare occasions can cause the shot to be lost. As written at the beginning, even evaluating the cons, it is definitely a purchase that I would make again.

sony_fe70-200_f4Sony FE 70-200 f/4 G OSS

Pros: Construction, Phenomenal

Cons: Sharpness, cost, chromatic aberrations

Opinion: I used it on the A7R3 and was disappointed overall. The AF is undoubtedly excellent, one of the best ever tried and the construction is of a very good standard. However, mechanical qualities are being put into the background by optical gaps. The sharpness on the 42mp sensors is definitely insufficient at TA and only improves by closing by a stop or 2. There are also important chromatic abberrations even in light situations that are not so critical. The cost is important and genuinely inadequate for optical performance. I was much more counting than the 70-200 F4 L IS USM of the canon used with adapter. Finally, I would say that I resold the optics after just over a month, the only time it happened to me.

sony_fe16-35_f4Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS Vario Tessar T*

Pros: Sharpness at all focal points, construction, "standard" filter port, performing AF

Cons: Cost of the new, you score easily

Opinion: Excellent lens both from the point of view of optical quality and construction. It also has no problem with the a7r2 or r3's 42mp sensors. Af works very well. The ability to mount filters or screw filter port makes it versatile. As an F4 lens I would have preferred to weigh less but in any case it is not prohibitive, on the contrary, it weighs less than the competition. The cost of the new one I find quite elevated always in relation to the maximum opening of F4. The paint lines up quite easily. In any case, the pros are worth much more than the cons and the optics are definitely a good purchase.

canon_300_f2-8lCanon EF 300mm f/2.8 L USM

Pros: Sharpness, price

Cons: Weight, spare parts, not stabilized

Opinion: I use it with the Sony A7RIII via adapter so the AF side doesn't guarantee me the same performance as a canon body, however the AF is reliable and fast enough. Sharp side solves the 42 megapixels already at TA well to become very sharp already at F3.2. An excellent optics. Weight is important and the age of the project makes it difficult to find spare parts. The lack of stabilizer makes it difficult to get under certain shooting speeds by penalising situations with little light. Obviously if you buy such an optics today it is because of the affordable price despite the performance from F2.8 line L. Still a valid choice.

sony_fe200-600Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS

Pros: Sharpness, weight, construction, price, good stabilizer

Cons: If I wanted to find one at all costs, I would say the balance

Opinion: The thing that struck me most is the sharpness, already at TA it is excellent. I also have a 300m F4 canon and I have to say that the difference in sharpness is so little that it is negligible. Despite the very low weight for its category, using it with an A7R3 without vertical grip you still find yourself having a good part of the weight on the front arm. The responsibility lies with the low weight of the machine, in fact I will buy a vertical grip in the near future. The realization is of quality, excellent finishes and I must say that holding it you also have a nice feeling of rigidity and resistance. I would have liked to have had notches blocking the bracket ring in the various vertical and horizontal positions. The value for money I think is another great workhorse for this perspective and I don't think there is any better currently for these focal lengths. The af used with the A7R3 is very good but works wonders with the R4 and A9 first and second version. The lampshon I find excellent, a nice interlocking and overall of excellent workmanship with a "big" plastic not too rigid and with a rubber ring in conjunction with the end of the lampshon that makes everything more resistant to a possible (small) impact and makes it practical to support the "head" lens. The stabilizer works well, with a little steady hand you can take it at 1/320 getting pretty sharp photos. In every situation it is of great help, especially at 600m. It does not present chromatic aberrations, even with subjects in the backlight do not come out obscenities of unnatural color. Another advantage I find is the lack of elongation that guarantees the infiltration of much less poor and greatly helps tropicalization. Very happy with the purchase. UPDATE: I bought the vertical grip and I have to say that the balance is perfect. I also confirm the construction goodness following use in the rain and (un wished) an important impact that left no sign or consequence.

Pros: Weight and size, versatility.

Cons: The final rubber tip of the various feet unscrewed... and you lose

Opinion: Light, well-crafted and quite compact. A good tool for travel or excursions. The ability to convert a leg into a monopod makes it very versatile. With heavy optics it is definitely not granite; I wouldn't shoot at 1/10 of a second with a 500mm f4, but still manages to do its job (clearly the head affects the result). As I said the final rubber part of each individual leg is screwed and this gignifica that unscrewed if not fixed with a brake or similar. Unfortunately, in a short time I lost one, not realizing it.

tamron_90macroTamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro

Pros: Value for money

Cons: Lack of a stabilizer

Opinion: A very balanced lens between performance and price. In production for a long time so easily available in used at really very affordable prices. Used in conjunction with the sony A7r3, it solves the sensor's 42mps well. Even the AF (via metabones V) I find it adequate to be a macro target. A bit plastic overall but sufficiently solid the chè makes the optics light and suitable for travel and excursions. I think it suffers a little bit of abberity in the high lights but nothing dramatic. The focus dial has a shot that ensures the rapid transition from AF to MF useful on several occasions. I'm happy with that.

pentax_400_f5-6faPentax SMC FA 400mm f/5.6 ED (IF)

Pros: Construction

Cons: Ta sharpness, color content, age and what follows

Opinion: Tried on K1II. Bought after using the 300 da, I hoped to find the same quality but it was not so. The optics are soft at TA and even closing the diaphragm never gets to solve the 36mpx of the machine. I also noticed a slight dominant magenta in several shots. AF of course of other times, it is unfair to want to compare it with the most modern goals. Availability and cost make it a further problem. Probably excellent lens in the years of its conception, today I did not find it satisfactory on full format. However I would not have stumbled upon an unfortunate model

Pros: Discreet optical kit, price to use

Cons: It has its obvious limitations that must be compared to the price

Opinion: I do not go down to the technical specific because you can find all sorts of reviews about it. I say that he gave me shots that I still like a lot years later. I remember all its limitations such as open diaphragms sharpness and plastic construction (which makes it light) tropicalization not too effective in my opinion, especially against dust. To start a great companion, a lens that on the go you can mistreat without remorse thanks to the low price of optics.

pentax_100_macroPentax SMC D-FA 100mm f/2.8 macro

Pros: Sharpness, used price, weight.

Cons: Plastic, it's on the edge of embarrassment.

Opinion: Bought used for just under 200 euros. With this premise I can say "little expense so much yield". The optics are sharp enough at TA and become sharp from f3.5 or f4 forward. The size and weight are small, making it a practical way to carry in your backpack. Unfortunately the construction is plastic and does not inspire confidence, not as much as the other pentax optics. The AF is embarrassing.... a problem shared by many macro targets but particularly evident in this lens. Despite its flaws I was able to take great photos with both 36 mpx FF sensors and 24 mpx APSC sensors. Found also useful for non-macro photography. I am satisfied with the purchase.

sigma_50-500osSigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM

Pros: Focal excursion, versatility, discreet construction, price to use

Cons: Sharpness

Opinion: I say that I do landscape and naturalistic photography and that my opinions are based on this kind of experience. For me it was a Love-Hate relationship. Bought again in 2017 I used it in really difficult situations, from the ice of the poles to the mountains of centennial Asia alternating satisfaction with frustration. Such a focal excursion allows you to take up so many opportunities without running into the problem of changing the goal. This allowed me to take home shots that I otherwise could never have done. Unfortunately, however, versatility is paid for with the poor image quality. At long focal points it begins to be sharp enough to f7.1 to beam its best from f8 to f11. This means having a really dark view and in many areas difficult to use. On a 36 mpx ff, however, you never have sharp photos enlarging the photo to 100%.... reaching 60% of the actual size you notice a very important softness. A right lens for itinerant photography that must be taken into account its limitations.

Pros: Sharpness, construction, tropicalization

Cons: Missing stabilizer

Opinion: I say that I am passionate about landscape and naturalistic photos and that my opinion comes from these kinds of use. The clearest lens ever had. Well built, robust and interperie-resistant. Sharp to TA and becomes a razor already from f4.5. Used on both KP and K1-II. On FF sensor we have sharpness up to 100% of the photo. It lacks stabilizer but thanks to the stabilized machine bodies I managed to shoot anyway at 1/200 freehand getting sharp photos. Nice blurry and discreet AF. One of the best purchases ever made.

Pros: Great focal excursion, good AF, great construction

Cons: Price

Opinion: I say that I am passionate about landscape and natural photography and my impressions relate to the use in these areas. Bought used. Tried on both KP and K1-II. Sharp objective, to have maximum yield you need to close to f7,1 or f8. On 36mpx sensor, the photos are crisp up to a zoom of 80%. On FF 36mpx it is therefore a lens that does not allow you to make the most of the machine's capabilities. Very nice blur. I didn't notice chromatic aberrations. The lampshade is not a work of art but I honestly wouldn't call it against. For the performance we are talking about the price from new is high but if you find used it is worth it.

Pros: iso seal, dimesion and weight (compared to K5, K3), extra control ring; tropicalization, stabilization

Cons: Batteries

Opinion: I would like to say that I am passionate about landscape and naturalistic photography and my impressions refer to use in these areas. Bought again in December 2018 and paired with the K1 I already owned. Used in different situations both "humid" and "snowy" without ever having had problems. Stabilization in the car is great. Despite the small size (compared to the other pentax home APSC I had) it grips well also thanks to the interchangeable grips. Good dynamic range and raw files from about 30-35 MB work well. When coupled with quality goals, it gives excellent photos. Particularly fond of pairing with the 300 DA* with which you can get good photos even at 2500 ISO. Used is located on 650/700 euros. At this price it is a machine with truly exceptional characteristics. Batteries are the most sore point, you need to have at least 2 for an out-of-port trip and at least 3 for a challenging trip.

Pros: A tank, tropicalization, batteries, better iso seal than the first version

Cons: Weight, Objective Availability, Depreciation, Future of the Brand

Opinion: I say that I am passionate about landscape and natural photography and my impressions relate to the use in these areas. Purchased new at the beginning of 2017 as the first version and updated on the II in April 2019. I've really used it in everything from pole ice to African safaris to the mountains of Central Asia. He's always been up to the job. Batteries also withstand extreme cold conditions. The iso seal has been improved compared to the first version making possible good shots up to 3200 iso (taken even further but can not be called "beautiful photos"). Excellent dynamic range, Raw files from about 45/50 MB work very well. When paired with clear goals, it gives great photos. Heavy but extremely solid. Less performing than the Sony/Nikon/Canon range equivalents. The problem with me was the availability of quality canvases, both used and new, which prompted me to change brands. Compared to other brands the range available is slime and even third-party houses are stopping producing K bayonets. I saw used bodies at 1200/1400 euros, at those prices remains a machine unparalleled on the market.
