![]() | Fujifilm X-T50 Pros: Compact, lightweight, fuji colors, a thousand customization options Cons: Not be tropicalized Opinion: I come from Canon 80D and I wanted a compact travel stuff that churned out ready-made files without going crazy with the PP. I opted for this even if until the last moment I fought with the XT-5 but the more than 500 euros difference made me opt for it. I didn't regret it. The machine is compact and lightweight. With the new kit you can put it in a jacket and you don't feel the weight at the neck at all. The dials are all customizable even if at the beginning you have to go a little crazy with the menus but then you understand the logic and everything is easier. The film ring is nice and allows you to be very creative. The only discordant note is the grip that is not really marked but is solved with a third-party component that can be purchased almost anywhere. The battery if used sparingly for a day of photos around is more than enough, clear that if you shoot the burst at 9/15fps the duration is reduced. I bring a spare battery anyway. The autofocus does its job even if I have to try it in sports situations to be able to understand the actual limits that many boast. Too bad I am not tropicalized but I don't have to shoot under a monsoon for 8h so I don't see this lack. In my opinion machine mistreated by many because of the price and the lack of tropicalization but in the end you take home a travel machine, compact, light, 40mpx and more or less the same functions as the XT-5 for 400/500 euros less. I am very satisfied. sent on January 12, 2026 |
![]() | Canon 80D Pros: articulated screen, MAF steps, simple settings even for an amateur, touchscreen, price Cons: Sealing to ISO>1600, Weight Opinion: My humble opinion as an amateur. I switched to this 80D from a now limiting 2000D so you understand the leap in quality, as well as from a 500 to a Ferrari. Moreover, a machine suggested to me by a user here on the forum (and whom I thank again!). I certainly appreciated the articulated screen of this camera which for me who takes photos from different angles is a must-have. The focus points are great in both LV and viewfinder. You have to spend some time in the settings to find the right team for your needs but the menu is really simple even for me who am not a top :). For these needs, the touchscreen is really comfortable. The only cons to date are the resistance to high ISO (but nothing that cannot be corrected with a PP passage) and the generous weight of the body. If you find it at around 500€ (as in my case) it is a great upgrade for anyone.... sent on July 24, 2025 |
![]() | Canon 2000D Pros: used and new price, great to start with, few frills, infinite battery Cons: very slow burst, inaccurate autofocus, noise at high ISO Opinion: It was the machine I started with. We are talking about an entry entry entry level that really pays two peanuts both new and used. For those who want to start small, I don't think there are better solutions. Few and essential controls, which allows you to focus on shooting and away without going crazy with a thousand dials and settings. The battery is infinite, I don't think I've ever brought it below 50%. The built-in flash is convenient. The only flaws: at high ISO the noise is evident but what do you want to do with it... Clearly the autofocus is not lightning fast and / or precise but it can give some satisfaction. Very slow gust. Plasticky yet solid construction. It doesn't scratch easily. I wouldn't even call them flaws on such a machine. After a few months of use you will realize the limits it has but the satisfaction of the first shots is incomparable... sent on July 02, 2025 |
![]() | Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Pros: Very good sharpness, construction, all-rounder optics Cons: Zoom ring that tends to "go down", weight, compatibility only EF-S. Opinion: I want to give my very modest opinion as an amateur on this lens. Purchased at a bargain price of about € 200 so the review is based on this price and not on that of about 300/400 at which it is found today. it's the successor to the 18-55 kit I had on the 2000D. I certainly appreciate the "all-rounder" focal range and the excellent aperture at 2.8 which, for me, is always extra-sharp. I like the colors a lot and require very little pp (see on my profile some shots ;)) Solid construction even if slightly heavy for the type of lens even if I like to "feel" the weight of the lens. The focal ring is "slow", i.e. it tends to go down with gravity due to the weight. The IS was excellent and allowed me to shoot without micro-blur even at 1/40. Too bad for compatibility only on APS-C. I would have gladly brought it in the future to FF but peace, it will be resold. The lens hood that is supplied is extremely bulky so much so that I avoid using it. I will look for an alternative. As I anticipated, for the price paid it is a best-buy and I do not regret it. For the 300/400 he is at now I would probably have had some more doubts. sent on July 02, 2025 |
