![]() | Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS Vario Tessar T* Pros: Sharpness, colors, construction, very few chromatic aberrations even at the shortest focal length, stabilized Cons: Price Opinion: An excellent wide-angle zoom for Sony E, very sharp especially at short focal lengths (it behaves very well even on very dense sensors: I use it on A7RII) The color rendering is excellent. The maximum aperture at f/4 for the lens of use that I make of it (landscape mainly) is amply sufficient. The weight is not excessive, especially if mounted on FF bodies and is in line with the offer of the competition. Ultimately it is a lens that gives excellent performance and built very well, even if the price of the new is really high. Another "flaw" that I can mention is that it has no internal zoom: given the focal range, I would have preferred a solution similar to that of the glorious Canon EF 17-40 f/4L sent on September 23, 2021 |
![]() | Fujifilm X-T10 Pros: Sensor, size, manual rings, vintage look&feel Cons: nobody Opinion: One of the best fuji cameras I've had on my hands. The X-Trans2 sensor has something that its successors (better and certainly better performing) no longer have. I bought it used in excellent condition and use it practically only with the 35mm f/2 and with a handful of manual Canon FD optics with which I think it gives its best. The machine body is quite small, but it is precisely its strong point: body +optics are little more bulky than a compact one. The manual rings and the menu system make it very simple and intuitive to use. A little uncomfortable the placement of the sdcard slot near the battery. Spectacular JPEG (especially the BW) but the RAW surprises: considering the "only" 16Mpx of the sensor still holds the comparison with much more carriageed models. Having only an optics with fuji's home AF I can not overbalance the performance of autofocus ... with the 35mm it performs well but is not at the level of subsequent models. Battery life is more than acceptable.. Moreover, as with almost all Fuji ML (and more), the cost/weight of compatible batteries makes all speech quite superfluous in my opinion. sent on May 19, 2021 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR Pros: optical yield, sharpness, construction, weight, equivalent focal, tropicalization Cons: for me none Opinion: Beautiful optics for yield and colors, the equivalent focal point (about 50mm) is perfect for everything from street to portraits set to some landscape. Af precise and quiet. On the X-Pro2 it is also perfect as a size and is tropicalized. Even at full opening it is definitely incisive but improves a lot from f/2.8 onwards, to become excellent around f/5.6. Some reviews complain of chromatic aberrations, but Personally I have never noticed them, at least of such magnitude as to compromise a shot and only to f/2. What to say, for me it is one of the best Fuji optics and considering the price it is at it is difficult to find defects.. if we really want to find one (completely subjective): I don't really like the silver :) sent on April 09, 2021 |
![]() | Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Pros: Sharpness, colors, weight, price Cons: calibration of the infinite distance scale (and not only...) Opinion: Exceptional optics for sharpness (at f/2 is already a blade) and color rendering. I used it on both XPro2 and XT10 and with both sensors it gives excellent results. A few aberrations at full opening but easily solvable in PP. For this price it is an absolute must-buy. Keep in mind that the scale of focus distances is completely blown to infinity (and even a little earlier): the problem is not appreciable in optimal light conditions due to focus peaking, but in cases of poor light it turns out to be annoying as the electronic noise in the EVF makes the manual MAF more difficult... sent on April 07, 2021 |
![]() | Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 Pros: Sharpening even at full opening, speed af, construction Cons: It's a little heavy, expensive, but otherwise nothing to report Opinion: I have this optics in evidence for a short time but it is giving me excellent satisfaction. The autofocus is quiet and precise (even with eyeAF it does not miss a beat), very sharp even at full opening, between f/2.8 and f/5.6 is simply incredible. The construction is very good, the sense of solidity is there. The color rendering for my taste is very good. Personally I don't find faults (maybe it's a bit heavy, but used on Sony FF bodies is well balanced) except the price of the new maybe, like most Sony lenses. sent on March 12, 2021 |
![]() | Sony A7r II Pros: Fantastic sensor, infinite dynamic range, precise but not very fast autofocus, great EVF Cons: Battery life, absolutely horrible menus, lack of lossless compression on raw Opinion: Mainly used for landscaping and portraits is an excellent camera, the sensor is something formidable (thanks to the high resolution) and allows pp recoveries that are still comparable with much more modern cameras. The autofocus is precise but not particularly fast, good construction. It consumes quite a bit of battery, but with the cost of compatible batteries it is a relative problem honestly. The real flaw ultimately is usability: menus are something obscene, complicated and cumbersome and in my personal experience this results in less fun while shooting (I wonder if any of sony's UX designers have ever fiddled with any fujifilm...). Also on this model in particular it is not possible to use the RAW compression function without going from 14 to 12 bits of color depth... sent on March 10, 2021 |
![]() | Sony FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA Sonnar T* Pros: Construction, image quality, sharpness, price of used Cons: Eye AF sometimes inaccurate, minimum focus distance Opinion: It is a really excellent optics for yield and sharpness, already fully usable at full opening becomes amazing from f/2.8. Used on A7rII the AF is precise and fast, however with the Eye AF it makes it a little difficult to hook faces especially in situations with low brightness (but maybe it is the copy I have on probation). The focal is a bit suitable for everything and the small size always entices you to have it in the bag. If we want to find defects, I would say that the minimum focus distance (55cm) is not exhilarating but you get used to it. The price of the new maybe is a little high for an f/1.8 sent on March 09, 2021 |
