Pros: Size, Weight, Construction, I.S., ease of use.

Cons: None to date.

Opinion: I have the 24-105, and 500mm and needed something in between. I had the 100-400 in the past and sold it. I liked the 100-400 for versatility but I didn't seem to get a lot of keeper shots with it. I choose this lens for the weight and price. I backpack a lot and need a lens of this length for nature shots without a lot of weight. I have been very satisfied with this lens so far I have taken very good macro shots in my wifes flower bed and great sport shots at my Granddaughters soccer games. I would recommend this lens to Juza followers.

Pros: Excellent sharpness, excellent flare resistance, excellent yield also with the 1.4 X II extender, non-existent distortion, fast and precise AF, excellent RR, excellent construction, also relatively light, very manageable, archaic stabilizer but that still allows it to be used quite easily even at 1/8 sec. freehand, a gem of other times finally the telescopic and lockable lampshed in the working position.

Cons: Basically none, in limit conditions just a minimum of lateral color when used with the 1.4 X II extender.

Opinion: A simple goal, really very solid, on which you can always rely, infatible as a mule... in the truest sense of the word, also extremely manageable by virtue of its very low weight and size. In short, an objective that perhaps does not make us cry out for the miracle, but from which it is almost impossible to separate.

Pros: Lightweight and compact (to be a 300 mm.); Very sharp since f. 4, but if you close just a stop it becomes a razor. Exceptional contrast; Mr Bocke; Af excellent; built-in lampshon.

Cons: Against??

Opinion: Just to mention the last use last weekend: I was in an equestrian field to resume a grand jump prize and took with me both 2.8 and 4. Starting with the most expensive 2.8, after an hour of freehand use, I had a very sore shoulder and arm. I decide to try the 4 (I start that despite the excellent light conditions, I decided to work at the maximum opening with both objectives, in order to blur the backgrounds and enhance the figures in the foreground. The bocke of the 4, although a less creamy thread, literally amazed me. I have made the decision that, if I do not have to have very poor light problems, I will only take the 4 with me from now on. Perfect optics. Sharpness, micro contrast and stunning bocke. You can see my gallery here with some photos of the event. Having bought it for only 600 euros used, but kept as new, if I compare it to the price of 2.8, I almost run away from crying. I will not sell the brightest f. 2.8 to keep me only this, but the temptation I confess I had it!

Pros: light, stabilized, retractable, sharp, almost macro light. used at affordable prices

Cons: lacks contrast to f4 duplicated with both 1.4 and 2x

Opinion: usable at 300 at all openings up to 1/15 times on monopiede (freehand depends on Parkinson's). usable at 420 at all openings up to 1/20 times on single-seater with little contrast to f4 (becomes f5.6) but acceptable. usable at 600 to f5.6 and 8 (becomes f11 and f16)up to 1/30 times on monopiede. light to carry in the backpack in the mountains with fixed mounted the multiplier 1.4 has 420/5.6 stabilized enough for animals in the woods and ungulates in the open field.

Pros: Weight ,compact, stabilized, built-in lampshade, macro, minimum distance of focus.

Cons: F4 ? But I don't think that's a problem. Lack of tropicalization? But I don't think it's a problem So... nothing relevant.

Opinion: I recently bought alongside the heaviest, versatile and sharpest 70-200 f2.8 is. Excellent lens, very sharp when used smooth but also with multiplier 1.4x does not disfigure. On apsc bodies it becomes a 480mm. It's stabilized and that's an advantage. Years ago I had the 400 f5.6 sold after 10 days precisely because it was not stabilized. The stabilizer is old-fashioned, recovers 2 stops and a bit noisy but no making videos does not create problems for me. Excellent the slightest focus that allows you to take macro style photos. I am very satisfied with the purchase and since canon has been cataloging this optics for more than 25 years and has not yet provided a second series it means that it basically likes it.
