![]() | Nikon Z8 Pros: Traking - Robustness and compactness Cons: No mechanical shutter - File quality - Batteries that wear out immediately - Unwatchable viewfinder Opinion: A great camera for what it costs, solid, compact, fast, has a good autofocus, too bad for the unwatchable viewfinder for a camera of this level, it has a very low resolution and internally very small. Another flaw the files that come out are not up to the 850, too bad for the pre capture only in jpeg ... for the rest nothing to say, sent on January 23, 2025 |
![]() | Canon EOS R5 Mark II Pros: Super fast AF - autofocus with eye - pre capture - no longer heats up like the old r5 - possibility to take photos and videos at the same time - staked sensor Cons: switch for ignition in an awkward position, I can't find anything else Opinion: The best camera currently on the market for nature photography! it easily beats Z9/Z8 and Alpha1 giving them a good gap, both in autofocus and innovations. Everything that was wrong with the R5 has been fixed and enhanced, integrating new technologies and functions. The photographic quality itself has improved by a small percentage, in the R5 Mark II the photos are sharper, crispier and not muddled like the R5 (you notice it only if you crop more than 200%), the dynamic range has improved by a small percentage, you can recover the micro contrast well for overexposure, Something that with R5 was more difficult (you only notice it if you crop over 100%) what really changes is the staked 30fps sensor - a really fast autofocus, never seen such a fast autofocus, superior to Z9 and R3 fantastic viewfinder - ability to make 2k videos at 230fps or 8k raw 60fps - the camera heats up much but much less!! - Slightly increased stabilization. Great feature for taking photos and videos together. What else can I say, Canon has churned out a gem at the right price and totally backwards compatible from EF mark ii lenses upwards !! Great with 200-800!! I will place it next to my R7 sent on August 28, 2024 |
![]() | Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM Pros: Weight & Size Cons: Price, Minimal Blur Opinion: Good lens for those who want to travel light, too bad for the price not justified! Now with the release of the 200-800mm superior in all, the 100-500mm has had a collapse in sales resulting in a monstrous drop in price, now new costs 2400 euros when 5/6 months ago it was 2950 euros if not more. Otherwise it behaves like the improved 100-400 and with RF mount gains 100mm but loses 2/3 of a stop at full aperture 400mm f5.6 vs 500mm f7.1 improved dust seals! sent on March 28, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EF 300mm f/4.0 L IS USM Pros: Portability - Built-in lens hood - F4 - Minimum focusing distance 1.5 meters Cons: for current cameras a bit slow for dynamic situations - a bit soft at f4 Opinion: Excellent lens to start with also associated with APSC compatible with 1.4x EsExtend Mark II (not III associate the color!) currently in the used it is between 600/700 euros excellent deal to start photographing animals, of other Leni at that price do not exist. I've had it for years, I enjoyed it! Then I gave it away for the 70-200 2.8 Mark II sharper brighter lens with stabilizer great for video and photos sent on March 05, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EF 600mm f/4 L IS II USM Pros: Photographic quality, Blur greater than the other lenses 500mm f4 - 400mm f2.8 - 300mm f2.8, in fact it is the lens that blurs the most of all, Stabilization excellent, Autofocus speed. Cons: None other than the weight, but it weighs as much as the 400mm f2.8 II Opinion: The lens par excellence, the 600mm is the most powerful lens in terms of optical quality, autofocus speed, blur, zoom. Compared to the younger siblings. Lens that doesn't need an extender, it brings everything closer with a spectacular micro contrast!! The lens allows a multiplication with an excellent 1.4x becoming an 840mm f5.6 (obviously with the depth of field of a 600mm f4 higher than all lenses) without loss of sharpness!! sent on February 22, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS II USM Pros: AF Speed, Versatility (better fixed to use with extender than its bigger brothers), Weight, Blurry, Sharper than the new RF 100-300 Cons: Only flaw, Needs adapter for RF system (Works great) Opinion: Great For nature photography, I prefer it over its older brothers since it is the sharpest of the 4, so it allows you to use the extenders with full versatility, for example I compared on you tube (Elia Dallari channel) the 300mm f2.8 II with 2x extender (600mm f5.6) vs the 600mm f4 II, the difference in Sharpness is really imperceptible at 500% the blur is slightly higher in the 600 f4 (it's the lens that blurs Most of all) but the 600mm f4 is slow to use handheld, bulky to carry, weighs almost 2 kg more, costs more, minimum focusing distance 4.5m compared to the 2 meters of the 300mm multiplied (600mm f5.6) for confident animals with the 300mm you can get closer and blur more. The 600f4 on the other hand is the lens that digests extenders the least for a physical matter (internal lens size with more glass). Also, nowadays, with cameras getting denser and denser in megapixels, focal length is not as important as it used to be. Today, versatility wins! sent on February 05, 2024 |
![]() | Canon RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM Pros: Autofocus Speed - Sharpness - Versatility (since with a single lightweight and portable lens, you have from 200mm to 800mm) qualitatively superior to 100-500mm for animal photography. Cons: Zoom with external excursion (the only solution to reduce weight and bulk) Opinion: I've had this lens for about a week, used to the fixed 300mm 2.8 400mm 2.8 - 500mm f4 - 600mm f4 (beautiful lenses but today not very versatile) I needed a wide zoom for wandering hunting to accompany my fixed 2.8 lens. Extremely versatile lens in terms of focal length, weight and size. Really sharp and a very fast autofocus thanks to full RF system compatibility, sharper than the 100 500 RF. This lens should be understood as a 150-600mm f4.5-6.3 with integrated 1.4x multiplier = 200-800mm f6.3-9, but with the advantage of being integrated, therefore sharper, faster and better stabilization. Excellent to associate with R5 or R7 For those who are "afraid" of ISO at 800mm f9 calculations that compared to 500mm 7.1 (2/3 stop difference) are widely exceeded by 300mm more, ergo you avoid a lot cropping of the photo, with a lower ISO noise. Or at 455mm the 200-800mm is still at 7.1 (45mm doesn't change anything on 500mm) Rating for animal photography: RF 200-800mm = 9.1 RF100-500mm = 7.9 (N.B. these ratings are based on my experience in nature photography, taking into account the needs in the field, having as a reference the best lenses on the market, including the new fixed RF telephoto lenses) If you are interested in seeing the review on You Tube in Italian = Canale Elia Dallari sent on February 05, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EOS R7 Pros: ISO, AF, Speed, Video, 2 sd slots, adapter included Cons: Like all the R5 R6 sisters, resistant polymer construction materials, dimensions (we wait for battery grip) Opinion: The evolution of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II, 33 megapixels in a latest generation apsc sensor, with a surprising ISO seal, equal if not higher than an R5 with the same crop. impressive rate of fire, amazing videos. Congratulations to Canon. The relatively low price, commercial tactic to bring in canon many new customers. machine from 2,500 euros of actual value, I speak as a former owner of R6 and tested R5. sent on July 23, 2022 |
