On Alpha 7RIII the autofocus is very fast. The weight is really low and makes the machine almost compact. It's clearly not comparable to a Canon 50mm 1.2 series L or Sony's GM equivalent but it also costs a quarter of its price. For sure it seems that it is much better than the previous Sony Zeiss 35mm 2.8, although the focal length is different or at least I have read opinions on those who compared them. Sony did not yet have a 40mm, personally I find it a strange focal length, you have to get used to it as it is neither a wide angle nor a normal and therefore you can also adapt well to any eventuality but it is not trivial. I took a series of portraits of my morosa to test the sharpness and it looks very valid.
