![]() | Canon 5D Pros: Eternal, heavy, wonderfully built, has a fantastic sound at the shot, fabulous grain to maximum iso, very effective jpg settings in the room, fits in hand with a brush, made especially for portraits, light files, CF slots. Cons: Too bad it has the EOS bayonet and not FD ;) Opinion: Welcome to paradise ... Or in hell: with this camera you will see if you are really a photographer. Zero help, zero advanced automatisms, zero recoveries in post, zero prodigious raw, zero supersonic burst. Expose yourself well and trust his direct in-camera jpg: you will be rewarded by wonderful portraits, fairytale landscapes and delicate photos such as oriental fairy tales. No computer after shooting, no posts, no photo editing: everything you need is there in your hands. Attach bright lenses such as the 85 mm 1.8, or use it manually with the old M42 via adapter and have fun like children. I've had 2 of them, and together with the Nikon D200 they are the most beautiful digital ever created by the human being. Do not be afraid to fiddle with the jpg settings, exaggerate and experiment: it will show you wonders forbidden to modern mirrorless from the false and plastic superpixellated rendering. Dare backlight, high contrasts and underexposure: explore unknown photographic terrain with this incredible travel companion: it will NEVER disappoint you and will surprise you with results beyond all expectations. You buy it for little money, but it is worth as much gold as it weighs. Warnings: always remember a spare battery and be careful if it falls in any church, you could seriously damage the floor mosaics ;) sent on October 01, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6 Pros: Lightweight, FullFrame, fits in your pocket. Cons: All plastic, creaks, horrendous aesthetics. Opinion: It is however 100 steps above the legendary Ciofegon as rendering in colors, contrast and internal mechanics. You can use it with satisfaction at the sea: if you fall into the sand you can give it to children as a bucket for fish ... It's a real FullFrame and you can bully other photographers by flaunting a lens that hardly anyone has ever seen in his life. sent on September 27, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Pros: Lightweight, no play between parts, smooth zoom ring, surprisingly fast AF for ultra-economical lens class. It's a true fullframe. Cons: Plastic bayonet \\ all plastic, to have decent sharpness better close at f11. Opinion: They gave it to me: at first I was rather skeptical, then I changed my mind. For generic holiday photos it is fine and allows you to chase children on the beach discreetly thanks to the fast and responsive af (obviously considering that they could give it to you inside the bag of chips). I use it on Canon 5D Classic and 20D. If you find it under 40€ it could be a good deal for holidays without too many performance anxieties. sent on September 27, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Pros: You will have the first ever stabilized lens of mom Canon and with a nice golden plate on the barrel that is very cool. It grips quite well, soft colors like contrast and made a little vintage. Light. Cons: Sharpness so so also diaphragm, is of the highest generation that sucks a lot of battery, very slow focus, plastic. On aps-c forget about any photos of the moon with an enjoyable detail. Opinion: I use it on Canon 5D Old and 20D. Nice to look at and comfortable enough to hold, I only have it because they gave it to me. It's fine if you do occasional scenery, perhaps at sunrise and sunset, but don't expect to appreciate the details in the feathers of the bird perched on the tree. Forget about any form of tracking autofocus. If you can, go to a newer zoom. It is only worth it if you find it at a bargain price. sent on September 14, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 II Pros: Very light, useful excursion, FullFrame, velvety engine with belt drive, pleasant black and white performance. Cons: Af slow, superplastic, dark Opinion: I would like to say a few words about this poor, mistreated objective. It is true that constructively it is rubbish, but in my opinion as a yield it is certainly better than the pathetic optical kits that put in the first digital type 350D. It is a true fullframe, and on the 5D Classic it makes its figure especially in black and white, where it returns well-contrasted images. The af is slow and inside you will find a prehistoric electric motor that transmits the motion to the maf gears through a small rubber belt, like old walkman to be clear: you will have the exclusive feeling of relying on a technology for a few connoisseurs. I believe that the back lens is made of plastic so clean it carefully. A very cheap lens honestly humble, which has earned my respect, and that will give you photos with a vintage character. I recommend it to anyone who wants a Canon FullFrame lens spending as little as possible to combine with the 5D Classic. Note: if you remove the group of front lenses, ie all those that rotate for focusing, it will turn into a macro zoom from 0.85: 1 to 35mm to an amazing 1.85: 1 to 80mm! But you will lose any AF capability: you will have to move back and forth to find the correct maf. Have fun ;) sent on April 18, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 SF Pros: Extremely specialized for portrait, made soft even without the special ring, pastel colors. Cons: Slow but precise, all plastic, very dated internal electronics Opinion: Quite sharp at 2.8, it improves a lot at 5.6: moving the ring of the Soft Focus to TA will turn your every photo into a soft-porn masterpiece of the early 80s .... Only the filter with the star effect screwed in front of :) is missing. The AF motor makes the characteristic ZZZZZ of Canon lenses of the 80s, it is very slow but hooks safe and precise. It's a VERY fun lens to use and VERY, VERY specialized for portraits! Use it with the 5D Classic and you will be absolutely satisfied: to be used also taking advantage of the backlight, with soft and soft lighting and for shots from American plane or face to full screen. I prefer him to the noble brothers with the red line for his very decisive character and personality. To have only if you know what you want to achieve. sent on March 27, 2023 |
![]() | Sigma AF 300mm f/4 APO HSM Pros: I speak for the old version Apo NOT hsm: F4 constant, telescopic hood, robust construction, effective macro, FF optics, has the toughest tripod ring I've ever seen! Cons: Damn sticky coating !!! Af decidedly slow, front\\back focus for the Nikon version with SLR motor. Opinion: I had to put +20 in correction to have an exact focus, but otherwise I am very satisfied. 1) The autofocus is extremely slow from one end of the useful stroke to the other, but once the subject is hooked the reactivity improves a lot 2) the rubbery coating, once stabilized with ipa first and silicone oil then, guarantees an excellent grip 3) the hood is telescopic and beautiful deep 4) blurred pleasant 5) good yield already at TA 6) the tripod ring is a great fit: Made like a tank, it rotates 360 degrees and can be easily opened and removed 7) solid internal mechanics: the AF wheels are all made of metal 8) has the diaphragm ring 9) inexpensive in the second-hand market 10) does not produce flares sent on March 14, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 Pros: Robust plastics, pump, FF, fast autofocus, calm colors and contrast Cons: Quite soft at TA.... Opinion: It belongs to the first Canon EF series; it has a very noisy washing machine type motor that pairs beautifully with the 5D Classic: use them in pairs and between the ZZZZZZZZZZZZ of the lens and the MEGACATACLACK of the SLR they will insult you for shouting even at the stadium. Pleasant to hold, it is a piece of Canon history, to have absolutely for every lover of vintage electronics and for those who love to disturb the mystical silences of cathedrals. sent on February 25, 2023 |
![]() | Vivitar 70-210mm f/4.5-5.6 Macro Focusing Zoom Pros: Made like a tank, yellow-green dominants, beautiful to see, vignetting marked at 210mm, f 3.5 constant, easy to disassemble and clean, it also has the writings on the front ring with a beautiful font like the one on the barrel and are also colored! Excellent macro function that makes you get very close to objects. Cons: It is not made for those looking for sharpness and hyperdetail. Opinion: I speak for the Vivitar Series 1 70-210 f 3.5 first series, since there is no list.... Bought for 50€ because it had a halo in the third lens of the front group that I easily cleaned, everything else was in excellent condition, including the original metal cap. Used on serious SLR bodies such as Nikon D700 and similar, it balances perfectly and is a pleasure to use. It tends to green-yellow as a rendering, giving a vintage halo to your shots with a sharpness more than good and a splendid vignetting at 210 mm \\ f 3.5 that will embellish your portraits. Aesthetically it is a fairy tale to see and every mechanism moves fluidly, plus it has a very effective macro function with a crank to insert it fun to use. The bokeh is vaguely swirl. If you find it in good condition under 100€ it is definitely worth it; I looked for the first version, the one from the serials with the first 2 numbers "22" produced by Kiron, while the third digit is the end of the year of production, in my case 228, then 1978, the front diameter is 67 mm. Watch out for the fluidity of the pump mechanism and the mushrooms always lurking. Recommended for lovers of old people, together with its close relative Kiron 70-210 f 4.0 pump and the Vivitar 70-210 f 3.5 bighiera, from the creamy fluidity of maf movements and zoom unparalleled in the world of vintage optics. sent on January 17, 2023 |
![]() | Nikon SC Auto 50mm f/1.4 Pros: Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! Extreme vignetting and soft rendering at f 1.4, magnificent for portraits in b \ , impeccable construction, double ring dripping, small and practical. Cons: ZERO Opinion: I have the smooth S version without the C (which stands for "coated") of 1973, the last with the anti-reflective amber for screaming bianconeri. I bought it for 70 € and I have lovingly arranged it: if you want the best look for the specimens modified at home, in this way you will also have the ring of the diaphragms with the scallops, very practical in the changed and aesthetically libidinous. On the D700 it is an enchantment, especially in the black and white: attenuated contrasts, imposing TA vignetting and soft rendering will guarantee you set portraits and fabulous half-busts. Range to f2 suddenly changes character, becoming sharp and contrasted for analytical photos. No one can call themselves Nikonist without having this lens in the bag :) Recommended for those who love images of strong character and do not let themselves be attracted by the sirens of sterile modern sharpness. sent on October 04, 2022 |
![]() | Samyang 85mm f/1.4 Aspherical IF Pros: Bright, sharp, optimized for f 1.4, smooth and smooth maf, manual. Cons: The maf ring can become hard or irregular, but just a little fat and come back as new. Not vignette. Opinion: I have it for some years, searched and bought used in the very first Nikon version, the one depicted here with the gold plate, without the contacts for the confirmation chip of the maf, by real men. :) Actually the focus is extremely delicate, even on FF: if you breathe wrong, if the model breathes wrong, the TA tripod is almost a must; ... if at one meter in a face turned of 3 \ \ 4 and' in focus the tip of 1 eyelash, its root already' is not' more', so the maf and' absolutely surgical. The flare suffers little or nothing, it is robust and well built, even if internally it does not have a helical but relies on the most modern nylon nozzles inside the bores on the barrel. The dedicated hood is fragile, but at least it is simply bayonet grafted. This first version has the least effective anti-reflective treatment, so the blur is slightly butterier than the following others (source: direct comparisons on the web). I am very sorry that you do not vignette, because in the portrait it is for me a very welcome feature of the optics. I rarely use it: I much prefer the old Nikkor-S 50 f 1.4, but if I want sharp results and without vintage glazes I use this. I paid 160€ with original box, caps, hood and 2 years warranty. If I had to buy it again, honestly I wouldn't do it, but only because for my style I prefer the vintage rendering of the 50-S and I later discovered that in the portrait the focal length of 135mm is more congenial to me, with the Nikkor-Q 135 f 2.8 sent on September 11, 2022 |
![]() | Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 AF (1987 version) Pros: Robust, it has a real internal helical for manual maf, quiet colors, good sharpness, switching from af to manual with a single move. Cons: AF lentino, but if you do not chase hares is fine, front & back focus not solvable if not accepting a compromise at halfway, difficult to hold to carry it around without shoulder strap Opinion: Quoto Gsabbio before me. I have both grandfather 80-200 f 4.5 and this one. I looked for the very first version because 1) aesthetically I like it very much 2) it has the intuitive multi-position ring limiter 3) I dreamed of it for a lifetime 4) inside, unlike the successors who use nylon notches on the bores in the barrel, it has a real helical for the maf, so the feeling it returns is like focusing with the grandfather f 4.5: a pleasure ! You can also leave the selector of the reflex on af, because passing in manual internally is decoupled the transmission shaft from the screw mount. Progressive and soft pump, it is done very well and apart from a possible regreasing of the helical after 30 years (if necessary), it does not require maintenance; the diaphragm selector is comfortable and well accessible. Quiet colors and good sharpness, it suffers from front and back focus, which can be canceled only in a certain focal length: moving the zoom obviously the defect will return to reveal itself in a progressive but regular and predictable way as you move away from the correct point. Eye that is not parafocal. My specimen is a '92 fineserie, found really used as new at 270 € 2 years warranty, with box and original case. Between the grandfather f 4.5 and this I prefer the ancestor as a general yield, but if there is little light there is no history: it goes 2.8 ! To have for every self-respecting Nikonist. sent on September 09, 2022 |
![]() | Nikon AF 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5 Pros: Very robust to be an AF, extraordinarily fun on Aps-c with the wide-angle macro mode, which allows close-up thrusts well set with a remarkable perspective and immersive effect in the scene; maintains its brightness for a long time: f 3.5 constant from 28 to 35mm, f 3.8 from 35 to 50mm, f 4 from 50 to 70, and f 4.5 from 70 to 85; they pull it behind you for four bucks, af responsive and quite fast. FLUID MAF bezel also in manual, has a diaphragm ring and is written "Made In Japan" !!! Cons: It stretches a little zooming in and rotates the front lens. Opinion: In a word: funny ! I have the first version, the one with the thin and knurled plastic maf ring: even nice to see, it is a nice brick without annoying optical kit games. It does not vignette and does not produce flares, on D700 and D200 it is a pleasure and balances well with the 2 old women. Mount the unusual 62 filters. It covers a very useful range for trips, and the macro mode is very fun, as I said above. Sturdy plastics and zoom rubberized bezel with excellent grip, a little less than that of the maf, but you get used to it. It does not immediately become a dark cave like some modern varifocals when zooming in on the canvas: it retains brightness for a long time. It suffers from aberrations and physiological drops at TA, but recovers well if closed by at least one stop until f11. For what it costs, it is worth trying !!! sent on April 11, 2022 |
![]() | Nikkor 135mm f/2.8 Q Pros: Built for eternity, only 4 lenses, blurred by screaming, 225 very long degrees of rotation for the maf ring, aesthetically a wonder, integrated hood with velvet-like interior, mounts very cheap 52mm filters. Cons: Maf necessarily surgical, you need a serious REFLEX to manage it natively. Opinion: A seasoning of buttery meltability for your portraits, will give you a soft blur for the background and delicate light for the face: you will become the hero of every model. It is a very close relative of the legendary Nikkor-P 180 f 2.8: practically with the same internal construction but smaller and optically with one lens less; 100% metal and glass; only maintenance: every 50 years it will be necessary to change the grease of the double internal helicoids. It should be used preferably on easel, in the studio, with controlled lights: it has pastel tones and delicate shades; it makes good both in FF and Aps-c, does not vignette and suffers little direct light, does not produce flares. Anyone involved in portraiture should have it in their bag: a little piece of Nikon history. Mine is from 1970 and I disassembled, cleaned and regreased it completely. I recommend PTFE grease for the internal helical, lithium for the external one and graphite powder for the diaphragm and its linkages. Here it is disassembled for those who want to appreciate the SPLENDID internal construction. https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?t=4209646&bk=n-1-&l=it sent on April 01, 2022 |
![]() | Tokina RMC 70-210mm f/3.5 Pros: Manual, indestructible, nice to see, very smooth rings, f 3.5!!! Cons: At 3.5 You have to be snipers to focus correctly with digital. Opinion: Bought used in the version not pump but bighiera for 30 euros from physical shop with 6 months warranty, I have it for more than a year and is one of my favorite lenses: I use the Nikon AI version on D700 and D200, and the reduced diameter allows me a fairytale grip. The rings are the most goduriosamente fluid has ever tried, without games nor serrating and fantastic grip. It is a constant f 3.5 and allows you to photograph in small halls with low illumination on the 1600 ISO. The color rendition is slightly desaturated and with quiet contrast, no surgical hypersharpness and a fulmicotone chromatic, the MACRO position makes it a very versatile tool. It is very well on the sides with powerful aberrations on FF, but since I don't spend the days photographing brick walls or putting the subject on the extreme sides of the frame, I'm fine with it. I bring it everywhere with great satisfaction. sent on March 23, 2019 |
![]() | Soligor AF 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5 Pros: Light, af very fast, ... Hey: for 40 euros you have a REAL 19 mm on fullframe !!! Cons: Very plastic construction, optical core sealed to plutonium: if the inner lens is opaque it is IMPOSSIBILE to be opened. Opinion: Taken with 40 euros x have a wide angle for the D700 Nikon. Exterior construction reads but brass AF internal gears, made a little soft to ta, convincing from f5.6 to f22, moderate distortion to cat whisk on the edges. If nothing else the af is a real lightning bolt ! It allows you to have fun with very little expense. My specimen had a white matte inside the optical core which is a single block milled in aluminum, but they were not mushrooms... boh: attempted everything x remove the lenses, but without success, however it is noticed only in the presence of strong lights that enter the lens with a slight drop in contrast, otherwise it is perfect and usable without patemi. It mounts 77 filters, much more expensive than the object itself, fortunately the front lens is little bombed, does not stick out (you can place it on an upside-down table and the glass will not touch the surface) and is still surrounded by a large flange with branded inscriptions, focal point etc... ending in the filter fillet, making a valid shock shield. In case you need it, the fine adjustment for the infinite autofocus is easily achieved by slightly rotating the optical core through the keys to open the lenses, without unscrewing the rear bayonet. ---> Update: I liked it so much that I took another identical to 40 euros brand VIVITAR, this time as new: perfect lenses and better sharpness even aTA. For a few euros I equipped it with a collapsible rubber lampshade that does not even vignette on ff and an old linear polarizer that improves the contrast. Recommended. sent on February 15, 2019 |
![]() | Nikon D200 Pros: CCD and related color profiles, tank body, physical control Gazillioni, ease of use with AI lenses, magnificent high ISO grain. Cons: It's not a Pivelli machine... Opinion: Bought used 6 months ago with only 16,000 shots to support it to an equally magnificent Canon 5d1, they represent 2 worlds that coexist in the same universe to give you unreachable images with modern DSLRs. Abandon the worries from raw post-production, quietly shooting in jpg and leaving you fascinated by its magnificent colors and the pleasure of handling a real reflex. Your fingers will savor the sensory pleasures of a body in Tostissima, cold, eternal magnesium alloy, and you will forget the concept of the menu: here all you need has a physical command exactly where one expects it. The colors are beautiful: blue, green and yellow as only the old Nikon knew how to treat you; and using the ISO expansion at 3200, it transforms into an excellent automatic image generator with fascinating analog grain. The sound of the mirror-shutter group is also stronger than the D300 and D700, and it will seem to you to use the old 70 film SLR cameras: They will knock you out instantly from every church with your immense satisfaction. The configuration of the old AI lenses is simple, fast and immediate, and thanks to its weight and excellent grip scales the manual optics perfectly (I took it to use almost exclusively those). If necessary, it can be used as a lethal weapon, hurming it forcefully against malicious attackers. Beware: It is not a car for tourists on Sundays, you have to know what you are doing, pain the feeling of having for your hands a useful thing like your grandmother's iron. If used with head gives photos from the strong personality, otherwise pass also the various entry-level or new mirrorless home and select the green rectangle in the ring. Good pictures. sent on February 04, 2019 |
![]() | Nikon AF 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 Pros: Nice to see and use, compact, has the aperture ring, you do a bit ' of everything, possesses the quiet rendition and beautiful colors of the AF-D, plastic construction but very solid, manual focus beautiful fluid. Cons: Eye to the slow diaphragm x old oil. Opinion: I do not feel to criticize him: Nice to use and see (for me) is in the pocket of the jacket and is convenient for transport, just do not rub the sun in his face and does his job, at most you put a polarizer. A machine with the AF motor is mandatory. Thanks to his bad reputation they pull him around for two bucks, and if you break it..... Take another one now, however it is easy to disassemble. Note: It has a known defect that consists of the slow return of the diaphragm from 32 to 3.3, this implies a constant overexposure if you use closed. It easily resolves by dismantling and cleaning the diaphragm with pure IPA, or by hacking the diaphragm lever for 5 minutes by opening and closing the blades. It should be enough to restore fluidity to the old oil permanently. sent on January 16, 2019 |
![]() | Canon EF 180mm f/3.5 L Macro USM Pros: Build quality, autofocus speed, fluidity manual focus ring, brightness, sharpness, tactile feeling. Cons: Pesantino if carried around all day. Opinion: Premise. I come from a Canon T90 with kit FD: With the digital jump I took the machine and lenses that I more return the sensations of analogue. I chose the 5d Classic with the 180 macro both used: they form a perfectly balanced pair; The goal, all IN black metal, is beautiful to see and above all an absolute pleasure to challenge and has a convenient ring for manual focus (IN This the helicoid of the FD was unbeatable). The autofocus is fast, even with very little light, as long as it is limited by the special switch: it is comparable to the speed of the 200 f 2.8. I work 99.9% ad f 3.5 together with the 20 mm f2.8 for my outputs: coupled to the right machine is a lens to have for those who love to enjoy the pleasure of taking pictures. sent on June 06, 2018 |
