panasonic_s1Panasonic S1

Pros: Ergonomics, stabilization, viewfinder, high ISO sealing, ease of use

Cons: Weight, battery life, tracking

Opinion: The best 24 Mpixel I've ever had and I've used a lot of them. The quality of the RAW is excellent and the sealing at high ISO is class-leading. The Dual ISO works wonders and you hardly find any noise in the images. The camera body is imposing, but it handles very well, dials and buttons are very complete and in the right place. The viewfinder is spectacular, large, with excellent visibility and a beautiful naturalness. The machine is fully customizable and can be configured to your taste. The high-resolution shot is excellent, it also manages some minimal movement and, which is very right, the camera comes out with a single RAW that only needs to be developed, no proprietary software, no combination of shots, a single raw of 86 Mpixel. A praise also to the jpegs that come out of the machine, they are very beautiful and quite customizable, we are not at the level of Fuji, but you can do a lot here too. Fast and very precise single autofocus, the tracking is sufficient for subjects that are not very fast. Clearly there are also cons, the battery does not last long compared to the characteristics and this suggests a very "energy-intensive" project with little optimization. The tracking, while sufficient for many situations, is slow and if it loses the subject, it suffers a lot in hanging up.

leica_sl2Leica SL2

Pros: Amazing viewfinder, image quality, top ergonomics, menu and key ring configuration

Cons: Fixed LCD, Footprint

Opinion: Image quality: The SL2 is equipped with a great 47.3 megapixel full-frame sensor, which offers sharp details and a great dynamic range. The images captured are rich in detail and have a vaguely analog look that makes it preferable to other models that are very similar on paper such as the Panasonic S1R. The grain, also present at medium ISO (3200) is not annoying and has no chromatic noises, easily eliminated in post and in any case never intrusive or annoying overmost. Sturdy Construction: The camera has an all-metal frame and a leather cover that ensures durability and strength, it truly looks like a tank. Plus, it's rated with an IP54-certified rating, making it weather-resistant. High-quality electronic viewfinder: The electronic viewfinder, one of the most beautiful I've ever had the opportunity to use, offers 100% coverage and a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. This makes the composition of the images precise and comfortable. Fast and accurate autofocus: The SL2 has 225 AF areas, allowing for fast and accurate focusing. Being only contrast, it is not ideal for fast-moving subjects or very dynamic situations, however, if used carefully it provides great satisfaction. Ergonomics and intuitive controls: this is a strong point that differentiates it from so much competition, the layout of the buttons and dials is very well studied, making it easy to access the main settings. The user interface is basic, but extremely intuitive and customizable in a very simple way. It is a machine that after a few hours of use, seems to have always known and this, in the current scenarios, is a point of excellence. Connectivity is modern and adequate: The SL2 is equipped with WiFi and a USB-C port that also allows charging without removing the battery. This allows for fast image transfer. The remote management via app is great, super easy app and also allows RAW transfer to your phone. This is a very nice treat, using Apple, I immediately transfer the raw to the phone and as soon as I get home, I find them nice and ready on the Mac. Sleek design: The combination of high-quality materials and minimalist design make the SL2 an aesthetically pleasing camera that is very pleasant to use. In summary, the Leica SL2 is an excellent choice for enthusiasts who are looking for a versatile, durable camera capable of producing high-quality images combined with great pleasure in use. Personally, I would have preferred a slightly smaller car, not so much, but a little smaller. This is because I often use it with the L-shaped plate, or if I go to places where I fear I can ruin it, I use a pad to protect it and with these accessories it becomes really "imposing"!

leica_q2Leica Q2

Pros: User experience. Amazing optics, stabilization, compactness, robustness.

Cons: The ferrules... Is it possible that you can't make less hard ferrules?

Opinion: The Q2 is a compact car with numerous strings to its bow. Image Quality: The Q2 offers a great high resolution and produces superb image quality. For me, it's particularly good at rendering colors naturally without any need for post-production in that sense. Remarkable Portability: Its compact size makes it ideal for landscape, street, and travel photographers, and users who want a camera that is easy to carry. Weather resistance: The Q2 has IP52 protection against dust and moisture, making it suitable for use in adverse conditions. Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH Lens: This lens offers great sharpness and a good aperture for low-light shots. Highly recommended to use TA where the Leica project emerges great, it is not the sharpness that makes the difference, that optic has other qualities to show. High-quality OLED viewfinder: While not top-of-the-class, the Q2's EVF offers a clear and detailed view even in low-light situations. However, it's important to note that the Leica Q2 is an expensive investment and may not be suitable for everyone. Its build quality and minimalist design are appreciated by many, but it may not be the best choice for those looking for advanced features like subject tracking or a built-in flash, all that glitters isn't gold. In summary, the Leica Q2 is a camera that combines excellent image quality with portability and weather resistance, making it an attractive choice for many photographers who are aware that it is a compact camera.

fujifilm_x_pro3Fujifilm X-PRO3

Pros: One camera to photograph, hybrid viewfinder, comprehensive functionality, impeccable construction

Cons: Little more than decent tracking, poor battery, rather large

Opinion: The X-PRO3 is a little gem. I was lucky enough to find the Duratect version which is really nice and gives an impression of impressive solidity. The hybrid viewfinder is a pleasure, alternating between EVF and optical viewfinder is very simple and allows a control of the composition in any light situation. With the 27mm it is perfect for the street even if the camera body is not really small for the format. The rings are a pleasure, strange choice not to make the front ring clickable, at its port you need to press the lever with which you vary the operation of the viewfinder, a convenient solution but you could do better. Slightly uncomfortable the wheel for choosing ISO, lifting the wheel crown and choosing the correct ISO is a rather slow, intelligent operation but it could be implemented better. Beautiful rear display that is well closed and protected from dust and other annoyances. The small rear display, even when the machine is off, shows the battery status and how many shots are available, alternatively you can put the color profile used. They have removed some keys compared to previous versions, but they are all placed in perfect position (I hate the play on the left!). The 26 Mpixel sensor is perfect in any situation and also allows you to tackle rather high ISO shots. The machine is configurable in every component and is done in a very simple way. The equipment is completed by the joystick and the Q button that allows you to select up to 16 functions on the fly. As for ergonomics, with small and light lenses the fact that it is almost flat is not a big problem, while with zooms, it is quite useful to add an external grip. Overall a very versatile and complete machine, but for certain choices made by the manufacturer, not suitable for everyone.

fujifilm_x100vFujifilm X100V

Pros: Small size, build quality, full keys, fantastic viewfinder, amazing lens

Cons: Price adequate to the quality offered, but on a rather high level, at least the protection to make the machine completely WR there was, shutter button

Opinion: It is the car to always carry with you, ideal travel companion (now I take only that if I go far). The build quality is remarkable, equal to the X-PRO series from which some important features derive. The viewfinder is an absolute pleasure, perfect hybrid, better than the X-PRO for obvious reasons of compactness of the lens. The lens in particular is very valid, better than the equivalent for X-Mount, a cleanliness, a very enjoyable blur to TA and a sharpness over the whole field that make it usable for many occasions. With the two additional ones and with the excellent additional macro produced by NiSi, it can face many situations with the utmost lightness and with the same quality of a body with interchangeable optics. The keys are arranged very well (I hate the play on the left side...). With the new app that finally does things right, it has become a complete and very versatile system. The display is tiltable, as it should be, the battery even if it is the small one, lasts a lot. Questionable the single slot and especially the position, next to the battery. The ISO dial is made like that of the X-PRO series, but it is equipped with a click that makes it faster to use. Another better thing than the X-PRO, both dials are clickable, another super convenient thing. The joystick is precise and put in the right place. Wanting to be picky, perhaps the cross buttons, as on the X-T series, would have been there and maybe made the machine even more flexible. Excellent syncro flash usable at all times, thanks to the central shutter. Last, but not least, it is really nice to see, especially if Silver, but here you go to personal tastes!

fujifilm_xt5Fujifilm X-T5

Pros: Fantastic camera body, good autofocus. Improved ergonomics compared to the X-T4.

Cons: The autofocus, although good, needs some improvements. Some shortcomings compared to the X-H2 such as the new viewfinder and battery grip.

Opinion: Opinion: This machine is the true evolution of the X-T series that with the X-T4 had undergone an involution in my opinion. The camera body is perfect, very compact but not for this scarce or without the possibility of customization. It grips much better than its predecessor and is very well built. I have to get used to such a small size, sometimes I miss the keys, for better ergonomics, I added the L-shaped plate of the Smallrig which, in my case, in addition to easily allowing me the vertical composition, solves the problem of the little finger "dangling". The menus are quite comfortable, well organized, although I preferred the photo / video switch on the X-T4, I do not understand why they removed it was very convenient and after Fuji, others have adopted the same practical solution. Nice viewfinder even if lower than the X-H2, while if possible, I find it even more fluid and natural than the already excellent one present on the X-T4. Autofocus good but not excellent, on fast animals, if I want a nice percentage of shots in focus, I have to fall back on the sister X-H2s that does this job very well. The burst is a little castrated, I suppose also for the slowness of the autofocus module, slowness in recalculation that is noticeable on fast subjects. The image quality is the best I've ever seen on aps-c, we are very close to the level of the Sony A7RIII that I have had for so long. Finally I can crop in those situations where the subject is too far away and in those cases where I love to focus on detail (for example in macros). Obviously at high ISO (> 6400) it suffers much more than a full frame, but today with the new software, the problem is mitigated a lot (I use DXO Deep Prime). The new color profiles are very nice, while I do not understand the choice to keep the toy filters, absolutely useless. For those who want to play with images, there are thousands of apps made on purpose. I know very little about the video part, but it seems really high level even if inferior to X-H2, I will take the whim to make some videos to animals. Excellent also the stabilization that, for me, is superior to the X-T4, here you get really high levels, even for the video side. Quite interesting is the decent usability of the electronic shutter even if the machine has a rather poor readout time. I almost forgot that I had the mechanical one that I only use for very fast shots. Excellent display that is "tiltable" both horizontally and vertically. Very convenient to the street. Complete the equipment of rings, wheels and buttons, there is to really customize a world. Using the front and rear ring, both clickable, you can use the machine very quickly for those occasions where you need to be able to change times / iso / apertures quickly and easily. We come to the cons that are there. The first and it is a very stupid thing, the viewfinder less resolute, a good viewfinder would be appropriate on all machines of a certain value and this machine does not cost little. Also sorry for the lack of battery grip, it makes little sense to remove an option that one buys if he wants and, among other things, they are options sold at a very high cost. To close, we hope for a firmware update to improve the autofocus, the camera is promoted with flying colors.

fujifilm_xh2Fujifilm X-H2

Pros: High solidity feeling, good autofocus, beautiful viewfinder, excellent video features. Top ergonomics. CFExpress Type B support.

Cons: Impossible to adjust the ISO through any wheel, exposure height only from menu, non-clickable dials. Autofocus to improve.

Opinion: This is the first BigMpixel with aps-c sensor and despite some weaknesses related to youth, we are in the presence of a large machine with a splendid sensor. The camera body is perfect, it grips wonderfully and gives the impression of being a tank, built very well. for those with very large hands, you can add a battery grip, or an L-shaped bracket that, in my case, in addition to easily allowing me the vertical composition, solves the problem of the little finger "dangling". The menus are quite comfortable, well organized, although I preferred the photo / video switch on the X-T4, I do not understand why they removed it was very convenient and after Fuji, others have adopted the same practical solution. The new color profiles are very nice, while I do not understand the choice to keep the toy filters, absolutely useless. For those who want to play with images, there are thousands of apps made on purpose. The video part I know very little, but it seems really very high, in particular the 8k, I will take the whim to make some videos to the animals. Excellent buffer that allows you to make bursts too long, in the end you are easily having to analyze many images, I suppose it is also thanks to the CFExpress card. We come to the cons that are there. The first and it is a very stupid thing, the ISO button does not adjust except by pressing a button, who knows what science will be needed to be able to assign it to a wheel ... mah Another stupid, with the X-T4 the rings are clickable and it is a very convenient thing, it makes the machine fast even for those who prefer a system completely based on the rings. Click and choose the aperture, click and choose the ISO, cool. Now they have removed it with the excuse of better waterproofing and then put it back on the X-T5. Similar speech for the ironing of the exposure, you choose only from the menu and there is no way to assign it to some key, less than less to a ring. Apart from these things that could be solved with firmware updates, the machine is promoted with flying colors.

fujifilm_xh2sFujifilm X-H2S

Pros: High solidity feeling, great autofocus, beautiful viewfinder, excellent video features. Top ergonomics. CFExpress Type B support.

Cons: Impossible to adjust the ISO through any wheel, exposure height only from menu, non-clickable dials.

Opinion: Finally Fuji has also launched into the world of stacked sensors and does it very well. The camera body is perfect, it grips wonderfully and gives the impression of being a tank, very well built. for those with very large hands, you can add a battery grip, or an L-shaped bracket that, in my case, in addition to easily allowing me the vertical composition, solves the problem of the little finger "dangling". Really nice viewfinder, if possible, even more fluid and natural than the already excellent one present on the X-T4. Excellent autofocus, exceeds my abilities, at this point I have to improve before I can criticize it. With the latest update, even the 40 fps has a rather high rate in focus. The fact remains that then they must be seen and 40 fps are really too many for my patience! Image quality, we are at the same level as the X-T4 and it is a great result since stacked sensors often suffer more than traditional ones. The new color profiles are very nice, while I do not understand the choice to keep the toy filters, absolutely useless. For those who want to play with images, there are thousands of apps made on purpose. I know very little about the video part, but it seems really of a very high level, I will take the whim to make some videos to the animals. Excellent also the stabilization that, for me, is superior to the X-T4, here you get really high levels, even for the video side. Very interesting, but this was imaginable being a stacked sensor, the usability of the electronic shutter. I almost forgot I had the mechanical one. We come to the cons that are there. sony_rx0_iiSony RX0 II

Pros: Crazy quality, it is a real camera, pocket-sized, very robust and waterproof

Cons: Battery life, fixed diaphragm

Opinion: It's the second time I've been back, the first time I sold it, then I wanted a pocket machine, I took the RX100 IV, I wasn't very satisfied and I took the RX0 II. Excellent 4k videos directly in the machine (the I series, only on external device), very valid 24mm lens equivalent, tiltable screen of 180 degrees. It is an excellent camera, poorly advertised, very few know that it has respectable photographic qualities. Waterproof up to 2 meters deep without a diving suit, you can step on it, in short, the real machine to take anywhere without any fear.

sony_a7r_ivSony A7r IV

Pros: Top sensor, autofocus performance, grip, consumption, viewfinder

Cons: Price, still some lack firmware side

Opinion: The machine, after the excellent RIII represents, personal opinion, the best of Sony. It doesn't have the fast performance of the A9, but it packs a whole host of great features that make it a good car for every occasion. The viewfinder is indistinguishable from an optical viewfinder, if we really want to look for the hair in the egg, it is a little small. The AF performance is finally very satisfactory, great tracking, excellent overall responsiveness. The machine falls very well in the hand and the handle is very precise for a medium-sized hand. Excellent sensor even at medium ISO high, in my opinion at high ISO the RIII is better, but we are talking about trifles. Fantastic dynamic range, raw very workable especially with Capture One which I consider superior to Lightroom for Sony raws. As always, purely electronic features are granted with the eyedropper. What it costs to put a focus stacking, a better timelapse, pixel shift in the room and other small things that other brands even have on much lower class machines... Quite a high price, in line with other products of the brand. Ultimately a great and complete machine in all respects. Its battery grip is also excellent.

sony_fe90macroSony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS

Pros: Top sharpness, excellent gear, impeccable construction, stabilized and tropicalized, af/mf dial very comfortable

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: The most beautiful macro glass I could ever try and I tried a lot of them from various houses. Superior to the excellent 100 Canon, 100mm Pentax and the whole wonderful series of Macros made by Sigma (I had them all, from 70mm up to the mammoth and spectacular 180mm F2.8). Good autofocus to be a macro. Spectacular portraitist with a beautiful blur. Zero aberrations in every condition. Paired with a bigmpx provides huge satisfactions, the amount of detail captured on an A7Rx leaves you literally stunned. This glass would deserve to all intents and purposes, to belong to the GM series, the features are all there, including the top price! ;)

venus_laowa_100macro_2xVenus Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO

Pros: Solid construction, optical quality, no aberration, beautiful bokeh

Cons: Plastic lampshade with approximate attachment, mandatory front protective lens, inaccurate focus

Opinion: From an optical point of view and more generally of performance, nothing to say. We are facing a top macro lens. I, on similar lengths I use the Sigma 150mm latest version and the Sony 90mm, so it has to play with two giants and comes out great. It has no aberrations whatsoever, it is very sharp even on machines with many MegaPixels and also has a very nice bokeh that manages to make the subject stand out rather well. What is wrong, the lampshade is plastic and has an attack that definitely gives no guarantee of durability. Missing the attack for the stand, which is not very serious, but given the reproduction ratio so pushed, it was there. The front lens, being very inside the tube, must be absolutely protected with a filter and in fact one is given a decent quality. Replaced with a B-W, the images immediately benefited. Last thing, maybe the only real mole of the lens, the focus. It is little demolished and this makes it inaccurate, from a macro manual focus you expect more, so, you have to waste a lot of time to ensure a precision focus and you do not always succeed especially in a more generalist use. The price is very competitive, it costs very little for what it offers from an optical point of view.

sony_fe100_stfSony FE 100mm f/2.8 STF GM OSS

Pros: Scary sharpness, excellent construction, complete in every feature, autofocus

Cons: Unfortunately, we start at T5.6

Opinion: This lens represents an amazing experience, it has incredible sharpness, an exceptional bokeh, it focuses very closely, with an achromatic doublet can make excellent macros. Amazing in portraits and superlative for flowers. Excellent mechanics, it also has the declick on diaphragms that can also be piloted manually. Distance limiter for autofocus, in short there is just everything, even the felpede lampshade! The only downside is the maximum opening which, for the type of elements used, is quite limiting especially when there is little light. For the rest, super in every way!

sony_fe200-600Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS

Pros: Super sharp at all focal points, very balanced, weight low

Cons: Length, construction a bit cheap

Opinion: A beautiful surprise this lens that is produced by Sony's Chinese factories. Sharp, with a beautiful blur. In the focal points that are the same, he plays it without problems even with his half-sister GM (the 100-400), indeed in terms of sharpness is also superior. The GM is better built and is better performing as an autofocus. The 1.4x TC also bears good. In this case, I found better shots made with the A6400, compared to those made with the A7RIII even in crop mode. Evidently the dense FF sensor, lays bare the slight drop in sharpness using the TCL, a drop that you notice meta with the small APS-C. Note to the side: the A6400 churns out images that are better than those made with the A7RIII in crop mode. Evidently the advantage in MegaPixel (24 vs. 18), has its own because...

sigma_60-600os_sportSigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport

Pros: Focal Excursion, quality at the longest focal length, construction.

Cons: Weight, quality at the shorter focal lengths

Opinion: I took it to replace the 150-600 Sports I sold because not happy with the performance-level tracking and autofocus. I did wrong to sell it because the unsatisfactory performance was due to the metabones not working very well on that front. Instead used with the MC-11 is really good. Apart from this digress, the 60-600 pleasantly surprised me, the quality especially at the longest focal length is higher than the 150-600 and it is well known after you have taken your hand. Not exciting quality at the lower focal, where in some circumstances, also appears a bit of purple fringing, nothing serious that can not be corrected in post, but there is. Despite the weight even here important (about 300 grams less than 150-600), the handling is discrete even if you need two zoom rounds to get from 60 to 600mm. Another pleasant surprise is the minimum focus distance, 60cm at the focal length of 200mm with a magnification ratio of 0, 3x good for set macros. The Stabilizer guarantees about 3-4 stop of tolerance, it is right to emphasize that I use it along with that of the machine, with the only optical stabilizer could make less. Very Useful The bracket for the Stand compatible ARCA Swiss, missing the two pins of the latch, I have "stolen" from an old ARCA Swiss plate that I had in the house. Last thing, eye to the filters, here the diameter is 105mm, ie the good ones cost a lot... In Short, it costs something more than brother 150-600, but overall it's worth all.

sony_a7r_iiiSony A7r III

Pros: What was missing from the A7RII

Cons: Price

Opinion: After a few hours of use, the impression is that Sony has finally heard the criticism of customers and not just their own marketing department. The improvements are many and cover, for what is my experience, all the areas where the mark II did not shine. Rnrn What is the eye? Rnrn First of all, despite the same sensor, the quality has improved slightly, the dynamic range is higher and the colors are more balanced. Not a little to be the same sensor. These results sometimes reflect, in the sense that technologies that have never been exploited to the bottom are abandoned ... rnrnAutofocus, here we are in another category, fast, perfect tracking and exceptional Eye-AF, portraying with this machine is also a pleasure with very bright optics. Of all this improvement, the adaptive optics also benefit from it, my Metabones Smart Adapter V looks like something else, we are close to native speed. Excellent. Not to mention the burst, 10 fps with an excellent buffer.rnrnStabilizeFinally, it is a serious matter that can be relied upon. It is soon to make accurate accounts, but I would say that we are close to the 5 stops, so excellent, the old A7RII was not at all at this level. RnrnPixel Shift, still cumbersome but already sees great possibilities, the quality you can squeeze with this technique is astonishing, sin for the delay between one shot and the other. I used the same function on Pentax and it is more advanced. RnrnThe LCD monitor and the viewfinder are both improved, indeed, the monitor is now touching another beautiful novelty, I do not care much about it, but I know that many were waiting for it. An excellent input is the joystick for the focus, convenient and functional.rnrnDouble Dual Battery ... what else? RnrnAdded the bluetooth connection, i have not tried it yet so i do not know what functions are hiding behind ... rnrnAdd door USB C, being quite recent, is not a real innovation, I download photos directly by connecting SD tol PC, to try if it is really fast as they say. By the way, another great novelty, the support for two SDs, only one of the SDXC II type, however, the dual slot is quite comfortable and provides more peace, especially when it is gone. for studio units.rnrnAlso the video industry has been improved 4k video is now without binning pixels, HDRs have HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) support, full HD comes to 120fps, in short, a whirlwind of novelty even here. The ergonomics for me has improved thanks to the larger battery that has forced the designers to revisit the handle, now more comfortable. The menus have been revised, you can create custom menus and you can assign them to almost all the keys an enormous amount of more features than before. I immediately put the FF / APS-C switch, very comfortable.rnrnFor now enough, the manual is huge and the new features really arente ...

sony_fe100-400ossSony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS

Pros: Lightweight, ultra-slim, with no aberrations, minimum focusing distance, very good if multiplied

Cons: Cost, perhaps too plastic

Opinion: I took it to replace the Canon 100-400 IS II that I used on A6300 and A7RII with great satisfaction. Canon zoom is excellent, lightweight, handy, multiplies it's a pleasure (TC 1.4 III) and with the minimum focusing distance below the meter, you can also afford some nice macro settings. Used on Sony bodies with the Metabones Smart Adapter V, it focuses really well and discreetly fast, less effective if used with the IV version of the adapter. The new born Sony resembles much like Canon's behavior, it was better like sharpness and, but this was obvious, like speed in focus, especially in pursuit. rnNo regret in the "swap", indeed an improvement I was not sure (Canon is a bomb!) rnDi against the price ( I paid him 600 euros more than the Canon) and some doubt about the very plastic grade construction quality. On this last point, only time and usage will tell if it is just a 'Impression or not. Finally, being a recent design lens, it is virtually free of chromatic aberrations, which is true for Canon too. In conjunction with the A6300, it is a pleasure in terms of speed and convenience, virtually an excellent coupler for the " birdlife also in motion. Used together with the A7RII provides exceptional quality.
