canon_efm22_f2Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM

Pros: Size, weight, focal equivalent to 35mm, brightness, metal construction.

Cons: Nobody. Comparing it to 35 mm huge and expensive makes little sense.

Opinion: In my opinion it is the lens to have of the M. system fully reflects its philosophy of compactness, transportability and value for money. The equivalent 35 mm focal makes it the perfect lens for street for which it is not necessary to enlarge 100% to make fleas on extreme sharpness or other similar meads. Mounted on the M50 it is a pleasure to carry it with you, practically in your pocket or in a small pouch, a perfect set up to always have the car with you. The image quality is good, I see a slight dark red dominant but nothing worrying, very little distortion, few aberrations (try the sigma for Canon m, however spectacular, to see real aberrations). And then it's F2, so you shoot even with little light. I also have the lampshed (sigh... a ring, there will be 10 of us in the world to have it) and a protective filter, always mounted, and I can still place the cap without any problem. Absolutely recommended!

canon_efm15-45Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM

Pros: Compactness, weight, colors, stabilization, focal equivalent to 24-70, cost.

Cons: None, bearing in mind the market share to which it is addressed. Maybe the ring of manual focus very narrow, but you get used to it.

Opinion: Taken in kit with the m50 I initially set it aside to make room for the Sigma 30mm F1.4 because I preferred its greater sharpness and brightness. In the meantime for the wider focal points I used on loan a 17-50 L f4 but when returning it, which unfortunately always comes, I had fond of the wide-angle side and so I reassembled it on the machine and automatically re-evaluated it (or maybe evaluated really for the first time). First of all, the weight, just over 100g (!) and the compactness, fit perfectly to the size of the m50 (unlike any fantastic lens of the L series). It seems to be going around with a compact when you actually have a 24 mp apsc and a 24-70 equivalent, and the real 24mm on apsc are not bad at all. To make street is perfect, the whole thing is in a pocket and you go virtually unnoticed while hanging it around your neck: I imposed the remote shot from the mobile phone and I shoot on the street pretending to be lobotomized from the phone, which is easy since I really am. On the sharpness has already been said all in the excellent review of Simone that precedes this, I could not say better. As for the colors the yield is excellent, right from Canon, and in this one looks a lot like the beautiful 22 and the 32 (but they are not stabilized and what you earn in the opening you lose it in time...). The Sigma achieves impressive sharpness but the colors are much cooler, there is no comparison in the slightest. It's amazing how goals affect the rendering of colors with the same body machine, I always wonder... As I wrote in the cons, it is clear that it is an economic kit objective but contextualizing it in the market segment to which it draws, newbies or little more, it is in my opinion an excellent object, small, light and with an optical yield more than dignified. I'll take a 16-35 L f4 is soon but I won't give it away anyway given the huge comfort that is unparalleled.

canon_eos_m50Canon EOS M50

Pros: Everything, considering the market segment to which it is aimed.

Cons: Nothing, considering it's an aps-c.

Opinion: I found this machine for a trade-in with musical instrumentation that I had put up for sale on other shores. I looked at a bit of reviews online and I said 'why not?'. I have always been a fan of photography, as a user, and I took the opportunity to try to move on to the active side. Never had a choice, it was more a good choice. I must admit that I was intrigued by the video side, given the video recensions of the very gassed youtuber of stocacchio but then, taken in hand, I only started to take pictures, entering a very dangerous vortex (for the wallet for sure) but very funny. For videos I keep using the rooms of my partner who is a professional video maker. What to say, the only flaws I can find stem from the fact that it's an entry-level aps-c and maybe, but I stress perhaps, a second ring would be useful. Otherwise it's a real machine that takes real photos and I'll change it when I can say that I pushed it to its limits, which for now are still far away. The features are great and 360 degrees: the point of focus selectable via touch screen is fine (for those who complain about moving it with the nose just set the dial in the upper right and the problem is solved), with the evf I have no problem and I never tire my eyesight, focus peaking is very useful with manual lenses, the various settings of the AF all work great (points are distributed all over the frame) , the burst is very fast etc etc help me to talk about it well, Wi-Fi very useful to shoot remotely with mobile, windable screen... It is clear that in the context of switching to full frame I am buying only ef optics but with adapter they work perfectly and indeed, with good optics it becomes even more fun (not that the ef-m are bad: I tried the 22 f2 and the 32 F1.4 is fine, the kit 15-45 a little less but it is microscopic is stabilized...). The advice to anyone like me who is approaching the magical world of photography, is a great tool with modern, user friendly features, with which to approach with ease and portability to the study of matter. Say hello!

sigma_30_f1-4dnSigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN C

Pros: Good sharpness at 1.4, outstanding at 2.8. Compactness, solid lampshade, bokeh, brightness, aesthetically very well done, PRICE.

Cons: The only relevant flaw are the full-opening chromatic aberrations in strong backlight, both purple and green, and which to be corrected can sometimes split the contours. Closing the diaphragm, which should almost always be done since at 1.4 the pdc can contain a sole at most, the problem is greatly reduced. The color yield is slightly more "cold" than the Canon 32mm 1.4 but nothing that can not be solved with a good color profile in development, and then it still costs half or maybe less...

Opinion: Bought as a portrait optics/all-rounder for a Canon M50, with its equivalent 45mm type it behaves really well and is worth all the money spent, which was really few (200 euros) for a used that looked new. At 1.4 it allows you to keep isO low in situations of low light (the aps-c you know that they suffer from high ISO) sacrificing a bit of sharpness that at all opening is already good. Closing a few stops becomes sharp. Given the focus, you can really do anything. Among the few photos I have uploaded, if you feel like and time to look at us, you will find quite disparate examples of the possible applications of this lens. Recommended across the board.

canon_70-200_f4Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM

Pros: Colors, weight, sharpness already at F4, blurred, fluidity of the dials, speed and silence of the focus, value for money, L series.

Cons: No one who does not know at the time of purchase. And especially none in relation to the price at which it is located (paid 300 euros used...).

Opinion: I took this lens a while ago in search of a "cheap" but quality zoom to pair with my M50 and I'm more than satisfied, I would say I'm excited about it. Being the M50 an aps-c the focals clearly stretch becoming type 116-320 so what you lose on the short side is regained abundantly on the long side. The M50 is a very small machine, it does not have in the least the grip of a reflex, but nevertheless this 70-200, being very light and relatively small in size, pairs perfectly with the machine body not at all unbalanced (considering also the extra cm of the adapter). The 24-105 L that I have, in comparison, is a very uncomfortable boulder, not to mention the quality yield not even remotely comparable. As for the tripod ring, having the hook on the adapter and being the lens very light (in relation to the focal), you do not feel the need at all, the weight does not pull forward and remains perfectly balanced. On image quality, sharpness, blurred, precision, speed etc everything has already been said, FANTASTIC. One of those rare cases where yield far exceeds spending. Strange.
