nikon_d7100Nikon D7100

Pros: easy handling, weight and size for a DSLR, image quality, battery, dual slots

Cons: Limited Burst & Buffer, Video Department

Opinion: A very good APS-C SLR. Both raw and jpeg are beautiful to look at and work with, the ISO tightness counting that it is a 2013 machine is more than acceptable. 24mpx is a fair compromise between definition and lightness. It handles very well as it is neither too small nor too large. All the controls are in the right place. The autofocus is fast and accurate. The small built-in flash does its fair job. The battery lasts a long time. For those who are starting out it is a bomb, for those who are a good amateur photographer a respectable body even nowadays while for professionals it could be a good solution for holiday or personal photos if you do not want to risk your equipment in certain situations or at the limit as an emergency body (it also has two slots for very useful sd). An (almost) really well made all-rounder. I say almost because if it is excellent for portraits, landscapes, street it is a little less so for nature and sport having a poor burst and above all a buffer that fills up quickly. But knowing it and with a little craft, it can also be used discreetly in those areas. If for the photography section it is fully promoted for the video section I can say, even if I am not a videomaker, that it is easy to understand that it was born in that (long) historical period in which Nikon just didn't do the video thing well. Anyway, if you need the videos, he makes them... Another small negative note, but more for personal taste, the (good) screen is fixed. Surely this way it is more solid and tropicalized perhaps, but let's say that for a body of this type a mobile screen would have been more suitable for shots at more unusual angles or for "uncomfortable" macros.

tamron_15-30vcTamron 15-30mm f/2.8 VC USD

Pros: Overall performance, stabilizer, build quality, fast and quiet

Cons: huge, filters almost impossible to install

Opinion: A really excellent wide-angle zoom. From 15 to 30 an excellent yield. Obviously, like all these lenses, it has some distortion, some vignetting, some loss of sharpness at the edges, but it's all fixable in post. At 15 millimeters, of course, you need to master flare and straight lines, but with a little experience you can get excellent results. In short, a fantastic landscape zoom lens that, thanks to VR and an f2.8, can be used in numerous other photographic areas. Highly recommended.

sigma_24-35_f2artSigma 24-35mm f/2.0 DG HSM Art

Pros: Crisp everywhere, solid, fast, bright, and more

Cons: The ones we already know before: big, heavy, without stabilization and with a limited focal range

Opinion: A crazy goal. Do we want to start with the flaws? He has them, but if he didn't, it would be science fiction. Did we mention it's big and heavy? But it is solid and balanced on an important body; Is it "only" F2 and not stabilized? But it's already razor-sharp like this and there is plenty of light; vignette to TA? Yes, true, but nothing that can't be solved in post; Does it have a limited focal range? Very true but it has the performance of a 24, a 28 and a 35 pro in a single element; Is it too dedicated to events and weddings? It is, but it's also amazing for landscapes, portraits, astrophotography, reportage... In addition, it focuses very closely, has no chromatic aberrations, limited distortions and manages to have a nice bokeh despite the wide focal lengths. I forgot: you can plant the sun in the middle of the glass and it only gives you a more beautiful photo. It's clearly a particular lens that you "have to use", of course, but when you need it, it does its job in an incredible way.

nikon_70-300vrNikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED VR

Pros: Quality/price, lightness, stabilization, overall and blurred rendering

Cons: loss of sharpness from 250 onwards to TA, plastic (but if we want it light...)

Opinion: Nikon (and even Canon) have never given anything away in the past. The quality and every improvement were sold at a high price. With this lens they must have made some error of judgment because fortunately for us it is one of the few that fully returns all the money spent. It's a consumer lens, sure, but one that looks at the Pro in many ways. It's true it's made of plastic and doesn't have an opening to tear your hair out, but it has a respectable optical performance and is light and space-saving, which for a lens born for nature and travel is a great plus point. VR works great and is, for its category, very fast in focusing. It has good backlight resistance, it has chromatic aberrations that are quite tame in post, it has good sharpness and a nice blur. Yes true, at 300 and at full aperture it softens but to avoid that we would have to carry an extra kilo and at least another thousand euros on our shoulders. Is it worth it if we don't have the ambition to end up on the cover of National Geographic? A super recommended lens for those who are starting to delve into nature photography but also for those who have already been doing it with passion for years but do not want to open a mortgage while taking beautiful photos

nikon_80-200_f2-8dNikon AF 80-200 f/2.8 ED D

Pros: color and atmosphere, bokeh, razor-sharp at intermediate apertures, beautiful design, fastness

Cons: Output at 2.8 (at least mine), noisy, fragile m/af selector

Opinion: A great former Pro lens with which the spark was never triggered. Taken thinking I was making a deal, however, I used it in the wrong way: anxiety-inducing work situations where I absolutely had to bring home the result. A wire too soft for me at 2.8, too noisy in certain locations, not performing enough for my standards the autofocus in low light situations and without VR. I asked an instrument from 25 years ago to be on par with recent professional lenses and it was clearly an exaggerated claim. I make a mea culpa. The result is that it has too often remained closed in the bag and on balance it does not deserve it because taken in another way it is a great lens: closed just a thread on a high-performance camera body (even dated) it becomes sharp and fast and can be used for non-prohibitive sporting events but also for landscaping because it returns beautiful colors and for portraiture because it has a truly delicate and dreamlike bokeh. But for this unfortunately I already had dedicated lenses. So worse for me but better for those who immediately understood how to use it.
