![]() | Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Pros: Sharpness and image quality Cons: Maybe the collar, but just to say something Opinion: I have been using this telephoto zoom for a long time that I take to the mountains because of the small bulk in my backpack; the AF depends mainly on the Fuji camera bodies (WHICH is well known DO NOT shine in this) but the image quality and sharpness are really out of any criticism with a slight decrease in sharpness at maximum focal length. I have photographed chamois, ibex, squirrels and birdlife always with an excellent quality/price ratio. Too bad that Fuji bodies, despite having a high sensor quality, sin in AF because otherwise with this lens you could always take action photos at the TOP even if with a little technique and luck everything is possible sent on March 13, 2025 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 18mm f/2 R Pros: compactness, definition in the center diaphragm Cons: Older AF motor, excessive chromatic aberration, CT edge definition Opinion: I had been looking for it for a while and in the end I found it, together with the 27 and the 60 Fuji makes a nice trio to carry around when weight and size are the priority; optically it is not the best, especially for the strong chromatic aberration (especially purple fraying) that can be seen in contrasting landscape and architecture photos. At f/2 only enough performance, but it's such a pleasure to have it with me that in the end I didn't resell it even with all its limitations (you can see that it's a bit dated project and should be updated) sent on January 10, 2025 |
![]() | Nikon Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Pros: Sharpness and responsive AF; lightness Cons: Plasticky Opinion: an excellent lens taken in Kit with the Z50 II; together they work great, I used it to take photos of animals in the Gran Paradiso and you can count the hairs of the fox and deer that I framed. The combination with the Z50 II makes it responsive and performing. Of course the construction is not PRO-level, as well as the brightness (but how much this would have affected the price which in the kit is really low) but the performance is certainly up to par and then it is very light, perfect for long hikes in the mountains sent on December 21, 2024 |
![]() | Nikon Z50 II Pros: AF, Nikon's signature menu, clean files even at high ISO, weight and overall dimensions Cons: perhaps IBIS and a 24/26 Mpxl sensor would have made it perfect, but that's okay - dedicated DX lenses too few - battery life Opinion: after bitter disappointments regarding the recent Fuji camera bodies with uncertain and fluctuating AF, I decided to abandon the brand (too bad for the wonderful optics) and I bought the Z50 II kit with 16-50, 50-250 and I also gave myself the 180-600 and the 12-28. I went to try it in the beautiful Gran Paradiso park in search of animals unfortunately during a gloomy day. Despite the scarcity of light and therefore using high ISO up to 6400 (and beyond) the little girl responded very well by churning out clean files and adequate colors. AF not infallible, but very responsive and up to the situation thanks also to the recognition of mammals and birds. Of course I want to test it also on the landscape where Fuji excelled but for now I am very satisfied and I hope that in the future Nikon can churn out a professional APS-C body (and a few more DX lenses) so as not to make me regret my D500 too much, which however this Z50 II more than worthily supports. I reserve the right to investigate when I have had it in my hands for a little longer. For trekking photos in the high mountains, weight and dimensions are also a decisive factor, a field in which the little girl and her kit excel. Get a few extra batteries because, especially in the cold, you don't end the day... P.S. I found the LUT button for my kind of photography COMPLETELY USELESS, fortunately you can change it from the menu dedicating it to more interesting functions (for me) sent on December 21, 2024 |
![]() | Fujifilm X-T5 Pros: Ergonomics, robustness Cons: Inaccuracy and unpredictability of Autofocus Opinion: I've had the XT 5 for a few months, and I've been experiencing bitter disappointment. Even with the various updates or settings of all kinds, the AF was inaccurate and unpredictable, so much so that in the end I returned it to the store. Honestly, you can NOT spend almost 2000 euros to have such a ciofeca... IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE; and I don't think mine is an isolated case given the complaints you read on the WEB. Those who had a good time were really lucky... but there are several (too many?) evidently defective devices around - Fuji NEVER again sent on September 17, 2024 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR Pros: compact and high-performance Cons: slightly soft at the extreme edges in the wide-angle position Opinion: light, tropicalized, you can also do macro not extreme, for now it's fine and I'm satisfied; the price alone is exaggerated but taken in a kit it is reduced a lot; excellent travel companion to stay light in the mountains, I paired it with the XS20 and with a few other lenses I have a perfect combo during tiring mountain excursions thanks also to the Sirui AT 125 tripod sent on September 16, 2024 |
