![]() | Canon 70D Pros: ISO Seal, Dynamic Range, Sensor, Ruggedness, Vari-Angle Display, Dual Pixel AF, Price Cons: Nobody Opinion: I was looking for an aps-c for travel and some outdoor portraits with natural light, found this 70d with 18-135 stm at the same price as an 80d body only... after having been able to try them both I obviously chose the 70d also because apart from the AF (slightly more advanced in the 80d) the two cameras are practically the same, indeed at high ISO the 70d is better also as a dynamic range as well as holding. Probably thanks to the less dense sensor and with a slightly less "digital" rendering, the fact is that the overall quality is undoubtedly comparable to a full frame, the files are really beautiful, jpg absolutely from a pro body. Compared to my partner's 1300d, it literally makes another planet in every way. Honor to Canon for these prosumer SLRs capable of staying at the highest levels even after years... and with affordable costs. sent on August 25, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II Pros: Sharpness/resolution, lightness, versatility Cons: Construction, user experience, flare Opinion: As a lover of vintage lenses, I am always fascinated by discovering unexpected qualities for a few pennies... Actually, this is not even so vintage since it has continued to be produced in the digital era... in fact on the 5d III and its 22 megapixels it does its excellent job, always sharp even at 80 mm which makes it a good kit lens even if the general experience of use is inferior e.g. to the corresponding 18-55 for APS-C (which unlike this 28-80 they also did in the stabilized version). 58 mm diameter, plastic mount, not very precise rings but the price is considering it, AF still fast enough. Always use with CPL / lens hood (both together you can't really mount them) ... it suffers from flare and stray lights, rear lens reflects (being born for film) good colors and detail, usable for portrait and in any case preferably with careful light management as it is not a particularly contrasted lens. Good all-rounder for light outputs and all in all decent image quality. sent on June 02, 2024 |
![]() | Canon 5D Mark III Pros: Used price, iso hold, viewfinder, ergonomics, light files and splendid jpegs, remarkable AF, versatility Cons: Nobody Opinion: After many vicissitudes and passing through an aps-c I decided for a full frame purchase... Tested together with a mark II in a shop, as soon as I put my eye in the viewfinder the indecision vanished... the extra 250 euros was worth them all, another world compared to the very honorable mk II. Starting from the double slot, the tropicalization, passing through a REAL AF, ending on a more than decent burst, not even remotely comparable to the ISO hold (I had already used a friend's mk II and consequently I still have the files). All things that make it a definitive machine even if dated for amateur use and beyond, capable in my opinion of satisfying weddings as well as for sports or birdlife rather than simple portraits in the studio or with natural light. Excellent in combination with the very sharp 24-105 is stm, unfortunately a bit dark at 105 (in reality it does not lose anything thanks to the excellent stabilization that allows slower times than that for example of the L series f / 4) but which on the other hand makes up for it on the colors, excelled without smudges ... always splendid even with cheaper optics. sent on May 10, 2024 |
