Pros: Made in Japan lens, metal body and quality glass, 62mm filter diameter, almost zero distortion at all apertures, excellent incisiveness, does not suffer from flare, 9-blade diaphragm, dimensions that compared to the older brothers at 2.8 almost make you smile... it has a tripod attachment ring, what else can you ask for from a 30-year-old lens?

Cons: the AF is a bit slow, I don't know anything else.... My sample does not have a lens hood, but so far I have not missed it

Opinion: I discovered it thanks to the review on Ken Rockwell's website, it immediately intrigued me a lot. Over the years I have also tried the various 70/210 versions, but the quality of the photos left something to be desired in sharpness. I then discovered that a friend of mine present here on the site had been using it for many years, he made me try it and... Purchased immediately! It is found in the second-hand market for a tobacco pipe; I had two, the first perhaps had a problem with the misalignment of the lenses, returned and replaced some time later with the one I currently own; I bought this example at the RCE shop in Padua from my friend Marco, practically perfect in the state of wear, for about 60€, I "created" therefore 2 kits, the D4s with f2.8 lenses and the D700 with variable aperture lenses, traveling in combination with a 28/105 3.5/4.5D (another lady lens), thus giving me a lighter (but quality) solution than the "pro kit", but always satisfactory for the quality of the images. It's a lens for those who love old-fashioned Nikon lenses, I think it won't disappoint you, especially thinking about the cost of the older brothers, faster in AF yes, but definitely more "plastic" and above all expensive.....

Pros: Yield, versatility, construction

Cons: SLOW AF

Opinion: Used and used for years, it gave me great satisfaction. Done well, solid. The only flaw is the A.Af. that is a bit slow and cumbersome, not comparable to the current lenses. If you don't need a lightning-fast AF, this zoom canvas can unwrap excellent shots, both landscape and portrait. The built-in tripod stand is a boon, you put it on the stand and away! Perfect "zoom pump" mechanics.

Pros: Surprising color rendering, a few artifacts, beautiful building.

Cons: slow and problematic autofocus, Unclear focal maximum and maximum aperture

Opinion: Bought by a bit 'but little used, I recently rediscovered for nature photos and I really like. Normally a lens like this are wondering performance long focal length, but also I am fine in the range of 75mm to 135. Excellent backlit with very few traces of the primary light source, good bokeh, beautiful color rendering for nature photos. The autofocus is a drama, in spite of this I was able to produce great photos even swifts in flight.

Pros: Robust construction of another era, object aesthetically pleasing, easy to use

Cons: AF a bit 'slow

Opinion: Amateur optics vintage this lens could not miss in my park lenses. What about .... It has everything you'd expect from a Nikon vintage piece. The tripod mount is very comfortable and scales very well together with the camera body. Pump system very fluid and easy to use. AF slow by today's standards but I have no hurry as photographer usually static subjects. Great for photo minimalist colors and made really good with delicate tonal passages and not hyper thwarted. I am very satisfied and would recommend this beautiful piece of history to anyone who wants to experience the thrill of a REAL Nikon.
