samyang_af85_f1-4feSamyang AF 85mm f/1.4 FE/RF

Pros: Crisp, compact (compared to the competition), fast, cheap, beautiful to see

Cons: A slight yellow dominant

Opinion: After more than 10,000 shots and 20 Shooting made with this lens coupled with my Sony A7III I made a complete review on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDUugHu3snY It has practically only merits if we consider the price, today it is located little and worth much more than many... It doesn't get to the quality levels of SIGMA or even the Sony Gmaster 1.4 but if you want something more than the usual 1.8 this is for you.

sony_fe50_f1-8Sony FE 50mm f/1.8

Pros: Lightweight, versatile, small, very low price for Full Frame

Cons: he just lacks a smaller focus distance

Opinion: I will be sincere and hairless on my tongue. A crisp 50mm FullFrame 1.8 even at sony's original 200 euro TA you can't help but buy. I always try to try the optics for what I really am and not to hear, as I do on my channel https://www.youtube.com/c/LucaMelilloLights The Sony 50ino I always use it when I have to go out light and without a backpack, always take home the photo, it is reliable and precise. The only thing he lacks is the focus distance, unfortunately at 45cm it's too much... Patience

7artisans_7-5_f2-87artisans 7.5mm f/2.8 Fisheye

Pros: The price

Cons: the quality

Opinion: I understand the enthusiasm to find at such a low price an easy and robust fun lens and these are definitely many merits. But you don't expect quality images as its resolve barely reaches 10mega pixels. It's a little bit older and cheaper, like the Sony A6000 I tried it on. I also did a review of it on youtube: https://youtu.be/HP_doF_Wvnc

samyang_fe35_f1-4afSamyang FE 35mm f/1.4 AF

Pros: It costs 200 euros less than sigma Art and its quality is only 5% lower

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Here's how I tested this lens: I bought it together with the A7iii body in 2018 and kept it on the car 1 whole year! Result? A show. Already at 1.4 it is very sharp and defined, it has a pleasant vignette that you can delete in posts, for videos is phenomenal. Compared to the Sigma 35 1.4 it loses a very small part of definition at the edges and a resolution of 4/5 megapixels but you only notice it if you have an A7r3 or r4. I did a full review with examples here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hK1jRa3btlM

nikon_z6Nikon Z6

Pros: Machine good for everything, manageable and in step with technology 2018

Cons: It has nothing more than the competition, indeed, less.

Opinion: The Z6 is in all respects a good machine, if you buy it you get EVERYTHING: quality, handling, precision, speed. Too bad that the other mirrorless of the same price offer, like the sony, something extra, despite having come out earlier! I say this from Nikonista so do not hate me, try, as I did, 3 mirrorless of equal range price and then decide. In any case the machine is performing and its files are fantastic. To date, 2020, I would buy it with my eyes closed but at 1200euro new. I also talked about this in my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbIdp3DUDqB-C1Aqn9KMAXQ/

nikon_d7100Nikon D7100

Pros: All

Cons: To this day it is still a desirable reflex but mirrorless makes it obsolete.

Opinion: I had 7 DSLR Nikon, this one I loved from the first shot. In second place was the D90. Although the comparison with mirrorless is difficult to hold, I find it still very desirable for those who want a reflex. I talked about how you can also take advantage of full frame lenses on dx machines in my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbIdp3DUDqB-C1Aqn9KMAXQ/ Except the screen that is not orientable but you see and read beautifully has all the keys all the dials, functions, potential, resistance and everything that comes to mind that serves to make beautiful photos. The battery lasts a lot, the top screen is perfect, weighs the right and has a very good grip. The built-in flash works well, the menus and processor are fast, the AF engine commands all possible targets, the double memory slot is very comfortable even to do 2 shoots in a single day, the files are gorgeous, maybe only the colors not too hot. The autofocus is a missile and is very precise. For me I vote 10

nikon_d5200Nikon D5200

Pros: File quality

Cons: Limitations of a consumer product

Opinion: Between 2016 and 2017 I made some beautiful images, some inserted in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ax0f1OP6Xq4 Definitely among the entry levels is one of the best successful, especially at the sensor level. I talked about how you can also take advantage of full frame lenses on dx machines in my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbIdp3DUDqB-C1Aqn9KMAXQ/ Many Mpixels and if paired with a performance lens like the fixed ones from the big opening goes that is a pleasure. The mobile display offers a lot of convenience. From this model onward this series has only been repeated except the D5500 which is really better. It doesn't have the AF engine and the second diaphragms ring... it's always an entry level. As reactions and menu is quick. Vote 9 in its category.

nikon_d600Nikon D600

Pros: High-level old-school Reflex

Cons: It doesn't live up to expectations

Opinion: It's my opinion written only AFTER using this machine a couple of years. I've had 7 Nikon DSLRs so far. I came from entry level and APS-C, I studied all the secrets of PRO and SemiPro reflexes before making the step to FullFrame. This model has always been at the top of DxO's rankings for sensor quality, and it's true, the photos are beautiful. But don't be fooled, the dynamic range is not so great and the autofocus system limits a lot of the creative composition skills in the center. Shadow recovery is worse than it should be. I love Nikons and these models are technical and mechanical jewelry but this does not always help to take beautiful photos. You can't orient the screen, you can't focus on something outside the center pane of the AF points. In addition, my specimen has been repaired twice by Nikon but the problem of oil stains of the shutter continued to be there and you only notice if you do landscape. Otherwise it is an indestructible monster and that carries you around even 10 times without recharging the battery, with beautiful and functional keys and ghieres... But in the photographic world that's not all. Often a mirrorless 2014 helps you much more than a 2013 reflex pro. I invite you to meditate. A valid lens to enhance such a sensor can cost you twice as much as the machine. Better?

nikon_d3200Nikon D3200

Pros: Discreet sensor, price of used today in 2020

Cons: It's Nikon's cheapest series, and it shows.

Opinion: It is a small machine, easily transportable, reliable, with all the merits of a reflex and the conveniences of the pre-set aids. I talked about how you can also exploit full frame lenses on dx machines in my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbIdp3DUDqB-C1Aqn9KMAXQ/ It can not have claims because it is the entry level however, given the goodness of the sensor, it can produce beautiful images if you match a valid optics. Today you can buy it for very little and it can be great for those who approach the world of photography although honestly I would very recommend a series like D80, D90, D7000 that are like quality and usability another planet. Vote 7

nikon_70-300vrNikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED VR

Pros: It is the only one among the telezooms for DX that can produce a pleasant deadlift

Cons: It's not professional, it's for amateurs.

Opinion: It's a DX lens for APS-C so it can't be professional and doesn't have the characteristics. Let's say that when used with criterion you can have a nice detachment effect between subject and background. Forget the AF's performance because it's cheap. As soon as the sun sets, forget about taking decent photos, the autofocus no longer works well and the optical defects are amplified.

nikon_50_f1-8dNikon AF 50mm f/1.8 D

Pros: All

Cons: Nothing if bought at the right price

Opinion: Better than him he can only do the big brother 50mm 1.8 G AF-S of which I did a review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IbAzj9u5P0 This is small, cheap, portable to the maximum, sharp. Many people talk about the external material but I think it's perfect so and you've never seen one broken! So the important thing is how the photos do it! Rating 10, better if bought used.

nikon_af28-105dNikon AF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 D

Pros: Weight and small size, beautiful images.

Cons: None if bought at a good price.

Opinion: It's definitely one of the BEST ZOOM i ZOOM i've ever done Nikon. I tested it at home and out against other 35, 50, 85mm fixed lenses and zooms. It has the build quality of the 90s, the macro function, it is small and light. The surprising thing that leaves you stunned is that at the same diaphragm it is brighter than the other zooms! Great resolution, sharpness at the edges, colors. Along with the model 24-85mm IF 2.8-4 I find is the only really noteworthy zoom. Perfect also on APS-C

nikon_af28-200dNikon AF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 D

Pros: You take it everywhere without ever breaking it

Cons: Doesn't shine in anything

Opinion: Surely it has the build and assembly qualities of Nikkor 90s and is very useful as an economic handyman as long as you pay it no more than 100euro. But it's certainly not a champion, it distorts a little, cartoon, has aberrations etc... It's much better though than the competition of the time, like the sigma!! With the same money if you find a 28-105 Nikkor Micro take it, it's a whole other planet!

nikon_af35-70_f4-5Nikon AF 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5

Pros: Can be small and comfortable

Cons: Doesn't take nice pictures

Opinion: I was very disappointed by this view: it does not have the quality they say, compared to the brothers of the same years is poor. It should not cost more than 30 euros because it is not worth more. If you are looking for the quality of those years the real jump is the 28-105 af macro. For an absolute performance I recommend the fixed 50mm of the 80s or early 90s, with that you will have three times the resolution and a nice bokeh.

nikon_24-85gNikon AF-S 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 G IF

Pros: Small and full frame

Cons: Everything else

Opinion: There is a lot of talk about Nikon's 35mm/full frame medium zooms, there are vague videos, articles, sites, reviews etc. to understand the differences between the 3 existing versions: the old 2.8-4 IF I wrote about, the photo version above (given in kit for many models) and the latest version with VR that you recognize because it has 72mm filters and not 67mm. I read everything about these 3 lenses and used them together and tested them for a long time both on fullframe and aps-c (dx). Leaving aside the technical speeches you find around, I will come only to the hard, the only real usable lens is the 2.8-4 IF, the other 2 I found simply useless. Of course if you don't even have a lens it will help you to make generic photos but other than that you do little. The photo version above was the one I sold before, it has no quality in particular apart from the size and weight contained. Personal opinion: if taken under 150euro and used on DX (aps-c) you will be amazed by the photos you will take home!

nikon_24-85dNikon AF 24-85mm f/2.8-4 D IF

Pros: Optical Quality, Macro

Cons: It weighs a lot

Opinion: As I said for the 3.5-4.5 model review: you do a lot of talking about Nikon's 35mm/full frame average zooms, there are vague videos, articles, sites etc. to understand the differences between the versions above, that date in fullframe kit some have ago with filters from 67 and the latest version, the one with VR. I read everything about these 3 lenses and used them together and tested them for a long time both on fullframe and aps-c (dx). Leaving aside the technical speeches, I will come only to the hard, the only real usable lens is the 2.8-4 IF, the other 2 I found simply useless. Of course if you don't even have a lens it will help you to make generic photos but other than that you do little. The real difference is the version 2.8-4 IF Macro, the autofocus is not very fast but the colors are beautiful, the portraits have the right gap between subject and background, the glass of which it is composed feels that they are "old school". It has the usual problem of being more oxen and cartoonfrom 70mm onwards but at 85 you make us a really nice portrait. Before changing system was the last Nikon zoom I held. Bought today at 180 degrees will disfigure any other zoom. If you are looking for absolute performance you have to buy a fixed optics.

nikon_18-200vrNikon AF-S DX 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR

Pros: Exit only with this lens

Cons: It's good for everything but it's not great at all.

Opinion: There's not much to say except that this lens does only one thing: mount it on the machine body and you are prepared for all the focal points. This is its convenience and its biggest limit together. My advice is: if I want to go out and shoot around without changing optics I carry it quietly already mounted. If you have specific uses in mind then take professional results out of your head.

nikon_18-70dxNikon AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 G ED

Pros: Best of 18-55 AF-S

Cons: Worst of 18-105 AF-S

Opinion: I wrote this in the pros and cons because that's exactly where this lens is. It's done well, sturdy, big and heavy enough, it mounts 67mm filters, that is, you do a bit of everything. It's better than the 18-55 kit in all respects but the 18-105 VR AF-S surpasses it. It is often found used to a ridiculous figure and this makes it very desirable. If you have an old DX (all before 2015) it's definitely always fine. It doesn't excel at anything but as a standard it does a great job. Today's price rating: 8

nikon_18-35Nikon AF 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 D IF ED

Pros: FullFrame wide angle valid for low price and low weight

Cons: It sins in some things but if you find it at a good used price it becomes a good choice.

Opinion: To date in 2020 with little money you quietly buy a fixed "competition" much more defined and with less chromatic aberrations, even brighter. However, if you want a full frame zoom and find it at a good price it's always a great choice. It is very light, not large, it has 77mm filters. With 24 and 35mm it is also very useful in architecture and it does well even as 35 "standard". Unfortunately it is not perfect (sharpness at the edges and a bit of aberration) but defends itself well given its years. Recommended only under 24mpix (best 12) in the landscape. If you want the performance take a fixed wide angle.

nikon_85_f1-8gNikon AF-S 85mm f/1.8 G

Pros: All

Cons: I can't find any

Opinion: It's an optics monster with any machine body. I tried it with lots of bodies, even the Nikon 1!!! and he always takes great photos! Considering the price, I find both Nikon's lens with the absolute best quality (without looking at 85 and 105 version 1.4 that cost 4/5 times as much). The only negative note is that you can't photograph anything closer than 90 cm and this makes it mandatory to keep the subject always away, whether human or landscape. Let's face it: buying it used with 300 euros you will have a PROFESSIONAL tool to try to express your creativity. I also did a review on youtube for this lens and I didn't change my mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBGLtmmN-iQ

nikon_50_f1-8gNikon AF-S 50mm f/1.8 G

Pros: It costs little, it weighs little, it is reliable, precise, resolute.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Consider that it is one of Nikon's most resellable lenses. If you try it you can always sell it very easily. Optically it is very valid, the focus in the AF-S version is very reliable and fast. It's worth all the money it costs and if you mount it on a DX it becomes almost an 85 (75mm) with a very good blur. It can be used already at 1.8 (better from 2 onwards). The ideal is to mount it and not take it off anymore.

nikon_50_f1-4gNikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4 G

Pros: Small, light, beautiful, pleasant bokeh

Cons: Fears comparison with 50mm 1.8, sometimes has front or back focus issues

Opinion: I confirm what others have said and I add what I found: -depending on the specimens suffers from back focus or front focus, and it is a serious defect because you will be forced to shoot at least F4. -With low brightness the car focus loses so much in performance. -is slightly brighter than 1.8 for the same diaphragm. -has pretty much the same resolution as brother 1.8. Honestly with hindsight I would choose 1.8G for the price, the focus and the rest. If you really want the difference go to Sigma or the old Nikon manual F1.4 of the 70s. It produces beautiful images if you want to shoot in manual.

nikon_35dxNikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8 G

Pros: Quality of a good cheap fixed

Cons: The Italian version costs twice as much. The quality of the 50 Nikon is superior.

Opinion: It must be said that those who want to shoot with a fixed and have a DX often have to turn to the competition for these focal... All in all this lens does a really good job for how much it costs from new if bought abroad or Used Italian, it is always found! As a fixed first it is absolutely to try for those who come from the zooms.

nikon_18-105dx_vrNikon AF-S DX 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR

Pros: Lightweight, VR, exploitable, well built, very affordable used price.

Cons: It distorts to 18mm.

Opinion: Everyone writes that it is not bright. It's a zoom, if you want speed and brightness buy a fixed optics. As much as it costs I extravagate it on all Nikon DX machines from the first to those of 2017 as an all-rounder to use in a bit of all situations. It's beautiful mounted on the machine, has VR, pulls out discreet portraits, helps in architectural composition. At 18mm unfortunately distorts a lot, just shoot from 24mm to solve. He weighs little and is on average resolute. If you use it on better-performing machines like the D500 or the D7200 and D7500 it loses sense... In general I recommend it! I bought it back for a used old Nikon, too.

nikon_10-24dxNikon AF-S DX 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 G ED

Pros: Better than equivalent competitors

Cons: It costs too much for what it's worth

Opinion: Of this lens I did a review on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ax0f1OP6Xq4 Surely as quality exceeds competitors Tokina or Tamron to make an example, but it costs much more and has problems of chromatic aberration and of course distortion due to the very pushed focus. Its resolve is low and spectacular shots are made. A lens that as quality is definitely superior is the 12-24. If you find it used at a good price then it's worth it!

nikon1_v1Nikon 1 V1

Pros: The Pros that has to look for them in the midst of all the flaws that Nikon has managed to put, in any case Sensor, Battery, Portability.

Cons: Price from new, shameful optical park, shameful owner attack,

Opinion: This model represents exactly the Nikon policy: a great idea castrated by bad choices. Nikon deserves (like the canon) to have failed miserably in the mirrorless market, falling behind by years. Why? This V1 could have been a revolution and yet they adopted a STELLAR price at launch so no one bought it. But they also put a new bayonet with optics that don't get to 4mpix resolution.... You are basically COSTRETTI to buy the adapter and use NIKON F lenses. As a vote I gave 7 because as an object it would deserve 10 but as a policy adopted by Nikon would be 4. My practical experience in the field: if you mount the adapter and fixed manual or new optics (50, 35, even fullframe) you will have photos STUPENDE! It's amazing what a sensor so small and with a few MegaPixels can produce. Even the autofocus splits the thousandth, the battery lasts a lot, the weight is contained and the viewfinder is very well seen. The gust is higher than many SLRs! Too bad it went like this. I had to sell it too because it was unhelpful.

nikon_d5100Nikon D5100

Pros: Orientable screen, small, many Mpix, resolution and speed pretty good in general.

Cons: It has nothing pro, but if bought today at a paltry price it can be worth much more than its cost.

Opinion: Reviewing an 8/9-year-old product today allows you to see things in a certain way. Let's face it nikon with the 3xxx series and 5xxx has sold millions of machines... But it was a different era, often those who bought these mall reflexes (consumer) came from a compact.... the leap in quality was evident. But on a second-to-back, these models offered little for how much they cost. However, it has many merits, the display is clear and orientable, very useful. It is very handy, light and small the right. With the AF-S VR DX optics like the 55-300 and the 70-300 or the 18-105 does its duty of average quality (those optics are not resolute). If you want to see all the splendor of the sensor mounted something like a 50mm manual focus (Af-d or AI series) and then the discourse will change a lot...

nikon_d90Nikon D90

Pros: Size weight and maximum exploitability, especially as a second body machine.

Cons: For what it does and how much you pay today in the used: NO

Opinion: It is one of the few Nikons that really impressed me, the colors are very beautiful and never misses a shot. Always take the picture home. Small machine but that knows how to get its hands dirty in all situations. Always manageable, clear, the battery lasts a lifetime, is not heavy nor bulky. It is not a PRO and its quality is limited, but its 12mega pixels are exploitable ALL, unlike other models even with 24Mpix but that are worth little. After having it for 2 years I'm buying it back now.

nikon_d70Nikon D70

Pros: To date for what it costs is worth 5 times its price

Cons: Its use can only remain useful in certain areas

Opinion: To date buy this body even just to practice, have a reserve body or out of curiosity (as many enthusiasts do) is a great investment. Its main merits are that it never stops, it has ALL what it serves as functions, knobs etc. even at the most ISO the yield is respectable and the grain of noise is pleasant. What is unbearable is the very small display. For the rest, with the right optics, it returns very valid photos, as seen from the examples of the members below.

nikon_d3100Nikon D3100

Pros: If you need a cheap Nikon in 2020 it takes you well today. Display not resolute but great.

Cons: Low image quality, low ISO hold. It can't be a first body. Has the Live View

Opinion: Opinion must be considered in context. The D3100 is small, light but doesn't have an engine for AF lenses without an engine. If you find it today, like me, for less than 100 euros, it can be an excellent mule as a second or third body. I talked about how you can also take advantage of full frame lenses on dx machines in my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbIdp3DUDqB-C1Aqn9KMAXQ/ I took it just to be able to use Nikon optics for FullFrame as well. The quality of the sensor and image is not great but its 14Mpix are very manageable as dimensions even in RAW. It is small and handy, comfortable to carry around without worrying about scratching or damaging it. It's not a PRO and not even a SemiPRO.... but today it is at ridiculous prices and has a 3" display, the LiveView, the battery lasts a lot, buying a reliable SLR at a ridiculous price can be convenient!
