Pros: Sharp, IS is very good, close focus 24cm, quiet USM focus

Cons: Bright points of light show slight coma at image corners, a bit expensive.

Opinion: I use this lens on a 600D crop frame camera so it is 56mm to me. This lens takes very sharp images even at f2. The 8 point sun stars it produces look great. The IS has allowed me to take sharp images hand held down to 0.8sec. Although it is a lot quieter to focus than the smaller 35mm f2 the USM motor still can be heard when focusing. This is a great street photography lens.

The colors are those typical of Canon (although, of course, not comparable to the L-series lenses), the lens does not even feel in the hand, especially with a machine of a certain weight like the C100. The construction is made of plastic but not for this reason the lens is a toy, and indeed it gains in lightness. The f/2 aperture is perfect for working even in suboptimal light, and the detachment of the subject is sufficient in most cases. The sharpness is excellent, sometimes excessive enough to have to be reduced in post. Overall excellent lens.

Opinion: I had been following it for years but I never bought it even for the (new) price quite high, I found an opportunity on RCE and I took it immediately. I mounted it on a 5D Mark III and I think I will not disassemble it anymore, small, compact, light, very practical, I made an exit and I must say that practically it is like not having it, it does not clutter comfortably fits in a backpack of modest size considering also the camera body. Excellent first impressions, high quality, sharp images even at full aperture (shooting little at apertures all open) for the moment you do not find major defects. The price of the new is very high and from what I understand even the used maintains the price, evidently it is very sought after. It does not have the standard hood (my specimen was equipped with a non-original hood that is fine the same) considering the price perhaps a hood is there, it does not have tropicalization could be a problem for landscape or street photography. The overall great product!
