![]() | Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Pros: Size, brightness, price, overall sharpness Cons: Chromatic aberrations and edge sharpness Opinion: Fantastic lens in relation to its price, really a must buy for those who want a telephoto not too pushed and with a very pleasant blur. The auto focus is excellent, aberrations are present when there is strong contrast but can be solved in post with a little work. Sharp enough, the edges aren't always perfect, but in the end if you're using it for portraiture it's not that crucial. sent on November 26, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0 L USM Pros: Unbeatable current quality/price, L-series construction, L-series colours Cons: In relation to the price I would say none Opinion: The 17-40 to date is probably the most affordable Canon wide-angle for full frame for those who want to do landscape without spending a fortune. The construction is impeccable (even better than today's), it has excellent sharpness (especially closing a little and on sensors that are not too dense). The colors it gives are fantastic, the autofocus is perfect. Simply a must buy, I replaced it with the 16-35 f4 because of the stabilizer and the superior sharpness already at TA, but I can assure you that the 17-40 is still a great lens today. Last consideration goes to its incredible backlight hold, it is almost impossible to have flare even with full sun in the frame. sent on November 17, 2024 |
![]() | Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Pros: Sharpness, brightness, construction Cons: Maybe the weight if you have to carry it with you for a long time Opinion: This lens is amazing in terms of sharpness and brightness. Distortion is well controlled and quality is basically uniform across the frame. I think it's the best fixed and ultra-bright wide-angle for Canon at "human" prices. Clearly it does not mount filters, except for plate filters, given the shape of the front lens. Size and weight are important but if you want this quality at this focal length you have to get used to it sent on November 14, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EF 135mm f/2.0 L USM Pros: Magic blur, fixed lens quality, construction Cons: Maybe the absence of the stabilizer, but given the design date I don't think it can be considered a real con Opinion: I had wanted this lens for a long time, I finally bought it and was not disappointed. The shots it gives are fantastic, the blur is superb and the colors are gorgeous. I'm not a portrait photographer but for me it's a must-have lens! The project is dated but it still defends itself greatly, especially on sensors that are not too dense like the one of my 6D Mark II sent on November 13, 2024 |
![]() | Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM Pros: Sharpness, compactness, value for money Cons: Basically nothing Opinion: Coming from the Canon 17-40 f4 (which is still a great lens today) I expected a leap in quality and so it was. The 16-35 f4 is very sharp throughout the zoom range, low distortion and more than good backlight holding. I think it's the best Canon wide-angle for FF when you consider the price. The maximum aperture limited to f4 is not a limit for me, given the presence of the stabilizer that never hurts and since I still have a Sigma 20 1.4 in my kit that I use when I need an ultra-bright wide angle. Highly recommended! sent on November 13, 2024 |
![]() | Canon 6D Mark II Pros: FF sensor, file quality, robust construction, tropicalization, available optics, current price Cons: For the use I make of it, practically none Opinion: I've been using this machine for several months and I was coming from a 1300d, so the jump was huge. I mainly photograph landscapes, so I can't express too much about the goodness of the autofocus and the distribution of the relative points, however I can say that for the use I make of it and for the few portraits I have taken, it still seems more than good to me. Clearly, on that side, you can't expect the features now present on all mirrorless cameras (e.g. Eye Focus in the viewfinder). The sensor seems great to me, although some complain of a worse dynamic range compared to the first version of the 6D; The files it produces are of great quality and widely "workable" in post production, maybe you can have small difficulties only in case of extreme recoveries on the shadows (but it is something that I personally almost never do, I only recover a few stops, I do not pretend to shoot underexposing 5 stops and then recover the photo). The sealing at high ISO is excellent, now with the noise reduction improved through Lightroom or Photoshop AI you can easily take photos, exposing well during shooting, at 3200/6400 ISO without losing too much fine details and without having too much penalizing noise. The range of lenses available on this camera is clearly infinite, having EF mount and the price at which it is currently found, both in the new and in the used, in my opinion make it the perfect FF for those like me who do not want to spend a fortune on the camera body, preferring to invest in the lenses to match. I highly recommend it. sent on January 04, 2024 |
![]() | Canon 1300D Pros: Good sensor, quality/price, ease of use, battery life Cons: High ISO seal (normal for an APS-C), slightly dark viewfinder Opinion: This is the first REFLEX I bought and after 3 years of use I think I can make a reliable review of it. The machine is perfect to start with, it is very simple and intuitive in use and produces excellent RAW. Of course it has limitations, normal for the price range it was positioned on, but it still has everything you need to start shooting. When paired with good lenses it doesn't have too much to envy to much more expensive APS-C bodies, especially in daytime shots. The noise unfortunately begins to be annoying over 800 ISO and already at 1600 ISO the finest details are lost and are not recoverable in post production. Unbeatable quality/price. sent on December 30, 2020 |
![]() | Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Pros: Compactness, value for money Cons: In relation to the price virtually none Opinion: Great lens if you think that, taking advantage of some offers, you buy new at a price around 120-130 Euros with canon Pass Italia warranty; it's a very sharp lens all over the frame already at full open. Chromatic aberrations are practically absent and even the distortion is not very pronounced; the STM autofocus is reliable, quiet and fast even if, to be very fussy, sporadically errs to properly hook the subject. The blur is good and an additional point in favor of this lens can be the reduced distance of maf. Definitely to buy if you are looking for a bright fixture on APSC without spending too much. sent on November 26, 2019 |
![]() | Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Pros: Focal Range, autofocus, construction, value for money and brightness Cons: A 10mm Soft at the edges and chromatic aberrations Opinion: I use this lens on a Canon 1300d and it's probably the best wide angle for Canon APSC in relation to the value for money. The lens looks very well giving you a feeling of solidity and build quality, the focus motor is fast, quite accurate and very quiet. The Sigma 10-20 is a bright and crisp lens, though it is advisable to close a few stops to get the most quality on the entire frame. Used at 10-12mm The distortion is felt quite strongly (but I think it is normal at these focal lengths); If you shoot at 10mm or TA the sharpness is great only in the center because the edges record a progressive drop in quality (no problem if you use other lengths). In situations of strong contrast, at the extremes of the focal range, there are chromatic aberrations a bit ' annoying but still solvable quite simply in post production. Vignetting little present and very good the tightness in backlight. Quite heavy (almost 550g) but still in the norm for a wide angle zoom f 3.5. Hood and protective bag included in the package. Overall I am definitely satisfied and I would strongly recommend this lens to anyone looking for a wide-angle zoom for APSC of overall quality higher than the entry level Canon 10-18mm. sent on January 04, 2019 |
