canon_70-300is_usm_iiCanon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM II

Pros: Value for money tending to infinity

Cons: In low light, autofocus performance decreases in terms of speed. Expensive but beautiful original lens hood.

Opinion: Objective, in my humble opinion, simply extraordinary! At all focal lengths and at all distances of MAF, even if at infinity it drops a little. Remarkable speed and accuracy of MAF. Absolute silence of both the autofocus and the stabilizer. Excellent assemblies, externally in plastic materials but of high quality. I've owned it for a few years now and never disappointed.

leica_q2Leica Q2

Pros: Aesthetics, built almost entirely of noble metal, image quality (even at high sensitivities), refinement of manual focus, rationality and relative simplicity of settings, protection from dust and moisture with a lot of certification. Splendid the metal hood that screws with a setback and equally splendid the "vintage" metal cap.

Cons: The keys do not seem to me to be made of metal. Cost of flash! Shoulder strap not quite up to par although elegant. Like all highly energy-intensive mirrorless cameras, you need a spare battery.

Opinion: As a "leicist" now of long course but, alas, not being able to count on a large spending capacity I have long meditated on the purchase of this camera also because I exchanged it (but with relative adjustment) with my splendid Leica M6 collector's item with Summicron 50. I took advantage of the courtesy of my reference store (Ottica Centrale Vicenza) which allowed me to try, in addition to the Q2, also the digital M series and the Leica SL2. I will try to explain the reasons why Q2 came out on top. First of all, from a stylistic point of view, the references to the M series are well recognized although, it will be objected, there is no longer the legendary rangefinder! Yes, the rangefinder is no longer there but, in my opinion, at the current state of autofocus technology this refined, symbolic device of the brand, fascinating and expensive has become (quoting the lawyer Agnelli) anti-historical and anti-technical. The autofocus of the mirrorless is extraordinary: it allows the coverage of almost the entire frame with recognition and tracking of the subject unthinkable until a few years ago and various other "customizations" of great utility and that the Q2 allows a high level of speed, precision and simplicity of settings! A note of particular merit I reserve to the manual focus: meanwhile the lens ring is beautifully frictioned and in the excellent electronic viewfinder is, for a few seconds, enlarged the central part of the image: precision and ease of use! Beautiful!! To the touch I detect a lower "density" than the legendary M6 but magnesium alloys are precisely less dense than zinc, brass ... but no less resistant. As for the optical aspect well, what can I say, it certainly does not disappoint! There have been some remarks about the fact that the Summilux 28 is not a "real" summilux because historically this designation in the Leica house was reserved for lenses with a maximum aperture f1.4 but, I must say, the yield is from Summilux with the detachment of the out-of-focus planes that recalls very much the classic f1.4. Fully satisfied also with the quality of JPEGS. Considering that the machine is also equipped with a central mechanical shutter and therefore synchronized with flash up to 1/500s the fact of paying almost € 500 for the Leica SF40 derived from Nissin is very penalizing!! But somehow the flash must have it to take advantage of this excellent feature! As far as the field of use of Q2 is concerned, I believe that only remote action photography and birdlife are precluded. In the other genres he juggles great! The sensor seems excellent to me and holds up well even sensitivity up to 6400 asa with little noise (where the luminance one prevails). Finally, I just have to face the vexed quaestio of the cost: in absolute terms it may seem very high but, in relative terms, with this price you have a full frame photocamenra with almost 50 MP sensor, tropicalized, with ultra bright wide-angle lens beautifully stabilized, interamenre made of metal with a splendid EVF and a sensational image quality and with reasonably contained dimensions and weight! If for those who read it costs too much... well, for me not. RATING: 9,8

canon_35_f2isCanon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM

Pros: Excellent construction, although not totally metallic, excellent auto focus and stabilizer quiet.

Cons: Perceptible aberration barrel.

Opinion: Fixed focal length lens very versatile. It provides excellent image quality and brightness coupled with the ability to focus very close (24 cm!) Widens even more creative potential. The blur is great. There is some barrel distortion where the best correction would have greatly increased the quality / price ratio of this goal. One feature I particularly like is the quietness of the stabilizer and its great utility during shooting both photos and especially video. In my opinion it should be a firmware update for the camera bodies (I mean the 5D Mark III but I guess for the other reflex) that did appear in the viewfinder and the LCD displays a warning that the stabilizer is activated. Often I leave it on even if you do not need and this increases the demand on battery power. The warning of active stabilization have it also compacts is very strange that this solution there is on the 5D. However, the noise ofllo stabilizer is a priority. Excellent and refined the focus manually without play and the "texture" comparable to the focus on the best targets vintage. Highly recommended. Rating 9

canon_6dCanon 6D

Pros: yield high sensitivity, responsiveness and quiet shooting, completeness of the information on the display, image quality generally accurate exposure.

Cons: not all-metal construction though generally excellent, battery consumption.

Opinion: I'm almost two months since I did the upgrade from the EOS 5D Old (or rather ORIGINAL) so I think it's time to add my other opinions on the new Canon SLR. The consideration of a general nature and which would give more weight can be summed up this way: there was an upgrade but not on every aspect. Beyond secondary characteristics for me as the reduction of the maximum shutter speed and flash synchronization after all consistent with the field of use for which the 6D was conceived I noticed that the improvement of the sensitivity and speed of autofocus is not so important from the practical side and the image quality of the EOS 5D Old up to 800 ISO is indistinguishable from 6D and indeed the JPEG baked from Old seem even a little better. For higher sensitivity and a lot of things change in favor of 6D. Completeness, the aesthetics of the menus and the quality of the LCD rear are far superior as, The rest is logical given the years of technological gap. L 'LCD is not, however, tempered glass but plastic. Another element questionable constructive and which I have read in the forum conflicting opinions is the polycarbonate shell. And 'my belief that from the point of view of the mechanical characteristics the magnesium alloy is superior to polycarbonate. Indeed, given the hardness defined as the resistance of the material to permanent deformation (measured according to various scales) magnesium alloys certainly exceed the polycarbonate (even though they are "linked" also) and such alloys provide a far superior dimensional stability with reduced voltages distortion and residual. Perhaps the need not to electromagnetically shield the integrated GPS module (which is very useful and practical) led to this choice. One factor which I consider much improvement over the 5D Old is the choice of the SD card slot instead of CF. Now the capacity and the speed in R / W of SD are more than sufficientfor most of the professional needs but the SD pù comfortable (think that every PC has a SD reader) and the lack of pin slot makes smaller and sturdier than dust, humidity, etc ... The presence of a only slot seems coherent with the field of use for which the 6D has been designed. Another aspect that I was very impressed with is the responsiveness, cushioning and quiet shooting to the point that once you choose the shooting mode to "silent" (it would be better to say "further silent") I find myself with an SLR, the 6D, with a jerk maybe quieter than my Leica M6! Very impressive! And in certain circumstances (ceremonies, theater ...) extremely useful. I seem to have noticed so far more battery consumption than the 5D but a more accurate exposure. Great reduction in the banding recoveries PP, excellent dynamic range, excellent ergonomics and do not forget the possibility of video.rnConcludendo: they satisfyundone purchase but HONOR and GLORY to the Canon EOS 5D ORIGINAL!

canon_16-35_v2Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM II

Pros: Excellent costruzione.Possibilità to make the focus a short distance (28 cm). Ability to mount a filter.

Cons: Need filters "slim" antivignettatura

Opinion: Waiting for a 14-24 canon we have to "fall back" on this 16-35. Excellent brightness and focus speed. Exemplary distortion correction to 16 mm. I think it is an essential objective if you want to exploit the potential of video, such as the EOS 5D Mark II, because with the wide-angle focal in virtue of their large depth of field will manage to overcome the limits of focus in Live View. Pretenderei this category from a perspective of greater clarity, although already very good. It may be, however, that this limit is to be charged to a certain degree of variability among the items produced.

canon_24-70Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM

Pros: Wide range of application. Impeccable construction.

Cons: Nothing. It may be useful to IS.

Opinion: Excellent professional zomm the wide range of use, quiet and precise autofocus fast, great sharpness, brightness f 2.8 allows (mostly 70 mm) a good blur. A peculiarity of this zoom lens (unlike the corresponding Nikkor) is that reaches its maximum physical extent in correspondence with a focal length of 24 mm and this is appropriate because in this way minimizes the risk of camera shake or shake (the absence of the SI). Excellent "resistance" to light: flare practically non-existent! The brightness, the mechanical complexity and the quality of materials involve considerable weight (about 1 kg), but it should be so. Essential for the ceremony.

canon_5dCanon 5D

Pros: Milestone in the history of photography: first SLR full frame offered at an affordable price for a good part of the audience. Menus simple, intuitive. Large, bright viewfinder. Weight and perfect size.

Cons: Rear LCD panel not very bright and contrasting but still good enough. Shutter response time (shutter delay time), autofocus and not exciting but still consistent with the areas of application for which this machine was designed.

Opinion: Provides outstanding files up to 1600 ASA (perhaps suffers a bit 'in 3200, but it is in any case a "forcing", setting "H" in the sensitivity extended). The density (or resolution) is still extremely good and the generous size of the photodiodes (8.2 micrometers) ensures originally an excellent signal / noise generating files without sharp heavy interventions software. In some forums complain about the excessive length of autofocus but in the customization features is the ability to activate the 6 Assist AF sensors in combination with the central AF sensor SERVO AF mode to single shot (ONE SHOT) significantly improves the speed above if coupled with a lens L series f2, 8. I think I was one of the few lucky buyers of a new EOS 5D (and very obvious!) Just a few weeks after the launch of the Mark II, however, I've been experimenting with but I would not change my OLD! Advanced features Flash (E-TTL II). I consider the most important machine ever made by Canon! Superlative for landscape and ceremony.
