olympus_50-200swdOlympus Zuiko Digital ED 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 SWD

Pros: Quick autofocus, great sharpness and brightness, tropicalized, compact.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: To this day, with almost 10 years on my shoulders, my 50-200 swd works like the first day. Excellent lens in every circumstance that I use together with the "old" flagship e5 and together offer a really good result. With micro I do not know, I had used it on the em1 first version but it was slower than on the e5 so I left it to the native system.

olympus_e5Olympus E-5

Pros: Massive, durable, excellent build quality, image quality

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: I have been using it for almost 10 years now and it never disappoints me, here you can see a comparison with the Em5 2 : https://www.fotografodigitale.org/2019/10/olympus-e-5-vs-olympus-e-m5-mark-2-test.html?m=1 I still find it today a wonderful camera for the images that and, not least, after 10 years it has not yet given me any problems. For those born with mirrorless this machine and their lenses may look pachydermi but I assure that the quality pays off. I'm just sorry that it received 3 firmware updates and then it was abandoned, it deserved something more in that regard.

olympus_om1Olympus OM-1

Pros: Size compared to the reflexes of the time, simplicity and robustness.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: I have a 1978 om1 that I have been using for 25 years together with three Zuiko optics: 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4 and 100mm 2.8. I love this machine and even today, in 2019, I shoot at least 4 rolls of 36 poses a year, almost always in black and white but also something in color. I went digital in 2003 but I can't pull the plug, unfortunately I don't develop and I'm going to sell the equipment and use trusted labs. Every time they come home the prints are always an emotion.

olympus_12-100_f4proOlympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f/4.0 IS Pro

Pros: Focal length, build quality, optical quality.

Cons: It's an f4 but I don't see it as a real con since even 2.8 zooms often have to be closed to this diaphragm.

Opinion: I love it, the real everything do quality. I also have the 14-150II but there is an abyss for the final quality, and giving up those 100mm extra equivalentis is worth the candle. Weight and footprint are not a problem with the m1 II, with the m5 II or the younger sisters the weight is unbalanced forward and makes the shot uncomfortable. For those who take photos of landscapes is a boon double stabilization. For the interior f4 can go well knowing to expose properly and you can safely pull the shot under exposing by 1 stop and then recover it in post reducing the shooting time without exaggerating with the iso. I recommend it, if you then pair the Sigma 56 1.8 as a fixed for portraits and a 17 1.8 for darker interiors also travel light and ready for anything.

olympus_omd_em1_iiOlympus OM-D E-M1 II

Pros: Great grip, size, weight, build quality, image quality, improved high iso hold, excellent battery life, great continuous car focus

Cons: No one who is not just a subjective perception

Opinion: I'm a digital Olympus user since 4/3 with the e-1 and that I started with the micro from the first Pen. Over time I pulled up in kit made of bright fixtures and zoom pros in addition to having had the em5, the em1 first series, the em5 second series and now the em1 second series, this to say that I know what I talk about when I express myself on the Olympus also because over time I got to to also try several full frames without ever falling in love with the format though. The em1 mark 2 is perfect for those who learn to use it and for those who know how to manage the hold at the high iso of the sensor through a correct exposure of the scene, I say this because I read everything and more and then I wonder if people know how to photograph or not. Up to 3200 iso files are great if you know how to expose it properly, at 6400 the noise is there but it is well workable in post production. Personally I never needed to go beyond the 3200 iso in my life and space from weddings to sporting events as a type. Of course, I think it is logical that if you spend more than 1,000 euros on a machine in front of you put adequate lenses and not those of the kits otherwise it is useless to talk about it. Finally we are with the battery, before I always had at least 4 in my bag, today with 2 I'm in place and the second sometimes I don't even have to use it. The stabilizer is as always the best on the market, thanks to the smaller sensor definitely and with the canvases is a boon. The grip is finally worthy of the name and I do not find my little finger twirling in a vacuum. Even the continuous self focus has finally made that leap forward that had been expected for some time although of my work almost always on the single focus that is lightning. My dream remains the body of the e1 of the old 4/3 with inside the heart of this em1 2 for ergonomics and beauty but also so we are.
