lowepro_truckee_bp250lxLowepro Truckee BP 250 LX

Pros: Dimensions, space for camera equipment, separate space, protection, double side pockets with tripod straps

Cons: For the moment, none

Opinion: I was looking for a backpack to take with me on my bike when I go out to take pictures, I tried many until I landed on this model which is perfect. I was looking for a space dedicated to photography and a separate generic space in which to store a visor for the helmet and other accessories for the motorcycle. This backpack is perfect, small, comfortable and light, so much so that now even on vacation it is my first choice. On the last holiday I left with A7IV+ 24/70 gm, drone + batteries, 70/200 2.8 and dji osmo pocket in the space dedicated to photography, in the upper pocket I put the drone control and a sweatshirt. It also has various pockets that can be used for filters, triggers, tabs etc etc. In short, for activities where you don't have to practice only photography and want to stay light, it is a highly recommended choice.

sony_fe70-200f2-8gm_iiSony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II

Pros: Weight, Construction, Sharpness, AF

Cons: Cost

Opinion: I was undecided whether to buy this lens or the first version of the GM, but those only 1040g on a 70-200 were too tempting. Once I gave away an organ, I realized that it was worth it, finally I can face entire portraiture sessions with just this lens, without having to replace it to rest my arm. When you hold it in your hand it is so light that it seems to be missing something, then once you get to the PC, it surprises with the quality of the photos it gives. It's also razor-sharp at 200mm f2.8, where it renders fantastic bokeh. In addition to these qualities, it is the sharpest and most contrasty 70-200 I have ever owned. All combined with a precise and fast af and a perfect Gm lens construction. Even in motorsport, I can easily take photos at 200mm f2.8 and be comfortable with the result. In short, the cost is a con, but it is worth every penny spent.

sigma_85_f1-4artSigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

Pros: Sharpness, AF, color rendering, blurred

Cons: Weight and bulk, front lens cap.

Opinion: The 85mm is the lens I can't get out of my camera and in the case of this sigma art, with good reason. The first thing that struck me and that I then found as its strong point, is the color rendering of the photos, it stands out from all the other lenses in my kit for the colors of the images, incredible. Razor-sharp even at full aperture and with an autofocus that doesn't even look like that of such a bright 85mm. On the other hand, there is the weight and bulk. I come from an Ef 85mm F1.2 L II that looked like a 50ino in comparison, this sigma is heavy and gigantic, so much so that I often find myself forced not to put it in my backpack. The Sony Fe version is also quite tilted forward. But once you mount it in the camera and start shooting, you absolutely forget about its mammoth nature.

canon_70-200_f2-8_v2Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II USM

Pros:

Cons: Weight

Opinion: A lens that if you can carry around, does not make you regret fatigue. I used it extensively for sports photography, it allowed me to easily hook subjects at 100kmh at full aperture and churn out sharp photos with a beautiful blur. Always used on mirrorless, unfortunately it was heavily unbalanced by the adapter and here comes its only cons: weight. As much as I loved it in portraiture, I did without it because of the weight and bulk. Lens that I still loved with a fast and precise af, very sharp at all focal lengths and with a fantastic bokeh.

sony_a7ivSony A7 IV

Pros: Sharpness, autofocus performance, dynamic range, construction, customizable dials and buttons

Cons: Lack of focus bracketing, sensor that gets really dirty easily, 10fps as maximum burst

Opinion: Switched to Sony from Eos R5 because I was looking for a camera around 30Mp with stabilized sensor that Canon does not have in the catalog, and also for the wide range of lenses from Sony and third parties, I did not regret the passage. The A7IV holds its own against the R5 when it comes to focus tracking, even in low-light and difficult backlit situations. I had the opportunity to test it in birdlife, although I am a beginner, in moments of excitement when I had little time for shooting, I then realized that the fire always fell into the eye of the subject. The menu has improved but still difficult to understand for those coming from Canon, I had to follow various tutorials and set it finely, especially the part concerning the autofocus. Raw file really nice to work, compared to Canon loses a little bit on the shadows but gains as far as the highlights are concerned. Fantastic dynamic range and sharpness to sell, it's just what I was looking for in my portraits where I work the file 100%. There is no focus bracketing and this is a big flaw for a machine with so much technology, for extreme magnifications in macro you have to resort to a microslide. I then put among the defects the burst from 10fps, although you know at the time of purchase, and even if then a greater burst is not really necessary, since the camera costs almost € 3000, I find it at fault, especially compared to the competition. Last thing, I find myself having to blow the sensor after almost every output, it tends to get dirty really easily despite there is the protective curtain with the chamber off. Apart from these small defects that are known during the purchase, the A7IV is a great camera that allows you to get really quality photographs and to be comfortable in almost all situations (except in macro), today I would also buy it as a second camera body.

sigma_150-600cSigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM C

Pros: Weight. focal range, blurred

Cons: Too soft at 600mm

Opinion: Lens that I used mostly on the track for motorcycle photos and with which I found myself very well, I preferred the contemporary to the sport version because of the weight and the fact that I often carried it with me on a motorcycle put inside the backpack. As much as it was good for motorcycle photos, the opposite I found in birdlife, I came home with most of the photos to throw away. With little light at 600mm it was practically unusable

lowepro_fastpack_pro_bp250aw_iiiLowepro Fastpack Pro BP 250 AW III

Pros: Comfort, materials, protection of photographic material, top compartment, side pocket for tripod

Cons: It is not possible to join the upper compartment with the lower one, it is therefore impossible to transport large lenses in case of need.

Opinion: I use this backpack to do everything except for birdlife, as the Sony 200-600 is just right, if detached from the camera. For all other uses I find it very convenient, especially in excursions where the separate compartments allow you to carry objects such as gloves, keys, spare clothing, etc., keeping the photographic material safe, closed elsewhere. Very comfortable on the back even when charging and I am very satisfied with the materials that protect the camera. My computer fits comfortably and there are also many pockets for memory cards, photo filters etc.

canon_85_f1-2_v2Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 L II USM

Pros: Blur, colors, plane separation, f1.2

Cons: I can no longer use other lenses

Opinion: Lens that I loved from the first shot, I really had trouble taking it off the camera. Bokeh and unique colors. On Eos R it was very sharp already at f1.2, on R5 it suffered a little bit from the pixels but perfect already from f2.0. The speed of the af was not a problem, especially in portraiture even in difficult light. The only real drawback is the focus ring, without end of stroke and with a bit of play, from a sense of error.

canon_eos_r5Canon EOS R5

Pros: Dynamic range, burst, raw quality, af

Cons: Ibis not very incisive, cost of rf lenses needed with this sensor, no focus stacking in the room, sharpness

Opinion: I gave up my 6Dmark2 and the Eos R attracted by the Ibis and the possibility of taking sports photos thanks to the fast burst and the most permissive viewfinder in the pursuit of fast subjects. The Eos R5 does not disappoint, the first surprise is the dynamic range, the color rendering is absurd compared to my old cameras. In sports it behaves well, easily holds the subject in chase mode and in portraits it is excellent. The defects that I found are in the ibis very little incisive, in the focus stacking that exploits the electronic shutter and therefore does not allow you to use the flash and in the use of ef lenses that do their job but suffer the 45mp of the camera, it results in a poor sharpness, even compared to the Eos R with which I allowed myself to shoot at F1.2, with the R5 it is no longer possible. For an amateur photographer buying RF lenses is really a nice expense and as long as third-party manufacturers do not produce RF lenses, this will remain a limitation of this camera.

canon_eos_rCanon EOS R

Pros: Construction, orientable screen, raw file, dynamic range, super customizable setting, maf and eye tracking with new firmware, electronic viewfinder, full frame focus.

Cons: Really slow burst and viewfinder that freezes the image during the burst!

Opinion: My first mirror less and I would not go back, thinking I have to recompose the image after taking the focus point, today makes me laugh. Good track focus on the eyes, also being able to choose the focus point with the thumb on the screen, once accustomed, is very comfortable. I only shoot in raw and find the file excellent. I don't have native lenses but I noticed that the ef lenses work even better than on reflexes as for maf, too bad for the slight imbalance due to the adapter, but you get used to it early. The real sore point is the burst, if you try to take some sporty shots, the Eos R shows all its limitations, I found it really slow and because of the optical viewfinder it is difficult to follow the object, I bought it knowing of this deficiency, but I did not think it was so limited. All in all, an exceptional machine that gives so much satisfaction

canon_50_f1-2Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L USM

Pros: Colors, bokeh, small size, F1.2

Cons: Don't have it!

Opinion: I always used the 50mm as the main lens, I wanted to buy this mythical lens and I was surprised! At F2.0 it's a scalpel but at F1.2 it does magic. If you get used to it you can no longer close the diaphragm and it becomes a drug! For the portraits set usually shot between F2 and F2.8 with great satisfaction and excellent results, in the close-ups I open everything and thank you for being there! At TA the sharpness is lower, but not such as to be a defect and the pasty rendering of the colors is, say, its signature. Excellent maf and also color rendering, it is a lens to have in your kit.

canon_24-70_v2Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM II

Pros: Sharpness, construction, reliability, maf

Cons: Excursion, no stabilization

Opinion: Taken as a handyman instead of the 24/105 F4 L, I immediately noticed the extreme sharpness! Now I can hardly get out of the house without this lens. It has a sharpness superior even to the fixed L series, excellent focus with very quiet engine, fast and precise. The bokeh is very sweet and pleasant. The only ones in the are the poor focal excursion and the absence of stabilizer (I felt the need only by shooting indoors in the evening), things known when buying a 24/70 but making themselves felt.

manfrotto_element_piccoloManfrotto Element piccolo

Pros: Lightness and clutter

Cons: For now, no one

Opinion: I was looking for a tripod to hook up to the backpack to ride, so something light and compact. I opted for this tripod and I never regretted the choice. Shot with 24/70 f2.8 and 70/200 f4 and the tripod never showed any signs of failure, even at maximum height with the 70/200 and light breeze, despite not using the ring on the lens. Also good the price, I paid 95 euros in the store.

manfrotto_pixi_evoManfrotto Pixi EVO

Pros: Small, light, comfortable and always at your fingertips

Cons: Difficult to find the frame because the lens drops for the weight, even if tight to the maximum.

Opinion: I use it when I can't carry the tripod, already using the 24/105 f4, once the car is placed, the lens drops once it leaves the weight to the tripod. it is comfortable to correlate because in certain situations you can not have the easel with you, but you do not expect great solidity. With lighter and shorter lenses it does its duty even if it is easy to expect micromox in the photo!
