nikon_85_f1-4dNikon AF 85mm f/1.4 D

Pros: Spectacular bokeh, perfect for portraits.

Cons: No one in its kind.

Opinion: I am not a "portraitist", but when I happen to do some portraits, this lens gives me great satisfaction, it makes real miracles. For me it's fantastic. An exceptional bokeh, I follow those who have defined this lens "the cream machine": it deserves this name in full. Worth all the money spent, I recommend it. For me I vote 10.

lowepro_protactic_bp350aw_iiLowepro ProTactic BP 350 AW II

Pros: Safe in crowded locations

Cons: Upper compartment not so comfortable

Opinion: An excellent backpack, sturdy and indestructible. Great if you have to photograph / travel in crowded areas since the opening gives on the back, so impossible to carry out the theft. I don't like the upper compartment where in theory a camera should be put: a more squared shape would have been better. Also to extract it from there you have to remove the backpack. Much better the use of the two side compartments. Excellent positioning (integrated) of the rain cap. I would have preferred an integrated tripod holder system instead of the separate one supplied. I would buy it again for the reasons of robustness and safety that I mentioned.

nikon_50_f1-8eNikon 50mm f/1.8 Series E

Pros: Compactness and lightness

Cons: Lower construction than other E-Series

Opinion: Certainly a lens to have in your photographic kit. The famous "pancake", the 50 mm Nikon smaller (really small!) and is also f/1.8. The thing I didn't like is the construction of this E Series that doesn't live up to the other Series E objectives that I employed. For example, the 100 mm and 70-210 (both E-series) are built much better, more solid and the mechanics are great. I didn't feel that on the same level. Probably the 50 f/1.8 pancake of the AIS series is better (I hope to try it). I still gave him a 9 rating because his compactness and excellent openness in such a small body are record-breaking.

nikon_100_f2-8eNikon 100mm f/2.8 Series E

Pros: Light, compact, high-performance, f/2.8, easy to use.

Cons: Nobody.

Opinion: For me this lens is an exceptional project that would have deserved even an AIS version. A 100 mm f/2.8 so compact and high-performance makes me think that to have excellent optics you do not need to have certain dimensions, weights and ... related costs. Let's talk about a canvas that weighs 200 grams with filters of 52. Manual focus, sure: precise and fluid dial, simple and perfect mechanics. I do not understand that there is another 100 mm with these characteristics.

nikon_af75-300Nikon AF 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6

Pros: Yield, versatility, construction

Cons: SLOW AF

Opinion: Used and used for years, it gave me great satisfaction. Done well, solid. The only flaw is the A.Af. that is a bit slow and cumbersome, not comparable to the current lenses. If you don't need a lightning-fast AF, this zoom canvas can unwrap excellent shots, both landscape and portrait. The built-in tripod stand is a boon, you put it on the stand and away! Perfect "zoom pump" mechanics.

nikon_70-300vrNikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED VR

Pros: Price of used

Cons: Dark and not versatile

Opinion: Lens that I didn't like and that I bought and resold right away. I found it dark and rather limited. I replaced it with a 28-300 with which I had a lot of fun, very versatile and with the same performance. I write "same" because I have not had the opportunity to compare them accurately, it could also be that the 28-300 is more performing. Definitely i'd go on 28-300 if I couldn't take an f/2.8 and stay on f/4.5-5.6. Ditto by weight and clutter: this does not make sense when the 28-300 has almost the same weight/clutter and a higher versatility. Definitely from its has the limited cost with which you buy it on the secondhand market.

nikon_105_f2-8microNikon 105mm f/2.8 AF Micro

Pros: Sharp, versatile and lightweight.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: A gorgeous lens at a price (now on used) really contained. The technical project is first-class. The structure is solid and compact. Light and versatile because its size and yield make it usable even in non-macro situations. In its native environment (the macro) it excels for sharpness and clarity. I have always really had a lot of fun with this lens and I will want to take it back because it has from its characteristics that, for me, I do not find even in newer and more emponate lenses (size-weight-versatility in the first place).

nikon_af28-105dNikon AF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 D

Pros: A little gem!

Cons: If he had the 24th... But really for what it gives you, no flaw.

Opinion: Compact, sharp, 9 diaphragm blades, resistant to flare, light, versatile, macro 1:2... There really isn't much more to say, a little gem. If you really want to find him a "defect" (in quotes) it stops at 28 and does not drop to 24. Being a lover of grandangles, those 4 mm less for me would have made a substantial difference. For the rest we are faced with a project really well done at a paltry cost. On digital goes great. The macro function is really... Macro! It works great and provides excellent results (obviously taking on the 1:2 ratio - for the 1:1 there are more specialized lenses).

nikon_105vr_microNikon AF-S 105mm f/2.8 G ED VR Micro

Pros: Sharpness, VR and performance.

Cons: Heavy and heavy. Clumsy.

Opinion: From the macro point of point, it excels and there is little to say. Having the VR (in the easel macro the VR is on Off as far as I'm concerned), you would expect to use it in other situations as well (although being less specialized for them). On this you have a big, heavy and clumsy lens. Compared, for example, to the micro 105 AFD in this sense there is no comparison (the current will also be a better performing hair - had both - , but in terms of weight and size we are really on two different planets). So I'd think hard about what I'd like to use it and what logistics I'd be moving with.

nikon_28-300vrNikon AF-S 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR

Pros: Unexpected quality and undeniable versatility.

Cons: In its design and usage context, none.

Opinion: For me, this lens is really good. You have to understand that you have on your hands a pushed zoom that covers from the wide angle to the canvas and whose quality (considering what it does) is excellent. In addition, compared to other zooms, it is compact and lighter. If you necessarily need 2.8 and higher performance, there's obviously more. VR helps a lot. I wouldn't relegate it to the too simplistic category of "all-rounder - go away light" because on digital the yield is very satisfying.

nikon_afp18-55Nikon AF-P 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 G DX

Pros: Lightness.

Cons: Definition and results it provides.

Opinion: A lens that didn't excite me. I had it when I took the D40, before moving on to the full frame and starting to operate again with lenses with a capital L. I'd say it's a consumer product in a definitive way. It's good for those who want to spend really little and start trying to photograph with a reflex. When you start to engage in a more "demanding" operation, this lens immediately gives way.

nikon_16-35vrNikon AF-S 16-35mm f/4 G ED VR

Pros: Focus, sharpness, versatility.

Cons: Just the weight.

Opinion: This is an exceptional lens for me. Gifts colors and super sharpness and above all it is a wide-angle pushed, just as I like it. Among my best shots, many were made with this lens. The only downside is the weight and size that are remarkable (unfortunately), otherwise it is a lens that I love and that I recommend. I didn't find any defects in hallucirate lenses or anything like that. For me a 9.5 as a grade (the half point is only for weight/clutter, but I also understand that the project - to include VR - probably could not allow smaller dimensions).
