![]() | Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR II Pros: Compactness, very light, dials, sharpness in general, 11 blades, minimum distance, AF, colors, bokeh, star effect, decreatable button, very small lens hood not bulky and it also seems excellent to me, it is part of the best Fujifilm zooms. Cons: Perhaps extreme sharpness, new generation optics optimized for the new 40MP APS-c sensor, a super perfect optics, not everyone loves these features, those looking for old type lenses with character, this zoom I would say not indicated. Ring to adjust apertures maybe too soft happens with cold temperatures it becomes soft. Or found a slight AF noise when turning on and off on strange camera body but maybe normal AF motor nothing negative. Serial number pasted. Opinion: The 16-55 MK II is really a top lens, great AF, very good hold against light and nice star effect. The zoom is even smaller and more compact than I thought, this is not comparable with the old version, the zoom rings are just perfect without tearing, everything is perfect, will the construction be made of plastic?, I don't know, but unlike the previous version which felt more stable, more metal. The filter ring at the front is made of metal so very well made. I think it's really a successful shot from Fujifilm, so if you want to be light and shoot compact and still have the f2.8 aperture with you really well done. Be careful, the differences with the best Fujifilm fixed lenses are minimal, not to say marginal, excellent performance, very high even higher than some fixed lenses, and even the Bokeh seems very noble to me for a zoom, obviously the zoom cannot compete with a fixed lens with f1.2/1.4 aperture, it detaches the foreground much more. The only questionable con in my opinion, I see a question mark on the sharpness and the ring to adjust apertures at cold temperatures becomes very soft. It is probably produced only in a small part in Japan, so no longer Made in Japan, too bad the serial number glued in that way where with high temperatures it comes off on this point, I remain critical. I have complained for many years about the previous version, too bulky and heavy, with this new version things change radically, it becomes a transportable optic even for very long outings, ideal for trekking and travel, this I think is a great advantage compared to the previous version. On some contrast edges, I noticed a bit more CA on the old lens, but even that in the completely non-critical range. Differences in bokeh: The new one looks a bit better in a direct comparison (f2.8 at 55mm). The handling is much more pleasant with the new lens. Size and weight just seem consistent. Summary: New can stay, it's a contemporary update, and I particularly like it with its size and weight. The lockable opening is a big plus when using the aperture on the camera (I prefer). The old one is going on the second-hand market, but it went very well. Purely from optical performance, a change is not absolutely necessary, anyone who claims otherwise either has a bad specimen or is deluding himself. A change from I to II cannot be justified in terms of price/performance. My personal opinion Fujifilm has done a great job for me ultra recommended this zoom even if not really cheap but unfortunately period where everything increases it will be very difficult to find in a short period cheap opportunities regarding this zoom 16-55 MK II. I confirm, after further tests, extraordinary zoom with ultra sharpness, compact with beautiful colors, even bokeh rendering up close or made comparisons with the best Fujifilm fixed lenses, but I must say the differences are marginal, visible only at considerable magnifications at full aperture, angles, but no one will ever notice any difference, thanks to Fujifilm. sent on November 25, 2024 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Pros: Sharpness on all focal lengths, construction, excellent with Tc 1.4 Cons: Backlight sealing only sufficient, very light noisy nothing intrusive, high energy consumption perhaps also due to three internal motors that seem to work continuously, minimum distance, usual Fujifilm lens hood. Opinion: Tested with my Fuji X-H2 40 MP. Pros: Sharpness I would say excellent in the center at the corners just close one stop, excellent construction with internal zooming the zoom does not lengthen, reactive AF mounts three internal motors AF, very heavy but I do not know if you can build more compact for the reason many lenses present and zoom with internal construction the zoom does not stretch so you need additional dimensions. Tripod bracket not swiss ark I do not find it so serious but a future update I would see well even only 7 blades in some situations even nervous bokeh but from a zoom expect miracles very difficult. Excellent behavior with Tc especially with Tc1.4. Cons: I find insufficient backlight sealing with a lot of flare and dominated I don't know ?, but despite the presence of some lenses with nanocrystal treatment certainly not the maximum 23 lenses are a lot so it will be physiological lower tightness than other zooms, I do not find the best lens hood. A future update I see the new MK2 16-55 would not be an evil eye idea with 11 blades, declikable ring for video function, less obvious flare, now it's been 10 years since the Fuji 50-140 alternative was presented same focal length and zoom brightness does not exist on the Fujifilm system. Good zoom lens but to be updated. sent on November 09, 2024 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR Pros: Sharpness, image quality, corner rendering, brightness, chromatic aberration, angle of view, star effect, automatic internal correction excellent jpeg file. Cons: Physiological cause construction-distortion, large front lens, flare with side light, size and weight. Opinion: I had already tried in the past a used Fuji 8-16 together with the X-H1 24MP, I wanted to try again with my current X-H2 40MP the behavior of the 8-16 zoom. Or tried for years optical alternatives that were less bulky but perhaps too much personal compromise. Lately had the new Fuji 8mm f3.5 + 11-20 Tamron but....?, the 8 3.5 for me not very bright too much internal automatic correction, the 11-20 Tamron without aperture ring and sometimes chromatic aberrations in short, always some compromise to be made also to cover the same focal length you need two lenses. Arrived yesterday afternoon tested with my X-H2 40 MP I find really impressive corner yield: it loses something at full opening at the outermost corners, but seen at 100% no one notices the slightly soft outermost corners. I don't see chromatic aberrations really hard to find optically well corrected. Negative points are physiological. The optics in addition to being bulky to many special lenses obviously the very high cost. Excellent construction but what matters to me at f2.8 brightness so also gone for possible use with low light handheld, but also for astro etc. so a very extreme flexible zoom. Another point in favor of the Fuji 8-16 compared to the fixed Fuji 8 3.5 for me the focal discourse if I don't like the framing focal change with the zoom a fixed one you know forced to change lenses which bothers me a lot. Those looking for compactness use filters always to recommend a less extreme zoom example 10-18 2.8 Sigma not to certain problems in more super compact price even much lower. sent on October 16, 2024 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 2.0x TC WR Pros: Little degradation with X-H2, very good construction. Cons: Nothing for me. Opinion: The Fuji TC2.0 arrived a little while ago. Some time ago I tried the Tc1.4 which had already impressed me in a very positive way. Doubts were so many from those reviews read AF slow and degradation?, or made tests with my X-H2+80 macro+Tc2.0 vs Zoom 55-200 at 160mm focal length but I am really very surprised the difference not what I expected excellent behavior of the tele Tc2.0. I have to consider whether to keep the 55-200 zoom again. AF Tc2.0+80 macro excellent but perhaps it changes a bit compared to the past much improved AF with X-H2 plus the 40MP maybe this is the reason for the excellent behavior. Basically my 80mm macro becomes a 160mm 2:1 with great AF, tried adding the 11mm ring but it remains great. Certainly adding a teleconverter to be discouraged for fast dynamic photography the Fuji Tc2.0 works with stationary objects where I calmly focus, the 50-140 AF will be a lightning bolt in comparison, personally I am fine on the macro 80 but on a dim zoom I don't see any sense to add a tele Tc2.0 so extreme, the lack of light goes into crisis so I recommend rather the Tc1.4 which is less extreme and takes away less light. It would be better to use it on super bright fixed lenses, but Fujifilm only has one lens of this type, the 200 2.0, which already has the white TC. sent on May 03, 2024 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R LM WR Macro Pros: Small, light, compact, excellent construction, excellent AF, very high sharpness, closed apertures for macro photography, no chromatic aberrations, excellent behavior with extra magnification filters. Cons: Bokeh a can nervous or let's say specific lens for macro photography if used for other I do not recommend it, difficult to use very close minimum distance, useless lens hood due to minimum distance, weak on long distance with soft corners wide open, vignetting present. Opinion: Tried yesterday the small Fuji 30 macro. Built in an excellent way with excellent rings also the one to adjust the diaphragm I find excellent, excellent AF behavior for a macro tested even with a really good 11mm ring. The excellent performance even if optimized for close to long distance certainly loses something compared to another lens, I find the bokeh nervous but I think physiological for such a short lens. Focusing distance only a few inches at face front touches means that you have to be careful not to ruin the front lens, or tried a few shots with the Godox MF12 flask I find great. Found filter adapter that I need for the Godox MF12 but or made tests with adapter and close up filters for further magnification?, it seems absurd instead I find it very useful on this 30mm lens. Surely a lens suitable for small objects or outdoor study with insects will not be easy to use or additional magnification filter?, recommended especially with stacked focus otherwise the blur will be noticeable only a few millimeters in focus or made tests at f16 with my X-H2 should be strong the degradation instead I do not find it so dramatic but..... Maybe I don't know how to optimize it even with very small apertures. Personally, I don't see it as better to use the Fuji 23 1.4WR/33 1.4 which are also brighter with nice bokeh, I don't buy a macro lens to do anything else. In my opinion the Fujifilm 30 macro a specific lens for macro photography optimized on very close distances with apertures a can closed the optics from the maximum becomes amazing indicated in a particular way for small objects, this lens reminds me of a can the extremes super wide angles where the foreground enormously enlarged with the very small background a particular effect and this 30mm macro also gives a particular effect different than a tele macro lens Change your perspective. The biggest surprise discovered today tried the Tc1.4+11mm ring on very close distances it works great even with excellent AF it zooms further without particular degradation things present in the use magnification filters are comfortable unfortunately with chromatic aberrations present. However, on the Fujifilm system it would be great to have an updated 60mm with 1:1 magnification ratio + with excellent AF for focus stacked function. sent on January 27, 2024 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 8mm f/3.5 R WR Pros: Excellent sharpness in the center, excellent construction, excellent rings with clicks, excellent apertures, excellent AF, combative and light, excellent flare against light and excellent side light sealing. Cons: Insufficient brightness for an APS-c lens only f3.5, high electronic correction distortions probably physiological on such an extreme focal length, some chromatic aberration, price, star effect. Opinion: The 8mm f3.5 Fuji arrived. Pros: Very good sharpness in the center, great construction, great click rings, great apertures, great AF, fight and light, excellent flare against light and excellent side light sealing. Cons: Brightness ? Only f3.5, high electronic correction distortions probably physiological on such an extreme focal length, some chromatic aberration. Unfortunately not very bright but very questionable with this brightness it remains small, compact with excellent flare against light, the question if bright f2.8 increase in size if it improves optically difficult to say on an APS-c sensor with such a small sensor surface I guess physiological limits beyond that you can no longer do better. Some chromatic aberration in difficult light situations, however I would say normal then eventually corrected. Also strong is the internal automatic correction, distortions too high, contrasts seem artificial, the angles are acceptable but definitely not to die for. I also don't find the star effect at all good, disappointing for such an extreme optics, the 8-16 does much better. Price I find it a can high paid 840 euros maybe in the future it still goes down something. I don't give any personal grades but for me it's not worth 10 points. The only alternative to 8mm APS-c remains the 8-16, also bright f2.8, a Premium lens but very heavy, bulky with side light holding problems, it suffers from flare, also difficult to use filters, which however on such an extreme focal length I do not recommend. Note: very difficult to use as a focal length I would certainly use very rarely and let's say here I see an advantage weight and not demanding to carry it around as an extra lens with the 8-16 quite another matter. It's hard to say what best on these extreme focal lengths, however I find an f3.5 brightness lacking for an APS-c lens, but I understand that doing it differently, f2.8 increase size and price. Comparison with FF system I find it difficult Canon RF 14-35 / Nikon Z 14-30 are compact if I calculate Fuji 8mm + a moderate wide angle zoom cost and size ??. sent on November 23, 2023 |
![]() | Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RX D Pros: Excellent rings, it holds excellent performance at all focal lengths always good optics, excellent internal stabilizer, extended focal length and maintains f2.8 brightness at all focal lengths, very satisfactory AF very fast and very accurate with my X-H2. Cons: Physiological for a universal zoom chromatic aberrations and distortions, perhaps a long can bulky but given focal lengths and brightness then I think excellent. Stabilizer on sensors with the IBIS ?. Opinion: Arrived last night on Tamron 17-70. Done a can of various tests focal lengths and apertures, what can I say it is a bright f2.8 universal zoom in addition to the internal optical stabilizer I do not see how I can compare it with other optics for reason not the same focal length or brightness so for me only universal lens with extended focal length and f2.8 brightness currently for Fujifilm APS-c. I know that with a universal lens you have to make some compromises, in fact I find distortions and some chromatic aberration, nothing dramatic but present and physiological for a universal zoom. The corner performance, I must say, does not disappoint, good at full aperture, becomes excellent at closed apertures and this applies to all focal lengths. I find the mechanics excellent but the lens hood seems very small to me, really zero bulky, but maybe it was better a larger can for the better seal, side light. I haven't tried star effect, time doesn't allow me to do so, but I guess it's good at 9 blades. All in all, I think I need a successful lens when I go to the mountains and I want to bring only two/three lenses, maybe the 11-20+17-70 Tamron is a perfect pair. Or the X-H2 40 MP updated with the latest firmware, the AF works perfectly, tried even with the 11mm macro ring, but it's fine, really surprising, the AF is very fast and accurate. Lens recommended for landscape photography without high bokeh requirements. Note: new addition or checked several times the behavior of the stabilizer on my X-H2 I can't convince myself so for handheld photography only I always turn off the stabilizer on this zoom I sometimes find micro blur and abnormal behavior, using electric shutter only + the shutter only stabilizer behaves great. Or bought for reason was on occasion with price 630 euros for me very valid given the price. sent on October 21, 2023 |
![]() | Manfrotto 190 CX PRO3 Pros: Practicality fast use, lightweight, excellent material. Cons: Attention moving central column horizontally advice check very carefully the stability and if in the end more a disadvantage than advantage are not sure for the reason on several tripods the central column disassembled. Price I also find a can high. Opinion: Ordered arrived yesterday together the head Sirui 20 K II. The either purchased for the reason or started with macro photography I find very interesting the possibility of using the central column you can position horizontally but pay attention to the stability check well position feet of the tripod and check if sufficient stability otherwise you risk damage fall. Light enough 1.30 Kg I would say excellent or fixed an elastic cord for transport I would say excellent we find small attachment specially prepared. The tripod I find it extremely comfortable to stretch feet without having to turn I find it really very comfortable and very fast without wasting time but same discoro central column very fast built very well. Note: or no experience made with this tripod just my first impression maybe I split. sent on August 05, 2023 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 1.4x TC WR Pros: Nice and very compact, WR, excellent behavior with little degradation. Cons: Found nothing negative. Opinion: Tried this morning with X-H2 + the 80 macro Fuji and the 70-300 both work to the wonder AF + degradation I find it marginal I would say excellent very useful on the 80 macro for small animals. Great feeling very compact really nice and well done. Really minimal pocket footprint. I would say little to discuss better to have it than not to have it. Found opportunity bought used and I think we recommend. sent on July 29, 2023 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 80mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro Pros: Macros with superlative performance. Cons: Very heavy. Opinion: Arrived yesterday or bought a used pair in excellent condition so update a can at a time my impressions. Sharpness even at full aperture, really very impressive on 40 MP APS-c format with creamy macro bokeh, beautiful but not recommended for portrait, too much sharpness and cat eyes. The internal noise complained about by some I don't find so heavy on such a heavy optic, I find it much worse on the 18 1.4 than much lighter as an optic. The only real con that I would put the really exaggerated weight for an APS-c lens and this despite some parts built with material I don't put it?, I see better this lens so heavy on robust camera bodies I use X-H2 to an excellent grip for the hands not unbalanced. I find it interesting to use the TC 1.4/2.0 teleconverters. The AF if I consider for macro really impressive focuses very fast small insects etc. made a test with Tc1.4 + 11mm ring + 4+ filter I would say only excellent. A superlative lens if used for macro photography, if used for other portraits, etc., then perhaps less ideal. The dimensions are certainly very generous but the lens does not stretch with excellent AF and very high performance take away a bit of bitterness as far as size and weight are concerned. Note: AF for macro excellent with distance limiter, OIS stabilizer with button to activate, built internal optics the optics do not stretch less air displacement inside, optics with remarkable sharpness, closing aperture holds speech well diaphragm still excellent at f11/13 aperture for these reasons I say superlative optics for macro photography and excellent despite my strong criticism size and heavy. sent on July 19, 2023 |
![]() | Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD Pros: Lightweight, optical rendering, flexible thanks to f2.8 brightness, close putting and magnification, outstanding optics for wide-angle zoom sharpness and angles. Cons: Price maybe still a can high but initial price, chromatic aberrations at 11mm in difficult light situations can be corrected, distortions but physiological for a wide angle zoom. Opinion: Or a few days ago the Tamron 11-20 f2.8 took version with 5 years warranty, tested with 40 MP on my X-H2. I would say that this lens is very good on 40 MP Fuji sensors, excellent also the corner performance suffers slightly at 11mm focal length but physiological must correct distortions but I say for reportage still acceptable even at full aperture. The AF very quiet and accurate note: used on X-H2 so I don't know if used on 26 MP camera body not recent how it behaves. Needless to argue if someone has been used to the Fuji ring for years, here it is missing, let's say I see it much less dramatic for the reason I use X-H2 than a key system and ring to customize excellent. The contrasts and colors are slightly different than Fuji optics. Chromatic aberration almost absent on all focal lengths except 11mm where you can see aberrations, angles at large apertures on close distances, extreme light, light and dark, green and red, in my opinion nothing dramatic. For me this zoom as an above-average yield and also given the excellent performance on the corners fully usable at f2.8 with 40 MP I also find it gone for reportage especially in cities with architecture where thanks to focal lengths in combination f2.8 brightness I find it really good choice. Star effect I would say excellent and this despite only 7 slats. Flare? Physiological for a zoom we can't expect miracles, a zoom remains, some fixed lenses do better (ghosting effect), it suffers a can in backlight. The compactness and really impressive weight weighs less than the Fuji 18 1.4 and I have to say it feels camera body+optics less than a 1kg. Note: I don't know how it behaves on older Fujifilm camera body and on 26MP sensors tested on my X-H2. That millimeter less than the Fuji 10-24 on the wide-angle side is not few. Or I noticed that between RAW and JBEG files there is a big difference. In my opinion, some defects we find almost on all wide angles this Tamron wide-angle zoom even if third-party optics, highly recommended for very dense 40 MP APS-c sensors, Fujifilm motifs, bright f2.8, excellent corner performance, small, compact and light. sent on July 11, 2023 |
