![]() | Canon EF 50mm f/1.0 L USM Pros: Blurred, inimitable three-dimensionality, AF, value increasing, unique lens Cons: Cons are subjective Opinion: Sharpness is low, chromatic aberrations are important, lens flares are always around the corner, vignetting is very marked. Can we call these defects? Probably yes, but by combining all these "defects" with the blur and three-dimensionality and together with the aspherical lens, you create an image that I like to call "magical". Do you want a sharp and flawless photo? Choose another lens. Want to create magic? it's the right lens. Does it make sense to buy it in 2024? It makes more sense to buy it today than it was released in 1989 because today combined with a mirrorless camera the focus is always precise and at f1.0 the accuracy must be absolute or the subject is out of focus, the AF is faster than on a reflex, I use the adapter with variable nd filter so I can shoot without problems under the sun at f1.0. Poor sharpness? Nowadays it's no longer a problem, using programs like Topaz AI, you increase the sharpness superbly. We'll probably never see an autofocus f1.0 again, reading on the net Canon made this lens as a challenge to Nikon to show what they were capable of, and I guess the results speak for themselves. ![]() | Canon RF 800mm f/11 IS STM Pros: 800mm! Compact, lightweight. Cons: Ineffective stabilization, fixed F11 Opinion: Often with photographer friends who do naturalistic I ask: but with your sigma / tamron 150-600 on duty, at what focal length do you shoot? And them: at 600mm and more crop. Wanting to start doing naturalistic again and photographing well the moon, Jupiter and Saturn I decided to take this 800mm "pocket". Beautiful sharp, fast, freely handheld shots without problems. Beware of the times, however, even at 1/400 1/500 the blur is easy to find. Photographing in a zoo at 1/640 many photos were shakes. In any case absolutely recommended sent on May 29, 2023 |
![]() | Canon RF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro IS USM Pros: Sharp, 1.4x magnification, stabilized Cons: at the moment none Opinion: I went from ef 180mm macro 3.5 to this. Surely the weight and size have slimmed down a lot. I like the fact that you can zoom in at 1.4x although at 100mm very close with animals or insects is difficult. While photographing a spider on a plant, the spider often jumped on my lens. With the 180 it didn't happen because you were more distant. In any case, the sharpness is excellent, it is not easy to work with a large magnification because you have very little focus but this is a challenge that I have to overcome. I tried to use the blur control but honestly I don't find much usefulness. You leave in the middle and stop. sent on May 29, 2023 |
![]() | Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Pros: Sharp, compact, stabilized, macro, f1.8 Cons: sharpness not at the top at TA, cost Opinion: I went from the canon ef 24mm 1.4 ii to this and I must say that the blurred and sharpness of the old L series can be seen, not so much but it makes you feel a little the lack of 1.4. But you have a small, light and stabilized lens in your hand. The AF works well, not lightning fast but at this focal length it is fine. Probably the price is high for what it offers. Personally I like vignetting sent on May 29, 2023 |
![]() | Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Pros: Lightweight, sharp, economical Cons: nothing for me Opinion: Purchased at 160€ new, together with the R8 is a crazy combo. It becomes a compact. the af is fast, follows very well a child who runs, it is super light and sharp, not at the levels of the L series but we are talking about an economic objective. The hood is missing but I do not see the strict need for it. Even going for a walk put the car and the 50ino in the pocket of the jacket and go. sent on April 27, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EOS R8 Pros: Compactness, record weight, complete with all functions Cons: maybe battery life Opinion: Taken on day one, I'm testing it and I was immediately struck by the lightness and AI of autofocus. Trying with a child who runs never misses the focus .. shooting at 1.8! For now they have it at 50 1.8 and practically becomes a small pocket monster. Setting the automatic upload of raw photos to Lightroom makes everything even more convenient. Super recommended. sent on April 23, 2023 |
![]() | Canon 1DX Pros: Being a series 1!, Still current today, at the highest levels throughout Cons: Maybe weight Opinion: I bought it on day One in 2012 and after 10 years I bought it back, it is robust, heavy, leaves incredible feedback in hand. The controls are excellent and comfortable, the quality and the burst make you dream. I will probably sell it only for the fact that it is heavy and I will probably switch to the RF system but nothing to envy to recent machines. Highly recommended again in 2023 sent on March 04, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 180mm f/3.5 L Macro USM Pros: Razor-sharp, 180mm, bright Cons: Af a bit dated Opinion: Fabulous macro, quite large and heavy but on the other hand there are few lenses that reach this macro focal length, the af is quite good. 1/1 ratio, I had fun. Unfortunately, after the initial euphoria, he is stuck in his backpack. It is mainly used to make close-ups of animals that would be frightened if you approached with a shorter focal length. sent on March 04, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 L II USM Pros: Very sharp already at 1.4, af, weight Cons: Nobody Opinion: I was looking for a bright wide angle. I couldn't take better, you make passes, day by night, you do portraits set at 1.4 and it's pure magic. It is very sharp at TA, L is fast, it is all in all small and light for a 1.4, the final wide angle. In my opinion it envies many goals just released. Highly recommended sent on March 04, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 L USM Pros: blurry, pre-owned price Cons: Slowness af Opinion: Finally I bought this lens and you fall in love immediately. When you photograph at 1.2 with this beast you don't want to use anything else or close the aperture. It weighs, it is big, old, but still today it makes the newly released optical shoes, recommended considering the price of the used. I would change it only x l rf 85 1.2. For portraitists it is the lens to take. sent on March 04, 2023 |
![]() | Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM Pros: Unbelievable quality for an optical so small and light! Af fast and accurate. Cons: Absolutely nothing Opinion: I purchased this along with the slow eos m. There is everything in one hand and in your pocket .. Practical and easy and you have a 35mm (equivalent) f2! I use it as a younger sister of the 70d but this always carry with you! Excellent quality of construction and photos. Highly recommended! You use it when you do not want to carry the bag or when you go to the beach or in places where the SLR is uncomfortable purse .. For example, in a marathon .. In a mountain climbing .. Or running in the evening .. Magic sent on June 03, 2014 |
![]() | Canon EOS M Pros: Image quality, lightweight SLR in all respects, and small conpatta Cons: Absolutely no! Opinion: I bought it as a second body for when I go for a walk or when I walk around without having behind the bag with the 1DX and objectives .. The various hold in one hand .. Small and excellent quality .. Always with you .. ISO high .. Settings .. 18mpx SLR normal .. I am very happy .. Highly recommended! I also took the adapter to put the optical ef .. And use the 35 1.4 or 85 1.8 is really incredible for a camera body so small sent on February 24, 2014 |
![]() | Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Pros: Nitidetta, aperture, build quality, durability, af, fast, cheap, works fine on APS-H Cons: nothing .. a little vignette on APS-H to 18mm but it is normal Opinion: I sold my 24-70 2.8L for this lens .. and I must say that there is a difference .. in addition to the brightness of course but also the amazing quality even at full aperture .. I use it on a 1D MarkIII .. then APS-H and I must say that I could not be happier .. side by side with a 85 for six portraits affixed .. :) Usually robust .. a lens extraordinary .. Highly recommended :) sent on July 24, 2013 |
