Pros: Very useful all-rounder with impressive image quality

Cons: No significant flaws, as long as you do not start pixel-peeping on a D850. High distortion at mid-range (around 110 mm), easily corrected though.

Opinion: I used this lens on a D700 (12 MPix) for travel purposes. Paired with a fast lens (50/1.4 in my case), it makes a wonderful, compact setup. Picture quality is consistently high (at 28mm, better stop down a little). VR works well, so shooting sculpture details in dark churches at 300mm was not an issue. At first sight, the only obvious flaw is the pincushion distortion around 110mm. Distortion is barrel-shaped at 28, zero at 35, then turns to pincushion with a maximum around 110. The distortion is however regular and easily corrected.

Pros: Range, sharpness

Cons: None - I understood what it was and accepted the trade offs!

Opinion: Great travel lens. When I want to travel really light, I can take a FF with this lens and one other (wider), and that's it. It produces good results for most things and for most shooting situations. Obviously, it is not a prime, nor a pro-grade zoom. However, it is really a nice tool to have available for certain situations. Mine is sharp and the VR works very well. I never hesitate to use this lens, and it is actually pretty rugged.

Pros: Versatile and very comfortable, incomparable for traveling light and with a single lens. Optical quality not to be denigrated

Cons: Honestly I can't find any, it does its job as it was designed

Opinion: I was reading opinions about the Nikon Z 28-400 and wondered if this, although definitely older, was still valid. I would say yes. It will not have the optical quality of the new 28-400 (which I don't know and therefore I take it for granted that it is superior) but certainly should not be snubbed. Brightness practically the same, considering that the Z-mount bayonet is wider and the slight difference in focal range. Comparable weight and size. Definitely x a Nikon Z sunset, there is no alternative to the 28-400, but for those like me, who use both Reflex and ML, with this you can go easy on both systems saving a lot of money. Their prices were also comparable. I use it with satisfaction on the D5, which has few pixels and allows you to easily go up with the ISO, to compensate for the low brightness of the Superzooms. But it's also good on the Z6II for the same reasons as the D5. Obviously I can always accompany it with my other lenses, from fixed lights to less extreme and optically superior zooms

Pros: Versatile, stabilized, sharp

Cons: it has none

Opinion: Excellent for travel documentation, very valid for all focal lengths on D3; probably increasing the resolution will bring out the limits. As for the brightness, the most modern sensors allow you to increase the iso, but they have more resolution, so the 13 mpx allow you to maintain sharpness and with the device mentioned above you can increase the iso also pushing to values that produce a beautiful fine grain that I like. You can have fun with portraiture without being too intrusive. It is stabilized, all in all not bulky, has the practical block at the minimum focal length when walking and the generous hood limits accidental damage.

Pros: Wide focal rangeGood used price

Cons: Poor photo quality

Opinion: I tried it because it was potentially interesting as the only lens for travel. It did not convince me, mainly because of the poor quality of the photos it churns out. It is true that with that dark focal ion you can not expect excellence, but I think it does not make much sense to invest in a pro camera body and use a poor lens. Another limit, subjective, is the minimum focal length at 28.Conclusion: I returned it and I hold on to the Nikon 24-120f4.
