Pros: Pleasure to hold in the hand, 100,000 physical controls, only 4 mpx, most beautiful viewfinder ever seen, nice shutter sound and mirror lifter, colors all its own.

Cons: Physiological "Err" at the first shot: from the second onwards everything is fine.

Opinion: A camera to take photos in relaxation: 1) with only 4 mpx say goodbye definitively to the problem of micro-blur and EVERY lens, even the most horrendous toilet ever built, will seem superbly solving; 2) with 4GB of CF card you will make more than 1,000 jpgs; 3) raw is not needed... anyway you don't recover anything and the crop is impractical: either you are real photographers and do everything right immediately or goodbye photos 4) looking in the viewfinder it will seem to be in an IMAX cinema from the last rows, with an audience between you and the screen: double display and the whole frame under your eye without moving the pupil 5) move beggarly with the reflexxinas of tourists: with that in hand YOU are the real pros, the others garbage 6) it has very personal colors, and I advise you to go deep with the jpg settings in the camera in a philosophical way, for example completely canceling the sharpness or staring the hue at +\\- nine 7) internal autofocus engine that moves even your mom's Fiat Panda like a rocket 8) forget the intricate menu of modern plastic mirrorless cameras: here there are 4 voices on the cross and everything has a physical command anyway 9) made like a Russian tank 10) no video, liveview or modern softness, here you have to know how to photograph, it does not forgive errors of exposure and those who arrive from the slides will be at home: either save the shadows or keep the highlights 11) eternal battery 12) very comfortable grip 13) balances and holds very well every pump zoom and every AI lens 14) the D2 series is the only one that can use the exclusive TC16A extender, which thanks to its internal mechanics and electronics magically transforms any old manual lens into autofocus (having the foresight to gently prefocus on the subject to lock it). Not recommended for modern mirrorless fans, post-production enthusiasts, point-and-shoot tourists and lovers of automatic mode.

Pros: Ergonomics, file quality, precision

Cons: If we take into account that we are talking about a project from the early 2000s in 2021, I would say nothing.

Opinion: I understand that buying a d2hs in 2021 may seem bizarre but it was a lot that intrigued me and at one point I did the "madness". On the one hand I wanted to try the Jfet-LBcast sensor and then I wanted to understand by touching firsthand what it meant to have as many as 4 mp in 2021. My REFLEX is a d700 that I always use with BG so I find the d2hs smaller and lighter. However, it falls into the hands of perfection and external controls are a pleasure. A flagship is still a flagship. I've only had it for a few days so I couldn't do that much rehearsal but, mounted on the fly on the 50 1.8 af-d and took a few shots at the cat and tried a couple of other optics quickly, once the files were opened in Capture1... wow, really beautiful. Obviously I only did a few raw and I have not yet found the optimal adjustments but on video I liked them very much, extremely natural, defined, plastics I would say silver. At 800 iso (I think it is its limit of usability, but both I took the color with the Kodachrome 25) with discreet light but in shadow no hint of noise or artifacts, fast autofocus both with the 50 and with the AF 70-210 f 4-5.6 (not D) and precise ball with the 180 2.8 ai-s. Pleasant and usable viewfinder for manual focus. A few focus points but in the right place and they all seem accurate to me. The limits are all too obvious for a product from 20 years ago but, in my very modest opinion, what it has to do is still doing it well. I didn't try the burst but I use it very little. The shutter has about 195,000 shots so I'm aware that everyone could be the last, however it produces a very pleasant noise. In short, I took off the challenge and I am happy, it surprised me now I have to try it better and I will probably update this short comment.
