![]() | Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Pros: Optics many practice and comada as an all-rounder. If you know what you buy, well you know how you should use it and what to expect. Cons: At times the stabilizer must "understand" and if it is not stationary, then there is a risk of micro blur. Opinion: The 24-105L that I used fixed on the 5Dmkii failed. Then wanting to change... I took a Sigma 17-35, but the feeling didn't click. Anyway I missed the longer focal length... In short, the 5D remained on the stock exchange. I have been shooting for years then out the legendary 7D mki, with the classic 18-55 IS from the kit. Surprised that today between ACR, profiles and AI... well the shots weren't that bad. So I decide to give her a second chance. I tried a 15-85 which, although excellent, I was missing a few millimeters for the real all-rounder. I've read around a lot... and I realized that the predecessors of the 18-135 kit were in fact very poor. The STM variant, however, fared much better. In fact it seems to have an extra UD lens... ? Well, the difference is very noticeable. I got it on a well-known site of used 100 bags and boom snapped the feeling. Always coming from good L and FF series glasses, I must say that the combo doesn't suck. Indeed! I immediately felt good in readiness, ergonomics and weights. Optically it is good as long as you always set f/8. Autofocus good and fast, but sometimes lacks at 135mm, that is, it struggles to refresh a point if before it was set very closely. But in short, it can be there. No discrepancies or disappointing notes, if as I said you keep it at f/8 where it gives graphs and in practice gives the best on all focal lengths. A sore point is the stabilizer that sometimes does not "stop" and perhaps causes micro-blur. This is mostly at higher focal lengths. So I have to say excellent lens for lighter and calmer rides. It doesn't want to be a fast lens for sports etc... Understanding its limitations, I get excellent results for me. I think the 7D is already at the limit of the Mpix 18, to make sure that the lens solves them all. 15Mpix in my opinion would be better. But even so, it's fine. I know that there is the new USM version but I can't say on an optical level how it lends itself. If it's the same or similar in build and quality as the new 70-300IS USM, well then I think it's worth it. The cost, however, is already triple if not more. With this old 7D and 18-135 combo, well even if I get it or forget around... at worst maybe 200 francs, and not a thousand and more with another setup. Moreover, it is inconspicuous! sent on September 30, 2024 |
![]() | Canon 7D Pros: Ergonomics, construction, reliability, and overall quality make it a reflex lady even in 2024! Cons: The black AF points... I don't like them Opinion: I got this reflex at the ridiculous figure of 160e used, rubbed body, hard keys... had been stopped for some time. Taken up by me, passed a cloth over it, pressed all the keys twice, it became 100% functional again. So passed with flying colors. I have owned the 5D, the mkii, 1Ds mkii, 1DX, 40D, etc... As a coprpo it has excellent ergonomics, very good viewfinder. He hasn't betrayed me yet, that's it. I must say that more than one person complains about noisy ISOs... Maybe yes, but today with AI you can remove the noise in one click. That said, the file, even if noisy after 1600-3200 (a matter of opinion though...) remains "crispy" and clean. Without many artifacts. What I like is the shutter speed, the buffer, in short, the operation always ready. The "only" 18mp are not a problem, indeed in some ways a PLUS. It doesn't need L lenses to give its best like some FF bodies, where if you don't have the red line in front of you, it doesn't have sharpness and quality. I only took it to have the 1.6x factor of the sensor, which I use on the 70-300 USM II. Together they don't make a fuss. Without having a very expensive kit, both the 7D and the telephoto are perfect together. I don't need any extender, and I get almost to 500mm at F5.6 where the lens itself is stra great at TA! What more could you want? So I would say that the fame of a reflex gentleman is more than justified, from every point of view. sent on September 09, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Pros: Lightweight, practical and standard focal ranges always at your fingertips. Cons: For the cost I would say nothing. It is not an L series but it defends itself. Opinion: Recently taken to replace a 24-105L that has decided to stop working the diaphragm group!! The 28-135 has its greater versatility, lower weight and smaller footprint. Optically it suffers from AC but in PP I eliminate it in an instant. IDEM disstronions. It does not give you the feeling of robustness of an L lens but to know it first you must have it and therefore also from this point of view the lens is built well. It lacks a lower micro contrast than the 24-105. Maybe that's just what makes it different. But otherwise if used well and closed at f8/11 from in better. The price of used is ridiculous when compared to the 24-105L! AF and IS good and not at all slow or limiting in use. So in my opinion having tried both I miss the extra 4mm and a micro engraving / three-dimensionality of the 24-105. For the rest VOTE 8,5! Paid 80,00€ perfect used! P.S. the 24-105 also has its defects and in fact the "L" deserves it for sure, but it also has gaps ... sent on March 29, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM II Pros: All for the price! Unreachable if you don't need an L series. Cons: Nothing at all, maybe just the first hook of the stabilizer. Opinion: Reluctant to make reviews... but here it is a must. Now someone will ling me but... surpasses in image quality the smooth white 70-200L f4! I confirm it as I had it and overused it but on APS-C it suffered from the complexity of the lenses. Especially at night and with very marked reflections. QUi we are instead on FF 5D mkii goes great. On 7D this lens is sewn. It has only a slight drop at the edges that in reality I can say that it is minimal and that it is also the fault of the refraction-cleaning of the air when on APS-C it reaches 480mm. A small flaw (always for the price of the lens) perhaps only the first hook of the stabilizer. A Tamron equal focal the stabilizer starts immediately... Here it has a micro lag before you decide whether to correct vertically or orrizanthally. But when he takes (Anyway right away) it's like having a tripod. 4 safe stops. 480mm at 1/60 holds up very well. So if you don't have to stress the lens and use it as a pro L (born to be smunti) is for you. If you need safety, tropicalization, metal,... etc... then go to L series. For the rest I repeat for myself that I have had many lenses and for the major L series it is unattainable for price performance. Found used at 300e with warranty I have not yet removed it from the 7D for 1 year. I had the bianchino that I was moltipliavo with extender 1,4mkII but ... we are not even far away. The 2xII idem... DeIffrazione, drop on 5Dmkii and 1dsmkii. Then promoted to safe grade 9. sent on November 16, 2021 |

![]() | Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Pros: Light, luminous, excellent quality already at TA. Cons: For the performance price none! I just poured a blurred but nervous twist. Opinion: I've been looking for this lens for a long time now, and I've finally found it. Analyzing my shots in some scenes I used the 28mm zoom lens with 24-105L zoom but I always missed at least 1-2 stop in the interior. Now with the 28mm 1.8 I go quiet.rn I have to dislodge the MTF curves and various tests where it turns out that apart from the center the edges disgust even by closing ... my specimen is great, a blade at 2.8 but defends well af /2.0. A TA 1.8 is just a soft pelina but is recovered immediately in PP. It has a very clear central area of ??sharpness that allows it to make beautiful set backs and impressive blur effects. The blur is durable but still pleasing. If you developed RAW with a SW at the height (DXO use) it really pulls out the top cover + lens.rnHo also the 35mm f / 2 old which is not bad at all but ... not using as much 35mm ... I put it down and maybe I sell it. In terms of AF it is a true lightning suppur the lens has its years (as a project). Opinion: I took this lens used to 200.00 € and I am overjoyed. I tried now in many different ways. Maybe because my copy is successful, but I must say it is very clear already at TA. No strange flare or AC obvious to give disorder. Using indoors for ceremonies and the like is domostra very valid. 2.8 onwards is magnificent. At f / 5 hole in the screen. very mounted varies on different cameras. At least this is my impression. On 1ds mkii excellent and beautiful outdoors while with the 5d fantastic old indoors. ![]() | Canon EF 35mm f/2.0 Pros: Lightweight and well built. Optimum efficiency even at room temperature. Perfect for street and reportage out / indoor. AF albeit not USM fast and accurate. Unusable side AF points with a 5D MKi. Cons: Suffer from flare greatly in extreme conditions not yet even if you use the lens hood. AF motor noisy but I really thought worse. Opinion: I state that I own other optics "L" series of the house but I have to say that the Canon 35mm will not be fixed to the top of the range but does very well. Fast AF and TA in excellent yield. At f / 2 great cuts in the backgrounds. Mm lens from the right people for street and reportage. Just like coma to me. Great for portraits half-length.
