![]() | Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM Pros: All Cons: Nothing Opinion: After the disappointment of the Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G (see my review) I wanted to buy this vaunted magic lens... Nothing could be more true! Very difficult with other comparable optics you get to have this extreme sharpness even at full aperture, with chromatic aberrations practically non-existent and distortion at very minimal levels. In the construction phase, to contain the size, vignetting is the only visible negative note, but easily recoverable in post-production. Vote 10 sent on March 11, 2023 |
![]() | Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G Pros: Compact, lightweight and well built. Cons: exaggerated distortion - very visible field curvature - vignetting - price Opinion: After the 40mm f2.5 G (excellent), I wanted to try the 24mm G of the same series thinking to have more or less the same image quality... Nothing could be further from the truth. The sharpness of my specimen has been variable from photo to photo. The exaggerated distortion intolerable for a very recent design perspective with a high price is the thing that made me decide the immediate return. I tried to correct it as many say through Camera Raw and Dxo Lab, but inevitably in addition to losing framed field you lose so much sharpness on the edges. The vignetting is also very conspicuous but recoverable. An optics that is aesthetically fabulous returns very disappointing images. Things to avoid sent on January 09, 2023 |
![]() | Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Vario Tessar T* Pros: Aesthetic dimensions Cons: Sharpness! Opinion: Unfortunately only zoom 24/70 f4 Sony in production. My specimen (just bought new) after several tests at the focal length 24mm (worst focal length) several images were completely out of focus while focusing on single point. At higher focal lengths the photos are "almost" always in focus but you do not perceive the slightest three-dimensionality and the sharpness does not match my Sony 40mm f2.5G. Tested with Sony A7III. From my point of view they could take it out of production right away. By conception, several users (including me) who buy a mirrorless FF want to reduce weight and bulk and the zoom 24/70 f4 is the right compromise for covered focal lengths with relative price compared to 2.8. I do not understand such an important focal length as Sony has not yet replaced it. Vote 5 sent on November 20, 2022 |
![]() | Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G Pros: Sharpness, compactness, finishes, hood Cons: Price Opinion: First lens combined with the Sony A7III, I find it extraordinary in terms of compactness and sharpness. Fast and silent autofocus, internal focus with inexpensive filter diameter. The hood likes or does not like for its strange shape and on which you can put the cap without removing it from the body. Sony after years of deafness, has listened to many users who wanted small and light lenses with high quality without necessarily combining f1.4 bison with an exaggerated price, size and weight. The price is still slightly high, but compared to its rivals in terms of build quality and sharpness for me there are no comparisons. I hope that after the triad 24-40-50 Sony also comes out with a medium telephoto with the same compactness and quality. sent on October 16, 2022 |
![]() | Sony A7 III Pros: Sharpness, colors, autofocus, high iso, dynamic range, etc. Cons: Curtainless sensor, ergonomics with large barrel optics Opinion: I come from Fuji x-t3 that as a body was really well done, changed only for the quality and colors of the sensor for me disappointing. This Sony after a few shots made me immediately understand that I am on another planet I like colors very much, super sharpness, infinite dynamic range and high iso unsurpassed if not with much more expensive cameras. The negative sides are the sensor without curtain always exposed to dust as a result of continuous cleaning, the menu not easy to understand at the beginning and the handle too close to the mouth of the optical mount that with optics with a consistent barrel diameter goes to bump against the knuckles of the fingers. For the rest at the moment it is one of the best cameras I have owned. sent on October 15, 2022 |
![]() | Fujifilm X-T3 Pros: Camera body, viewfinder, manual controls, autofocus Cons: Dynamic range, colors Opinion: The camera body is the strong point of this really well built and versatile camera with manual controls always in the right place. Improved viewfinder compared to older models and very high-performance autofocus. I bought it a short time ago to return to Fuji after years of absence since I had abandoned the x-pro1 just for the simple sake of changing. With the purchase I had the desire to review those colors that had impressed me in the old pro1, but after a hundred shots taken in various situations with various settings, I immediately realized that my Fuji colors had vanished lost forever not reproducible except with complex and long steps in the various processing programs. In this regard I had confirmation on several international posts by some authors who spoke of the total loss of fuji color science that distinguished the first x-trans series. In addition, the dynamic range of this sensor did not really convince me, far below other aps-c. Realizing that I can no longer have a sensor with my expectations I immediately made the camera and switched to another full frame mirrorless of which at the moment I am very satisfied. ![]() | Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Pros: extreme clarity, exemplary construction, af fast, design Cons: weight, size Opinion: Spectacular perspective, the best I've ever had. Sharpness exemplary to all diframmi especially those more open. Autofocus speed and perfect silenzioso.rnMeccanica with wonderful aesthetics. The only drawback abundant but bearable weight and size than with the lens hood (exaggerated) becomes really cumbersome. Luckily I found a piece without back problems and front focus, problem instead I found in well 2 specimens tested the 24mm art. Proven Optics with Canon 6Drn sent on September 14, 2016 |
![]() | Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Pros: Solid, autofocus, stellar construction Cons: incostistente sharpness and variable to open higher with 6D Opinion: 2 specimens tested with Canon 6D both have had problems with the sharpness maggiori.rnMi openings explain ... the autofocus works quickly and instantly engages the subject, but when you go to see the image on the monitor the results are disappointing. rnAlle greater openness on the subject that you focused and seemed ok, magnifying rather looks blurred and do not know what's in focus it behind them before the subject. Only F3.5 starts dating sharpness and you can clearly see the point of focus, but now you've lost all the beauty blurred to maggiori.rnHo openings tried a specimen with the 5D Mark III to a friend in that case instead I had images in focus even and consistent whole in coverage, so I think a lens / camera connubbio ... unfortunately I had to return them both rn sent on September 09, 2016 |
![]() | Sony FE 28mm f/2 Pros: sharpness, lightness, autofocus, weight, size Cons: distortion Opinion: The goal comes with excellent sharpness from F2.5 onwards. The size and weight are very small with a diameter 49mm.il aluminum barrel filters gives sturdiness and solidity (like the Zeiss Sonnar 55mm) with the absence of the ferrules games. Fast silent and precise autofocus great for sore street.rnL'unica is the distortion that for a 28mm seems too pronounced. highly recommended anyway sent on September 09, 2016 |
![]() | Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 Pros: Crisp, light Cons: autofocus, noisy, cluttered, barrel, price Opinion: The optics is presented optically excellent at all apertures species from f2 onwards. Lightness is also its strength to be evaluated being created to work with weight bodies ridotti.rnLe mournful notes have a higher footprint of 50mm to other mirrorless category especially with the hood mounted, slow autofocus especially those who practice the street, high noise autofocus, low-level plastic barrel and unacceptable price, compared with € 120 you buy the canon 50mm F1.8 stm with the same characteristics. sent on September 09, 2016 |
![]() | Canon EF 24-70mm f/4 L IS USM Pros: sharpness, excellent stability, distortion below average, weight, diameter filters, lens hood with the block. Cons: tropicalization, aesthetics in extended zoom. Opinion: Possess it recently and I am very happy, sharpness ... very convincing stabilization really improved ... low distortion at 24mm ... carry weight ... 77mm diameter filters become a classic. Before I had the latest version f2.8 L II that I sold for weight. How sharpness 2.8 II was slightly sharper and more professional construction, but as unsustainable weight during the trip. The good weather sealing though it is not absolutely the version levels f2.8 L II, some elements of dust I came between the lenses even if very small and almost invisible. Aesthetics in extension zoomed horrible (like NOW almost all zoom) looks like a bald chicken neck. Vastly superior in everything (except for the focal missing) to 24-105L I've owned in different specimens. The aching note about the price that would be a 30% lower price list. sent on September 24, 2014 |
