Pros: Full-aperture sharpness at all focal lengths on a 40mpx sensor Lightweight

Cons: Excessive cost, seems less solid than the old aperture ring with less resistant clicks

Opinion: Of the previous model I had three examples that I have always appreciated on a 26 mega pixel sensor, a little less on the new sensors especially at 16mm where, this is of another level, modern and as sharpness it looks like a fixed. I don't understand the other review, probably being produced in the Philippines not all the specimens will come out equally correct. As for colors I preferred the old, more "vintage" and particular. The autofocus is fast but like the previous one I recommend it only to those looking for the top resolution, zero aberrations and more lightness but at a price too expensive for me in proportion to the previous one

Pros: Lighter than the previous version

Cons: AF noise, less sharpness than the previous version, even the least contrasted colors, price.

Opinion: Used on the Fuji xt5 and compared to the old version I own. The only positive drawback compared to the old version is the lower weight. For the rest I don't see any reason to switch to this new version, I can tell you that at full aperture at 16mm the old version seems sharper to me and that it gives a better complexion and colors. The construction in the old version seems more solid to me. To sum up, do I recommend the new version switch? For me, no.

Pros: It is small, light and better than the previous one

Cons: No one for what is around, but if they had done it F2 we would have had a lens perhaps heavier, perhaps more expensive but an excellence within everyone's reach

Opinion: taken for Black Friday, damn monkeys, but I don't regret it at all. I had the old version that I sold last year just to buy this. Unlike the first one you mount it on an XT series camera and there are no imbalance problems, only this is worth the money it costs. The quality is the usual, perhaps more contrasting and with better colors. in my opinion it loses compared to the first one at 16 mm. even closing to f8 it remains poor compared to the other focal lengths. better at 55mm and the blurry is softer. at 23 he plays with the 23 mm f 1.4 WR and at 35 he tears up the legendary 35 f 1.4 . In video it is a pleasure, continuous autofocus of the highest level. In short, Fujifilm has never disappointed with red badges and this time it has not done so either.

Pros: Compactness, very light, dials, sharpness in general, 11 blades, minimum distance, AF, colors, bokeh, star effect, decreatable button, very small lens hood not bulky and it also seems excellent to me, it is part of the best Fujifilm zooms.

Cons: Perhaps extreme sharpness, new generation optics optimized for the new 40MP APS-c sensor, a super perfect optics, not everyone loves these features, those looking for old type lenses with character, this zoom I would say not indicated. Ring to adjust apertures maybe too soft happens with cold temperatures it becomes soft. Or found a slight AF noise when turning on and off on strange camera body but maybe normal AF motor nothing negative. Serial number pasted.

Opinion: The 16-55 MK II is really a top lens, great AF, very good hold against light and nice star effect. The zoom is even smaller and more compact than I thought, this is not comparable with the old version, the zoom rings are just perfect without tearing, everything is perfect, will the construction be made of plastic?, I don't know, but unlike the previous version which felt more stable, more metal. The filter ring at the front is made of metal so very well made. I think it's really a successful shot from Fujifilm, so if you want to be light and shoot compact and still have the f2.8 aperture with you really well done. Be careful, the differences with the best Fujifilm fixed lenses are minimal, not to say marginal, excellent performance, very high even higher than some fixed lenses, and even the Bokeh seems very noble to me for a zoom, obviously the zoom cannot compete with a fixed lens with f1.2/1.4 aperture, it detaches the foreground much more. The only questionable con in my opinion, I see a question mark on the sharpness and the ring to adjust apertures at cold temperatures becomes very soft. It is probably produced only in a small part in Japan, so no longer Made in Japan, too bad the serial number glued in that way where with high temperatures it comes off on this point, I remain critical. I have complained for many years about the previous version, too bulky and heavy, with this new version things change radically, it becomes a transportable optic even for very long outings, ideal for trekking and travel, this I think is a great advantage compared to the previous version. On some contrast edges, I noticed a bit more CA on the old lens, but even that in the completely non-critical range. Differences in bokeh: The new one looks a bit better in a direct comparison (f2.8 at 55mm). The handling is much more pleasant with the new lens. Size and weight just seem consistent. Summary: New can stay, it's a contemporary update, and I particularly like it with its size and weight. The lockable opening is a big plus when using the aperture on the camera (I prefer). The old one is going on the second-hand market, but it went very well. Purely from optical performance, a change is not absolutely necessary, anyone who claims otherwise either has a bad specimen or is deluding himself. A change from I to II cannot be justified in terms of price/performance. My personal opinion Fujifilm has done a great job for me ultra recommended this zoom even if not really cheap but unfortunately period where everything increases it will be very difficult to find in a short period cheap opportunities regarding this zoom 16-55 MK II. I confirm, after further tests, extraordinary zoom with ultra sharpness, compact with beautiful colors, even bokeh rendering up close or made comparisons with the best Fujifilm fixed lenses, but I must say the differences are marginal, visible only at considerable magnifications at full aperture, angles, but no one will ever notice any difference, thanks to Fujifilm.
