![]() | Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM Pros: SEL85F14GM, Dreamy Portrait: Nitido - Bokeh - build quality top Cons: Some uncertainty about the AF (then I'll explain well) and TA is less engraved but turns to closed diaphragms Opinion: For better or worse, this Sony home lens makes a lot of talk about itself. I read all the written reviews, the various youtube videos and they all give completely different opinions about this product. But is this lens so strange? Okay, now I'm going to write something down on this lens. I would say that (with many doubts) I took this lens a year ago replacing my beloved 100 STF G Master, the best lens for portraits and not sony house, if they had not inserted the apodizing filter at this hour was still with me. After a year with over 5000 photos with my ML sony, I would like to express a personal opinion on this wonder/lens bin. On the quality of construction is not discussed, it is in line with GM line-up, I like a lot the diaphragm diaphragm dial, the custom button and its solidity of construction. Stabilizer absent, but the sony sensor does the dirty work (ndp). On the performance here there is to write a poem by Dante Alighieri, but I limit myself in a simple way to write as the facts are. This lens is a bit like Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde and let's see why. The autofocus of the lens must be analyzed in two respects: on first and second generation cameras the focus will go to the ball (on the second generation a little less). But surprisingly it becomes a lens with better performance af from the a9 onwards, indeed, it completely transforms species on the A9 where it resets all those defects related to the old SSM engine making it performing especially in The Continuous. Many say that it makes a of noise while it focuses, for me it is not a problem. The various distortion and vignette defects are correctable quietly in post-production, Even the chromatic aberrations are present in small quantities but are corrected (from f2.8 the problem disappears). Good flare resistance but not at top levels. Okay I wrote you the flaws or not of this lens, but how is the sharpness? Chapter long but I'll just know it in a simple way: Less engraved to excellent TA from f2 onwards. Up to f16. At F1.4 it's a bit soft as resolution but it's valid. In some situations I noticed a blur effect on subject that I took, it shows up at TA but does not always appear. A warning to purists of extreme resolution: for those looking for more resolution at full opening this lens will discard it immediately (probably), bringing either on the Batis, Sigma or other brands. Personally the sharpness in my photographic context is an important thing, but not fundamental so there is a bit of softness (then they are tastes) although I work very often both at full opening and from f2 onwards, and there that this lens gives the best of itself and reaches levels d i excellent yield at f8. On the bokeh here wins without overdoing, soft and fairy-tale and the chromatic rendering is very suggestive. I must admit that this lens is a bit peculiar, and it goes a little bit because you will have to work hard to know its full potential, but I assure you that even if the price is high (now a little less) when admiring the beauty of the image and the pleasantness of using or, do you realize that the money invested is worth everything to what it offers... sent on September 19, 2019 |
![]() | Sony A7r II Pros: Sony a7RII, the top of the top: Resolution, features, autofocus, the first backlit FF, Color old mold... Cons: Well, apart from the batteries, ISO, and af, the real cons are the cryptic menus and the buffering of writing on the cards... Then the rest doesn't matter Opinion: Everything was said, but just everything about this camera. A Machine that I looked for, wanted, and in the end I have it with me since March 2017. After a first approach in the world Full Frame, mirrorless and Sony (owning for four and a half months the a7SII and a year a reflex canon), I definitely step into this world thanks to this camera taking advantage of what not only my way of doing photography (which always comes before the equipment) but also for what the camera offers the photographer its true technological and visual potential. I must admit that I found my death with both the a7RII and the a9 the following year. But what struck me about this camera? The resolution. It must be said that I know very well the whole R series of the alpha 7, in 2016 I took the R mk1, but I immediately sold it because of a yield not up to expectations due to the presence of the filter passes optical bass. But with the R2 I discovered an immediate felling, establishing a close bond between me and the camera. The yield is better than the first, and amazing, for me, higher than the R3. You can see the crunchiness of the 42 mpx already at a glance, which with the R3, there is but slightly lower than the younger sister. Despite owning the a9, the machine from the best af in the world to the same/or higher than the D5 and 1DXII, the autofocus of the R2 I appreciate it much more for what it can do. Ok every now and then some slight uncertainty in some situations of different lights does, but thanks also to the new sony optics with the XD Stepper Motor (always SSM) and also those that are coming out (in addition to the batis and art of the sigma), in addition to the fact that this is the first ff retro illuminate af is accurate and accurate. On the ISO estate I do not unbalance much, it is true that already the noise is visible at 3200, but it is compensated very well, which can be snapped even at ISO 6400 and only in exceptional cases at 10000 iso (max limit) and paradoxically, the ISO seal is better this than version 3. Does anyone say the sonys have a bad color? well it depends, I personally like me (don't ask me how structured the color of the R2 is that I have not understood anything yet). I find beautiful features or apps on the machine like the rangemeter (although I never use them). Beyond the usual aspects that have been said on this camera, the defects are never lacking, apart from the various limits of the batteries that burn in an AMEN! (well I have 3 and I just need it), of the ISO estate, better than the R1 but we are still far from the new models (e.g. a7III), some limitations of the af that is there but nothing alarming. But the real cons of this machine are the somewhat complicated menus (better to set the machine in English) and the limit of buffering writing on the cards. This is a serious problem because it takes longer to subscribe to files, especially on gusts of 5fps with the risk of losing photos especially if taken on non-performing SD cards or pieces. Always pay attention to the boards and the machine. But then for the rest little matters, because if you appreciate everything it has to offer and accept its flaws, you ask me if it makes sense to buy this machine in 2019? I answer YES. Personally after the a9, the a7RII is the best camera ever made by SONY, best ever of the 5ds and 5dsr and other brands that have a resolution of more than 30/40 mpx. It could be the true maturity of the system itself because here they had to insert a more durable battery, a more efficient af (although on this machine is great and even more) and an extra board, as well as in the presence of a joystick. OK that's too much what I wrote, I know. But said by a fool like me, this camera I love her much more than the R3, that despite the improvements introduced in the third body, will never have the character of the younger sister... ![]() | Sony A9 Pros: The (almost) absolute perfection Cons: Hard to say. I could say the price but it is certainly not the real cons of this top of the line. Opinion: Well, gentlemen, here is perfection (or almost). But to my humble opinion is the best camera Sony and all other machines of various brands (Canon and Nikon in Primis) available at this time. This wonderful flagship I have from June 2018 alongside the adored Sony a7RII (great camera for resolution and not only). But this machine beats all the competition (Sony in Primis). Wonderful file quality, at R2 levels but with a higher level in the cleanest yield and the colors are more accentuated (many do not appreciate the color of Sony, but personally, I like). The auto focus is simply the best and offers the best of the best on responsiveness thanks to the full frame layered sensor (staked) perfectly follows the subject, calculating it 60 times per second, and soon will come a new filmware that from a touch of life to this Machine by introducing REAL TIME AF TRACKING and EYE AF TRACKING, as well as an improvement on white balance. This camera, is a perfect combination between the quality and responsiveness of the AF that from here on, Sony will point to the next line-up. Not to mention ergonomics and utility, large and durable battery, improved ergonomics, joystick, AF and burst rings, Touch only for auto focus, both in video and photo (if the touch were like the Canon, which also makes the shot). Technically I do not add anything else, that now we already know how the camera, perfect in all situations, even in the landscape behaves well, but it goes strong in sports photographs, Reportage, Street, Wedding, and more. Personally I can't find a flaw that makes me think and say: It's a perfect machine!!! Maybe a bit the AF, in some contexts (but not always happens) does not engage completely. But then for the rest, who needs to work in a perfect way, is the perfect machine for professionals, even for advanced amateurs like me... UPDATE: The 5.0 firmware makes the autofocus UNERRING, nothing escapes (not even the eyes). Great white balance but still can be improved, but for me it is the top. sent on November 16, 2018 |
![]() | Sony Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA Pros: The Lord of Light: Sharp, luminous, three-dimensionality and very soft bokeh. Cons: It is Not the weight of the problem, but the aberrations (chromatic and not) is the true defect of the Distagon Opinion: I owned it for almost a year, and I have to be honest, it was my favorite lens after the 24-70GM. Exceptional Construction of metal, with the aperture ring that I like a lot, especially in video. On the construction of the lens, while not finding the gasket on the mount of the bayonet, defends well against the weather and dust, and surprise (not to do ABSOLUTELY!) with the sea water, but there is the sea to make us two bathrooms with my a7RII and the lens Zeiss. However it holds very well on tropicalization. Performance is great, in line with Sony lenses, Af performing (perfect for video and photos), excellent sharpness, but at f1.4 is very soft (almost ideal for half-bust portraits or close ups), the detail, from f2.8 onwards is outstanding, up to F11. Unfortunately the flaws are visible at sight, not so much distortion, but the vignetting is present in an almost intrusive (from F 2.8 improves) Chromatic aberration, is the true weak link of the Zeiss, to correct the disturbance also serves the help of programs Post Production (NB: Activating the objective compensation, the defect is less, but there) also the flare are visible, pleasing the star effect that produces at closed diaphragms. But the bokeh and the three-dimensionality, do an outstanding job. The bokeh is very soft, perfect for creating artistic closeups, and the micro contrast is typical of the Zeiss lenses... Conclusion? For video and photos this lens is perfect. It costs a bit, but you do great things... sent on October 27, 2018 |
![]() | Sony A7r III Pros: Everything on a7r2 had not: 10 fps-improved Touch-ISO-skintone great-same sensor but with improvements-joystick-enhanced video Mode-Af more responsive-Interesting 4 k HDR-pixel shift and much more Cons: Even if I found some flaws. I accept it always as cost aside, I could not find anything against it, perhaps the lack of apps, the ones you. Opinion: For now this machine I tried it for 2 twice in two Sony Day. and for two times I said to myself: this machine should I take. The features and enhancements that offers the a7r3, are greater than its predecessor (which still remains a great car, and still has much to give). The sensor is the same as the R2, but that has improved a lot, not only for the quality. What I found is the improved skin tone right away, much better on the r3 on r2, also the reactivity of af is phenomenal, especially eye af is frightening (something also seen in a7III) on r2 remains excellent, but here, we are at the higher level, and not only that the c sensor coverage is of over 60% against 45% of r2. I tried the machine with native lenses sony, primarily Sel85f14GM, gentlemen, CHAPAU ... I could write the same stuff as they say and repeat testers or enthusiasts, but beyond that, has improved a lot the Syncro. I find it very interesting the function of 4 k HDR in video mode, but that is about to be tested, as it is to test the Pixel shift. Aspect against that I have found, perhaps that of the app, is the biggest absence (seen in a9), but I think sony needs to resolve this situation, at least by inserting an intervalometer for timelapse. There is still a lot to be said about this machine, and will soon be my new roommate adventure final. ... sent on April 15, 2018 |
![]() | Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Pros: SONY'S TOP (CONSTRUCTION - YIELD - AF AND BOKEH) Cons: FLARE and PRICE (but not prohibited) Opinion: Does the question still make sense to buy this lens? For me, YES! I owned it for two years (2017-2019), sold it to replace this lens with a Sony 50mm, a nonsensical move and here I took it back but without fainting too much together with the Sony a7RIII. An exceptional lens both in its construction and in its performance. The first 24-70GM I owned was resolute but in some cases it was poorly engraved (especially at f2.8) This I find very engraved even at full opening from 24 to 70. The focus engine, despite being an SSM, works very well. Even in continuous af continuo. The Bokeh is very soft and the color is very natural with well balanced contrast. With the sony a7RIII the use for Street photography, portraits, landscape and reportage.. Personally it is a lens that deserves to be bought, although the competition is very ruthless especially with tamron and Sigma. Although many are waiting for a version 2 of the next 24-70, I don't like to give the votes but personally deserves a 9.5 Brava SONY sent on October 16, 2017 |
![]() | Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS Pros: Sharpness - Precision - Zoom - Bokeh - and much more, and I love to die for it Cons: Nothing (not even the price) Opinion: I've taken it from just a few days, and it's simply the best mirror tones for sony. Accurate, stabilized, solid, and wonderfully sharp. The bokeh is of unique authenticity (like all sony G Master optics). If you want, you can fit a converter, made for this optic (there are 2: one is 1.4x and the other 2x), so you save a possible 100-400mm of the G Master. The "no" cost is prohibitive when compared to when it was launched but who has a Sony A7RII, after the wonderful 24-70mm of the G Master, this is to be done absolutely, not because of its versatility but also for the Its precious composition worthy of 70-200mm. sent on June 26, 2017 |
![]() | Sony A7s II Pros: Full Frame extraordinary - 12.2 Mp quality - Suitable for both photographs, but goes great with Video - High ISO points - 4k and interesting slowmotion Cons: Expensive (even if € 3,300 is not a price affordable for everyone) - the Rec button is a bit uncomfortable - But the AF of mirrorless is its Achilles heel. Opinion: I confess that the passion for photography, there have always, but the first SLR, the Canon EOS 700d, I took early 2016, after which, for over 7 years, I have used only compact and bridge. From 1 November, I went with some doubt, the Sony A7SII, but after a while, playing carefully, I think I guessed this gem. I admit that I used it more as a camera, which as a "camera" (excuse the word). But it is extraordinary in everything. What I often hear read, in various forums, it is that this machine, as it is beautiful but also damn expensive, is a machine that has some flaws: not so much in the batteries (just take a vertical grip that makes you take the car twice of normal). The autofocus is a bit slow (maybe that is the real problem) especially when I have to draw an object / person closely. But when I switch to manual mode, all right. On Video I do not feel to expressthat much, because by the time I use it as a camera, it should work fine. rnPer the moment I limit myself only to 1080p 50fps, then playing it well, much more will find out. I would not make a judgment by a professional photographer, but as possessor of A7SII, is a machine with infinite potential, I've read many articles or posts on alpha, they have praised abroad, in Italy (unfortunately, critical as ever ) is somewhat underestimated. But I can confirm that having a car like this, you can not help it. It 'a machine that not everyone can afford it, but I think the A7SII is extraordinary (not as much as the A7RII, but the baby is tough) ... sent on March 09, 2017 |
![]() | Samyang FE 50mm f/1.4 AF AS IF UMC Pros: Crisp - Bright - interesting Cromature - affordable price Cons: At times, the f (The species af-c) is not very fast - Slightly Noisy, but I okay Opinion: Originally I wanted to take the optical Sony Zeiss Planar T * 50mm /f1.4. But it costs much more. So I at the Samyang 50mm f1.4 for my Sony Alpha A7SII. I 'amazing perspective, I use a little for everything (especially in street art photography, I do not know if I have written well). The lens quality is impressive, it's not like the zeiss sony, however, the Samyang, is not a view that is just beautiful to see. Everything works great. Perhaps the only fault, it is the autofocus, especially in AF-C, is a slow pelino. But it is the noise of the optical engine is a bit noisy (something when register, is felt), but that's okay. I highly recommend it. Rate 9 sent on February 23, 2017 |
