canon_24-105stmCanon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM

Pros: Compactness, weight, sharpness, stabilization, ultra-fast and ultra-quiet autofocus

Cons: Light play of the front element

Opinion: Finally I found the handyman! With 6D + 6D MkII for work I use the 35mm f/2, the 16-35 f/4 and the 24-70 f/4 but for a long time I wanted a light all-rounder to carry with me on non-demanding occasions. I had tried an "old" 28-135 f / 3.5-5.6 found used little but I was not at all satisfied, I saw every photo inaccurate, kneaded, with sharpness only in the center and not even always. Last week I saw the 24-105 3.5-5.6 STM used at 260 Euro including shipping from TuttoFoto and I did not miss it. And I am more than satisfied! A sharpness that I did not even expect, I do not say up to the extreme angles but almost, a very fast and silent autofocus, so much so that in the very first shots (using it with glasses and not seeing very well in the viewfinder) I thought it was defective because it seemed to me it did not move. And yes, the front element has a slight backlash, but it is a defect over which you can pass without worrying, because the qualities are many. The aperture only 5.6 from 70mm up? It is not a defect because we already know it from the start, if you want brighter lenses there are, but they cost much more and weigh and clutter much more. Highly recommended!

canon_6d_mark_iiCanon 6D Mark II

Pros: File workability, automatic white balance, focus, battery life, adjustable screen, touch focus with live-view.

Cons: As for my use, at the moment no one.

Opinion: For six years I used the previous 6D, with satisfaction but also with some problems, already described in many messages of other users, for example: - Focus always perfect with the central and inaccurate point with the sides, especially in low light conditions, as was often the case in the evening photographing lamps in a furniture showroom. - Inaccurate and variable white balance between shots. I noticed the problem by photographing furniture in the same showroom, the wooden floor and furniture produced an unpleasant and heavy dominant yellow-orange on the white walls, which Then I always had to correct, differently between sequences of photos, with the help of the PhotoChecker. Shooting only in RAW you can intervene in post-production, rebalancing the color temperature even for sequences of shots, but it is still a hassle. ••• With the 6D Mk II, on the other hand, the automatic white balance is almost perfect, or requires small calibrations. All environments (the same ones I photographed before with 6D) appear with a more natural light, without obvious color dominants, in particular the walls appear much whiter even in newly opened shots with Lightroom, without any correction. That surprised me. ••• Focus in the MkII 6D is a whole different world than 6D. All points react smoothly even in low light conditions. I read that there are critics who say that they are too focused in the center, for me he complains about fat broth. For the moment that's it, since I only used it for the first photos of new furniture and furnishings. But even the customer immediately noticed the improvement already in the previews that I send them to make her choose the shots to be post-produced... "with the new machine you take better photos" he told me yesterday :-)

canon_6dCanon 6D

Pros: Ergonomics, image quality, high ISO hold

Cons: Automatic White Balancing

Opinion: I decided to write after reading the previous comment. I've been using the 6D for 5 years and I'm more than satisfied. I use it for work, then architecture and furniture but also for some wedding of friends, mainly with the 24-70 f/4, but also with 50mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/2. Arriving at the 6D from a 50D I first enjoyed the hold at high ISO, which I can safely set even to over 2000 without having too much noise (which however is easily deleteable with so many software). The only flaw I noticed is in the use with the automatic WB, just change the frame a little to have a different color temperature. Maybe he calculates it on the focus points?. But working exclusively in RAW is a minor problem because I can set the point of white ness at my leisure during the "development" for homogeneous groups of shots. Many complain about the poor quality of secondary focus points, but it is a defect that I have not noticed (perhaps because hardly photograph in low light?). I don't make videos, nor do burst photos so I don't express myself on these features.
