Pros: Excellent image quality, very resolute sensor and rich, workable DNG files with a typical Leica rendering. The Summilux 28mm lens is simply super: sharp, bright, three-dimensional and capable of delivering images with great character. The Q3 is a practical, immediate, always ready camera: you can take it anywhere and really encourage you to photograph. Clear menus, clean interface and, with the latest firmware updates, the user experience is further improved: smoother navigation, more intuitive handling and a greater feeling of general maturity. Excellent build quality, solid body, precise controls, magnificent design.

Cons: The price is very high, as Leica imposes a bit on all its products: it is not a camera for those looking for the best price/performance ratio in an absolute sense. The magnesium body is beautiful and gives a great feeling of quality, but it tends to mark and scratch with some ease, an aspect to consider if you are very attentive to aesthetics. The 28mm fixed lens requires awareness: it's a wonderful choice, but not for everyone.

Opinion: The Leica Q3 is a camera that must be understood more than compared only on the technical sheet. Its value lies not only in the megapixels, in the optics or in the build quality, all aspects of the highest level, but above all in the user experience. It is practical, essential, quick to use and capable of removing distractions between the photographer and the scene. The image quality is extraordinary: detail, colors, dynamic range and rendering of the Summilux 28mm return files of great personality, with that Leica feeling that is difficult to describe but easy to recognize. Compared to previous versions, the latest firmware updates have made the machine even more enjoyable: more modern menus, a more consistent interface, better operational management and an overall feeling of a more refined product. It is a premium full-frame compact that manages to be both a professional tool and an object to be used for pure photographic pleasure. It costs a lot, and this remains its most obvious limit. But if you accept the Leica philosophy, the Q3 offers a rare combination of quality, simplicity, portability and pleasure of use. It's not just an excellent camera – it's a camera that makes you want to go out and photograph.

Pros: Simply a LEICA

Cons: Battery

Opinion: Leica Q3** is not like reviewing just any camera; It is more like describing an object of high craftsmanship that, almost by magic, also takes sublime photos. After trying it, it is clear that we are not talking about a "rational" tool in terms of value for money, but a pure sensory experience. Here is my analysis of what, to date, is probably the best combination of style and substance in the digital world. Design and Feeling: The essence of Minimalism As soon as you pick it up, the Q3 conveys a solidity of yesteryear. The magnesium body is perfectly balanced. The real aesthetic (and functional) novelty is the **tilting screen**: finally Leica has succumbed to practicality without ruining the clean lines of the camera. It is discreet, elegant and quiet; The perfect tool for authorial *street photography*. Image Quality: The 60MP Sensor The beating heart is the 60-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, the same as its "big sister" M11. The rendering is simply breathtaking: Extreme detail: You have the freedom to crop aggressively (up to simulate a 90mm) while still maintaining a usable resolution. Triple Resolution Technology:** You can choose to shoot at 60, 36 or 18 MP. Shooting at lower resolutions not only saves space, but slightly improves noise handling and dynamic range. The Lens: Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH No need to beat around the bush: buy this camera for this lens. It is welded to the body and is a masterpiece of engineering. Sharpness: Sharp already at full aperture (f/1.7). Macro Mode: With a simple turn of the ring on the lens, the minimum focusing distance drops to 17 cm. It's an addictive feature. What really changes compared to Q2? If you're wondering if it's worth upgrading from the previous model, the improvements aren't just "on paper": 1. **Hybrid Autofocus:The addition of phase detection makes tracking subjects (people and animals) much more reliable. 2. Maestro IV processor: Everything is smoother, from navigating menus to managing video files (which now go up to **8K**). 3. Wireless Charging: A modern treat that, with the dedicated handle, eliminates the need to take out the battery continuously. The Pros "Leica Look" color rendering:Vibrant yet natural colors and a micro contrast that gives three-dimensionality to photos. 5.76 MP OLED viewfinder: One of the best on the market, it feels like looking through a transparent glass. Weather Sealing (IP52):** You can shoot in the rain without anxiety. The Cons The Price: It is a major investment, prohibitively expensive for many. Autonomy: The new sensor and the viewfinder consume a lot; a second battery is a must. Overheating in 8K: If you buy it to make long and complex videos, you may find thermal limitations. Final Verdict The Leica Q3 is the camera for those who want to eliminate any technical barrier between the eye and the shot. It is not perfect, but it has a "soul". It pushes you to get out of the house, look for the right light, and enjoy the creative process. If you are looking for a tool that is both a technological jewel and a tireless life companion, and the budget is not an obstacle, the search ends here. It is, simply, the ultimate compact. Here you will find some of my shots with the Leica Q3

Pros: Image quality, quietness, discretion, invisibility. Effectiveness of the interview with Apple devices (Fotos). From fw 4.0, convincing autofocus and increased overall responsiveness. Sensor that grants decent crops when needed (at these levels of quality it's a compelling option)

Cons: Only one SD slot; I would prefer that the video mode was not settable from the touch-screen (indeed, that it was not there at all). It costs a lot, but you know.

Opinion: Previously I had the Q2, which I already thought was perfect for many of my photographic genres. With the Q3, and especially after the fw 4.0, you appreciate a decidedly more ready and responsive autofocus, even if not at the levels of the Canon RF kit I own. As evident as it is, it is a camera dedicated essentially to reportage-street photography: you can't notice it, it has a retro look that doesn't intimidate anyone, it's very quiet, with a minimum of practice it can be framed without the need for a viewfinder or display, focusing in hyperfocal. However, the stellar quality of the Summilux also allows you to easily take home shots of landscapes, architecture and even portraits, especially using the lens at maximum aperture. You can wear it around your neck all day without musculoskeletal consequences, you can recharge it with a USB cable (although I prefer the double mains charger) and the use of the Fotos application is incomparably more efficient than solutions from other brands. Especially when traveling, with an iPad in the evening it is convenient and easy to view on a large screen, select the best shots and delete the others without even having to turn on the Leica. The "macro" function obviously does not allow high RRs, but "in the field" is enough for convincing details (between the minimum of m.a.f. and the possible small crop in post). At any distance and aperture, the lens is prodigious: from the 24mpxl of the first Q to the current 60 you don't feel the slightest drop in quality. This is no small thing. Battery life can certainly be improved, and the last fw gives an annoying warning when using the scl4 battery instead of the scl6. But the Q3 works perfectly all the same, except maybe in video mode, which I really don't care about. Compared to the Q2 it loses the "panoramic" function that I sometimes used to get panoramic jpgs on the fly; however, it is not a drama, it is better to always use the DNG and stitch later, with the Mac. The crop: I used to demonize it. Even today most of the shots have the native frame of 28mm, which is very congenial to me; however, with such a generous sensor and such a high-performance lens, a crop up to the equivalence of 35 or even 50mm "works", it does not flatten and is not perceived as a force.

Pros: Lens, sensor, DNG versatility, firmware 4.0

Cons: Paint, some aspects of firmware 4.0

Opinion: I start with the December 2025 firmware update 4.0 because it changed many things about the machine's behavior. Now the autofocus is decent, in some cases even good, there is recognition of people, animals and objects, the clickable icons on the screen are a great convenience. The freezes of 2023-2024 are a memory. On the other hand, the new firmware has introduced custom profiles that must be set for some functions. For example, I don't like that peaking, if activated, is now visible even with autofocus (a case that can be deselected through personal profiles, on YouTube mathphotogtapher explains how to do it). Another important new feature introduced by the firmware is the speed with which the machine wakes up from standby, an operation that it now performs in a shorter time, also allowing energy consumption to be reduced. Basically, there are many other positive aspects that were already present on Q3 before the update. The lens is wonderful for sharpness, microcontrast, colors and then the control to switch from manual focus to AF is the most practical there is. The dynamic range of the sensor is remarkable, I use it at 36 megapixels. The central shutter is a blessing for those who use the flash but also for the silence of the shutter. The result is extremely workable and usable DNG files up to ISO 12,800. On the other hand, a downside, but for many it's personality, is that the paint on the corners of the car and on the lens rings tends to come off with use in some places. The Leica Q3 costs a lot, it is limited for different types of use but it is a very effective tool that gives joy.

Pros: Extraordinary image quality, punchy 60MP and 28mm sensor, solid and compact construction, very workable RAW files with great dynamic range and good resistance at high ISO.

Cons: Very high price, autonomy can be improved.

Opinion: For me, the Leica Q3 is, to date, the best compromise between "serious" image quality and the camera that you want to always carry with you. The 60 MP sensor, combined with the 28 mm f/1.7, gives me files that I can work with as I did with the reflex kit, with a wide dynamic range and crop margin that basically makes me forget that I don't have other lenses. It's not perfect: the autofocus does its job but it's not a sports machine, the buffer isn't infinite and the fixed 28 imposes limits on you that you have to accept and "exploit" creatively. But it's a camera that disappears in your hand, simple, linear, quick to use, with a file that holds up well what I do in Lightroom: more than an exercise in technology, it's a tool that makes me photograph more and better, and this is absolutely worth the price for me.
