Canon 5D Pros: Color rendering, Affordable price for a true full frame, Professional constructive feeling Cons: Insufficient resolution for high crops, AF limited to the center point only, Rear LCD screen not very resolved, Ridiculous operating speed Opinion: Reviewing a reflex camera from over twenty years ago in 2026 is not a nostalgia operation, but a conscious choice. In an era of infinite burst shots and immeasurable resolutions, the first 5D stands as the definitive tool for those looking for slow photography. Despite its age, Canon ergonomics of the time remains a benchmark. It's a solid, no-frills machine that you can grip with confidence. There is no Live View, there is no video: there is only the optical viewfinder, wide and bright, (someone said that it is one of the best built by Canon, I honestly would not be able to evaluate it accurately) that connects you directly with the scene. It is an invitation to take your eyes off the screen and go back to looking at the world through glass. The heart of the 5D is its full-frame sensor. In 2026, its 12.8 megapixels might seem few, but they are "generous" pixels, like liter mugs when compared to today's small glasses, but the technology that manages them does not allow you to get miracles out of them, it requires a lot of precision in exposure and a careful choice of the scene shot. If exposed correctly, the 5D gives spectacular files. Up to ISO 1600 the grain is fine, organic, almost film-like, very different from the clinical digital noise of modern cameras. This camera educates you. With this resolution, cropping is not contemplated. The photo must be composed in the viewfinder: what you see is what you will get. It is a discipline that turns every shot into a deliberate act. There's no point in beating around the bush: 5D is slow by today's standards, but it's a slowness that pays off. Forget eye tracking, here the only way is to rely exclusively on the central point. You focus, recompose and shoot. It is a method that requires precision and knowledge of your equipment. It gives its best with prime lenses, for example mounting a 35mm or a 50mm means enhancing the three-dimensionality typical of this sensor, which seems to handle blurred transitions (bokeh) with a softness that many modern sensors that are too dense have lost. Why choose it today? The Canon 5D Classic is for the photographer who is not in a hurry. It is for those who want to rediscover the pleasure of waiting for the right moment, knowing that when the shutter goes off, the RAW file (or even the direct JPEG) will have a unique plasticity and color depth. p.s.: regarding the small rear LCD screen, I recently saw a video review that explained how setting clarity to maximum (which in any case acts only on a hypothetical jpeg without affecting in any way the RAW obtained) helps to understand if the focus is correct even on this ridiculous LCD. Although honestly I have always prayed not to have taken too fast shots, and to have been careful at least a little, otherwise the photo will have to be trashed. Unfortunately it does not digest the rush well I exhumed it after several years in which I worked with fuji, and immediately, coupled with the old 17-40L it made me cry, if I think of the good old days when it accompanied me with the 24mm, which is why I returned, buying a modern mirrorless hoping to be able to relive the emotions of the past, with the help of new technologies, which have certainly filled the gaps of 2005. 21 years and not feel them, in my humble opinion, if you use your head. 150 euros, I say no more sent on 07 Febbraio 2026 |

Fujifilm X-PRO1 Pros: light weight, price in used, look, white balance, compatibility with many optical vintage through adapter, optical viewfinder, grain, detail at low ISO, shutter sound Cons: Operating slow, slow AF, technology, high ISO Opinion: I would not recommend it so lightly, has several cons that may be away from fuji world unless you are a little prepared. rnUn bit like advising in 2016 the Canon EOS 5DmkI: I wouldnt whole life, has a great price / quality ratio, but you have to have very clear what you want from a camera. The MAF is sooo slow, the operating speed unnerving, in saving photos it takes about 5-6secondi, the electronic viewfinder is archaic, to get nice pictures have to really commit. rnIl files like a hair more than the XPRO2, but sin in high ISO and in large prints certainly does not shine. But from his works well with vintage optic or with the first Fujinon outputs for X-series, the 35 / 1.4 is incredibly slow but at the same magical time of X-Trans1 rnSe feel ready for a jump in the "past" is a photographically speaking bell exercise to do, predict the action, speed of cognitive processing, reaction, things that the machine does not provide and which you can not count come instead the latest releases help thanks to their mega ultra fast processors. rnIl optical viewfinder I used it for a few months as an assistant from the viewfinder to the mirrorless world, but then once given the enormous utility dell'EVF I abandoned. Nice to you but of little use. rnCosa that of PRO2 they have greatly implemented. rnPer 2-300 € is an excellent investment even to keep single lens (35mm or 18mm) the street or reports in general is his death. rnL'ho used a lot and I keep still, it is to understand. I think not everyone could understand, everything is in the approach you have with her, used to take pictures, not to solve your weaknesses sent on 12 Settembre 2016 |

Fujifilm XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR Pros: tropicalization, focus, brightness, building, size Cons: weight, price, manual focus, size Opinion: I am writing this review a few days of its purchase, basically because I had to make sure everything went for meglio.rnHo took this objective without thinking so much as for the new emerging systems ML was the only candidate to replace (both the focal for brightness) my honored 24L mkII.rnrnLe size I included both pro and con because analyzing various factors, and depending on what you may be looking for an advantage or a flaw, for me is a PRO for the fact that coming from a kit professional Canon weight is less so as the ingombri.rnPuo be a counter if you're trying to build a kit minimalistic compatto.rnrnIl feeling with the focal it was love, but I'm biased since I took for years only with 24mm and so it was a return to the roots, after three months from the sale of the kit Canon, I missed a wide-angle X100S although I have never done anything to miss. When you are used to calculate the scene from a particular point of view it is difficult to learn usefulzzare other focal lengths especially if more lunghe.rnrnNel my last report in Texas with the few exits 5D and 24 have been really stressful because of the dimensions that nn always allowed me to move in peace and serenity, more reason to push me without remorse to have a lighter and more basso.rnrnLo blurred the profile is not as heavily on FF and not as graduale.rnrnI colors are in line with other great Fujinon, and with them keeping the backlight is really high. rnrnCorrezioni aberration and distortion several very he decided, a mold a little chilly compared optics a little more dated, but according to my taste just as fascinating to use reportage and not artistico.rnrnIl bokeh is very much beyond my aspettative.rnrnLa file quality is excellent I noticed that only for people with distances over 5-10mt sharpness degrades and do not see it ideal for landscape photography, but I also noticed in the x100 and I would not be due to software demosaicing. Per everything else exaggerated performance in line with the neo optic professionali.rnrnUnico manual focus, drive-by-wire as the other, being used to the big glass canon was a big blow to cuore.rnSpero images can speak better to My place. sent on 20 Maggio 2015 |

Fujifilm XF 35mm f/1.4 R Pros: optical quality, corrections, brightness, weight Cons: price, construction, lens hoods and caps Opinion: I bought this lens kit with an X-PRO1 used, say that I was obliged as I was constantly directed to take it with a zoom (18-55) .rnHo sold the Canon 50L and I found myself with a focal length that I did not particularly so I immediately approached skeptical and not very entusiasta.rnDopo the first few uses, mostly "academic" with homemade test comparing it with the 50 / 1.4 that I had on FF, I learned to love thanks to its potential for excellent sharpness and contrast even in difficult conditions of use (backlight, dark etc.) RNLA yield is always perfect, never a problem especially for someone like me who has never managed andomare the f1.2 on fullframe and with this rather err is almost inpossibile.rnLo sfpcato not I can evaluate because my taste is questionable, but I love that bokeh halfway between the vintage and the prissy moderno.rnNulla to do with the sfocatone of 50L but maybe getting older I learned to appreciate the role of the background in a portrait :) rnrnIl weight, from a professional outfit fullframe,is the first thing that you appreciate using optics designed for the APSC, and metal construction (which I do not particularly striking) does not affect the feeling of lightness that is gripping it also has a mano.rnrnLe corrections of various aberrations are good moltp and green / purple 50one are just old memories. The resistance to flare and so is undoubtedly great, even in strong backlight gave me file always legible and contrasted. (You can see in my galleries few portraits) rnrnIl hood is very charming, with its retro look, but I lost only two weeks after the rubber stopper that served as rnrnNon ... I would never have bought it new at that price stellar, but Now I use it every day I think is a lens that you must have to force kit fuji! I use it mainly for portraiture because the street prefer the x100, but also in using landscaping / reportage says quietly her, really a must-have. sent on 26 Febbraio 2015 |

Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 L II USM Pros: aperture, weather sealing, construction, speed AF, corrections Cons: price, weight Opinion: Maybe now that I sold it is time to leave a review as it should be for the lens that has heavily influenced my way of photographing and taught to get more in the scene (both psychologically and physically) rnL'ho purchased without absolutely no idea what I was getting, a wide angle, ok, with 17-4 shot it mostly to those focal and its luminosity that would allow me to use more low ISO during my reportage.rnDopo a slow start, in which I did not understand these hidden potentials, he upset the lives in USA 2012 (invite the curious to this lens to give a look to my gallery to get an idea of ??what you can do with a wide angle outside the landscape) rnStacco plans light but this , exaggerated performance already at full aperture and three-dimensional exaggerated even more diaphragms chiusi.rnCostruzione tropicalization excellent and they made it come right in equipment for situations critiche.rnPeso a bit too much for my taste and take it for a walk is not the What is most fun Isprerimentato in recent years, but after all the quality and performance are not gratuite.rnIn line price, for a lens professionale.rnrnL'ho sold reluctantly, and Coucillor forever as THE lens for reportage and cityscape. sent on 18 Febbraio 2015 |

Fujifilm X100s Pros: portability, design, quality jpeg and RAW, white balance, natural colors, high ISO, low noise, high-speed flash sync, equivalent focal length is ideal as all-round, low-profile Cons: Price, optical non-interchangeable lens brightness, battery life Opinion: this is my first review and I did it just to feel very positive that left me even after very little use! rnL'ho bought some on a whim a while to get a machine that would allow me to shoot in unsafe environments or where the view of the reflex could be counterproductive to the success of the shot. I make several trips in order to photograph and son happened several times in peripheral ghettos of major American cities where the personal safety comes first and I had to hold the camera in your backpack to have no problems with the locals (eg Willis and Torrence in Los Angeles, or the outskirts of Atlanta) RNLA portability, or nascondibilità, was one of the primary points of the new purchase, its retro look also helps to not give too much attention. The dimensions are honest and fits easily in a jacket pocket thanks to the tiny ottica.rnIn a negative point I pointed out the low light of the small 23mm (f2), but guarantees diminutive size so it's a compromise from accettare.rnLa scelta not to adopt a system for optical intercambibili was not superimpose my current kit, but to support him, even in this case I reported as "AGAINST" but it was voluto.rnLa battery life is critical only if the maximum ability of comfort in the room (EVF, various information, speed performance, display postscatto) I currently only use the optical viewfinder, which is wonderful, and I turn off the machine manually after each shot because the auto power off keeps active for well 2min !!! Consumed small series batteries in less than a day if you shoot RAW parecchio.rnLa quality of baked is amazing to be a APSC, I was used to the old Canon 50D outdated, the automatic white balance reminds me of my high performance ex1DmarkIII , really professionale.rnLa operating speed is still high although to store photos takes a few seconds too long, but during which you can do everything (shoot, change settings, etc.) RNLA noise & egravand; example, no one even notices the near operato.rnLa your flash sync at 1/4000 comes with the shutter built into the lens, I invite you to take portraits outside coaudiuvati from unbel flash with the times ridiculous! rnAll'apertura maximum of f2 l 'Shutter works at a maximum of 1 / 1000sec but thanks to a built-in optical ND filter to three stops you can take in even well luminosi.rnIl range of ISO 200 to 6400 using the RAW file but for my use are great values and the noise occurs only in 6400.rnPotrei continue to write positives throughout the day, after each session I learn more and more extensive use, such as continuous AF, the burst, the row of exposures, auto-pan, and many other very divertenti.rnnon wait to make my first trip to put it under pressure, the prints I already tested 40x35cm and 3200ISO to f2 and file entusiasmanti.rnecc etc. :) sent on 17 Gennaio 2014 |
