Pros: I write today in September 2023 quickly some of my impressions, we are talking about a machine in some respects among the TOP of the range in 2002, with APS-C sensor 23.5 x 15.7 mm from 6.1 Mp called SUPERCCD (which according to the technical notes of the time allowed to have a "yield" equal to a 12.34 Mp sensor). Even today, despite my use of NIKON FF, CANON mirrorless APS-C and PENTAX K5 SLRs I can say (after a series of tests and verifications) that this camera body, in conditions of full light, solar or indoor generates TIF images of about 30 Mb each completely surprising, even after more than 20 years in combination with a modest ZOOM Nikkor AF G 28 / 80 3.3-5.6. Load here a shot taken on the fly this morning freehand 1/90 sec. f.4.8 ISO 160, as it is without any postproduction (it is detected, among other things, the need to clean the sensor (some grains of dust are detected). Then: Construction of the control camera body etc. (actually on a NIKON F80 base) very solid with materials of the highest quality and practical stability and also aesthetic and, ergonomic handle with various controls essentially functional after a first confidence, Aesthetically still very nice device despite the important dimensions, NIKON F lens mount, Presence of connector for external power supply 5 V DC (this power supply can be supplied or with the original power supply or through any power supply for mobile phones with USB socket and 5 V DC output voltage using a male USB cable and 4 x 10 mm round jack. central hole 2.1 mm.; Shutter button with threads for shooting with flexible, integrated flash still definable precise and functional,

Cons: Always taking into account that we are talking today about a device of more than 20 years, I report three limitations that in my opinion are very evident, although very manageable once you understand: 1) annoying the need to use two battery slots, a lower shoe for 4 AA alkaline batteries (stylus) + a slot in the machine body for 2 CR123A lithium batteries, detecting a relative duration of the set of 4 AA, 2) presence of two memory card slots: SMART MEDIA or Compact Flash type II, which allow in both cases the use of types of cards that have become obsolete today and can be purchased basically only on the second-hand market at not very low prices. I also detected several compatibility problems between the various brands of compact Flash cards type II, at the moment the body works very well with a CF Sandisk type II 2 Mb. The speed of the storage process in TIF format is almost embarrassing, we are talking about 20/40 seconds per shot, but at the moment I still can not say if it depends on the firmware or the native speed of the card. as I am now doing tests as I select the various types of CF. I also entered some SMART MEDIA but I'm not even talking about it. 3) some problem for shots in low light conditions, the sensor immediately shows the rope, on the other hand the native sensitivity is adjustable in the small range between 100 and 1600 ISO. I also struggled a bit for some adjustments and/or pairings with a Tamron mount NIKON F lens (which did not work perfectly at the focusing system level, despite the presence of CPU). In case of low voltage AA batteries the machine seems to work but goes into alarm and does not record on CARD despite the flashing of the LED. Without instruction booklet it struggles a little ....... But the same is actually easily downloadable for free from the network.

Opinion: Once understood and studied, you certainly detect a particular machine, I dare say historical, you fall in love. I do not detect other particularly limiting features compared to current standards for the purpose of occasional and amateur use, so the machine is basically pleasant and usable even for every day by an amateur photographer curious about yields with colors that tend to reproduce atmospheres similar to 35 mm film on the basis of a SUPER CCD sensor certainly particular compared to many other APS-C sensors of the time. I am unable to provide any additional information about the output files at this time. Used in good condition (body only) is currently on 150/180 euros perhaps even less in the case of very exploited specimens.

Pros: Stratospheric image quality also (especially) with the current canons.

Cons: Everything he doesn't have to do with IQ. It is a machine designed 25-30 years ago!!!

Opinion: I recently "resumed" old files made then (in about 2004) and, for various needs, I joined them to those of Nikon D800E, D850 and Hasselblad X1D II. On A3 prints, A3+ come out magnificent photos, the resolution gap is not as evident as you might think, the images are much more pleasant than those obtained with nikon, they approach the Hassy, which, however, is a story in itself as image quality!

Pros: Good picture quality, reliable, very large optical park.

Cons: Dual power supply, no exposure meter with CPU-free optics, approximate white balance.

Opinion: My first digital, paid 1700€ in 2003, is basically an F80 equipped with a sensor. Coming from analog, I never cared about the tiny monitor, never used, or the high sensitivity hold, it is still superior to that of any film, some problems at first with raw development software, which did not digest RAF Fuji well. Despite only 6 Mpx, real, it allows prints of excellent quality up to about 40x25.

Pros: QUALITY IMAGES STUPENDA for both portraits and landscapes

Cons: For age no one, maybe a little slowness but it is understandable, it is 2002

Opinion: I bought this reflex used for a while, there are not many requests although not many know that uses a super CCD that for portrait photos and landscape are amazing results even today. I don't care if the screen is from 1.8" I use it to 100 ISO for landscape photos and portraits at 400 ISO and if it is the case use Flash external SB-600 and SB-800 and you get amazing photos. In order not to use the CR123 batteries (it requires 2 to operate over 4 stylus) I inserted a battery grip for Nikon F80 limated on the sides with thin glass paper to be able to fit and with a small weld on the contacts of the battery grip inserting two clothespins to Being able to make contacts with internal machine body avoided the CR123 batteries and in this way I use 4 batteries 1.2 volts rechargeable in the battery plus another 4 batteries 1.2 voltres rechargeable for the reflex. In this way the range has increased dramatically (rechargeable batteries are ENELOOP).

Pros: Beautiful, sturdy, economical

Cons: Antiquated, does not have what it takes you tutto.ma

Opinion: A workhorse, I have three cameras, d300 and 800mA with a 50/40 a few times and 1.8 micro shutter having fun. Every now and then I use a 400 / 5.6 x stalking with birdlife. Fine. Used very little paid. Great soddisfazioni.è definitely surpassed by machines today, but not in raw has good results, wedding photographers such as exceptional. To use every day
