Pros: pretty much everything

Cons: maybe a few more pixels and the shot less noisy but you can not have it all..

Opinion: I do birdlife (although I use it for some of my trips, the flash I keep at home is not necessary), what to say I also have the d850 , but for the action photo I leave it at home, needless to say that when the light is not there is useless especially for very short times and high ISO , the ideal conditions are quite rare in favor of the 850 but I have to say that if you manage to take a shot right the file is very detailed and you also have the opportunity to make crop pushed, however always at the expense of the quality of the photo, the d5 is the maximum that s i can claim for action photos ... (currently in the nikon house) the ISO i leave them automatic I do not worry like the 850 and previously with the 500 to stand to tinn the to pull out an optimal result ... the file is very workable the battery charge lasts a lot, great XQD cards but difficult to find... The weight ... at least with what costs something you see certainly not as the d850 that looks like a toy , recommended to those who think with their own head and do not follow the fashions or GURU on duty...

Pros: Many, starting with the estate with high ISO - files in JPEG practically perfect - robustness and ergonomics typical of all the other flagshipnikON.

Cons: Undoubtedly the weight but after decades of using NIKON flagships is not a problem. A "against" is the poor availability of the excellent XQD cards and their price.

Opinion: I have been working with nikON professionals for at least 40 years; leaving out my old analogues F3, F100 and the mythical F5 with which I took tens of thousands of photographs, focusing only on the "digital" that I had and used, I went from the now Jurassic D1 to the D100, then from D2 to D3 and then to the extraordinary D3S used until not so long ago, with which, given its excellent hold at high, I began to use flashes more and more rarely. Recently I switched to the D5 precisely because of my need to have an ever better yield in conditions of little light: for me this is one of the greatest merits of the D5. In my opinion the XQD memory cards are extraordinary, at first I was a bit skeptical but I immediately thought again, and I wonder why they are never used more in photography. We could say that most likely "it is the best flagship ever", although I realize that this expression we have used it several times in recent years and punctually every time we have been disproved in a short time. As with the previous NIKON "flagships" in hand, it conveys an extraordinary feeling of solidity that must not make us forget the concentration of technology contained in that rigid shell. It is worth more than adding that the D5 shows a marked increase in "detail" compared to the previous D3 and D4. Incidentally I read a couple of reviews, second but absolutely meaningless that would compare on paper this machine with others, including the D750, and with all respect, I see that even in the field of photography there is no lack of "keyboard experts", people who never raise their butt from the chair and relying on those pseude reviews they find on the net pontificate to churn right and lack imbecile judgments. The only way to "judge" a camera or a lens is to "use" it, use it and then still use it in the field, as the sub-slate has always done. Good light to all.

Pros: Precision AF, Burst, Buffer, tropicalization, autonomy, graphic quality, white balance, great high ISO hold.

Cons: For some it may be the weight, nothing else.

Opinion: I use this professional-level reflex, a unique performance reflex, the d850 you dream of the same photos. Needless to say about MPX and other, it does not stand the comparison. Try personally to make the same photo in the same low light conditions and compare not the number of MPX, but the quality of MPX between these two SLR and the ISO hold. The D5 is an undisputed leader. Not to mention the focus speed, the right shot is always assured! Infinite Buffer and very fast write speed (1, 33sec to write the burst of 200 Raw) on XQD card. Perfect white balance both on the skin and on the brides clothes. This reflex, coma D4s and D3s will remain in history. It's true the weight is there, but in 2 weekends you are already accustomed. Unless you completely revolutions the field of photography I think I will never separate.

Pros: It is a super professional, allowing the professional to take home the shot in any situation. It's not meant for amateur photographers. WB automatic Excellent.

Cons: It is "only" a professional machine destined to those who carry the loaf at home with the photos. Amateurs in search of hyperdetail choose More.

Opinion: I write this review not by the possessor of the D5 but by occasional user in photographic hunting trips to animals with friend journalist. The machine has an incredible operating speed, the burst never ends, the focus is instantaneous, the image quality is excellent, the high ISO tightness is very good. As I wrote about is a device created for the professional who is on the street not to do street but to take pictures of a car accident happened at 3 o'clock in the morning without light and with rain, or in the war zone, at the edges of a field series A , in Autodromo or Crossodromo or in non-ordinary situations (when amateur photographers sleep). My judgement is 10, after having used it and after developing the raw with ACR and viewed the JPEG with 5k Monitor. The white balance compared to my Nikon D750 is just fabulous. I gave a helping hand for a marriage service: The photos made with the D750 were almost all correct for whitening the wedding dress, those made with the D5 were perfect. That is, hours of work saved for the professional photographer.

Pros: Speed ??and precision af, burst, relative ease of use, connections, battery life

Cons: excessive and unjustified price, weight, product dedicated solely to sports

Opinion: I do not think that the D5 is a flagship as many are led to believe the stratospheric price and for some reason even unjustified, but it is a machine specifically dedicated to sports photography to its needs or even better to the needs of sports photographers who need press the shutter button and not be so much thinking, to send fast images of good quality without too many problems of resolution or even post production, to have a substantial autonomy and not having to be too much to work on the settings. In this field excels, but outside of this scope I do not see the need to faint for it, even in studio photography, in the landscape, architectural not to mention street or other not only is not superior to the same products of the Nikon house , but often takes them. For the rest like all the tests I could see and those that I personally did, even if a little 'to the garibaldina. they visually demonstrate that at 12800 ISO starts to rumble, even if less than other fullf frames, they revealjust doses a car of this land and leaving the imagination to the 3 million and passes of ISO. I would then like to see that with 20 megapixels on the full format, it did not even have a fair range yield. In conclusion, it is a machine that is specialized and unsuitable for general photography, which in a sense as a niche product, justifies its price commercially.
