![]() | Leica Q3 Pros: Excellent lens, central shutter, color rendering, optical quality of the viewfinder, control ergonomics Cons: Viewfinder electronics not up to par, no grip, in general, slow electronics and not up to date with the competition Opinion: It is an excellent machine in general, especially thanks to the quality of the lens and the ergonomics of the controls. In aperture priority, it is as immediate as an M. Even the fixed lens is not a defect as long as the camera is used as it was designed: travel, reportage, street. Unfortunately, as always at Leica, we have to deal with a long series of frankly incomprehensible choices starting from the lack of a grip and non-current electronics. The ignition time is very long, the viewfinder, excellent in bright light, drops, to the eye, below 20 fps as soon as the light decreases, the optical stabilization is stopped at 2015, the autofocus, even if improved compared to the Q2, is still much lower than the Japanese. A Leica, for better or for worse. sent on April 20, 2025 |
![]() | Sony A7C R Pros: Weight, dimensions, absolute quality Cons: The viewfinder should be improved, but that's okay too Opinion: I was looking for a camera that had the immediacy of the Leica M and top electronics. I found it. It's a gorgeous machine that takes perfect photos. Even the menus are finally logical and clear. For the type of use I make of them, the most suitable lenses are the Sony 24 f2.8 and 50 f2.5, which do not add weight and have the controls in the right place to work quickly in aperture priority. It is a truly perfect camera for reportage photography. sent on April 04, 2025 |
![]() | Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G Pros: Stunning reportage lens Cons: Not adapted to pixel peeping Opinion: This is a splendid reportage lens. Focusing is very fast and the curvature of the field helps in photos taken indoors. The central part of the image is razor-sharp, so you can always crop to tighten the frame. With this 24 you have a digital zoom up to 50 simply by cropping in post, especially if you use a camera with a 60 megapixel sensor. My grade is a nice 10 laude. It is a step above the Leica Elmarit 28 that has accompanied me on my travels around the world for so many years. I see some somewhat critical judgments on the resolution at the edges of the image. True, the resolution at the edges is a little lower, but there is no loss of contrast and this is only visible when zoomed in to 100% on the 27-inch monitor. In real images, printed or viewed at sensible magnifications, the problem is non-existent. This is an excellent lens. sent on April 02, 2025 |
![]() | Leica APO-Summicron-SL 50mm f/2 ASPH Pros: Color Rendering - Three-dimensional images - Always natural photos Cons: It made me want to buy all the other goals in the SL series - I'm going to get poor! Opinion: It's just incredible. Forget about the resolution, so much so that we only see it by enlarging the images 100%. The truly unique quality of this lens and that makes images alive, natural colors and everything looks like 3D, even if you look at the photo on the iPad. Despite the exceptional resolution, the faces come beautifully. sent on January 24, 2021 |
![]() | Leica SL2 Pros: Overall machine system quality + SL ts = superlative image quality Cons: No one, not even the weight, which is justified by the characteristics of the machine Opinion: The merits of the SL2 are the ergonomics of the controls and the quality of the objectives. With only three fingers, medium (for the two front keys), index finger and thumb, you can use the relevant controls without changing grip and without ever taking your eye out of the eyepiece. No competitor is so well studied. Try to believe. Manual fire (slow firmware 2.0) is perfect and autofocus is fast. The targets are on another planet. Really, they're not just a little bit better, they're really amazing. In short, the SL2, like all Leica, costs money, but it's really worth it. sent on January 13, 2021 |
![]() | Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH Pros: Natural Yield - Perfect Colors Cons: Nobody Opinion: The strengths of this lens are the resolution and microcontrasto that make color gradations in an extraordinary way. The complexion is natural and the colors are bright. What's really unexpected is the quality of the portraits. Despite the resolution, it makes the skin great. This is really a surprise. If you are looking for a neutral yield, this lens is the best choice there is. sent on January 03, 2021 |
