hasselblad_xcd80_f1-9Hasselblad XCD 80mm f/1.9

Pros: Optically perfect (like all XCD lenses). Stratospheric in every aspect of the image.

Cons: Cost (also used, finding it), weight.

Opinion: Optically perfect at all apertures and distances, excellent blurred, excellent detachment of the planes and three-dimensionality, sin weighs almost a kg and costs what it costs. Looking at the photos, possibly printed in A2, are a spectacle, both at the canonical viewing distance, and approaching to enjoy the details (as is done with the still life paintings of the '700). For me, better than Leica and... it also costs less (almost!!!).

Pros: Stratospheric image quality also (especially) with the current canons.

Cons: Everything he doesn't have to do with IQ. It is a machine designed 25-30 years ago!!!

Opinion: I recently "resumed" old files made then (in about 2004) and, for various needs, I joined them to those of Nikon D800E, D850 and Hasselblad X1D II. On A3 prints, A3+ come out magnificent photos, the resolution gap is not as evident as you might think, the images are much more pleasant than those obtained with nikon, they approach the Hassy, which, however, is a story in itself as image quality!

nikon_24-120vr_f4Nikon AF-S 24-120mm f/4 G ED VR

Pros: Everything, it's a zoom!

Cons: For me nobody, it's a zoom!

Opinion: Purchased used. Used for what it is, it's great. On the D850 he holds the pace of the fixeds that are "next to him in the bag" (28 1.4 E, 50 1.4 G, 85 1.4 G) as regards sharpness, at the right apertures, for the rest the fixed are .... fixed bright .... It does its job beautifully when it has to and can do it, just mount it when you don't want/can use the fixeds, even if it requires a little more attention in the PP. It turns the D850 into "compact" ..... so to speak! Then it is an f 4 on all focal lengths, and it does not hurt. I'm very happy, highly recommended!

hasselblad_xcd90_f3-2Hasselblad XCD 90mm f/3.2

Pros: Optical quality from all points of view, amazing.

Cons: Cost, even used, is challenging (see below), "minimal" depth of field.

Opinion: It's mind-blowing, sharpness, micro and macro contrast, blurry (full aperture), colors, etc. It is challenging, you have to know it (like a Ferrari), "difficult" focus, at f8 focusing at 100 m the bottom to infinity is not perfectly in focus! But what is in focus .... construction by Hasselblad (only Leica and Zeiss hold the pace), central shutter, apart from the superiority with the flash, even by hand without flash is superior, does not vibrate, absence of micromosso. All the "money" it requires, returns them in both constructive quality and in the images. It's a shame it's so hard to... achieve!

hasselblad_x1d_iiHasselblad X1D II 50C

Pros: Build quality, simplicity (but you have to know how to photograph), superlative image quality.

Cons: Cost, optical cost, the sensor, immense, not protected by anything, is dusty with extreme ease, to really appreciate it you have to print and print large, monitor .... it is not worth it.

Opinion: Purchased used (giving back historical pieces to film that now took only the dust), it is not a camera for everyone (not only for the economic aspect, used we are on the order of high-end FF cameras), it is not a camera comparable to the others, the "defects" that are attributed to it are present, but, in my opinion, they are not defects, it is not a stain on action! If you need speed, don't even look at it. If you do not need the speed is excellent, easy to use (you have to know how to photograph), it is easy to manage, it is a bit like returning to film .... with all the advantages of digital! Extraordinary files, colors, sharpness, contrast, dynamic range, you know the optical film bench, well, we are there. If the photo does not come, the fault lies with the photographer. For the "normal" photographic genres (landscape, portrait, travel photos, etc.) it is perfect, the speed is more than enough (I normally used Leica rangefinder without light meter, with external light meter, never had speed problems, just know how to do), and in addition it has the autofocus, for me it has become essential since presbyopia was added to myopia, the speed of the autofocus is sufficient for "normal" situations. Then it does not vibrate, micromosso absent, even in the hand, with appropriate times (there is no comparison with SLRs). If you love reflective and accurate photography it is wonderful, it really makes you return the pleasure of making (in the sense of building, it is nice to make the journey, not just get to the destination) photographs. If you can, it is absolutely recommended, just use it for what it is designed for, looking and, above all, printing the files you will be impressed and ....you will forget all the "inconveniences". Lucky that still are made cameras like that, even if the mobiles go .... great, but it's not the same, at least for me!

manfrotto_468rc2Manfrotto 468 RC2

Pros: Terrible...."weld" the cameras to the stand, it's fluid, it's frictionable, it's sweet, it's "soft" while you're on the night.

Cons: The clutch knob is exposed to shocks when ..... the easel falls!

Opinion: It's mounted on 055. Cameras eye height without extending the column, all very stable, even with D850 and 180 f 2.8D that has no trestle attachment. I've never tried arks, but with the 468 I don't know what to want better. When the stand falls, from closed, without camera, of course, it always falls on the knob from the clutch with obvious consequences on the same, aesthetic, never functional.

nikon_d850Nikon D850

Pros: File/photo quality, well done, reliable. Use XQD.

Cons: Weight, footprint and price (but are there alternatives?)

Opinion: I have been owning it since November 2017, I am very satisfied, it has replaced in practice and in the heart the Hasselblad 500 C/M with its objectives, without regrets for quality, what else to add! It has also replaced 2 Leica M4-P with related objectives, again without regret. It requires goals above all suspicion, but then gives you absolutely fulfilling photographs. I still have a habit of printing my photos at home, 90% in B&W in sizes between 30x40 and 40x60 (Epson P800 with roll paper), absolutely comparable to Hasselblad, indeed ..... with all the advantages .... digital technology. For me the only valid reason for not having it is ...... its cost, unfortunately not for everyone, these days! With regard to the use of XQD, it is to be considered an advantage over SD, robustness, reliability, speed in downloading files, for now, never lost a file, SDs look like "ciaffi" compared. Practice to use, precise, very comfortable on easel; in live view with the adjustable screen and touch focus is a libidine! What else to add, the more time passes and the happier I am, magnificent machine, then it is also a Nikon (I started photographing with a Nikon Ft-2, then flanked by an F2A).

nikon_d800eNikon D800E

Pros: Great car, great photos, but......

Cons: ..... excessive presence of micromox.

Opinion: Excellent machine, takes magnificent photos, when taking measures for the micromosso!!! Too bad for this flaw, otherwise it could have been the ultimate machine, I see very little room to improve files already close to perfection. For landscapers, on an easel, it's perfect, using mirror-up shooting. I replaced it with the D850, now I am 'serene'.

nikon_sb300afNikon SB-300 AF Speedlight

Pros: Size, weight, all in all the price.

Cons: Modest power to be an "external" flah

Opinion: It's a great replacement for built-in flashes for cameras that don't have them. In the bag you do not notice, it does not occupy, almost, space and weighs a little ineze. If you need it .... comfortable, unpretentious; personally I also use it as a trigger for other flash with photocell (for this I use an old Metz 45ct1, still magnificent!!), not in i-TTL! If the camera does not have the built-in flash, I highly recommend to carry this little flash, in any case something more than those on camera does, also the camera without the flash "his" is more agile, more robust (what is not there, does not break) and better waterproofed.

nikon_50_f1-4gNikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4 G

Pros: Makes beautiful photos

Cons: I don't know

Opinion: The objectives must be judged by the images, in which their weight is as important as that of the body, photographer and editing! If the defect is correctable (contrast, microcontrast, etc., etc.), it is not a defect! The 50 f1.4 G, therefore has very few, to say none, defects (like the vast majority of today's "serious" goals). I like it and I think its contribution to the final image is very positive. I love the bright fixtures, they have another gear, they are recognized by the images, beyond the sharpness, which on the other hand, in the field in focus is always remarkable. Thank you for your patience for reading me!

nikon_85_f1-4gNikon AF-S 85mm f/1.4 G

Pros: Almost everything

Cons: "Ridiculous" lampshade for lens class

Opinion: She takes beautiful photos! If it's soft sometimes, there's Photoshop! It's very sharp, it's tridimentional, it manages to make even insignificant subjects look beautiful. I made no comparisons, I am very satisfied (in analogue I used Hasselblad and Leiz to telemeter!). She will never be responsible for a bad photo, but it can help make her beautiful! I forgot: it has dimensions still "human" that allow you to carry it behind, unlike the other "telini" f 1.4.

nikon_afs28_f1-4Nikon AF-S 28mm f/1.4 E ED

Pros: Look at photos taken at 1.4 or 2, then judge without blinkers! I don't know another 28 mm f 1.4, but that's enough for me.

Cons: High price, but in my opinion it's worth every penny!

Opinion: With 50 mm f1.4 and 85 mm f 1.4 forms a triad that changes the photos you will take, in a decidedly "visible" way. Absolutely justified the discomfort of the weight and replacement of the lens. The only alternative is ...... a zoom all-rounder. I always speak within the Nikon system, but this triad does not disfigure even among the Leica M, at least in the digital world (the color of Leica on the slides is unapproachable!).
