The 12mpx are a virtue for both 1080p and 4k videos (unfortunately only 30fps, I'm a fan of 30fps much more cinematic but if you play with slow motion it's better to work at 60fps +) but also for photos with high iso, certainly it doesn't crop like the A7RII which is like having two lenses but it wasn't born for this. Given the price, the critical issues are easily bypassed, of course when it cost 3k they were felt (battery, 4k only 30fps, 8bit...), the closest choice in my opinion is the A7III which is better in almost everything and that if it had had 10bit for videos it would have torn it up, which is not true, so the A7S II, in my opinion, it is still a valid choice in 2025 and still allows us to bring home amazing results today

I use it with 27 2, 18 and 45 samyang plus 70 180 tamron and I am fine. Convenient ibis for video photos with the Cage, for the rest with gimbal and slider is not needed. Cool slow-motion that always remains detailed even if cropped 2.2x and fhd. Af side is not a splinter but it is always valid, especially in the dark. Poor battery, but just take a little' stock maybe of competition that cost little. Menu messed up but still usable. Socket for 700 euros used has no defects, for the rest there are machines from 3000 euros that are better.... But do we really need 4k at 50 fps? Or machine gun volleys? It's only 12, but they really give you a lot. Almost all my photos are chrome, some even in a heavy way and yet the file comes out winning. The hold at high ISO is very good and the dynamic range is really remarkable. Compared to series 1, ergonomics has improved and now the shutter button is finally where it should be. The stabilizer does its job. For my photigraphic genre it is a great machine and the af also satisfies me. I have noticed that, although I also own the A7rII, and without wanting to make comparisons, I must admit that I have a feeling and a lanking understanding with this A7sII that with the A7rII. Leather chesrione! In short, if you have used at least once the A7s then in this you will find everything that was good in the previous series plus some improvements not egregious. A little bit everything works better than before but not exaggeratedly. Recommended.
