sigma_dn16_f1-4dcSigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN C

Pros: Sharpness on the whole frame, Bokeh, Colors, Autofocus, price.

Cons: not stabilized, heavier than direct competitors.

Opinion: Beautiful lens that - with the Sony A6500 - gave me (and gives) so much satisfaction both photos and videos. Equivalent to a 24mm, it is razor-sharp and has beautiful bokeh. The construction is excellent, solid and - perhaps - even too simple (there are no controls, see the "cons"). The pros: Photo side: sharp throughout the frame, in landscape photos it returns images with beautiful colors. Flare and ghosting are always well controlled, chromatic aberrations practically absent. Given the focal length and the aperture of the aperture, it is also well suited to portraits set: even in this field I consider it an excellent lens. Video side: Mounted on the A6500 with a Zhiyun M2S Crane, it returned stunning footage in super sharp 4k25p in any situation, from full sun to dark night, helping the camera to use low iso. The focus has always been precise even in low light. And the bokeh... Well, I think it's spectacular. To these "pros" I add a consideration: it is a lens that (1) if you travel "with the family" mounts it up and you do everything with beautiful results without feeling the need to use anything else except in particular situations; (2) if the journey is "photographic" the speech is the same, but perhaps mounting it on a second body. In short, it is a fixed "all-rounder" of excellent quality. The cons: It's heavy. It weighs twice as much as the direct competitor Sony 15mm f / 1.4 (but also costs less eh) to be almost at the limit for use with the gimbal Zhiyun M2S Crane: it is still a reasonably light setup to take on vacation without any problem and in any case it is much lighter than an equivalent FF setup. It is not stabilized but if like me you have a camera with stabilized sensor is fine too. It completely lacks controls: aperture, buttons and distance scales, it only has the manual focus ring.

sony_e11_f1-8Sony E 11mm f/1.8

Pros: Excellent sharpness on the whole frame even at full aperture, Brightness, Tropicalized, Excellent lightness and compactness, Price

Cons: Distortion (but acceptable and correctable).

Opinion: Bought for landscape photography, I am very, very satisfied with the purchase. It is a super light and compact lens, consistent with the philosophy of an APS-C system (which - normally - is a lighter and more transportable system than an FF) and despite this it is very sharp throughout the frame. The aperture is a godsend for an APS-C sensor and, thanks to the short focal length, it is possible to work easily in hyperfocal even at full aperture: this makes it a lens to be seriously considered for those who want to do night photography or in any case in low light with APS-C systems. In comparison to the Samayang 12mm f/2, I find the Sony sharper and more comfortable to use, also - even if it seems little - I find those extra degrees of angle of view useful. To these pros is added tropicalization. As for the cons, I have not found any. Personally I would have preferred a 10mm but you can't have everything. It is obviously a lens that, being fixed, is generically less versatile than a zoom but that's fine with me.
