Pros: Useful focal length range; contrasty at all settings; good sharpness at almost all settings; cheap to buy used; 62mm filters

Cons: Closest focus a joke and unusable; bad barrel distortion at 28mm, pincushion at 200mm; totally inadequate lenshood, barrel rotates during focusing.

Opinion: Good travel lens but won't focus close enough for head and shoulders portraits! Not suitable for architecture due to pronounced distortion, especially barrel at 28mm. But excellent colour rendering, sharp and contrasty, with a real punch. But flare resistance can be poor, circular lenshood poor at both ends of focal range. A much better lens performance wise than the Sigma and Tamron equivalents but for everyday use, limiting and so I traded it in whilst it still had some value. Best avoided, overall. My score 6/10

Pros: Lightweight, small, economical, compact, very practical, excellent optical quality

Cons: Non-tropicalized, old-fashioned screw AF, totally approximate autofocus accuracy on D800

Opinion: I had it and used it on Nikon D800. I was surprised by the very good optical quality for such an old superzoom. The price from used is good varies from 150 to 250 euros and there are also specimens still in good condition. The big problem I had is that on the D800 the autofocus was totally approximate in accuracy. The speed was acceptable but the accuracy unacceptable. I did some tests and on a tripod focusing 10 times in AF he got it right not even half the time. For the rest I liked it very much, indeed the optical quality had surprised me. blurry more than good

Pros: Great for holidays and good focal range

Cons: Lack of stabilizer

Opinion: I just bought it a few days ago 20/06/23 naturally used at 120 €, there are those who say too much but I wanted it, it is a lens that I had when it came out in 98 and at that time I liked its structure and its reliability, on the other hand it is a Nikon, I wanted to replace the Tamron 28/300 because as a lens I absolutely do not like, chromatic aberrations, little incisiveness, it is not the lens for me, while the Nikon 28/200 after 25 years still does its job well, has a good depth of field and the aperture 8 is the right compromise for a good depth of field. Its weight is not 300 grams but 570gr. with the HB-12 hood As for the focusing speed depends on the SLR because it is she who manages it.

Pros: You take it everywhere without ever breaking it

Cons: Doesn't shine in anything

Opinion: Surely it has the build and assembly qualities of Nikkor 90s and is very useful as an economic handyman as long as you pay it no more than 100euro. But it's certainly not a champion, it distorts a little, cartoon, has aberrations etc... It's much better though than the competition of the time, like the sigma!! With the same money if you find a 28-105 Nikkor Micro take it, it's a whole other planet!

Pros: Wide range of focals. Cost-effective as used. Excellent travel target. Intermediate focal length and excellent contrast.

Cons: A bit heavy and the cap that is likely to get lost.

Opinion: Tested alternatively for both 28/70 D and 70/210 D and the results are excellent (at least avoid disassembling). Obviously, I prefer Fixed Optics (50mm 1.8D) (Samyang 85mm 1.4) but as rendered as contrast and sharpness it is excellent. In my Nikon D750 it is ok. Comprised as used at 220euro. The filters are 72 and not 62 as the card shows. RnMacro nice.
