sony_a7r_vSony A7r V

Pros: Autofocus, Viewfinder, Focus Bracketing, fully adjustable display.

Cons: No key backlight, battery consumption.

Opinion: I am extremely satisfied with this camera, I come from an A7RIV (A) and immediately after an A7IV, here I feel really complete. The autofocus is excellent, tested on both people and animals and birds, it is positioned on the eye and does not lose it at all. As soon as the subject turns his back the focus is positioned on the head and shoulders, recognizing the subject anyway. Doing mainly landscape, we can finally enjoy the focus bracketing function that automatically shoots with the focus from the nearest subject to infinity. The display now orients in all directions, with the RIV I had to lie on the ground for the vertical and with the IV for the horizontal, excellent I would say. The menu, much talked about sony, I do not find it at all complex, similar to that of the IV and obviously evolved compared to the RIV, very fast in all its functions and pages. I have customized the various buttons I need, the personalized menu and I really never need anything else is all at my fingertips. The files ? in my humble opinion they are better than RIV, Much better than smooth IV....... the important size allows you to do what you want also in terms of CROP. I only have professional lenses, I believe this sensor works best with quality lenses. Yes, the battery in fact suffers a bit from the consumption of the camera in general but honestly if you have 2 or 3 behind I see few problems, after all I have always had more than one on the others. What about definitva ? It is a truly multi-purpose machine, if you do 90% birdlife in flight and very fast action obviously it is good that you buy an A1, but in any other field it is at ease, I am fully convinced. I believe that the camera is a mix between the RIV and the IV with adequate improvements and implementations, an important leap really. I will definitely keep this machine for a long time and I absolutely recommend buying !!!!

nikon_z14-24_f2-8Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S

Pros: Very light, small size, great sharpness, removable (double) lampshed.

Cons: Only the price

Opinion: Happy owner of this magnificent lens for a few days. The thing that immediately impressed me by opening the package was the very small size and a much lower weight than the predecessor of the F series. The lens in the front does not protrude much, indeed say very little and is supplied with a double light shield, one standard and one to use circular filters Ø122. The old 14-24 also had the odious problem of not being able to disassemble the lampshed, as well as an embarrassing weight. Now paired with my Z7II I find myself a much lighter backpack, for me this is a really important thing. Great sharpness, I still took a few shots to be able to fully judge his surrender but do you hear ? I made enough countersuns to understand that the flares problem that plagued the old 14-24, has almost zeroed. Something remains if in the frame the sun is lateral but always very controllable and circumscribed around the sun itself. For now I am very satisfied, soon I will test it (if they remove this cursed curfew) at night at the maximum opening, I am curious to see if they are manageable coma effect, astigmatism or other typical distortions outside the frames.

nikon_z7iiNikon Z7 II

Pros: Electronic viewfinder, quick menus, possibility of customization of menus, important variety of MAF systems, ergonomics and weight.

Cons: the display that can only be extracted and oriented for horizontal photos. If you shoot vertically, very low, you are forced to throw yourself on the ground.

Opinion: I recently owned this beautiful camera and come from a D850, so I dare say a respectable car. The Z7II immediately conquered me, for its ergonomics and for its fantastic menus. I admit that I was afraid, as the D850 has complete and well-positioned configuration buttons for quick use, well, the Z7II's "i" button was a wonderful surprise. It is possible to customize it in all ways and you can see it on the monitor but also inside the electronic viewfinder to modify it even during the shooting session without moving your head. There are also many MAF modes that I believe can cover all photographic specialties, for example I was impressed by the "lock on" chase on action photos, going so far as to customize even the 2 M1 and M2 buttons just to quickly switch between modes during the session. It has an incredible "H+" mode burst and especially with the typical mirrorless silence excellent in birdlife. For now I only have the native 24-70 2.8 for Z's, but the adapter quietly use all my old Nikon designed and also the classic 150-600 SIGMA without any problems. The overall weight, using the 24-70 is great, my backpack has lightened a lot. I am very satisfied, a step I should have taken earlier.
