sony_16-50Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS

Pros: compact, light, stabilized

Cons: It is an optic provided in kit, simple, but you know it and you can not expect both higher optics (quality and cost)!

Opinion: It is an optic provided in kit and combined with an excellent APS-C (my a6400), almost given away (the optics). It is clear that such an optics goes to stifle the enormous potential and quality of the 6400, in fact it is not intended to accompany the APSC forever, it is destined to be replaced as soon as possible with a better performing lens (I replaced it with Zeiss 16_35 f./4, heaven on earth...). Nothing stratospheric, but knowing how to use it (studying it and understanding it and not using it to "nose" as many do and then complain) you get good results, very pleasant. You can use it quietly, for photos of "everyday" and also for some nice shots avoiding critical situations of light. Better to close by 1 stop and stay on the f./5.6/8 to have good/dignified photos, I would say even at the corners. It's fine if you want a pocket-sized system or almost a pocket. The stabilizer does its good work without any problems. The AF of the 6400 has not been affected in the slightest by the use of this optics, always as fast and precise as a razor. Paraluce: it exists on the market, but it is so thin (1 cm) that it is irrelevant. FILTERS: it has the ability to use them, but you do not find many on the market with what diameter (I put a simple UV). In the gallery I have a couple of MORAL photos: keep it for a while, but sooner or later you will have to replace it. Hello Alberto

sony_fe16-35_f4Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS Vario Tessar T*

Pros: Use in APS-C: compact, not overly heavy, great sharpness even at the edges (however very "natural" photos), excellent colors and contrast, use 100mm slab filters, fluid ghiere, not exaggerated cost (compared to 16-35 G). Great constriction, gives the idea of robustness. Tropicalization.

Cons: ENDLESS MF stroke (impossible to determine the infinity in night/star filming - you have to resort to digital adjustments in the car ..... and they are in pain)

Opinion: I'm (for now) using the lens in APS-C (on a6400). I would say amazing to every focal and generally to all the most used diaphragms (f.4 to f.11). The chromatic and contrasting rendering is excellent, even in photos at dusk and night. Flare seen only once with "visible" sun in photos. Very sharp throughout the photo (but naturally). Light (or not overly heavy compared to other choices) and compact is ideal for a mountain backpack on trekking. MF night a small "drama" to solve" (see "against"). Ability to use 100mm slab filters is a great advantage of slab size to carry (and cost). Now I'll test the lens in FF (a7RIII) and then update the review

sony_a6400Sony A6400

Pros: Compact and lightweight, Autofocus (a sniper) very useful and precise touch screen, 4000 ISO without problems indoors, din range, orientable monitor, battery life

Cons: Absurd REC button, menu (Sony .... but with practice you get used to it, presets help a lot). Autofocus at night (targets do not have the end of running in the MF dial, so through lens impossible to find infinity. You must use the electronic settings in the machine

Opinion: I needed a light backpack inge ( to leave the heavy/bulky Nikon 750/800 kit at home). First shots with the "saponetta" 16/50 very good, definitely higher than expected. Then I matched the 16-35 f./4 Zeiss .... open heaven (see my gallery), pure spectacle. I decided to leave Nikon and pass everything to Sony (now cnche with A7RIII). Autofocus a sniper (has many very useful functions), very high-performance display meter (rarely misses the lights), dynamic range decidedly extended (I would say better than the D750). The "raw" file is excellent, absolutely well processed in LR/PS; with extreme ease and a few "touches" you already extract a great beautiful photo (I think it is of great help the dynamic range in treating blacks and lights) with amazing colors, perfect contrast and great detail (pure being a 24 MP). Great ergonomics (I have small hands) but I shoot with one hand and it could never get out of hand (not even with rain or snow). If you match us FF lens ... you will enter a "paradise" (eye that is APS-C, then 1.5x). I don't make movies, but I tried ... that rec button is impossible, you have to leave the handle for on/off film (obviously with the move, because you have to detach your hand). You can match on/off movies on shutter button, but so you lose the ability to calibrate the autofocus while shooting. VR: it doesn't have it on the sensor, but with used optics equipped with VR (quoted) I've never had micromove problems. ISO: excellent high iso yield, higher than D750 FF, at 4500 ISO in closed environment I made great shots (obviously then adjusted in PP), but in the exterior 4000 ISO are still 100% excellent even without PP. BATTERY: never used the spare battery using only monitor (and shot quite a lot in a day), only neo has no charger (then bought separately) for which the battery is charged by connecting the machine to microUSB/USB. TROPICALIZZAZ: I fell twice in the fresh snow .... no problem (apart from having to dig for .... find the machine ...). Only PROBLEM are the night/star photos in total darkness, the lenses do not have the end of the run in the MF dial, so through lens impossible to find infinity. You must use the electronic settings in the machine. The infinity Manual does not correspond to the real infinity, the monitor light intensifier serves little (in total darkness, I repeat), the red emphasis of the areas in focus in the dark does not work .... (I have to figure out if there are alternatives, if anyone knows, suggest me). GREAT PRODUCT, I really recommend it

sigma_120-300os2Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM S

Pros: Great sharpness (including edges) also at f/2.8, colors and contrast superb, precise autofocus and very fast at all focal, fluid ring nuts, generous transport handle (useful and convenient for hand transport). Incredible stabilizer (with selector), possibility to limit the range of MF, possibility to update the firmware of the Xon lens the dock (to adjust MF etc).

Cons: Weight (at the limit of use freehand if you are not "Palestrati") and... especially the hood (at rest comes off or easily engages the lens body, not to mention the fastening wheel that you take in anywhere), mounted in operation, just a shot and you Detach (especially taking him to the side in the mountains...), sometimes it is difficult to find the joint to fix it...!! Moreover it is metal, as if the weight of the body is not enough! Does anyone know if there are any third party lens hoods? Filters from 105 (costs a bang the only "neutral")

Opinion: A lens that produces extraordinary photos, of great realism for sharpness/contrast/colours at all the focal lengths and at all apertures even already from F/2.8 (I use it at most up to F/8). Great brightness. Incredibly stimulation and useful stabilizer, with selector 0/1/2. The MF is absolutely fast and precise, silent, even with little light (with D750). Possibility to limit the range of MF to speed up further (especially if the light is low). I used it with Sigma Sigma APO 1.4 x EX DG with amazing results. Negative element is undoubtedly the weight of about 3kg that makes it difficult to transport in trekking (backpack or flank) and use freehand! Perhaps it is more an excellent and irreplaceable lens from African safari with car, shed or otherwise mounted on support. Another negative element is the hallucinating lens hood, of which I wrote among the "cons"
