![]() | Nikon D5 Pros: Everything is a Tank Cons: Not received Opinion: Taken with 170000 shots at a very reasonable price after a lot of negotiation, but it was worth it because it compensates for the "dark" side of the fast times of my Z9 with little light. Everything has been said about this machine so it is useless to write what has already been said by others, the merits are many and therefore it could not be missing in my kit. sent on January 24, 2024 |
![]() | Nikon AF-S 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR Pros: Build, Powerful, AF, Render Awesome Files Cons: Weight Opinion: I would have liked to get the 600mm Z F4, but at the moment the prices are crazy and so I got the 800mm at a very good price thanks to the CSA in Rome. A challenging lens, but it doesn't tire me at all, it allows you to stay at a safe distance in the birdlife environment, excellent on Z9 and D5 very high file level. I'm waiting for spring to be able to have fun and make the most of it. sent on January 24, 2024 |
![]() | Nikon Z9 Pros: Sticky AF, Ergonomic, JPG pre-timer, Castomizable. Cons: On the Tele F series, to hook the IBS, the tele motor is always on, to the detriment of the battery. Opinion: I've owned this Beast for almost 4 weeks now, it didn't take me long to castomize it to my liking as everything is very intuitive (Nikon menu feature). I use it mainly for birds, with the 800mm FL the AF is very responsive even on F mount lenses, here the Nikon gave me great joy. As I wrote about the cons, the only flaw is that if you don't insert the VR of the F series the IBIS does not go backwards, if it is active the lens motor is always ON at the expense of the battery, I think that Nikon with some strings on the software could fix this issue, but maybe it is wanted otherwise who buys the Z series... Okay, I bought another backup battery for 180 euros with all shipping. For the rest, it's a wonderful camera that allows me to shoot handheld without microblur with the 35mm 1.8 S even at 1/5 sec (crazy). I've always bought used, but here I wanted to take the step of buying it new and enjoy it from the beginning. I reserve the right to update the review. sent on January 08, 2024 |
![]() | Nikon D4s Pros: AF - Sensor - Ergonomics - Tropicalized - High ISO Cons: Nobody Opinion: 2023 where the mirrorless take positions and do nothing but talk about Z6II and Z9 I took advantage on the second-hand market of a D4S Nital with 16000 shots (New) at the modest figure of 1400 euros. Sent to CSA of Rome (COMPUTERIZED CALIBRATION AF VALUES - FOUND FRONT FOCUS CLEANING AND MAPPING CLEANING MODULE AF SENSOR UNIT CONTROL BAYONET CLEANING CMOS SENSOR FIRMWARE UPDATE TO VERSION C1.33 - L2.018 CONTROL VALUES AF-VALUES AE CLEANING MIRROR BOX NUMBER OF SHOTS 16.624 FUNCTION CONTROL). Happy as a child with his toy I set to work to see if the calibrations performed by the CSA of Rome were DOC taken my Spider lenscal and to my surprise no AF Fine Tuning needed. Well I will update my review in 1000000 shots :) sent on March 05, 2023 |
![]() | Nikon D810 Pros: Tropicalized, sensor, ISO 64. Cons: AF tracking Shameful, ISO 1600 Noise Salt Opinion: Bought new Nital in 2016 used for more than 5 years sold for a used D850. The D810 has been designed for slow photography and to get the best on both landscape and portraiture must be set from the menu with criterion as the shake is lurking. The dynamic range of the Nikon D810 is fantastic. Personally it gave me enormous satisfaction used mainly with the perfect 15mm Distagon combo. In post production great recoveries of shadows and colors. Also used with the second generation 70-200 F2.8 in a Motocross event I took home 4 or 5 photos with good results (I was frustrated by AF tracking), but you can't have everything from Nikon mom. sent on January 17, 2023 |
![]() | Zeiss ZE/ZF.2 Distagon T* 15mm f/2.8 Pros: Solid, ultra soft fire ring, sharp, zero distortion at the edges. Cons: the hood to be removed and use the filters must be sent to Zeiss with an unjustifiable cost. Metal cap comes off and the risk of losing it is high Opinion: I have been using this lens for 5 years on the D810 getting stunning results photos of crazy landscapes with depth of field never seen before, faithful colors and stunning sharpness at all apertures. No distortion at the edges no fisheye, in my opinion perhaps even better than the little brother Milvus if it were not that the latter is tropicalized. sent on January 17, 2023 |
![]() | Nikon TC-17E II Pros: Good workmanship, acceptable sharpness. Cons: Weight, AF slowdown on 500mm F4E acceptable, Price from new not justifying. Opinion: the TC17released in 2004 offers a 70% increase in focal length with 1.5 stops less which is completely contrasting with the TC14 which offers a 40% increase in focal length at only one stop less. As we know in birdlife the mm are never enough I mainly use the TC 14 of the third generation that has no equal to the 17 of the second generation, having said this on clear days without humidity and with good light does its duty, giving on my 500mm a focal length of 850mm of all respect. In conclusion, after using it for months it has sharpness in the center and mid-frame, with loss of image quality only at the widest apertures. sent on January 17, 2023 |
![]() | Nikon D850 Pros: It contains all the features of the previous models the state of the art. Cons: Knowing that it will not have a follow-up. Opinion: I come from the D70 - D300 - D7100- D3S - D610 - D810 finally the last jump to the D850. Shouldering every type of photography except the birdlife, I squeezed the D810 to the maximum obtaining exceptional results a fantastic machine, but when I tried to do birdlife I could not bring home results I was a little undecided about the transition to the D850, but after 2 years of careful analysis I convinced myself to buy it used, what to say no second thoughts, I made a combo with the 500mm F4E FL ED VR and the TC-1.4E III the result was monstrous :) Welcome Avifauna after the first attempts and the results obtained I immediately moved to organize the outings that before I dreamed of savoring nature and knowing that you finally have a perfect combo in your hands is satisfying. The Mirrorless world ??? I think that one day the transition will be inevitable, but as long as you find the D850 on the second-hand market, buying it again will be a pleasure. sent on November 30, 2022 |
![]() | Nikon AF-S 500mm f/4 E FL ED VR Pros: Unprecedented AF, No front weight, balanced, Sharpness. Cons: I confirm as mentioned above a bit of vignetting on the FF Opinion: I was lucky enough to buy it used in excellent condition below the market price, I immediately realized that I had in my hands one of the jewels of the Nikon house for the construction qualities and for its performance in the field of birdlife / sports / macro. I did the D850 combo and the TC-1.4E III make it a respectable 700mm, no loss of AF speed and photo quality. During one of my longest walks 13 Km I did not feel at all the weight during transport, just organize yourself with an anatomical military backpack and you're done. I have been using this lens for almost six months and I must say that it convinced me in avifauna returns the efforts and commitment with excellent files the MAF is lightning fast and does not sin a blow the only sore point and that I can not make the most of it with the D850 the transition to Z9 is inevitable from what I read with FZT it seems the speed of the AF behaves even better about 2mm sec faster. So exceptional optics that I will never sell. sent on November 29, 2022 |
